<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-322647" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/s_71dc4c9b59a1435dbf2c8e24888de7ab.jpg?x44794" alt="Honor" width="431" height="766" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/s_71dc4c9b59a1435dbf2c8e24888de7ab.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/s_71dc4c9b59a1435dbf2c8e24888de7ab-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/s_71dc4c9b59a1435dbf2c8e24888de7ab-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/s_71dc4c9b59a1435dbf2c8e24888de7ab-236x420.jpg 236w" sizes="(max-width: 431px) 100vw, 431px" /></p>
<p>Earlier this year, the Wi-Fi technology saw an advancement in its technology with the new generation of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/wi-fi-6/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">WiFi 6</a> standards being launched. As of right now, its popularity is already increasing, with most flagship smartphones featuring this technology. Routers and other AIoT products also appeared early on and now it seems that a higher WiFi 6 Plus standard is arriving soon as well.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/14/samsung-galaxy-fold-special-edition-leak/">Samsung Galaxy Fold Special Edition could be the cheapest foldable smartphone</a></strong></h6>
<p>For those unaware, WiFi 6 brought a lot of improvements over the older generations. It had bandwidth almost three times higher than WiFi 5 and can have nearly 4 times the capacity of concurrently connected devices. Furthermore, its power consumption was also powered by 30 percent while latency also saw a reduction. Unfortunately, it is currently unknown what improvements WiFi 6 Plus brings over the regular WiFi 6, but it is likely to be further improvements on the aforementioned features.</p>

<p>The official Honor Weibo account, a Chinese microblogging website, shared the first poster image for the Honor Router 3. This product will be announced on 18th May 2020, alongside many others like a new laptop, the company&#8217;s first 5G and WiFi 6 compliant tablet, and more. The announcement was made by Zhi Hao, the President of Huawei&#8217;s Consumer business IoT product line.</p>
<p>According to the senior executive, the tech giant had achieved the 12 million unit shipment in 2019, with products priced over 200 Yuan (roughly 28 US Dollars) having the most dominant share. Notably, online sales accounted for this and 2019 as the sales up by 139 percent over 2019. This includes the company&#8217;s routers with the latest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/wifi-6/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Wi-Fi 6</a> standards.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-313634 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/s_87192190cae345bf85d468f6bfa496a5.png?x44794" alt="Huawei" width="600" height="336" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/s_87192190cae345bf85d468f6bfa496a5.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/s_87192190cae345bf85d468f6bfa496a5-300x168.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>For those unaware, Wi-Fi 6 is the latest generation in the standards. One of the biggest improvements it has made is the introduction of 5G technology. In other words, it has two high and two low bandwidths (high bandwidth, high concurrency, low latency, low power consumption). This also translates to an overall faster networking speed support, with better and wider coverage over the previous generations.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/03/30/honor-unveils-7nm-kirin-820-5g-chipset-brings-big-improvements-over-the-kirin-810/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Honor unveils 7nm Kirin 820 5G chipset; brings big improvements over the Kirin 810</a></strong></h6>
<p>As of right now, Huawei is one of the leading figures in Wi-Fi 6 routers and other AIoT products. 2019 saw the breakout of the technology while 2020 is already witnessing a more widespread commercial adoption. This means that 2020 may surpass even 2019 with its overall router sales figures, although thee recent coronavirus outbreak might have certain negative impacts on sales as well.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-313633 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/s_bff3159e0d7e4e05ae83a79e2d685132.png?x44794" alt="Huawei" width="600" height="315" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/s_bff3159e0d7e4e05ae83a79e2d685132.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/s_bff3159e0d7e4e05ae83a79e2d685132-300x158.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>Huawei also used the press conference as a stage to talk about its new Wi-Fi 6+ technology. The new routers are based on a self developed custom chipset. It will also soon be found in Huawei smartphones, tablets, smart displays, and other terminals and routers as well. The new chipset is dubbed that Kirin W650 and takes advantage of the company&#8217;s end to end dynamic narrow bandwidth technology.</p>
