MIUI 14 update is now available for two more devices in India. These phones are Xiaomi 11i and Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge.

For the unaware, the two smartphones are rebranded versions of the Chinese Redmi Note 11 Pro and Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus. They are getting the latest MIUI software after the original models.

The MIUI 14 update for the Xiaomi 11i series in India also brings along Android 13. Thus, the device has now received two MIUI and Android updates each.

The update comes with build number V14.0.1.0.TKTINXM. As per Xiaomiui, it is currently only available for ‘Mi Pilot Testers’.

If this software build doesn’t have major issues, it will be pushed to a limited number of public users as ‘Stable Beta’. Later, it will be rolled out to all users gradually. In other words, the update should reach all units within the next few weeks.

The Xiaomi 11i and the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge debuted with MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11. They were updated to MIUI 13 and Android 12 last year.

We are not sure if these two phones will receive any further major software updates. But there’s a chance they will as newer Xiaomi smartphones are eligible for three Android updates. They may at least get access to a third MIUI update.

That said, users of the handsets can periodically head over to Settings to check whether their unit has got the latest OTA system update.

The Xiaomi 11i and 11i HyperCharge are basically the same models except for their different battery capacities and charging speeds. While the 11i comes with a 5,160mAh battery with 67W charging, the HyperCharge model packs 120W charging for its 4,500mAh battery. The 11i HyperCharge is slightly lighter than the 11i and also more expensive.

Nowadays, top-tier flagships became very expensive, but you can get great mid-rangers and, if you are not an advanced user, maybe you won’t notice the difference. Among the latest good mid-rangers released by mainstream brands, there is the new Xiaomi 11i, which is totally different from the flagship killer Xiaomi 11i launched in 2021. But it has several rivals, especially in the Indian market. Two of the best are definitely the Realme 9 Pro Plus and the OPPO F21 Pro 5G, and this comparison will highlight the differences between the specifications of these three devices.

Design

The OPPO F21 Pro 5G has the most attractive design. It comes with great flat borders, a thinner and lighter body, and two amazing RGB LED rings around the rear cameras which can be used as notification LEDs. Last but not least, it comes with the IPX4 certification making it splash resistant. The Realme 9 Pro Plus is another great phone in terms of design because it comes with a color-changing back: the Sunrise Blue color variant is able to change its colors in a few seconds if placed under the sunlight. The Xiaomi 11i does not shine in terms of design.

Display

On the paper, the most advanced display belongs to the Xiaomi 11i. It has an AMOLED panel with a wider diagonal of 6.67 inches, a Full HD+ resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, the HDR10 certification, and a peak brightness up to 1200 nits. Right after, we got the Realme 9 Pro Plus with a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED panel sporting a 90 Hz refresh rate and an in-display fingerprint reader which doubles as a heart rate sensor. The OPPO F21 Pro 5G is less impressive because it has a standard refresh rate and it lacks the HDR certification.

Specs & Software

If you need the best performance, then you should go either for the Xiaomi 11i or the Realme 9 Pro Plus. They are powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 920 5G mobile platform running at a max frequency of 2.5 GHz and paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. We did not recommend the OPPO F21 Pro 5G because it has a lower-end Snapdragon 695 5G mobile platform and just 128 GB of internal storage. The Realme 9 Pro Plus and the OPPO F21 Pro 5G run Android 12 out of the box, while the Xiaomi 11i still comes with Android 11.

Camera

The best camera phone is the Realme 9 Pro Plus thanks to its main sensor: a 50 MP Sony IMX766 with a 50 MP resolution and OIS. The silver medal goes to the 108 MP main camera of the Xiaomi 11i.

Battery

The Xiaomi 11i offers the longest battery life simply because it has a bigger battery. Further, it features a faster charging technology with a power of 65W.

Price

Xiaomi 11i starts from Rs. 24,300 or $295, you need Rs. 26,999 / $327 to purchase the OPPO F21 Pro 5G, and the Realme 9 Pro Plus starts from Rs. 25,099 / $304. The Xiaomi 11i comes with a better display and bigger battery, the Realme 9 Pro Plus packs a better camera, and the OPPO F21 Pro 5G comes with the best design but inferior specifications. Which one would you pick?

It’s quite a major feat considering the Mi 10i was an extremely popular device already, being one of the cheapest 5G offerings when it was launched. The phone had registered record-breaking sales of Rs 400 crore in just three weeks, and it now appears that the Xiaomi 11i series will be bringing in even more money.

Xiaomi equates the good figures to a ‘HyperCharge Revolution’, which is quite reasonable considering the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge is currently one of the fastest charging phones on the Indian market right now. 120W fast charging support is no joke and is claimed to fill up the device’s 4,500mAh battery from 0% to 100% in only 15 minutes. Its more affordable sibling — the vanilla Xiaomi 11i — meanwhile comes with 67W Turbocharge support.

