Last year Xiaomi celebrated its seventh year anniversary in a grand style with all the seven founders coming together to reminisce about the successful journey. This year’s 8th-anniversary celebration promises to be even bigger. Indeed the last one year has been a successful one for the Chinese tech giant who emerged among the top 5 global smartphone vendors in terms of market shares. Xiaomi will be rolling out the drums in a much-anticipated ceremony holding on May 31 in Shenzhen, China where a number of products will be launched.

Xiaomi released a teaser video on Tuesday which captures the company’s journey as far as products launched are concerned. The video takes us through a slide, revealing products like the 90 Minutes suitcase, LED bulb, smart lock, refrigerator, camera, bread toaster, and even what looks like the electric wine opener. The video at the tail end teases the Mi 8 annual flagship which would be dropping in two days time.

The Mi 8 has been pretty regular in leaks and teasers so the design and features are almost in the open. The device is expected to pack a 6.2-inch screen with a notch, Snapdragon 845 chipset, up to 8GB of RAM, dual 20MP f/1.7 and 16MP f/2.0 camera, front-facing 16MP f/2.0 camera, a 3,300mAh battery, its own Face ID and its own animoji. We find it curious that the video refers to the Mi 8 as Xiaomi’s annual flagship. This props up the suggestion that the Mi 8 SE may be launched as the special anniversary edition. The Mi 8 SE is expected to come with a Snapdragon 710 chipset which means it isn’t a flagship.
