<p>Videotex, India&#8217;s first licensed manufacturer of TVs powered by LG&#8217;s webOS, has recently unveiled its latest line of smart TVs, introducing the HD 32-inch and FHD 43-inch models powered by webOS Hub 2.0S.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="473" height="436" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Videotex-webOS-Hub-2.0S-TVs-1.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-603572" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Videotex-webOS-Hub-2.0S-TVs-1.jpg 473w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Videotex-webOS-Hub-2.0S-TVs-1-300x277.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Videotex-webOS-Hub-2.0S-TVs-1-456x420.jpg 456w" sizes="(max-width: 473px) 100vw, 473px" /></figure></div>

<p>The new models from Videotex boast a modern, sleek metal design with borderless screens, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of any living space. They are equipped with Quantum Luminit+ Display technology and a Realtek Chipset, promising superior picture quality and vibrant, accurate colors thanks to HDR10 and HLG support. For gaming, there is an Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and MEMC technology, which ensure a smoother, more responsive gaming experience.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="650" height="353" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Videotex-webOS-Hub-2.0S-TVs.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-603575" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Videotex-webOS-Hub-2.0S-TVs.jpg 650w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Videotex-webOS-Hub-2.0S-TVs-300x163.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px" /></figure></div>

<p>These smart TVs are designed for smooth operation, featuring 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of ROM, and support for webcam-enabled remote meeting applications, making them suitable for both entertainment and work-from-home setups. The TVs operate on LG&#8217;s webOS Hub 2.0S which has support for LG&#8217;s ThinQ app. This app essentially lets users control their TVs from their smartphones, giving them the ability to turn the TVs on/off, adjust settings, Remotely monitor their status, and more. They also come with family-friendly settings, an Eye Care Mode to minimize eye strain, and seamless integration with iOS devices through Apple AirPlay.</p>

<p>Key specifications include a variety of features like Dolby Audio, dual-band WiFi, and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.</p>

<p>When it comes to consumer electronics, software is as important as hardware. Updates can enhance the performance of your device long after its release, add new features, fix issues, and most importantly, improve security. While we often discuss software updates in relation to smartphones, it&#8217;s equally important for other smart technologies in our lives. LG, recognizing this importance, promised five years of updates for webOS TVs. Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>LG Promises At Least 5 Years Update Guarantee for WebOS TVs</strong></h2>

<p>The widespread availability of digital content platforms like YouTube and Netflix has given people the freedom to watch what they want, when they want. This trend has also contributed to the popularity of smart TVs. Nowadays, many of us have modern smart televisions at home or technologies like the Xiaomi TV Stick that smarten up older TVs. However, this situation also brings along some challenges.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/lg-webos-tv-system-update-1-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-594600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/lg-webos-tv-system-update-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/lg-webos-tv-system-update-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/lg-webos-tv-system-update-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/lg-webos-tv-system-update-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/lg-webos-tv-system-update-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/lg-webos-tv-system-update-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/lg-webos-tv-system-update-1.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Adding another smart device to the ones you already own means another addition to the products list that might concern you in terms of updates. Considering even Android phones have recently been resolving issues in this regard, one can imagine how the situation might be for smart TVs. Thankfully, with its promise of five years of updates for webOS TVs, it aims to change this scenario.</p>

<p>The company announcing the introduction of the 2024 model televisions has promised five years of updates for webOS. However, this update will only apply to LG smart TVs produced in 2024 and later. Consequently, manufacturers of webOS TVs from other companies will still be responsible for their own updates. This situation can be likened to Google&#8217;s comprehensive update support for Pixel models while leaving other manufacturers to manage updates independently.</p>

