Vivo has been regularly pushing the OriginOS 6 update to its devices, with the Vivo X90 and Vivo V40 Pro being the latest recipients. The Android 16-based update for these two devices is rolling out according to the official rollout schedule, which brings numerous visual changes, new features, and refinements throughout the system.

The OriginOS 6 update is rolling out to Vivo X90 users with the build version PD224ICF_EX_A_16.3.6.6.W30, and it has a download size of 4.07GB. We don’t know the firmware version for the Vivo V40 Pro, but the screenshot below (via Ytechb) confirms that the rollout has indeed begun for the device.

Vivo is currently rolling out the OriginOS 6 update to Vivo X90 and V40 Pro users through Vivo’s trial program. This is done to ensure that the final build for the masses does not contain critical bugs. If you want to install the early build, go to Settings > About Phone > System updates > version Trial > Trial version > download and install.

Ensure that your Vivo phone has sufficient storage and that it’s charged to at least 50% for smoother installation. Additionally, you can back up important data to a cloud storage or a different storage for added safety.

The OriginOS 6 is a feature-rich custom OS that brings numerous visual enhancements, exciting new features, and plenty of improvements. Perhaps the most significant visual upgrade is the new Origin Island, which provides real-time updates from supported apps.

The update also introduces a redesigned Control Center, featuring an enhanced notification center, improved lighting effects, and new system fonts for enhanced readability. The lock screen now features new clock styles, enhanced layout controls, and additional widgets. OriginOS 6 also includes numerous under-the-hood changes, resulting in faster app launches, smoother animations, enhanced multitasking capabilities, and improved battery efficiency.

With the Vivo X90 and Vivo V40 Pro now receiving the OriginOS 6 update, the brand shifts its focus to bringing the update to older Vivo V and T series phones. Soon, the update will also reach entry-level phones. According to the rollout schedule, all the remaining devices will receive the update by the end of March.

The OnePlus 12R arrived earlier this year, rocking a flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, high-quality screen, 50MP triple rear cameras, and super-fast charging support. 

The base variant with 8GB RAM is currently available for Rs. 37,999 and goes all the way up to 45,999 for the top-end model with 16GB RAM. The OnePlus “R” models are usually a trimmed version of a regular model at a discounted price. They offer a good value for the money. But in the case of OnePlus 12R, there are better alternatives from competitor brands that deliver more value at a similar price point.

Xiaomi 14 Civi is a compact flagship phone, so you don’t get a big display. It’s a little shorter than the OnePlus 12R but has more pixels and produces 68 times more colours. Notably, the OnePlus device has higher peak brightness, but the 3000 nits on the Xiaomi phone should be enough for good visibility outdoors.

Both devices have necessary connectivity features, but the OnePlus phone supports a newer Wi-Fi standard but lacks Bluetooth 5.4 support, which is available on the Xiaomi 12R. The Xiaomi 14 Civi has the disadvantage of having less battery capacity and a slower charging speed than the OnePlus 12R.  

Besides performance, the Xiaomi 14 Civi truly outshines the OnePlus 12R in the camera department. The smartphone boasts a triple rear camera setup led by a 50MP primary sensor. The other two sensors include a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and a 12MP ultrawide lens with a 120-degree field of view.

For selfies, the Xiaomi phone features two 32MP sensors. It can record up to 4K videos using both the rear and front cameras, while the OnePlus phone can only record 4K videos with its rear camera.

Both smartphones ship with Android 14 out of the box and have the same software update policy — 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches.

2. Realme GT 6

Realme GT 6 is also powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip that delivers smoother performance than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered OnePlus 12R.

The Realme phone has the same screen size and resolution as the OnePlus 12R, although it has a much higher peak brightness of 6000 nits (vs. 4500 nits on the OnePlus 12R). Both have LTPO support for variable refresh rates and have Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

Both smartphones have a 50MP primary camera and an 8MP ultrawide lens. The third rear camera on the Realme GT 6 is a 50MP telephoto lens, while the OnePlus 12R has a 2MP macro sensor, which adds little to no value to the camera setup.

Both devices take good shots using their primary camera, but the zoom shots are better on the Realme device, thanks to the telephoto lens. Overall, the Realme GT 6 has a better rear camera setup. It has a 32MP sensor with up to 4K video recording support, while the OnePlus 12R can only record 1080p videos with its selfie camera.

The OnePlus 12R and Realme GT 6 have 5,500mAh battery. However, the Realme phone supports a faster charging of 120W (vs. 100W on the OnePlus 12R).

Overall, the Realme GT 6 offers much better value than the OnePlus 12R.

3. Vivo X90

The Vivo X90 (review) is another solid alternative to the OnePlus 12R. It boasts the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chip, which is neck-to-neck with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 on the benchmarks and has barely any difference in real-life performance.

It has the same screen size as the OnePlus 12R but lacks LTPO support. The real USP of the Vivo X90 is its cameras. It rocks a triple camera setup on the back, which includes a 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. The camera setup was made in collaboration with ZEISS for better colour accuracy and image quality.

The Vivo X90 takes better photos and videos than the OnePlus 12R. On the front, it has a 32MP selfie shooter. Both smartphones can record up to 4K videos using the rear camera and 1080p videos using the selfie camera.

Both smartphones carry the same connectivity features, except for the Wi-Fi 7 support in the OnePlus 12R. The Vivo phone has a slightly lower battery capacity but supports a higher fast charging of 120W.

4. Samsung Galaxy S23

The Galaxy S23 was launched last year at a starting price of Rs 74,999. Since then, it has received multiple price cuts and is now available at Rs. 47,000, thus becoming a good alternative to consider. But it is still a little costlier than the OnePlus 12R.

The Galaxy S23 is a compact flagship phone, smaller than the OnePlus 12R. It has Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on both sides, while the OnePlus 12R has it on the front side only. The Galaxy device also has a better IP rating for dust and water resistance.

Both smartphones rock the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, so there’s no significant difference in performance. But there’s a big difference in the camera. The S23 has a more powerful camera setup, featuring a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a 10MP telephoto lens with OIS and 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide lens with a 120-degree field of view.

The Galaxy S23 has a more capable camera setup that produces better photos and videos than the OnePlus 12R. It can record up to 8K videos using its rear cameras and 4K videos using the front camera. The OnePlus 12R only supports 4K recording using the rear camera and 1080p with its front camera.

