Apart from just unveiling a number of new hardware during CES 2023, ASUS announced an interesting new software technology as well, which will be rolled out to certain OLED laptops to enable a glass free way of experiencing 3D. So here are all the details.

Just yesterday, we had covered Acer’s announcement in which it had also released an update to improve its existing SpatialLabs TrueGame tech that also enabled 3D gaming without a dedicated 3D glasses. Now, it appears that the Taiwanese PC maker has also released a similar technology. The company is seeking to bring this feature to OLED laptop screens thanks to its ASUS Spatial Vision, which is a “glasses free (autostereoscopic) 3D OLED technology.”

So now, PCs that support Spatial Vision will be able to use a combination of lenticular lens and advanced eye tracking camera technology to offer a 3D experience. With this tech, the system can render separate images for each eye and follow the position of your head and eyes to adjust the output. As of right now, ASUS will be debuting the Spatial Vision 3D tech on two laptops in the second quarter of this year, including the ProArt Studiobook 16 3D OLED and the Vivobook Pro 16 3D OLED.

The company is rolling out the new tech on these laptops first thanks to their higher 3200 x 2000px resolutions and high 120Hz refresh rate support. Furthermore, these also feature a layer of optical resin, a glass panel, and a lenticular lens that helps work with a pair of eye tracking cameras for real time rendering of images. Meaning, this technology won’t just work with any OLED laptop, at least for now that is.

Asus has unveiled the Vivobook Pro 14X OLED notebook. The laptop comes with an immersive 14.5-inch 2.8K 120 Hz OLED display. It is powered by the 12th gen Intel Core i9-12900H processor paired with 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. The device will likely go on sale in the third quarter of 2022.

The Vivobook Pro 14X OLED will be the latest addition to the Vivobook pro series. The laptop comes with high-end features and aims to compete with the premium offerings of HP and Apple. The design and appearance of the laptop are different from the other laptops in the series. It comes with an all-metal build and features a unique logo design on the back.

The highlight of the laptop is the 14.5-inch 2.8K 120 Hz OLED display. The display comes with comes 0.2ms response time and is capable of providing the best colors and quality for any content be it gaming, entertainment, or work. The panel has a peak brightness of up to 600 nits, a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut.

If we talk about the input devices, the Vivobook Pro 14X OLED comes with a new ErgoSense keyboard that has 19.05 mm of key pitch, 1.4 mm long key travel, and 0.2 mm key-cap dish. The trackpad is large and comes with Asus’ virtual rotary control.

The hardware game is strong with this one. The laptop can be configured with either a 12th gen Core i7-12700H or a 12th gen Core i9-12900H. It comes with up to 32 GB of LPDDR5 memory and up to 1 TB of PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD. Moreover, the Vivobook Pro 14X OLED comes with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU.

The laptop includes all of the necessary I/O ports. There’s an HDMI® 2.1 port for connecting up to a 4K 120 Hz / 8K 60 Hz monitor, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, and a ThunderboltTM 4 USB-C port for rapid charging. There is also a high-speed microSD card reader that enables quick data interchange at speeds of up to 50 MB/s. The laptop is fueled by a 70 WH battery that can be charged 50% in just 30 minutes.

The price of the laptop is yet to be known. However, its launch is expected in Q3 2022.
