The Vivo X9 was launched alongside the XPlay 6 and X9 Plus late last month and came with a front dual camera setup as its main highlight. We bring you both the unboxing images of the device as well as its teardown images.

Vivo did a good job in the X9’s design and that is clearly revealed in the unboxing images which shows the device from different angles. As would be recalled, the X9 uses a fused antenna design just like the iPhone 7’s which sits at the edge of the phone. The rear camera is also tilted to the left corner at the upper edge while the LED flash is located beside it. The device also features super narrow bezels at the edges around the display and comes flat at only 6.99mm thick, weighing 154g.

The X9 features a 20MP + 8MP selfie camera combination, each sitting at either side of the earpiece. There is also soft flash for illumination. There is equally a capacitive home button and it functions as the fingerprint sensor.

Aside the unboxing images, the Vivo X9 also got the teardown treatment which unveils the internals and hardware. The teardown images shows the X9 might just be easily to repair if faulty. Also, the device is revealed to pack a non-removable battery.

As a reminder, the Vivo X9 features a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 pixels and pixel density of 401 ppi. The display is further protected with the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The device also comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor supported by a modest 4GB RAM. There is also 64GB of internal storage inside the device.

As stated, the biggest feature on the X9 is obviously the front dual cameras which the device packs. The selfie cameras are composed of a 20MP Sony IMX379 main sensor and an 8MP depth of field sensor. We had earlier seen some teased sample images said to have been shot by the X9’s selfie shooter and they are not disappointing at all. Going further, there is also a 16MP rear camera with LED flash which should hold its own in being capable of delivering crisp clear photo shots.

The X9 also crams a 3,050mAh built-in battery under its hood and runs on Vivo’s custom Funtouch OS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The device also has the AK4376 HiFi audio chip onboard which is capable of delivering improved audio output.

The Vivo X9 comes in just gold and Rose gold color variants and carries an hefty price tag of 2798 Yuan ( around $406) and already on sale in China.

This makes the device a hot favorite among selfie lovers and besides that the device also comes with a well packed specs line-up.

Ahead of its launch slated for later today, the Vivo X9 has featured in a set of leaked renders courtesy of popular tipster @kjuma. The renders show the device having a white-colored front face around the display while it comes with silver color at the back, which is most likely one of its color variants.

The front view render shows the device’s most potent offering which is the front dual camera, with both sensors sitting at one side of the front earpiece while the proximity sensor is at the other end. The device is also shown to have a physical home button at the front which would likely function as a fingerprint scanner.

At the back, the main camera is located at the top left corner of the device, with an LED flash lying at its side. The Vivo X9 also comes with an antenna band design that is similar to those on the iPhone 7. We are beginning to see more devices adopting this form of antenna band design, by the way. The phone also features a design with narrow bezels around the display screen.

We had earlier seen the key specifications of the Vivo X9 and X9 Plus via a leaked box casing. However as a reminder, the X9 features a 5.5-inch Full HD display, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and an unspecified Snapdragon processor which is tipped to be the Snapdragon 625 chip. The front facing cameras are a combination of a 20MP sensor and an 8MP sensor with soft light, and there is a 16MP shooter on the rear.

In addition, the Vivo X9 will have a 3050mAh battery, a front fingerprint scanner,and a dedicated AK4376 HiFi audio chip. The bands supported have also been listed as: B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B8, B38, B39, B40, and B41 while the device would run Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based Funtouch OS 3.0.  There is also dual SIM/ Dual standby support on the device.

Vivo is expected to officially unveil the Vivo X9 and X9 Plus on November 17 but before that happens, the company has released some sample images shot by the X9 front dual cameras. As you would recall, the Vivo X9 is touted to come with a dual camera set up on the selfie shooter and that is the main highlight of the flagship. The company also shared a couple of renders of the device, all mean’t to tease the X9.

The camera samples are clear selfie shots of a beautiful lady in different equally beautiful background settings.  The selfie shots are very clear with all details rendered in perfect natural outlook. The images are devoid of grains or image noise even though one of them was shot inside a house while the other one was outdoors. The lady’s skin color also came out very clear and natural, as well as other features and contours on her body. All these were achieve because the Vivo X9 uses the latest beauty algorithm.

The front camera is a dual setup, so we expect to see the bokeh effect and it did come out very well. A cool background blur could be seen on both images. In addition, the camera seem to have a very efficient focus.

To recall, the Vivo X9  packs a 20MP Sony IMx376 sensor jointly developed with Sony along with an 8MP secondary camera for depth of field at the front as well as an all-metal streamlined body. The device will have a 5.5-inch screen with Gorilla Glass 5 protection, while the X9 Plus will come in at a larger 6-inch display. Both the Vivo X6 and X6 Plus are said to be powered by the same Snapdragon 653 processor and there would be two RAM versions with the higher version packing 6GB of RAM while the base model is said to come in with a 4GB RAM.

However, that will change with the Vivo X9 and X9 Plus models. The company confirmed earlier today that the Vivo X9 and X9 Plus models will come equipped with dual front cameras. Yes, you heard it right!

It’s confirmed that the Vivo X9 will be the first commercial smartphone with dual front-facing selfie cameras. The company has also made sure its going to be powerful, as one of the cameras will be a 20MP sensor while the second one should most likely be an 8MP sensor. The dual cameras up front should function similar to the Xiaomi Redmi Pro, bringing features such as bokeh to selfies.

As for the specs, both the Vivo X9 and the X9 Plus are said to feature Snapdragon 653 chipsets with 4GB and 6GB RAM options. The Vivo X9 will most likely feature a 5.5-inch 1080p display while the X9 Plus should come with a larger 6-inch 1080p panel. There is no information about the cameras at the back, but could Vivo equip its larger Vivo X9 Plus with dual cameras at the back as well? This will take the total to four cameras on the phone! But the company is yet to confirm the rear camera details, so we better wait for more details.

Meanwhile, the Vivo X9 and X9 Plus models are said to be announced mid-November, most likely on November 17. Design wise, the new models are said to look similar to the previous generation devices from the front, however, the back is said to rock an iPhone7-like antenna design.