While the Galaxy S23 has powerful cameras, the battery isn’t that impressive. It’s a 3,900mAh battery with support for 25W charging. The OnePlus 12R, on the other hand, has a much larger battery capacity and supports super-fast charging. However, it lacks wireless and reverse wireless charging support that the Galaxy S23 offers.

5. Poco F6

If performance is your top priority, the Poco F6 (review) might be a great fit. It is also cheaper than the OnePlus 12R.

The Poco phone has a slightly smaller AMOLED screen but supports 68 times more colours. The peak brightness is 2400 nits, which is lower than the OnePlus 12R’s. However, the rest of the display specs are pretty similar.

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 fuels the Poco F6, which performs better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered OnePlus 12R. Since the Poco F6 is a gaming phone, it has a better cooling system and loads of gaming features. It also has faster storage, which adds to better performance.

The Poco F6 has two cameras on the back — a 50MP primary sensor and an 8MP ultrawide sensor. Like the OnePlus 12R, it can record up to 4K videos. On the front, there’s a 20MP selfie snapper.

The device houses a 5,000mAh battery and supports 90W fast charging versus a 5,500mAh battery with 120W charging on the OnePlus 12R. The OnePlus phone has a clear advantage here. However, both come with Android 14 and promise three years of Android updates.

The update, with the version number “PD2241C_A_13.0.16.31.W10.V000L1”, primarily focuses on optimizing camera stability and accuracy, improving network stability, and enhancing application performance. The Vivo X90, which was launched in China last November, has recently been introduced in India.

The camera enhancements include improved performance and stability, as well as better accuracy and consistency in light source detection for rear flash portrait shooting. This will undoubtedly provide users with a smoother and more enjoyable shooting experience.

In terms of network optimization, the update improves 5G network stability, ensuring faster and more reliable connectivity. The company had first announced its flagship series of smartphones back in 2022, and now, it has finally made its way to India, following a global release. It arrives with some impressive specs and features, so let’s have a look.

Talking about the base model first, the vanilla X90 model sports a tall 6.78 inch AMOLED display that has HDR10+ support, 120Hz refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate, 2,800x 1,260 resolution. It offers 120Hz refresh rate as well as 300Hz touch sampling rate, 20:9 aspect ratio, and 2160Hz PWM. Under the hood, the smartphone is equipped with the Dimensity 9200 SoC as well, which is paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It is powered by a slight larger 4,870mAh battery pack that also supports 120W fast charging.

While most of the specs are similar to the vanilla variant, the camera department features an upgrade. The premium phone also features a triple camera setup on the rear, but the 50 megapixel IMX866 primary sensor is paired with another 50 megapixel portrait sensor that offers 2x optical zoom, along with a 12 megapixel ultra wide angle lens. The front houses a 32 megapixel selfie camera on this model as well. Other notable features include, Bluetooth 5.2, WiFi 6, aptX HD support, stereo speakers, Hi Res Audio, Android 13 OS, and more.

Pricing & Availability

The Vivo X90 starts from 59,999 INR for its base 8GB + 256GB variant. Although, its 12GB of RAm + 256GB version costs 63,999 INR. The top end X90 Pro model is available for price of 84,999 INR. Vivo is offering a flat 8,000 INR instant discount for HDFC credit card holders and EMI transaction for the Pro variant and 5,500 discount on the base X90.

Vivo X90 series is set to launch in India on April 26th. It will include standard and pro models. The smartphones will be available from e-commerce platform Flipkart. Now, ahead of the launch, the pricing as well as RAM and storage configurations of the upcoming offerings have leaked. To recall, the Vivo X90 series debuted in November last year in China. 

Vivo X90 series variants and pricing leaked

As per a report by The Tech Outlook, the Vivo X90 will be launched in two RAM and storage variants i.e. 8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB. These are said to be priced at Rs 59,999 and Rs 63,999 respectively. On the other hand, the X90 Pro will be available in a sole 12GB + 256GB option. It is tipped to carry a price tag of Rs 84,999. 

The Indian variants of the Vivo X90 and X90 Pro are set to retain the same specifications as their Chinese and global counterparts. Both phones boast a 6.78-inch OLED display with curved edges, a center-aligned punch-hole cutout, an integrated fingerprint scanner, an FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 1,300 nits peak brightness, and HDR10+ support. The standard and Pro models are IP64 and IP68-certified water-resistant respectively. 

The Vivo X90 and X90 Pro feature a circular protruding camera module co-engineered by Vivo and Zeiss. The setup on the former consists an OIS-enabled 50MP Sony IMX866 main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide unit, and a 12MP telephoto lens. The Pro variant has a 1-inch Sony IMX989 50MP primary sensor coupled with a 50MP portrait unit and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. Both phones feature a 32MP selfie snapper and a V2 ISP engine. 

In terms of hardware, the Vivo X90 and X90 Pro are powered by a Dimensity 9200 processor coupled with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 storage. There is a vapour cooling chamber onboard for heat dissipation. The X90 draws its power from a 4,810mAh battery whereas the X90 Pro is backed by a 4,870mAh unit with both supporting 120W fast charging. The latter is also compatible with 50W wireless charging.

The Vivo X90 series is scheduled to launch in India on April 26. It will be announced at an event, which is scheduled for 12 PM IST.

The company is expected to only bring Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro to the country, leaving out the Vivo X90 Pro Plus. For the unaware, the more premium model is exclusive to China for some reason.

The X90 and X90 Pro are almost the same, except for their cameras. The Pro variant arrives with a 50MP Sony IMX989 1-inch sensor and a 50MP 2x telephoto lens. Either way, the cameras on the two devices are powered by Zeiss and Vivo V2 imaging chip.

Some of their features include a 6.78-inch 10-bit 2K 120Hz AMOLED display, a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chipset, Funtouch OS 13 based on Android 13, 120W wired charging, and more.

Infninx Smart 7 HD

The Infinix Smart 7 HD is set to launch in India on April 28 at 12 PM IST. It is said to be a toned-down version of the original Smart 7 that was released in the country in February.

This phone is expected to come with a 6.6-inch HD+ display (LCD), a dual camera system,  and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It will draw energy from a 5,000mAh battery and will be available in a 4GB+ 64GB version.

Last but not least, the handset’s design seems to be inspired by the Oppo Reno 8 Pro.

