Vivo had initially planned to start with the testing of beta version of FunTouch OS 10 based Android 10 upgrade in February. However, the update was delayed due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak. On Feb. 17, the company had confirmed that it will soon share a detailed upgrade plan. The Chinese firm is back with a revised Android 10 update schedule for the Chinese market.

The public beta of Android 10 OS featuring the latest FunTouch OS 10 which was made official in December 2019 will be first made available to the users of Vivo NEX 3 and Vivo NEX 3 5G on March 14. The first 4,000 users who register for it will be provided with the public beta. Vivo had launched the Vivo X30 and X30 Pro phones in China with FunTouch OS 10 based Android 9 Pie. The revised Android 10 roll out does not mention when the X30 series will get the Android 10 update.

The Vivo X27, X27 (8 GB + 128 GB model), X27 Pro users will be receiving the public beta by early March. The owners of Vivo NEX S, NEX A, NEX-A with in-screen fingerprint sensor and NEX Dual Display will be treated by early April.

The Vivo S5 will get the update by mid-April. The end of April will see the update hitting handsets like Vivo Z5, Z5i, Z5x, S1 and S1 Pro. The update will be coming to other smartphones like Vivo Z3, Z3i and X23 by late June.

The above mentioned devices are the only smartphones from Vivo that will be blessed with FunTouch OS 10 based Android 10. The arrival of Android 10 update for users of Vivo phones in international markets is likely to happen once the Chinese models are treated with the update.

Vivo has launched the Vivo Z5i smartphone in China. It joins the other Z5-series phones such as Vivo Z5 and Vivo Z5x. Even though the Vivo Z5i has debuted as a new phone, it is not really an entirely new device. In fact, it is a rebranded version of the Vivo U3 that had recently gone official in China. Both phones have the same V1941A/T model number. Compared to the Vivo U3, the Vivo Z5i offers more amount of RAM and storage.

Vivo Z5i Specifications and Features

The Vivo Z5i measures 162.15 x 76.47 x 8.89mm and it weighs 193 grams. The device is fitted with a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display. The waterdrop notch enabled screen offers full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone promises a screen-to-body ratio of 90.3 percent.

The Snapdragon 675 mobile platform is present under the hood of the Vivo Z5i. It is assisted by 8 GB of RAM. For storage, it has an internal space of 128 GB and a microSD card slot. The Android 9 Pie OS that comes preinstalled on the device is skinned with FunTouch OS 9.2 UI. There is Multi-Turbo technology onboard for optimized performance. The phone is equipped with Game Cube 7.0 for enhanced visual experience while gaming. The smartphone also features Jovi AI voice assistant, Jovi Smart Screen, Jovi homepage and smart desktop. The device is backed by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W dual-engine fast charging through microUSB 2.0.

The Vivo Z5i has a triple camera system. It has a primary lens of 16-megapixel with f/1.78 aperture, a 120-degree 8-megapixel ultrawide lens and 2-megapixel macro lens with 4cm focal length. For capturing selfies, it has an f/2.0 aperture 16-megapixel front-facing camera. The other features of the Vivo Z5i are rear-positioned fingerprint reader, face unlock, 4G VoLTE, dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and 3.5mm audio jack.

Vivo Z5i Pricing and Availability

The Vivo Z5i has landed in China with a pricing of 1,798 Yuan. Its color variants are Glazed Black and Jade Blue. The sales of the smartphone will begin on Nov. 28. It is now available for pre-orders.

In comparison, the Vivo U3 variants such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage are respectively priced at in China. Its color variants are Agate Black, Spar Blue and Jade Blue.

In October, the Vivo V1941A/T smartphone had appeared on TENAA with all its specifications and images. However, the handset has not gone official yet. Today, the name of the device has been confirmed through its new listing on the database of China Telecom. The device will be soon launching in China as Vivo Z5i.

Vivo Z5i Price and Release Date (Rumored)

The China Telecom listing reveals that the Vivo Z5i has a price tag of 1,998 Yuan (~$286). Since the phone is still under the wraps, it is advisable to wait for official confirmation on its pricing.

The listing states that the Vivo Z5i was supposed to launch in China on Nov. 1. The date has already passed which indicates that it may go official soon in the coming days. The smartphone will be available in three color options such as Agate Black, Spar Blue and Jade Porcelain Green in the home market. The Vivo Z5i will be selling alongside other Z-series phones such as Vivo Z5 and Vivo Z5x in China.

The Vivo Z5i has a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display with waterdrop notch. It supports full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The TENAA listing had revealed that the phone is powered by 2.0GHz octa-core processor. Through its China Telecom appearance, it is now confirmed that it is fueled by Snapdragon 675 mobile platform. The SoC is supported by 8 GB of RAM. The native storage of the device is 128 GB. For more storage, it is equipped with a microSD card slot. The phone may arrive in multiple variants since TENAA had revealed 4 GB / 6 GB / 8 GB RAM variants and 64 GB / 128 GB storage editions.

A fingerprint reader can be seen on the rear shell of the Vivo Z5i. The Android 9 Pie OS runs on the device. It could be featuring the latest FunTouch OS 9.2 UI. The device is backed by a 4,920mAh minimum. The 3C appearance of the phone had revealed that it could be shipped with 18W fast charger.

The Vivo Z5i has a front-mounted camera of 16-megapixel. On its rear is a 16-megapixel + 8-megapxiel + 2-megapixel triple camera system. The Vivo Z5i resembles with the Vivo U3 in terms of specs and design. The only major difference is that Vivo U3 comes in 4 GB / 6 GB RAM variants and 64 GB of native storage. Launched in last month, the 4 GB and 6 GB models of the Vivo U3 are respectively priced at 999 Yuan (~$143) and 1,199 Yuan (~$171) in China.