The South new projector from the South Korean tech giant arrives to bring the cinema experience home amid a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/coronavirus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">global pandemic</a>, which has caused people to stay indoors.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-355942 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/20201123000145_0.jpg?x44794" alt="LG" width="1024" height="680" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/20201123000145_0.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/20201123000145_0-300x199.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/20201123000145_0-768x510.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/20201123000145_0-696x462.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/20201123000145_0-632x420.jpg 632w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>The latest model is within the LG CineBeam Laser 4K series and is called the HU810PW. It is equipped with a triple image adjustment feature that offers users multiple installation options, as per official notes. The price of the new device is 3.79 million won (or roughly 3,400 US Dollars). Through its lens, the projector can create a rectangular screen regardless of its position in the room, be it at a corner or at an oblique angle.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/24/redmi-note-8-and-redmi-note-8-pro-might-get-android-11-as-news-of-internal-testing-surfaces/">Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro might get Android 11 as news of internal testing surfaces</a></strong></h6>
<p>The horizontal and vertical lens can shift and the screen can also be enlarged to a maximum zoom ratio of 1.6 times, which allows for easier alignment of the image being displayed. As the name suggests, the projector supports 4K resolution to up to 300 inches with a maximum brightness of 2,700 ANSI lumens. The gadget also sports an Iris mode that can detect the amount of light in the room and adjust the brightness accordingly to deliver optimal contrast with each frame.</p>

<p>The LG CineBeam Laser 4K HU810PW runs on the LG <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/webos/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">webOS</a> platform and is also compatible with popular streaming services. This includes Netflix, YouTube and other online portals as long as an internet connection is available to the user. So for those missing the cinema theaters, this device might offer you such an experience without leaving the comfort of your homes.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Though this report was published on September 2, it is worth noting that it is for Q1 2020.</span></p>
<h2><strong>Streaming Devices</strong></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">According to Strategy Analytics, Samsung was the leading streaming device brand in the first quarter of 2020 in 27 major countries with 14% of devices in use. Whereas, second and third positions were held by </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Sony/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Sony </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/LG/"><span style="font-weight: 400">LG </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">with 12% and 8% market share respectively.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Further, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Hisense/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Hisense</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/TCL/"><span style="font-weight: 400">TCL</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Amazon/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Amazon </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">tied at fourth position with 5% market share each, followed by </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Nintendo/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Nintendo </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Microsoft/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Microsoft </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">at fifth position with 4%.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Interestingly, in sixth place with 3%, there were a total of seven brands such as Skyworth, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Google/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Google</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, Vizio, Sharp, Roku, Philips, and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Xiaomi</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. Also, with 2% in seventh place, there were four brands like </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Apple/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Apple</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, Changhong, Panasonic, and Konka.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Whereas, the ninth position was captured by Haier, Toshiba, and Insignia with a 1% share. The remaining 9% was held by others category, which includes brands with negligible market share.</span></p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>EDITOR&#8217;S PICK: </strong><a title="Samsung to raise smartphone shipments to 300 million units in 2021, as Huawei shipments decline" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/07/samsung-smartphone-ship-300-million-units-in-2021/" rel="bookmark">Samsung to raise smartphone shipments to 300 million units in 2021, as Huawei shipments decline</a></h6>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2><strong>Streaming Platforms</strong></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Talking about streaming platforms, once again, Samsung lead in these 27 markets with 11% share with its Tizen OS. But the second position was held by platforms of both LG and Sony namely WebOS and Sony Playstation with 7% share each.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Roku TV OS and Fire OS tied at third position with 5% market share, followed by </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Android-TV/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Android TV</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> and Microsoft Xbox in the fourth place with 4% share.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Google Chromecast came at fifth position with 3% share while Apple tvOS and Firefox OS clashed with each other in the sixth place with 2% market share. The remaining 49% was occupied by platforms in the others category.</span></p>
<h2><strong>Takeaways</strong></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">One thing is obvious from this report that the leading streaming device manufacturers also top the chart in streaming platforms if they have any. Also, a plethora of TV manufacturers gained some share in the devices category. Most of them use Android TV but still, Google’s streaming platform only accounted for 4%.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Anyway, this report only includes data from 27 major countries. Even though, the number of active devices in these regions is an astonishing figure at 1.14 billion.</span></p>