Vivo recently announced the Indian launch date of its X90 series flagship smartphones. The launch will take place on April 26. So far, rumors say that the brand will be launching the Vivo X90 and the X90 Pro smartphones in India, whereas the X90 Pro Plus will remain exclusive to China.

The Vivo X90 series smartphones boot the latest version of Android, Android 13, and feature an in-display fingerprint scanner for enhanced security. They also pack a stereo speaker setup, but do not include a 3.5mm audio jack.

In terms of cameras, the Vivo X90 packs a triple-rear camera setup with a 50MP Sony IMX866 sensor and an f/1.75 aperture. It also features a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 12MP portrait lens with a 50mm focal length and 2x optical zoom. Meanwhile, the Vivo X90 Pro sports a 50MP Sony IMX 989 sensor with a 1-inch sensor size and OIS support. It also features a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor for ultra-wide-angle functionality and a 50MP Sony IMX758 sensor with 2x optical zoom.

Both the Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro are equipped with 32MP front selfie shooters and boast powerful battery units, with the X90 having a 4810mAh battery and the X90 Pro having a slightly larger 4870mAh battery. These devices support 120W fast charging, while the Vivo X90 Pro also supports up to 50W wireless charging.

The Vivo X90 series made its initial debut in China in late November. Two months later, the devices are scheduled to go global later this week.

Two of these phones, namely Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro, are set to launch in Malaysia on February 3. Ahead of that, a leak has disclosed when this duo will be making its way to India.

According to the sources of MySmartPrice, the Vivo X90 series will launch in India in Q2 2023. The company will debut only the two models (Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro) that are set to set to release in Malaysia a few days from now.

It’s not known why the brand is not bringing its top-of-the-line Vivo X90 Pro Plus to the international markets. Perhaps, it may be introduced later but as of now, it’s not getting a global launch.

The Vivo X80 series was released in India in May 2022. Hence, there’s a chance that the Vivo X90 series may debut in the country around May 2023.

The Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro share most of their specs. They only differ in terms of cameras, battery, and charging. In fact, the two phones even look identical.

However, when you compare them side by side, you can notice that the camera module on the Pro model is larger. That’s because the X90 Pro arrives with bigger-sized primary and telephoto cameras. 

The Pro variant also has a slightly larger battery. Lastly, it even offers support for wireless charging, which is missing in the vanilla version.

As per multiple leaks, we know that the Galaxy S23 family will include three devices, namely Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. The former two will be more identical than ever before and the latter will come with a new 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP2 primary sensor.

All three will be powered by a customized Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. This silicon is expected to be called Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy.

Vivo X90 Series

The Vivo X90 series will make its way to global markets on February 3. It will be initially unveiled in Malaysia on the said day.

The company is expected to debut only two models, namely Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro. Since these phones are on sale in China for about two months, we know everything about them.

They come with a 6.78-inch 10-bit 120Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels, a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC, Zeiss-powered camera system, dual stereo speakers, an IR blaster, 120W fast wired charging, and more.

It’s not known if and when Vivo X90 Pro Plus will be introduced outside mainland China.

Infinix Zero 5G 2023

The Infinix Zero 5G 2023 is set to launch in India on February 4. Since the device is already official in several markets, everything about it is out.

The handset arrives with a 6.78-inch 120Hz display (LCD), a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chip, a 50MP main camera, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 5,000mAh battery, and 33W fast wire charging support.

The brand has also partnered with Marvel Studios to celebrate the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania. Hence, it will be also releasing a special gift box of Infinix Zero 5G 2023 themed after the forthcoming movie.

The global release of the Vivo X90 series is expected very soon. Late last year, Vivo released its premium smartphone line in China. Although the global launch date of the X90 series is unknown, according to the leaked information, the X90 series Malaysia launch event will be on February 3, according to the leaked information.

Before the X90 series’ formal unveiling, tipster Paras Guglani (via MySmartPrice) revealed some important information. AnTuTu score information, sale offers, color choices, and other information on two phones have all been provided by the tipper. Only the standard X90 and X90 Pro 5G will be released by Vivo in Malaysia, and it’s probable that additional markets will follow suit.

Vivo X90 Series global variant details

According to the report, the X90 Pro 5G global variant will launch in a single Legendary Black color option. It will have a back panel made of vegan leather. On the other hand, the X90 5G will come in Breeze Blue and Asteroid Black. To encourage people to preorder the phone between January 27 and February 23, the company will give away a few bonuses. These consist of gift cards, phone cases, etc.

The X90 Pro global variant has an AnTuTu score of 12,60,000. Additionally, the report states the device will debut with a 12GB RAM and 256GB storage option. The MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC, which is the same as the Chinese model, will also be included in the X90 series global variant when it debuts.

The brand is yet to officially announce details about the X90 series’s global availability. It also remains to be seen if Vivo will announce all three X90 models at the same event.

Vivo X90 series global launch date has been seemingly confirmed. Tipster Techno Ankit has shared a launch event poster of the X90 series on Twitter. It reveals that the flagship smartphones will debut in the global markets on January 31st 2023. The Vivo X90 series was released in China last month. The brand is yet to officially announce anything regarding the smartphone’s global availability. 

The launch poster shared by the tipster says Vivo X90 series, however it remains unclear whether all three devices inclunding the standard, Pro, and Pro+ models will be unveiled. If the Vivo X90 Pro+ is launched, it will be the world’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered smartphone globally. 

The global variants of the Vivo X90 series are expected to come with the same specifications as their Chinese counterpart. The Vivo X90 lineup features a 6.78-inch centre-aligned punch-hole AMOLED display with curved edges, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and a fingerprint scanner. The vanilla and Pro models offer 1.5K resolution whereas the Pro+ has a QHD+ panel. All three devices come with a circular camera module. 

On the optics front, the Vivo X90 and X90 Pro has triple rear cameras. Both devices have a 50MP main sensor and 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The third unit on the regular model is 12MP whereas the Pro has a 50MP telephoto shooter. 

Internally, the Vivo X90 and X90 Pro are powered by a Dimensity 9200 SoC whereas the Pro+ is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. All three devices pack up to 12GB RAM and 512GB onboard storage. The X90 and X90 Pro are backed by a 4,810 and 4,890mAh battery with support for 120W charging. The Pro Plus has a 4,700mAh cell with 80W charging. The X90 lineup also supports 50W wireless charging.

