The software feature, called “Atomic Workbench”, was first introduced on Vivo’s foldable phones and is now coming to the upcoming X500 lineup. Product manager Han Boxiao shared the details yesterday, explaining that it lets you keep up to five apps open and visible on a single screen at the same time, then switch between them almost instantly.

On a normal bar-style phone, this could make everyday work feel a lot smoother. You could have a report, email, messages, and a research tab all appear on screen for quicker app switching. Han Boxiao pointed out that while the idea sounds simple, no other Android brand has actually done this yet. The reason is that it’s pretty demanding on the technical side, the software ecosystem, and ongoing support.

Vivo had to build a multi-level dependency scheduling system that can hand out processing power with very fine precision, instead of just following Android’s usual habit of prioritizing the app in front and freezing everything else.

They also reworked the memory management and worked closely with MediaTek’s Dimensity platform at a deeper level so more apps can stay alive instead of getting killed when things get busy. On the display side, the original system couldn’t handle multi-window rendering properly, so they had to rewrite the compositing logic to let the GPU handle multiple windows in parallel.

Han admitted this is just the beginning. Because they’ve gone so deep into the framework, every major Android update from Google means a lot of fresh adaptation work, which drives up the long-term costs. Still, Vivo says they’re committed to keeping the feature going so users can actually benefit from it.

The X500 series will also support something called interruptible first-frame interactions. That means you can swipe up, down, left, right, or tap without having to wait for the previous animation to finish. This comes from two main changes: a more accurate touch-response system that better reads your finger input, and a rebuilt app-switching scheduler that prioritizes touch commands so the phone reacts immediately.

By bringing Atomic Workbench from foldables to the regular X500 phones, Vivo is trying to give people with standard smartphones a much more practical and responsive multitasking experience than what its competitors currently offer.

In the latest teaser, Vivo product manager has revealed a notable video capability for the Pro models. At the same time, an alleged real-life image offers an early look at the X500 Pro Max next to the X300 Ultra.

Vivo X500 Pro Max gets a massive camera setup

Vivo product manager Han Boxiao has confirmed that the X500 Pro series will support 4K video recording at 240fps using the Zeiss Super Dynamic main camera. Compared with standard 4K 30fps recording, this captures eight times more frames, allowing users to slow down footage while retaining 4K resolution. Vivo says the feature is designed to capture fleeting moments such as highlights during travel with greater detail.

The company is also working on 4K 480fps and 4K 960fps slow-motion modes. These will be achieved through Vivo’s in-house 4K frame interpolation and video speed mapping algorithms, enabling 16x and 32x slow motion while maintaining 4K output. This could be particularly useful for scenes involving splashing liquids, bursting bubbles and other fast-moving subjects.

Meanwhile, an alleged photo shared online (via GSMArena) shows what could be the Vivo X500 Pro Max sitting beside the X300 Ultra. The Pro Max appears to have a camera island that stretches almost across the phone’s width, making the already large X300 Ultra look comparatively restrained. A separate hands-on video also appears to show a rotating ring around the camera module, with markings that could relate to ISO controls.

The X500 Pro Max is expected to feature three rear cameras, including a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 200-megapixel telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. The main sensor is reportedly a 1/1.28-inch Sony LOFIC unit, while the telephoto camera could use Samsung’s 1/1.4-inch HP0 sensor.

The phone is also expected to feature a 6.85-inch LTPO display with a 144Hz refresh rate and one of MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9600 chips. The Vivo X500 series is confirmed to launch in September, with the lineup expected to include the X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max.

Vivo’s Han Boxiao is back with another daily reveal for the Vivo X500 Pro series, and this time he’s moving from optics to silicon. After walking through the periscope telephoto cameras on the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max yesterday, the Vivo product manager has confirmed that the Pro series will be the first phones to run on the Blue Crystal × Dimensity 2nm flagship chip, built jointly by Vivo and MediaTek.

