Vivo has officially launched the Y500 Pro, a new mid-range smartphone that blends capable performance with exceptional battery life. The brand’s latest Y series model brings a massive battery pack, a MediaTek Dimensity chipset, and an approachable price tag. So here are all the details.

The Chinese tech giant just announced the Vivo Y500 Pro in its home market. It sports a 6.67-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, slim 1.37mm bezels, and up to 5000 nits of peak brightness. Under the hood, this device is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 SoC, which is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

A massive 7000mAh battery pack powers the Vivo Y500 Pro, which supports 90W wired fast charging. Despite its large battery capacity, the smartphone measures just 7.81mm thick and weighs 198 grams. Earlier today, Vivo confirmed that the Vivo Y500 Pro will be unveiled on Nov. 10 in China. Apart from confirming the launch date, the brand has also revealed a few key specifications, such as the display, primary camera, battery, and design. Now, in a new development, the device has emerged in the database of China Telecom’s product library, revealing the remaining details of the phone.

Vivo Y500 Pro specifications

As per the China Telecom listing, the Vivo Y500 Pro has a 6.67-inch display that supports a 1.5K resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels. It also mentions that the device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400, which is listed with its model number MT687T. The device has also appeared on Geekbench with the said chipset.

The listing states that the Vivo Y500 Pro will be released in configurations such as 12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB in China. It further reveals that it has a 32-megapixel front camera and an OIS-enabled 200-megapixel (Samsung HP5) + 2-megapixel dual-camera setup in the round camera island on the back.

The images of the Y500 Pro suggest that it could be equipped with a single speaker. It is officially confirmed to house a 7,000mAh battery and is expected to support 90W wired charging.

In terms of design, the Vivo Y500 Pro has a plastic frame and a glass back. It is officially confirmed to offer IP68/69-rated dust and water resistance.

The Vivo Y500 Pro has dimensions of 160.23 x 74.51 x 7.81mm and weighs around 198 grams. It will be available in four colours: Light Green, Titanium Black, Soft Pink, and Auspicious Cloud Gold.

There is no information available about the Vivo Y500 Pro’s price for China. To recall, its previous generation was priced at 2,199 Yuan (~$310). Likely, the Y500 Pro may arrive with similar pricing.

It also confirmed that the device will be equipped with a flagship-grade 200-megapixel Samsung HP5 camera. Today, the brand rolled out the following poster to confirm its November 10 launch date for China along with some of its key specifications. At the same time, the device has also surfaced on Geekbench, revealing its chipset for the first time.

The above screengrabs show that a new Vivo phone bearing the model number V2516A has surfaced on Geekbench. The listing reveals that it is powered by a chipset that comprises four cores working at 2.0GHz and four cores operating at 2.6GHz. For graphics, the chipset is equipped with the Mali-G615 MC2 GPU. These details suggest that the device is powered by the Dimensity 7400 chipset.

The listing also reveals that the device features 12GB of RAM and runs on Android 16, which will have a layer of OriginOS 6 on top. The company claims that it will be the first non-flagship Vivo phone to come preinstalled with OriginOS 6.

It would be the company’s first-ever Y-series phone to sport such a high-end camera. A new Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed a more specific launch timeframe for the Y500 Pro.

Vivo Y500 Pro to launch in November

According to DCS, Vivo is preparing to launch the Y500 Pro mid-range phone by mid-November in China. He added that the phone will focus on being both practical and durable, appealing to users who prioritise reliability in daily use.

What’s interesting about the Vivo Y500 Pro’s 200-megapixel camera is that it features the Samsung HP5 sensor. It is the same camera that’s available as the periscope telephoto camera on the Find X9 Pro. This means that the Y500 Pro will offer a Pro-level, flagship-quality photography experience.

There is a possibility that the Vivo Y500 Pro could be based on the Vivo V60e, which recently debuted with the Samsung HP5 200-megapixel main camera.

The Vivo V60e has a 6.77-inch AMOLED display that supports a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1600 nits of peak brightness. For security, it has an in-screen fingerprint sensor, and it runs on Funtouch OS 15-based Android 15.

Now, Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao has confirmed that the company is gearing up to launch the Vivo Y500 Pro in China. It will be the brand’s first Y-series phone to feature a 200-megapixel main camera.

Vivo Y500 Pro primary camera details confirmed

According to Boxiao, after the success of the Vivo Y500, the brand is all set to launch the Vivo Y500 Pro before the end of this year. What’s interesting is that this Y-series phone will feature a 200-megapixel Samsung HP5 primary camera with an f/1.88 aperture.

On the other hand, the Vivo X300 series, which is scheduled to go official on Oct. 13 in China, will feature the custom-made Samsung HPB 200-megapixel flagship sensor. It is said to be an upgraded version of the Samsung HP9 200-megapixel sensor.

This phone appears to be a rebranded or slightly modified version of the Vivo V60e, which is expected to debut with a 200-megapixel primary camera in October in India.

Reports have revealed that the Vivo V60e will feature a 120Hz AMOLED display housed inside an IP68/69-rated body. It is expected to feature a 50-megapixel front camera and a 200-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual-camera setup on the back.

Under the hood, the V60e could be equipped with the all-new Dimensity 7360-Turbo chipset and a 6,500mAh battery with 90W fast charging support. It is expected to run on FunTouch OS 15-based Android 15. The device is expected to arrive with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.