This is the new Vivo X90, which is the new standard variant of the Vivo X flagship lineup. It’s quite interesting that we might have shifted our greatest attention from the Xiaomi digital series to the Vivo X series. Because there’s no brand having such an efficient upgraded speed as Vivo over flagship development. Preceded by the X80 in the spring, the X90 is their second generation model, launched in 2022. Compared to the X90 Pro and Pro plus variants, the standard model is also a heavyweight product with a few upgrades. So today, let’s just focus on the Vivo X90 and explore why Vivo has become one of the hottest phone brands, even though the market is inevitably declining this year.

If you’ve learned the specs on paper of the X90, you might find that the X90 didn’t get many upgrades compared with the X80. It got upgraded to a BOE display with a higher resolution and 2160Hz PWM dimming, a debuted MTK Dimensity 9200 chipset, 120W faster supercharge, and the new IP64-rating water and dust-proofness. Although it seems the X90 is using the same camera module, we’re pretty impressed by its shooting experience, both in taking photos and shooting videos. That’s probably due to its new Zeiss T-coating for all the triple lenses and the new V2 imaging chip. We will talk more about it later in the camera part.

The X90 keeps the same pricing as the X80. What’s important to know is that the X80 has been very popular and firmly priced for most of the year. And now, whether the X80 can have a price-cut promotion depends on how the X90 performs.

Design

Over the phone appearance, the X90 still continues the polished style of the series, but it looks neater on the back due to the simplified camera arrangement. The rectangular panel under the camera module is removed, but it’s still visually divided into two parts. To be honest, it’s not much surprising when seeing the left-rounded module, since we’ve seen similar central-rounded ones on Huawei and Xiaomi’s premium phones. Their designs are just too similar to each other.

Specifically, the black variant in my hand still looks good, but it’s just too slippery when holding it in hand. Without a protective case, I have to hold it very carefully to prevent it from slipping and falling to the ground.

1260p Display

On the front, it still has a whole edge-curved 6.78-inch display. The BOE Q9 120Hz hole-punched screen has a 1260p resolution and a peak brightness of 1300 nits, which I think is a great solution to balance power consumption and display quality.

The 2160Hz PWM dimming can offer a much more comfortable visual experience under low-light conditions than most Samsung panels this year. And now you are able to adjust both refresh rate and touch sampling in specific apps and games. The X90 features a maximum touch sampling rate of 300Hz and it would be limited to 120Hz by default. But you can manually add any apps into the game space, and free the touch sampling rate up to 240 or 300 Hz in the sidebar. For example, in Facebook you will definitely feel the difference as I did immediately.

The X90 series add a Zeiss Natural color mode for P3 gamut colors, which offers a pretty decent color accuracy, just like the professional mode for the sRGB gamut. The measured average delta E of both modes can be kept below 1.

The V2 imaging chip also brings a new feature for the display: the AI Smart eye protection, which can reduce blue light in real-time, keeping a balance between eye protection and the true colors. It doesn’t look as warm as the traditional eye protection mode, and I pretty much enjoy it.

Another great experience is with the phone’s HDR management. Vivo’s Origin OS is one of the few systems that can do multi-window HDR management like iPhone and Huawei. I can still have the correct HDR display even when the HDR content is played in small window mode.

Experience

This time the standard model is still equipped with an optical in-screen fingerprint reader but not the ultrasonic one as the Pro and Pro +, which doesn’t have the impressive recognition speed that we have on the X80 Pro. The adding is still slow and inefficient.

The haptic vibration is still good, not much different from the x80’s. And I’m a bit disappointed by the dual-speaker sound quality, which is good but not really improved from the X80’s. And to be honest, I wouldn’t even give it the same score. Anyway, you can check out here by yourselves.

Vivo X90 Performance – debut of Dimensity 9200

The debut of the Dimensity 9200 chipset is the core upgrade of the X90. Thanks to the excellent performance of the Dimensity 9000, more phone brands choose to trust this new MTK flagship chipset. But it’s difficult for me to tell you whether the X90 in my hand has fully realized all the chipset’s potential since the 128GB model is the only variant that still uses UFS3.1 storage, instead of the latest UFS4.0. And also pay attention to the charging port here: for data transferring, it only supports USB 2.0 on all the Standard X90 models, while the USB 3.2 is available for the X90 Pro and Pro Plus.  

Anyway, let’s look at some benchmarks. In Geekbench 5, compare to the Dimensity 9000, there’s not much improvement for the multi-core performance of the 9200, but the Cortex X3 super core did achieve a 15% boost in the single-core test. While in Antutu Benchmark, it didn’t get the improvement that we expected. But it’s still one of the highest scores we can get on a phone in 2022.

In 3Dmark GPU test, the result is a bit more exciting since it easily exceeded what an iPhone 14 Pro’s A16 chip can run. So there’s no doubt that most gaming tests are already pointless for the X90. Here we’d like to show the result of Genshin Impact and probably you will know what I mean.

The X90 can achieve an average framerate of 58.5fps under the highest graphics with a pretty efficient power output of 5.88W, and there’s no obvious throttling during the whole 30-min gaming and the temperature was still acceptable. This is the new best result in our Genshin Impact test on Android phones.

And in 3Dmark’s graphic stress test, it failed to finish the test for the first time due to an overheating issue, but in a cooler environment, it achieved over 90% performance stability for the 20-round test, while the phone was still hot.  

Software

As for the Origin OS, now I have less to complain about. The UI aesthetic is still special and full of detail, and it’s still one of the smoothest Android systems with super-fast responses and comfortable animation. There’re fewer language errors when the system language is set to English, though we can still find the language failing to switch in the game space.

Cameras

Well at the beginning we didn’t really expect much on its camera performance since the phone retains the same camera hardware as the X80, still the same triple-lenses led by the 50MP IMX866 sensor, companied with a 12MP wide-angle lens and another 12MP portrait lens.

All three lenses present more rigorous and natural colors if you activate the Zeiss mode, which finally offers another image style outside Vivo’s vivid tradition. But you still can turn it off. From the comparison, it’s easy to find the difference between colors. However, there’s no obvious improvement in detail. And the auto HDR mode is also more cautiously activated, no longer pursuing a rich color atmosphere. But we also found that it would tend to choose a darker exposure strategy during day time.