Vivo hasn’t named the chip outright, since MediaTek hasn’t launched it yet, but everything points to the Dimensity 9600 Pro. It’s built on TSMC’s N2P process, 2nm that is. 

As for the internals, the SoC is said to have a 2+3+3 tri-cluster design with two ARM C2-Ultra super cores, three C2-Premium large cores, and three C2-Pro medium cores. The chip will also have a new GPU architecture. 

Vivo X500 Pro’s imaging features

Han also framed this as an imaging chip, not just a performance one, and laid out five features Vivo and MediaTek built together for video. 

• There’s a dedicated professional Log video hardware zone for 4K 120fps 10-bit recording that’s ready for color grading straight out of the camera. 
• A revamped imaging NPU handles 60fps autofocus tracking across every 4K focal length. 
• Vivo’s own image chip drives what the company calls the industry’s first 4K Dolby portrait video, meant to get skin tones and dynamic range right without extra editing. 
• A new AI processor handles one-tap video highlights.
• And a jointly developed XDZ engine that adds hardware-level super-resolution for zoomed-in footage.

This adds another piece to what Vivo has already confirmed about the series: a 17EV dynamic range ceiling and 3-degree gimbal-level stabilization on the camera side. Han says the next reveal lands tomorrow, which will move on to the display.

Vivo recently confirmed that the X500 series will launch in China in September. The lineup includes three models: the X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max. With only a couple of weeks remaining before the launch, the brand’s product manager has been revealing details about the X500 Pro models’ camera capabilities. Today, he shared two posters confirming the periscope telephoto camera specifications for the Vivo X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max.

Vivo X500 Pro Max takes telephoto zoom to the next level

The Vivo X500 Pro Max will feature a 200-megapixel Zeiss APO super telephoto camera. It uses the same 1/1.4-inch BluePrint and Samsung HP0 sensor combination as the Vivo X300 Ultrah, along with hardware-based 4x ISZ technology. This is important because the high-resolution sensor can support two stages of lossless zoom while retaining the detail expected from a 200-megapixel telephoto camera.

The setup is also designed to extend the phone’s reach with a 400mm telephoto extender, making it particularly well-suited to distant subjects such as concert performances, sporting events, and birds. Vivo is pairing the camera with CIPA 7.0-rated professional stabilization and a Super Capture Engine that supports up to 30x capture. The company says the system is designed to freeze fast-moving moments, including performers onstage and rapidly moving pets.

The Vivo X500 Pro will take a different approach with a newly designed 85mm Zeiss 64-megapixel APO super telephoto camera. Its BluePrint and Sony LYTIA 610 sensor use an unusual GG 1×1 and RB 2×2 pixel structure. The design is intended to combine the resolving power of a 1×1 arrangement with the focusing performance of a 2×2 configuration.

Vivo says its updated telephoto lens design builds on the APO technology used in the Vivo X100 Pro while addressing the size limitations of that earlier implementation. The 85mm focal length and full 64-megapixel resolution also provide additional room for digital cropping. The camera supports CIPA 7.0 stabilization, improved telephoto autofocus and tracking, 4K 120fps slow-motion recording, and 4K 60fps HDR video output.

With the X500 Pro Max and X500 Pro taking different approaches to long-range imaging, Vivo appears to be putting considerable emphasis on telephoto performance this generation.

The camera uses the new BluePrint Guangyu 900 sensor, which is a 50-megapixel 1/1.28-inch unit designed around high dynamic range.

The sensor can deliver up to 17EV of dynamic range, which Vivo describes as the highest in the industry. This capability is also being brought to video, allowing each frame to retain a wider range of highlights and shadows, particularly in challenging backlit scenes. The X500 Pro series will also support 4K 240fps slow-motion recording and 4K 120fps HDR video with direct HDR output.

