Tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) has released a new Weibo post to share details about an upcoming large-screen flagship from Xiaomi powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. While he has not specified the name of the device, it appears the tipster could be referring to the Xiaomi 17 Max.

Xiaomi 17 Max key details tipped

According to the tipster, the Xiaomi 17 Max’s engineering prototype includes upgraded speakers, likely using a dual symmetric 1115 speaker setup for enhanced audio performance. The device is also expected to retain an X-axis linear motor, which has reportedly become a standard feature in the series.

On the imaging front, DCS mentions a 200-megapixel large-sensor primary camera paired with a periscope telephoto lens. Other highlighted features include a flagship-grade large display, a symmetrical narrow-bezel design with equal sides, and a massive 8,000 mAh-class battery. The overall design language is said to follow a clean and minimalist aesthetic.

Previous reports have revealed that the Xiaomi 17 Max will feature a 6.9-inch flat OLED panel delivering a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Its massive battery is said to support 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. Like recent Xiaomi devices, the 17 Max is expected to run on HyperOS 3-based Android 16.

The 17 Max’s rear camera setup is said to feature a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HPE primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 50-megapixel Sony periscope telephoto lens. For selfies, it could be equipped with a 50-megapixel front-facing camera.

Xiaomi 17 Max launch timeframe (rumored)

Rumors surrounding the Xiaomi 17 Max suggest that it may debut in April in China. This device is likely to compete with the Vivo X300 Max, which is expected to debut earlier in March in China. At present, there is no information about the global availability of these devices.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s 200MP periscope telephoto camera’s details, launch timeframe tipped

The Xiaomi 15 series includes three flagship models, namely the Xiaomi 15, 15 Pro, and 15 Ultra. All three phones are expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. While the standard and Pro models are expected to debut later this month, the Ultra model is expected to break cover in Q1 2025. While the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro are camera-focused flagships, the Ultra model is expected to offer an even better photography experience. Reports have claimed that it will be equipped with a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. A new leak that has emerged on Weibo has shed more information about this camera.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s 200MP camera detailed

Reports have claimed that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be equipped with the Samsung ISOCELL HP9 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. The same periscope zoom camera is available on the Vivo X100 Ultra, which debuted earlier this year in China.

As can be seen in the above screenshot, while the tipster has leaked the camera details of an upcoming phone, he has not specified its name. However, in all likelihood, he could be talking about the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The leak reveals that the 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera will offer a 100mm focal length, an f/2.6 aperture, and 4.3x optical zoom. The leaker did not share any information about the other specs.

A recent report claimed that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will feature the one-inch 50-megapixel LYT-900 primary camera with OIS support, a 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 telephoto camera. While the 15 Ultra will feature a new periscope telephoto camera, the rest of the cameras are identical to those of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

In addition to leaking the periscope camera details, DCS has also hinted at the launch timeframe for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. According to his information, the device is scheduled to launch after the Lunar New Year, suggesting a release in February or at least within the first quarter of 2025.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra battery size confirmed, promised to be more durable than 13 Ultra

Tomorrow (Feb. 22), Xiaomi will hold a major launch event in China to announce the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro. The 14 Ultra will arrive with several upgrades as compared to the Xiaomi 13 Ultra that was released last year. New updates shared by the brand over its Weibo account confirm that the device will offer better durability and a larger battery as compared to the predecessor.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra durability, battery size

\The Xiaomi 14 Ultra features a 5,300mAh battery, resulting in a 17 percent increase in battery life compared to its predecessor. While the battery capacity has been increased, its volume has been reduced by 8 percent. With the latest silicon carbon anode technology, Xiaomi’s battery achieves a maximum silicon content of 6 percent. Notably, the battery offers the highest energy density at 779Wh/L among its counterparts.

The company is yet to confirm the fast-charging capabilities of the 14 Ultra. However, leaks have claimed that the device will offer 90W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.

When it comes to durability, the company claims that the middle frame of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is twice as resistant to bending, the screen is ten times more resistant to drops, and the back panel, which is made up of Kona leather, is six times more resistant to wear compared to the 13 Ultra model. The brand confirmed that the device has received SGS five-star durability certification.

The 14 Ultra will be arriving in shades, such as black and white. The official images suggest that these variants will have a leather back. On the other hand, the rumored blue variant is said to have a ceramic back. It is speculated that the topmost configuration of the device will also come in a special titanium frame option.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 leak reveals codename, model numbers, chipset, and other details

Xiaomi is expected to announce two foldable phones this year in China. The first one, believed to be the Xiaomi Mix Flip, a vertically foldable smartphone, may launch by the end of February, along with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The other one is the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, which is expected to debut in the second half of the year. Ahead of the launch, publication GSMChina has scoured through the Mi code to get key details about the Mix Fold 4.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 4: What’s known so far

According to the publication, findings from the Mi code suggest that the codename “Ruyi” may be associated with the upcoming Xiaomi Mix Fold 4. The global and Chinese model numbers of the device are listed as 2405CPX3DG and 2405CPX3DC, respectively. The internal model number of the device is said to be “n8.”

The Mix Fold 4 will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and is expected to ship with the HyperOS-based Android 14. While rumors surrounding the Mix Fold 4 suggest that it will launch in the second half of 2024, the “2405” digits in its model numbers suggest that it may be unveiled in May. The publication speculates that the foldable phone will debut with a mysterious device, but it did not divulge any information about the latter.

Reports have revealed that the Mix Fold 4 will support two-way satellite connectivity. As far as other specs are concerned, it is advisable to wait for further reports to know them.

Regarding the Xiaomi Mix Flip and Xiaomi 14 Ultra, both devices are expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and support two-way satellite communication. Xiaomi’s upcoming launch event, which might witness the introduction of these products, may also showcase the unveiling of the Pad 7 series of tablets.

Xiaomi plans to enter Japan by 2020

After taking the Indian market by storm, Xiaomi now plans to make its presence felt in Japan. According to the latest report on Nikkei Asian Review, the confirmation came directly from Wang Xiang, Head of International Operations at Xiaomi. The Chinese tech giants plan to introduce its extensive range of smartphones and wearable devices by 2020. Although a deadline has not been announced yet, Wang maintains, “We should be able to establish our presence in Japan by 2020. The sooner the better”.

The list of products that Xiaomi plans to introduce is currently under wraps. According to Wang, the company plans to offer devices that the Japanese audience will enjoy. He claims Xiaomi is looking for local telecom companies to partner with, without taking names. Like the US, telecom companies are the largest smartphone distributors in Japan. Smartphone companies that do not have tie-ups typically struggle to gain a foothold in the country.

During the interactive media session on Oct. 4, Wang tried to downplay concerns about data privacy with Chinese companies. He referred to Xiaomi’s successful streak in Europe during the past decade in which the company made its foray in numerous European markets. He said, “We cooperate with companies like Google, and have a clean track record of adhering to personal data laws in Europe. We will do the same in Japan.”