But things changed when we shoot at night. In extreme low-light conditions, it’s very aggressively exposed and looks much brighter than in the real environment. If not showing the shooting time here, it’s really hard to convince you that it’s shot at the midnight. But thanks to the new Zeiss T coating and the V2 imaging chip, the night photos and videos were enhanced with less light reflection and less stray light. And meanwhile, even though it got significantly brightened, the amazing denoising capacity still brings excellent detail pureness for shadow parts.

The 2x portrait lens worked well in most cases. But in complex scenes, it’s still not accurate enough to recognize the right subject and have the right background blurring.

Battery & charge

The Vivo X90 comes with a 4800mAh battery with 120W fast charging. As a flagship killer powered by one of the most powerful chipsets, the result of the battery-life test is not bad, which is even slightly better than some models powered by the Snapdragon 8+. For charging, the X90’s 120W fast charging is a bit conservative, collecting back 100% of power in 27 mins.

Conclusion

So that’s all about the new X90. Although I pointed out a few drawbacks, it doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s about to become one of the best flagship killers of 2023. A couple of weeks back, Vivo debuted the Vivo X90 series of flagship smartphones in the Chinese market. The series consists of three models in total: the Vivo X90, X90 Pro, and X90 Pro+. These flagship smartphones are expected to debut in markets outside of China soon, as multiple certifications have already hinted.

Now, the vanilla X90 has been spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards certification website, confirming that it will launch soon in the sub-continent. The listing reveals that the smartphone has the model number V2218, which is the global model number for the Vivo X90.

There is no additional information about the Vivo X90 in the BIS listing. But given that the phone has already been released in China, we anticipate that it will also be released in India with the same hardware.

Vivo X90 Specifications

The device sports a 6.78-inch centered punch-hole 10-bit curved OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, a resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels, and a pixel density of 452 PPI. 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and PWM dimming up to 2160Hz are supported by the panel.

The cutting-edge MediaTek Dimenity 9200 chipset powers the smartphone. The SoC is coupled with UFS 4.0 storage and LPDDR5 RAM. Additionally, it has a Vivo V2 ISP chip.

Regarding optics, the device has a triple camera arrangement on the back that is powered by Zeiss. The system has a 50MP Sony IMX866 primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP 2x telephoto camera. It will have a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.

The system launches OriginOS 3 on top of Android 13. Dual stereo speakers, an x-axis linear vibration motor, and an IP64 rating are further features. Sadly, it comes with a USB Type-C 2.0 port.

The phone’s 4,810mAh battery is backed by 120W fast wired charging capability, which is the final but not least feature.

Vivo had just recently announced its X90 series of flagship smartphones in its home market of China. Now, it appears that the company is gearing up for an Indian launch as well, after the Indian variant of the X90 was spotted receiving certification online. So here are all the details.

For those unaware, the X90 lineup consists of three models, which includes the X90, X90 Pro, and X90 Pro+. The base X90 model for the Indian market was just spotted on the Bluetooth SIG website, which hints at its imminent launch. Looking at the online listing, the Vivo X90 was certified on the Bluetooth SIG with the model number V2218. This also hints at the launch of the device in the global market as well.

While the certification shows a global and Indian variant, this model is likely not different in terms of specifications from the model released in China. Unfortunately, the Bluetooth SIG listing does not reveal any finer details regarding the premium grade smartphone, but we already have the Chinese model for such details. The device will likely sport a 6.78 inch Q9 OLED Display that has a Full HD+ resolution, HDR10+, 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 1,300 nits of peak brightness.

Under the hood, the device is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC that is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The Vivo X(0 runs on Android 13 OS based OriginOS 3.0 out of the box. The rear features a 50 megapixel triple camera setup on the rear and a 32 megapixel selfie shooter on the front. The device has a large 4,810mAh battery pack that also supports an impressive 120W fast charging as well.

It is an AMOLED panel with one billion colors, a diagonal of 6.78 inches, an 1.5 K resolution of 1260 x 2800 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate without the LTPO technology, HDR10+ certification, and a peak brightness of 1,300 nits.

Specs & Software

In terms of hardware, these three devices are more or less at the same level. The Vivo X90 and the Pro variant are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 mobile platform built with a 4 nm production process and running at a max frequency of 3.05 GHz. Alongside the latest flagship chipset by Mediatek, there are up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. With the Vivo X90 Pro Plus, you get an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset built at 4 nm and running at a max frequency of 3.2 GHz: it is currently the best processor by Qualcomm and it is at the same level as the Dimensity 9200. The highest-end memory configuration is the same, with 12 GB RAM and 512 GB of UFS 4 storage. All the phones run Android 13 with either Funtouch OS or Origin OS depending on the region.

Camera

The Vivo X90 Pro Plus comes with the best camera, including a 50.3 MP main sensor, a 64 MP periscope camera, a 50 MP telephoto lens, and a 48 MP ultrawide shooter. The X90 Pro takes the silver medal with a 50.3 MP main camera, a 50 MP telephoto lens, and a 12 MP ultrawide shooter. The vanilla version is the worst with a 50 + 12 + 12 MP triple camera including a telephoto sensor and an ultrawide lens.

Last week, Vivo unveiled the Vivo X90 series of smartphones. The X90 and X90 Pro debuted as the world’s first phones featuring the Dimensity 9200. The X90 Pro+ is the first-ever phone to house the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The X90 Pro and X90 Pro+ are scheduled to go on sale on Dec. 6. However, the vanilla model is available for purchase starting today in the home market.

The Vivo X90 is now available in China in five variants, 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage, 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage, and 12 GB RAM + 512 GB storage. These models are priced at 3,699 Yuan (~$518), 3,999 Yuan (~$560), 4,499 Yuan (~$630), and 4,999 Yuan (~$699), respectively. It comes in red, black, and blue colors.

In China, it can be bought through Vivo China’s online store, JD.com, and Tmall. Those who wish to purchase Vivo X90 Chinese variant can also head to Giztop, where it is listed for $599.

Vivo X90 specifications

The Vivo X90 has a 6.78-inch curved OLED display with a punch-hole in the centre. It offers a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, a resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels, 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut, and up to 2160Hz PWM dimming. The Dimensity 9200 chipset powers the smartphone with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The 128GB base model has UFS 3.1 storage, while the other models have UFS 4.0.