The main camera supports 3° OIS with gimbal-level stabilization, while CIPA 7.0 professional stabilization is also part of the setup. Vivo is targeting steadier footage without requiring a dedicated gimbal, with the 3° OIS system specifically highlighted for the Pro Max.

Tipster Digital Chat Station has added more details about the camera hardware. According to the leak, the X500 series carries the internal codename “Thanos 500” and will retain a strong focus on both photography and video. A recent leak claimed that the standard Vivo X500 will have its circular camera module placed at the upper-left corner, whereas the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max will have the circular camera module at the center, like the previous generation.

Therefore, the device held by Chou appears to be the Vivo X500 Pro or X500 Pro Max. The design appears similar to the X300 Pro, but the flash arrangement looks different, suggesting some changes to the rear camera layout.

It is being said that the standard X500 will have a 6.59-inch OLED panel and feature a 3nm Dimensity 9-series chip. On the other hand, the X500 Pro and Pro Max editions are said to arrive with the forthcoming 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro series chip. While the X500 Pro may feature a 6.4-inch display, the Pro Max edition may house a 6.85-inch screen. While the official name of the chip is not yet known, it is expected to be called the Dimensity 9600 Pro. The tipster also claims that the standard Dimensity 9600 will be a 3nm chip and essentially an upgraded version of the Dimensity 9500. This chipset is likely to power the standard Vivo X500.

Coming back to the X500 Pro, it is currently said to feature a battery in the 6,500mAh to 6,600mAh range, although the final capacity has not yet been decided. Vivo is reportedly aiming to push it closer to the 7,000mAh mark.

According to Digital Chat Station, the current Vivo X500 Pro Max engineering prototype is said to feature a 6.85-inch 2K LTPO display with a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel is reportedly manufactured using LIPO packaging technology, allowing for ultra-slim, symmetrical bezels on all four sides. It is also tipped to feature large, rounded corners and a 2.5D flat display, with BOE expected to supply the panel.

The leak further claims that the engineering prototype is equipped with LPDDR6 RAM, indicating that Vivo could be among the first smartphone brands to adopt the next-generation memory standard. This also suggests that the device may be powered by the upcoming Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset.

Worth noting is the contrast with the Vivo X300 series. While the X300 and X300 Pro had the same flagship processor, Vivo is shuffling the successors — making the base X500 a more accessible entry point and leaving the premium side to the Pro and Pro Max. 

The X500 series is expected to launch in late 2026, before the end of October. The X500 Ultra will join as the ultimate flagship only in early 2027.

However, on the other side, only one Vivo X300 series smartphone has crossed the 7,000mAh battery mark. A new leak by tipster Smart Pikachu reveals that Vivo may finally bring bigger batteries to the X500 lineup.

Vivo X500 series to pack 7,000mAh+ batteries

According to the tipster, Vivo is expected to adopt high-density battery technology more extensively, with even its flagship X-series devices reportedly entering the “7-series” battery capacity range, hinting at batteries starting at around 7,000mAh.

In China, the X300 lineup includes four devices: the X300 and X300 Pro, which are powered by 6,040mAh and 6,510mAh batteries, respectively. These devices were unveiled in October last year. The X300s and X300 Ultra, which went official last month in China, are equipped with 6,000mAh and 7,100mAh batteries, respectively.

So far, reports have revealed that Vivo may launch three X500 series models in September this year in China. The lineup may include the Vivo X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max with 6.59-inch, 6.37-inch, and 6.85-inch displays, respectively.

The Vivo X500 Ultra, which may debut next year in the first half, could sport the same display as the X500 Pro Max. While the Ultra edition may feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, the other X500 series devices could be equipped with Dimensity 9600 series chipsets.

It appears that the standard Vivo X500 will feature a 6.59-inch display. The X500 Pro may come with a 6.37-inch screen, as the device could be positioned as an alternative to the iPhone 18 Pro, which is also expected to feature a similar display size.

