Reports have revealed that the upcoming Vivo X500 series will comprise of three devices equipped with different display sizes. The exact monikers of these devices are not known, but they are likely to be dubbed Vivo X500, X500 Pro (or Pro Mini), and Vivo X500 Pro Max. Today, tipster Digital Chat Station published a Weibo post revealing the chipset and camera details of the Vivo X500 Pro.

Vivo X500 Pro: Chipset and camera details tipped

According to the leak, the device is currently being tested with MediaTek’s next-generation 2nm Dimensity 9600 series chipset and could become one of only two “Pro” compact flagship phones expected later this year.

The tipster also revealed early camera specifications of the engineering prototype. The Vivo X500 Pro is said to feature a 50-megapixel primary camera with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor and LOFIC technology, alongside a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. The setup may also include a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with around 3x optical zoom.

While some may assume that the 64-megapixel unit could be the OmniVision OV64B sensor, which has appeared on several smartphones over the past few years, tipster Digital Chat Station has reportedly clarified that the Vivo X500 Pro’s periscope telephoto camera will instead use Sony’s new IMX06H sensor. This also suggests that a 200-megapixel camera may remain exclusive to the Vivo X500 Pro Max in the lineup, where it is expected to serve as the periscope telephoto camera.

As per other reports, the Vivo X500 Pro will have a 6.37-inch flat OLED LTPO panel with support for a 1.5K resolution. It is also expected to pack a 7,000mAh+ battery. Being a next-generation flagship, the device is expected to come preloaded with OriginOS 7-based Android 17.

As far as launch is concerned, the X500 series is expected to break cover in September in China. Globally, it is expected to debut in November or December this year.

According to the tipster, Vivo is expected to adopt high-density battery technology more extensively, with even its flagship X-series devices reportedly entering the “7-series” battery capacity range, hinting at batteries starting at around 7,000mAh.

In China, the X300 lineup includes four devices: the X300 and X300 Pro, which are powered by 6,040mAh and 6,510mAh batteries, respectively. These devices were unveiled in October last year. The X300s and X300 Ultra, which went official last month in China, are equipped with 6,000mAh and 7,100mAh batteries, respectively.

So far, reports have revealed that Vivo may launch three X500 series models in September this year in China. The lineup may include the Vivo X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max with 6.59-inch, 6.37-inch, and 6.85-inch displays, respectively.

The Vivo X500 Ultra, which may debut next year in the first half, could sport the same display as the X500 Pro Max. While the Ultra edition may feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, the other X500 series devices could be equipped with Dimensity 9600 series chipsets.

The Vivo X500 series will also reportedly include a model called the Vivo X500e, but there is no clarity on whether it is heading to China or if it is meant only for the global market.

Dimensity 9600’s performance tipped

According to the leak, the 2nm Dimensity 9600 chip could arrive with a 2+3+3 all-big-core CPU architecture aimed at delivering single-core performance close to Apple’s chips, while multi-core performance may surpass them. However, the tipster did not specify whether the comparison was being made against the upcoming Apple A20 Pro or the existing A19 Pro.

As can be seen above, tipster Digital Chat Station has claimed that the next generation after the X300 will be called the X500. So, this means that the next-generation lineup may possibly include the Vivo X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Ultra as the successors to the current generation’s Vivo X300, X300 Pro, and X300 Ultra.

Likely, the Vivo X500 and X500 Pro will debut in September or October 2026. Early speculations suggest that these devices will be the first to feature the Dimensity 9600, which is said to be manufactured through TSMC’s 2nm process, making it MediaTek’s first-ever 2nm mobile chip.

It is reported that TSMC’s enhanced 2nm process technology has a 1.2 times higher logic density than the existing N3E process, a performance improvement of up to 18 percent at the same power consumption, and a power consumption reduction of about 36 percent at the same speed.

At present, it is too early to talk about the X500 series as the company has several new phones lined up for launch in China in the coming months. After the S50 and S50 Pro Mini, expected by this month’s end, the company is expected to unveil the Vivo X300s and X300 Ultra in the first half of 2026.