As scheduled, Vivo announced the Vivo X90 series in China today. The latest flagship smartphone lineup from the company consists of three models, namely Vivo X90, Vivo X90 Pro, and Vivo X90 Pro Plus. They bring minor upgrades over the Vivo X80 series.

Vivo X90 Specifications

The Vivo X90 looks similar to the Pro models. It has a giant circular camera module on the rear and a curved display on the front. There’s also a strip on the back with the text ‘Xtreme Imagination.’

The device comes in two finishes. One of the colors has a leather back, while the remaining two have a glass back.

The phone flaunts a 6.78-inch centered punch-hole 10-bit curved OLED display with a resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels, 452 PPI, and up to a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel supports up to a 2160Hz PWM dimming and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut.

The smartphone is powered by the latest MediaTek Dimesnity 9200 chipset. The SoC is paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. It also comes with Vivo V2 ISP chip.

Vivo is all set to launch its latest generation of flagship smartphones later today (22nd November 2022). The company is hosting a launch conference in China in the evening, so here’s how to watch the announcement event for the Vivo X90 series.

The X90 series will consist of three high end smartphones, which includes the X90, X90 Pro, and X90 Pro+ models. Vivo will be showcasing the premium devices in its home market of China, with the announcement beginning at 7 pm China time. The Chinese smartphone maker will be hosting a livestream event for this launch, which will be streamed on multiple platforms, including some e-commerce websites in China. Vivo is all set to launch its flagship smartphones under the new Vivo X90 series. The company has scheduled a launch event on 22nd November, i.e. tomorrow, in its home country China to announce the new phones.

Ahead of the official launch tomorrow, the top-end model in the lineup — Vivo X90 Pro+, has been leaked through the Geekbench benchmarking platform, revealing some key details about the phone.

The Geekbench listing reveals that the Vivo X90 Pro+ smartphone with model number Vivo V2227a is powered by 12GB of RAM and has managed to score 1,480 points in the single-core test while it scored 5,106 points in the multi-core test.

For those who are unaware, the smartphone will be powered by the recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which is manufactured using the 4nm process. The chipset will be paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The smartphone will be featuring a 6.7-inch 1260p AMOLED panel that will offer a 120Hz refresh rate and 300Hz touch sampling rate.

In the camera department, there will be a quad-camera setup consisting of a 1-inch 50MP Sony IMX989V primary sensor accompanied by a 64MP OmniVision OV64A telephoto lens. There’s also a 48MP Sony IMX598 ultra-wide-angle lens and a 50MP Sony IMX578 portrait lens. On the front side, there’s a 32 MP shooter on the front.

We expect the smartphone to come running the Android 13 operating system with the company’s own custom user interface on top. The device will most likely come packed with a 4,700mAh battery and offer 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging support.

Chinese major brands Vivo, Honor, and Oppo have scheduled press conferences for the next week. They have confirmed to announce multiple phones at these events.

These products will be made official in China. They are expected to make their way to other markets later.

Let’s take a look at these handsets one by one.

Upcoming Smartphones Next Week

Vivo X90 Series

The Vivo X90 series launch event is scheduled for  November 22 (Tuesday). It will begin at 7 PM GMT+8 and will be live-streamed on popular Chinese video streaming platforms and social media.

The lineup is expected to include three models, namely Vivo X90, Vivo X90 Pro, and Vivo X90 Pro Plus. The former two are said to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC, while the latter will house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 underneath it.

All three phones are expected to come with a dedicated Vivo V2 ISP chip. Though they will have different camera setups, all of them will feature Zeiss T* coating lenses and software Zeiss image processing.

The Vivo X90 series is said to boot OriginOS 3 based on Android 13 and will carry support for 120W fast wired charging.

Honor 80 Series and Honor Magic Vs

Honor’s launch conference is planned for November 23 (Wednesday). It will start at 2:30 PM GMT+8. The event will be live-streamed on Chinese social media and video streaming platforms.

Honor has confirmed to unveil the Honor 80 series and Honor Magic Vs. The former is a lineup of upper mid-range smartphones, whereas the latter is a foldable phone.

At least two Honor 80 models are expected, such as Honor 80  and Honor 80 Pro. There could be a third one called Honor 80 Pro Plus. The former two are said to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 782G (unannounced) and Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen1 chipsets, respectively.

The Honor 80 Pro or Pro Plus is expected to feature dual 50MP front-facing cameras and a 160MP primary camera.  On the other hand, the Honor Magic Vs will be a refreshed Honor Magic V with some spec upgrades.

Oppo Reno 9 Series

The Oppo Reno 9 series is scheduled to launch in China on November 24 (Thursday). The conference will be live-streamed on leading Chinese video streaming platforms and social media from 2:30 PM GMT+8.

The Oppo Reno 9 series is tipped to consist of three handsets, namely Oppo Reno 9, Oppo Reno 9 Pro, and Oppo Reno 9 Pro Plus. These three phones are said to be powered by Snapdragon 778G, Dimensity 8100-Max, and Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chips, respectively.

The vanilla and Pro variants will be backed by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 67W fast wired charging. While the Pro Plus model will house a 4,700mAh battery and carry support for 80W fast wired charging.

All three of them will flaunt a curved 120Hz display. However, only the Pro versions will come with the MariSilicon X ISP chip.

For the past few days, the Vivo X90 series has been circulating online. The gadgets are in the works and won’t be released officially for some time. Up until now, the unreleased Vivo X90 family of smartphones has been the subject of countless renders and leaks. Now that some of the upcoming Vivo X90 lineup’s specifications have been officially verified. We now have some information that we can properly rely on.

The Vivo has officially confirmed that the vanilla Vivo X90 from the lineup will bring support for up to 120W fast wired charging. Moreover, the brand also confirms that the users will get an option to choose between two different displays; the Samsung E6 and BOE Q9 panel. Both displays will bring support 2,160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. The official teasers also reveal the overall look of the device, which is in line with the recently leaked renders.

The Geekbench listing of the device confirms that it will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC. It will be available in 8GB, 12GB and 16GB of RAM options and 128GB, 256GB and 512GB of storage configurations. The device will flaunt a 6.78-inches OLED panel with 1260*2800 pixel resolution with a 20:9 aspect ratio. It will further come with an in-display fingerprint scanner for added biometrics and security.

