OnePlus has scheduled a launch event on 26th September where the company will be launching its new OnePlus 7T series smartphones and the all-new OnePlus TV. The company’s CEO Pete Lau has already showcased the design of the upcoming smartphone.

Now, a new report has surfaced online which says that the OnePlus 7T will come with 23 percent faster charging compared to its predecessor, thanks to the support for company’s proprietary Warp Charge 3T fast charging technology.

Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus said to TechRadar: “We believe that Warp Charge 30T offers the best charging solution for real-world usage. You can charge the phone at 23% faster speeds, even while using the device.”

He added that the company is not going to introduce something just for the sake of being first. Explaining why it didn’t come to the OnePlus 7 Pro launched earlier this year, he said “We took time to refine and iterate, continuously testing until we were able to achieve something we were proud to provide to our fans.”

He explains that unlike most fast charging solutions, OnePlus’ Warp Charge 30 handles the power management inside of the power brick instead of inside the phone. This keeps the phone cool, allowing for fast charge rates even when the phone is in use, says Lau.

The technology used by OnePlus for fast charging is different from the one that the likes of Samsung and Huawei have adopted. Compared to other fast charging technology that rely on high voltage, Warp Charge 30T delivers 6A at 5V to attain 30W.

While 30W charging is fast, it is not as fast as other flagship smartphones. For instance, Huawei is offering 40W charging for its flagship smartphones while Xiaomi’s upcoming Mi 9 Pro 5G will also have support for 40W charging. On the other hand, Oppo Reno Ace will come with 65W fast charging.

One of the feature that most flagship smartphones offer and which OnePlus’ users have been demanding since a long time is wireless charging support. But they will have to wait a bit longer as the OnePlus 7T will also not support wireless charging as OnePlus believes that the technology doesn’t offer experience that the company wants to offer.

Along with the OnePlus 7T series smartphone, OnePlus TV is also getting launched on 26th September in India. While the company has shared a few details about the upcoming smart TV, a new teaser shared by Pete Lau show the metal stand that will hold the OnePlus TV.

The image shows the OnePlus TV metal stand in silver color and will hold the 55-inch screen of the OnePlus TV. Overall, the stand appears to have a minimal design, similar to the remote control of the TV which was shared earlier.

One of the top features of the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition is its Warp Charge 30 fast-charging technology. While OnePlus hasn’t officially said it yet, this is definitely the successor to Fast Charge, formerly known as Dash Charge. OnePlus released a post on its forums explaining how Warp Charge 30 works and some other important details.

The name, Warp Charge is formed from a combination of its power rating (30 Watts) and the word “Warp” which is used to describe an insanely fast speed in sci-fi space movies. Warp Charge is OnePlus’s fastest charging-technology so far as it can provide up to a day’s power by charging for just 20 minutes.

Like Fast Charge, the phone (OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition) doesn’t heat up when you charge the phone using Warp Charge. This is because a large part of the power management that heats up is transferred to the wall adapter itself instead of the phone. Also, charging while gaming is equally fast too. Below are charts that show Warp Charge 30 in comparison against Adaptive Fast Charge of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and USB PD of the Google Pixel 3 XL.

If you are wondering why the regular OnePlus 6T doesn’t support Warp Charge, OnePlus says it is because they had to alter the safety mechanisms of the battery assembly in the McLaren Edition to support the additional increase in power. They also had to upgrade the components of the battery’s protection structure and added an 8-layer protection board to the battery to provide more efficient cooling.

Although older OnePlus devices can’t benefit from the faster charging speeds, the adapter that comes with the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition can be used to charge them but all you get is Fast Charge (Dash Charge) speeds. OnePlus also says you can use your older OnePlus Fast Charge adapters to charge the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition at Fast Charge speeds. Your older OnePlus cable will also be able to charge the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition at Warp Charge 30 speeds when used with the Warp Charge 30 adapter.

The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition doesn’t launch until December 11 but a new leak has revealed what the phone looks like as well as an exciting new feature. The leak is a set of marketing materials including official renders of the phone and was posted on Twitter by @IshanAgarwal24.

With respect to design, the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition doesn’t look any different from the regular OnePlus 6T. You get the same display with a water-drop notch and a bit of bezel at the bottom. Flip it and then you know this is indeed a custom edition.

The back is covered in glass but the inside of the glass appears to have a design that makes it appear as if it is made of kevlar. There is also an orange paint job that begins at the bottom but fades off when it gets to the sides.

The arrangement of the dual rear cameras hasn’t changed so also is the position of the OnePlus logo but there is now a McLaren logo at the bottom of the phone. The phone still doesn’t have an audio jack

Not really excited about the design? Then you will be excited about its internals.

The OnePlus 6T will come with 10GB of RAM! A first for a OnePlus phone. It will also be paired with 256GB of storage. However, the biggest addition is that it will come with a faster charging technology than that of the OnePlus 6T.

OnePlus is calling it Warp Charge 30 and it will provide a day’s power in 20 minutes – 10 minutes faster than Dash Charge. So if Dash Charge gives you up to 60% in 30 minutes, Warp Charge 30 lets you reach that number in just 20 minutes. We presume that just like Dash Charge, Warp Charge 30 will only work with the included charger and cable.

The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition will launch in England on December 11, India on December 12, and in China on December 14.