The Vivo X500 Pro Max may feature a 6.85-inch display. Reports suggest that the Vivo X500 Ultra could debut in the first half of 2027 and may feature the same display size as the X500 Pro Max.

Digital Chat Station claimed in another Weibo post that only the large-screen variant in Vivo’s next-generation 2nm flagship series is currently testing a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. In other words, only the X500 Pro Max may feature the said camera, while the other variants could arrive with a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.

The tipster further claims that the prototype device is equipped with a 50-megapixel primary camera featuring a large 1/1.28-inch sensor and LOFIC technology for improved dynamic range and light capture. In addition, Vivo is reportedly considering an upgraded 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera for the lineup.

In related news, a recent report revealed that the lineup may also include a device named the Vivo X500e. However, the technical details of this device remain unknown, and it is unclear whether it will launch in the Chinese market, where the lineup is expected to debut in September.

A new leak, courtesy of reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, suggests that the upcoming chip could deliver a significant performance upgrade and may even surpass Apple’s chips in certain areas. Here’s a look at what the tipster revealed.

Dimensity 9600’s performance tipped

According to the leak, the 2nm Dimensity 9600 chip could arrive with a 2+3+3 all-big-core CPU architecture aimed at delivering single-core performance close to Apple’s chips, while multi-core performance may surpass them. However, the tipster did not specify whether the comparison was being made against the upcoming Apple A20 Pro or the existing A19 Pro.

The tipster also claims that the chipset could bring a major improvement in CME/SME capabilities, potentially doubling compared to the previous generation, while cache changes are said to remain limited.

On the graphics side, the Dimensity 9600 is tipped to feature a larger next-generation “Magin” GPU compared to rival 2nm chipsets. As can be seen in the image shared by the publication, the X500 Pro Max has also been registered in the IMEI database. The branding suggests that it will be Vivo’s topmost model this year until the rumored Vivo X500 Ultra arrives in the first half of 2027.

Apart from this, the Vivo X500e, Vivo X500, and Vivo X500 Pro have also been spotted at IMEI database. While the X500 lineup is expected to launch in Spetember this year, it is unclear whether all four models will be unveiled at the same time.

Previous reports have revealed that the X500 Pro Max will feature a 6.9-inch 2K AMOLED screen. Under the hood, it may feature the Dimensity 9600 series chip and a battery of around 7,000mAh capacity with 100W wired and wireless charging support.

The listings suggest the phones are moving closer to launch and international certification. Leaks surrounding the lineup point toward Vivo continuing its usual formula: strong cameras, premium displays, and a heavy focus on imaging features.

The standard X500 is rumored to feature a 6.37-inch display, while the X500 Pro could use a 6.83-inch 2K LTPO OLED panel with high refresh rates. That would make both devices slightly larger than last year’s X300 (6.31-inch) and X300 Pro (6.78-inch). The lineup is expected to retain the ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensors.

The latest leak claims MediaTek is preparing two flagship Dimensity chips for 2026: the Dimensity 9600 and a higher-end Dimensity 9600 Pro. Vivo could be among the first brands to use them.

Exact differences between the two chips are still unclear for now, but the Pro version would likely offer stronger CPU and GPU performance, along with improvements in AI processing or power efficiency.

As can be seen above, tipster Digital Chat Station has claimed that the next generation after the X300 will be called the X500. So, this means that the next-generation lineup may possibly include the Vivo X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Ultra as the successors to the current generation’s Vivo X300, X300 Pro, and X300 Ultra.

Likely, the Vivo X500 and X500 Pro will debut in September or October 2026. Early speculations suggest that these devices will be the first to feature the Dimensity 9600, which is said to be manufactured through TSMC’s 2nm process, making it MediaTek’s first-ever 2nm mobile chip.

It is reported that TSMC’s enhanced 2nm process technology has a 1.2 times higher logic density than the existing N3E process, a performance improvement of up to 18 percent at the same power consumption, and a power consumption reduction of about 36 percent at the same speed.