As for the cameras, the Vivo X-series of smartphones are well known for that, Vivo X90 will feature a triple rear camera setup with a 50-megapixels Sony IMX758 primary camera, a 12-megapixels secondary ultrawide lens and a 12-megapixel tertiary telephoto lens. The ZEISS*T coating and the new Vivo V2 ISP will be further added for an upgraded camera experience.

Vivo X90, X90 Pro, X90 Pro+, and Vivo TWS 3 earbuds will be unveiled on Nov. 22 in China. In recent days, the 3C authority of China has approved a couple of Vivo phones with model numbers V2241A, V2242A, and V2227A. These devices are believed to be the Vivo X90, X90 Pro, and X90 Pro+. In a new development, the V2241A has been certified by the TENAA authority of China. As usual, the listing (via. TechGoing) has revealed all the major specs of the phone.

Vivo X90 specifications (rumored)

The Vivo X90 is fitted with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display that offers 1260 x 2800 pixels resolution, 10-bit colors, and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The images of the device have not yet appeared in the TENAA listing. However, its design is no secret, as leaked renders have already revealed how it looks and in what colors it will be made available.

The TENAA listing of the Vivo X90 reveals that it is powered by a 3.05GHz octa-core processor, which is nothing but the Dimensity 9200 chipset. The handset will arrive with 8 GB / 12 GB / 16 GB of RAM and 128 GB / 256 GB / 512 GB of built-in storage. It will come preloaded with the Android 13 OS, which will be overlaid with the OriginOS 3 UI.

The device packs a 2,345mAh dual-cell battery (4,800mAh could be the typical value). The 3C certification of the device that surfaced at the beginning of this month revealed that it may support 120W fast charging. For selfies, it will feature a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. On the back of the device, there will be a triple camera unit with a 50-megapixel main camera, which could be a Sony IMX8-series sensor, a 12-megapixel portrait lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom.

The Vivo X90 will have an IR blaster, among other connectivity features. It measures 164.10 x 74.44 x 8.8mm and weighs 196 grams. As can be seen in the above-shown leaked renders, the X90 will be available in black, blue, and red colors.

Real-life images of the Pro and Pro+ models have been shared by tipster Ice Universe to showcase their front designs and key specifications.

The live shots of the Vivo X90 Pro and X90 Pro+ show that these devices will feature a punch-hole display with curved edges. Both models will come preloaded with the OriginOS 3, which will be overlaid on the Android 13 OS. Both devices will arrive with 8 GB of virtual RAM.

The images reveal that the Vivo X90 Pro has the Dimensity 9200 chipset. It will arrive with 8GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Leaked information that surfaced earlier this week claimed that it will also come in two more variants, such as 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage, and 12 GB RAM + 512 GB storage.

The image further reveals that the X90 Pro+ is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform. The device will offer 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of native storage. As per a recent leak, it will also come in a higher variant offering 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The images also reveal that the X90 Pro and X90 Pro+ will be equipped with the company’s in-house V2 ISP.

Vivo is confirmed to launch its next generation of flagship smartphones called the Vivo X90 series on November 22. The series is said to have three devices in the lineup which are – the Vivo X90, the Vivo X90 Pro, and the Vivo X90 Pro+. The vanilla and Pro models are expected to feature the Dimensity 9200 chipset while the Pro+ model is rumored to feature the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.

Out of these models, the Vivo X90 has appeared on Geekbench (via) revealing some key information about the device. The listing is marked with the model number V2243A, which we already know is corresponding to the Vivo X90. The MediaTek MT6985 octa-core chipset drives it. It consists of a single 3.05GHz CPU core, three 2.85GHz CPU cores, and four 1.80GHz CPU cores. This is almost certainly the Dimensity 9200.

The Vivo X90’s listing on Geekbench reveals that it has 12GB of RAM. The device’s operating system is Android 13, which will probably be covered by OriginOS 3. The computer received 1353 points on Geekbench 5’s single-core test. It scored 4055 points on the multi-core test. The listing does not reveal any further specifications, so let’s take a look at what’s known so far about the X90.

Vivo X90 Specifications

According to reports, the Vivo X90 will sport an under-display fingerprint scanner and a flat OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. A 4,700mAh battery with 120W fast charging capabilities will power it.

It is anticipated that the device will be available in a variety of configurations, including 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, 12GB RAM + 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM + 512GB storage. Black, blue, and red are the three colorways that will be offered.

Vivo is all set to launch the Vivo X90 series of smartphones on Nov. 22 in China. The Vivo X90, X90 Pro, and X90 Pro+ are among the three phones in the lineup. However, it has not released each of the renders for the above-mentioned smartphones. 91mobiles has published the leaked official renders of the Vivo X90 and X90 Pro+ to reveal their designs and color variants.

On the front, the Vivo X90 and X90 Pro+ have an identical look as they feature a curved-edge OLED display with curved edges and a centrally positioned punch-hole. On the back, the X90 and X90 Pro+ can be seen flaunting a round-shaped camera module housing a quad-camera setup.

The only major difference in terms of design between the two is that the X90 Pro has a smaller camera module as compared to the Pro+ variant. The red variants of both smartphones seem to feature a leather back. Below the camera module, there is a horizontal strip with “Xtreme Imagination” and “Vivo | Zeiss co-engineered” texts.

The black and blue variants of the X90 and X90 Pro+ have a matte look. It appears that both phones could be fitted with a glass back. The right edge of both devices has a power button and a volume rocker.

Unfortunately, there are no images of the Vivo X90 Pro model. In all likelihood, the X90 Pro could sport a similar design as the X90 and X90 Pro+. As can be seen in the above renders, the overall design of the X90 series is not too different from the Vivo X80 lineup, which debuted earlier this year. Reports have claimed that the X90 and X90 Pro will have the Dimensity 9200 chipset, whereas the X90 Pro+ will get the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

We have been hearing about the upcoming X90 series for the last few days. Yesterday, the company may have hinted at the chipset powering these phones.

MediaTek unveiled the Dimensity 9200 SoC yesterday. It is the Taiwanese chipmaker’s latest premium mobile chipset.

Soon after the announcement, Vivo officially disclosed that it will release a smartphone housing this chip. Unfortunately, the brand did not reveal the name of the device.

Whylab, a popular Chinese tech media, says that the Dimenisty 9200 chipset could power the forthcoming Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro. In the same Weibo post, it also notes that the Vivo X90 Pro and Vivo X90 Pro Plus may feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.

This means the Vivo X90 Pro could be available in both Dimensity and Snapdragon variants. The information provided by Whylab could be mostly true as the outlet is known for reliable leaks.

Aside from this, a live image leak from yesterday revealed that the Vivo X90 Pro+ will be available in red color with a leather finish. WhyLab has also shared what seems to be an official teaser of the design (the picture attached above) along with the aforementioned chipset details.

 We are expecting more leaks on the Vivo X90 series in the coming days. Perhaps, Vivo may also start teasing the features officially.

Vivo and its sub-brand iQOO are reportedly planning to launch multiple devices, such as the Vivo X90 series, iQOO 11 series, and iQOO Neo 7 SE smartphone, in November and December. A new Vivo smartphone with model number V2241A has been approved by China’s 3C authority. In all likelihood, it could be one of the aforementioned Vivo or iQOO smartphones.

As can be seen in the image below, the Vivo phone that has been approved by the 3C authority has the V2241A model number (via. TechGoing). To recall, the 3C regulatory body had approved the Vivo V2238A phone the previous week. Both phones have been spotted with a 120W fast charger. Hence, it is not easy to speculate on the final moniker of both devices.

According to a recent report, the Vivo X90 Pro and X90 Pro+ heading to China have V2242A and V2227A model numbers, respectively. The model number of the vanilla Vivo X90 is yet to be revealed.

The iQOO 11 and iQOO 11 Pro have V2243A and V2254A model numbers. However, the model number of the iQOO Neo 7 SE are not known yet. Interestingly, the Vivo X90 as well as the Neo 7 SE are expected to support 120W fast charging.

Hence, it appears that the V2241A and V2238A could be associated with the Vivo X90 and iQOO Neo 7 SE or vice-versa. Except for these two models, none of the above-mentioned models has received 3C certification. Now that the V2241A and V2238A are 3C approved, both phones are expected to appear on the TENAA certification platform with their key specifications in the next few days.

Vivo X90 series is expected to launch before the end of this year. Rumors are rife that the Vivo X90 and X90 Pro will come equipped with the Dimensity 9200, which is set to launch on Nov. 8. The X90 Pro+ is likely to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which will go official on Nov. 15.

According to a report by Pricebaba, the Vivo phones with model numbers V2242A and V2227A will arrive in the Chinese market with the Vivo X90 Pro and X90 Pro+ monikers. The report has no information on the model number of the standard Vivo X90 handset.

The report further mentions that the Vivo X90 and X90 Pro will have V2218 and V2219 model numbers in the global markets, including India. The report does not mention the model number of the global edition of the X90 Pro+.

All the above-mentioned model numbers have surfaced through firmware files. The report further states that the firmware development of the Vivo X90 (China variant) and the Vivo X90 Pro+ (global variant) has not started yet. So, it appears that it may take some time for the model numbers of these devices to be confirmed.

The report does not say anything about the specifications of the Vivo X90 series. A recent said that the X90 has a 1.5K AMOLED screen, a 4,700mAh battery, and a 120W rapid charging feature. It also has a Sony IMX8-series camera.

The X90 Pro+, on the other hand, will feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED LPTO 120Hz 2K display, LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, a 4,700mAh battery with 80W charging, and a quad-camera setup that includes a 50-megapixel Sony IMX989 main camera, a 48-megapixel Sony IMX598 ultra-wide lens, a 50-megapixel Sony IMX578 portrait lens, and an OmniVision OV64A periscope zoom lens with support for 3.5x optical zoom.

Vivo has confirmed speculations that the X90 series will feature the new Zeiss lenses for improved camera output. Vivo has provided images of the upcoming hardware in the X90 lineup. The X90 series will come with primary cameras with more efficient light-sensitive sensors (up to 77%) and support for artificial intelligence (AI) to maximize quality.

The top model in the X90 series is the Vivo X90 Pro Plus which is rumored to be equipped with four high-megapixel cameras. The release of the camera samples preceded the actual release of the Vivo X90 lineup and reflects the OEM’s aim to focus on camera capabilities for the X90. Vivo made a similar move when the X80 Pro was released. Vivo says that all models in the X90 lineup will have primary cameras that are 77% more light-sensitive than the ISOCELL GNV. The ISOCELL GNV was a custom-made sensor with a 1/1.3-inch optical format and an f/1.57 aperture.

The Vivo X90’s new sensor is claimed to operate at up to ISO 102,400 which is quite massive. This allows the smartphone to shoot nightscapes without a tripod stand or a long exposure. However, the high ISO rating reduces the dynamic range and increases image noise as shown in the images. The images also reflect up to 3.5x magnification and an AI algorithm that recognizes 103 facial features. The AI algorithm also can adjust the background and applies intelligent beauty filters.

Vivo is yet to provide details on the release date of the X90 series. How many models will feature in the X90 lineup is also unclear.

The rumor mill is now actively spilling details of the Vivo X90 series. Yesterday, tipster Digital Chat Station revealed the key specifications of the Vivo X90. Now, the entire specifications of the Vivo X90 Pro have leaked in a new report by TechGoing.

According to the publication, the Vivo X90 Pro+ will come equipped with a 6.78-inch AMOLED E6 display supplied by Samsung. The screen will support a 2K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1440Hz high-frequency dimming. While it is not mentioned in the leak, the Pro+ may come with ultrasonic an and under-display fingerprint scanner.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be present under the hoof of the Vivo X90 Pro+ The report states that there will not be a Dimensity chipset variant of the X90 Pro+. The publication claimed that the Vivo X90 and the X90 Pro come equipped with the Dimensity 9200 mobile platform.

Coming to the camera department, the Vivo X90 Pro+ will have a quad-camera unit headlined by a 50-megapixel Sony IMX989V 1-inch camera sensor. The main snapper will be accompanied by a 48-megapixel Sony IMX598 ultra-wide camera, a 50-megapixel Sony IMX578 portrait lens, and an OmniVision OV64A periscope zoom camera with support for a 3.5x optical zoom and 10 x hybrid zoom. The Vivo V2 ISP will be onboard for a better photography experience. The leak has no information on the front-facing camera of the X90 Pro+.

Other reports have claimed that the Vivo X90 Pro+ will arrive with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Hence, it may offer up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. It remains to be seen whether the device will come with OriginOS 3.0 based Android 13 OS. It will draw power from a 4,700mAh battery that will have support for 80W charging