But it’s not the charging and the battery department that the Xiaomi 11i series shines, as the rest of the spec sheet is just as compelling for the price.

Under the hood, you get the fairly powerful MediaTek Dimensity 920 chip. The display is an FHD+ 6.67-inch flat AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1200 nits peak brightness, and 360Hz touch sampling. For photography, you get a 108MP+8MP+2MP triple camera setup at the rear and a 16MP shooter up front.

The Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge starts at ₹26,999 while the standard Xiaomi 11i starts at ₹24,999 for the 6GB+128GB variants.

While the devices are yet to make it globally, Indian users waiting to get their hands and on them will now finally be able to do so.

A product launch announcing the Xiaomi 11i 5G and Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge 5G was held on Thursday. While both come with nearly the same specifications, there is a key difference in their charging capabilities — just like the naming scheme implies. The Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge 5G supports the ultrafast 120W charging standard while the Xiaomi 11i opts for a less zealous 67W rating.

However, there is another major difference — the Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge features a 4500mAh battery, which is a tad smaller than the 5160mAh packed into the Xiaomi 11i. Also included are 34 charging and battery safety features, spanning the entire charging path from the charger to the circuit to the battery.

Other than this, you get MediaTek Dimensity 920 on both of the models, which in terms of benchmarks scores only around 30% lower than the flagship Dimensity 1200 chip. The display is a 6.67” 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED with a peak brightness of 1200nits. It is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. For audio, you get dual symmetrical stereo speakers with Dolby.

Moving on to the optics department, both the 11i and 11i Hypercharge again come with identical camera specifications with a triple camera setup at the rear. It is comprised of a 108MP (1/1.52″) primary shooter, complemented by an 8MP ultrawide angle lens and a 2MP macro lens. Upfront, there is a 16MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.45, housed within a centrally aligned punch hole.

Speaking of design, the Xiaomi 11i series adopts a boxier body with flat edges. The back panel is made of AG glass with a matte finish. Both phones have the same thickness at 8.3mm but the HyperCharge model is lighter at 204g than the vanilla model’s 207g. The bezels surrounding the screen are slim enough, although the chin does have a bit of a height. The fingerprint is present on the side and the 3.5mm headphone jack is retained.

Color options of the Xiaomi 11i series include Camo Green, Pacific Pearl, Purple Mist, and Stealth Black.

Xiaomi 11i is launched in two variants — 6GB+128GB at INR 24,999 and 8GB+128 GB at INR 26,999. Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge is launched in two variants — 6GB + 128GB at INR 26,999 and 8GB + 128GB at INR 28,999.

The key specifications of the smartphone are now listed on its landing page available on Xiaomi India’s website. It will be one of the first phones to land in the country with the Dimensity 920 onboard. A report by India Today Tech has tipped the pricing of the device.

According to the publication, Xiaomi India’s Chief Business Officer, Raghu Reddy has confirmed to it that the 11i HyperCharge will be priced between Rs 25,000 (~$336) and Rs 30,000 (~$403). As it is known, one of the major highlights of the so-called ‘HyperCharge’ phone is that it will carry support for 120W fast charging.

The company has been claiming that the 11i HyperCharge can go from 0 to 100 percent in just 15 minutes. Reddy did not share any information on the specs of the device. However, it is being said that the 11i HyperCharge will be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G phone that debuted in China back in October.

Past reports have revealed that the 11i HyperCharge will come in 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage variant only and it will come in two color such as Camo Green and Stealth Black. The device will be equipped with a 6.67-inch AMOLED FHD+ display with a punch-hole design, which will offer a 120Hz refresh rate. It may house a 4,500mAh battery.

For photography, it may feature a 16-megapixel front-facing camera and a 108-megapixel (main) + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) + 2-megapixel (macro) triple camera unit. The vanilla Xiaomi 11i is likely to house a 5,160mAh battery with 67W fast charging supports. It other specs could be identical to the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge.

While we already know that the Chinese tech giant is gearing up to launch the 11i series of 5G smartphones in India in a few days, finer details regarding these devices were still at large. But now, a MySmartPrice report has revealed some interesting information about the upcoming handsets, which include the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge and a base 11i model as well. Raghu Reddy, Chief Business Officer of the company’s India unit told MySmartPrice that “The Xiaomi 11i is going to be the first, or among one of the first to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 920 SoC.”

For those unaware, the Dimensity 920 SoC was announced back in August and has already been powering smartphones in China, although, this chip has yet to make its way to India. In other words, the 11i lineup will be among the first to bring the 5G MediaTek chipset to India. Unfortunately, the senior executive refrained from revealing any finer details regarding the new devices.

Talking about the upcoming smartphones, the Xiaomi 11i and 11i HyperCharge will be based on the Redmi Note 11 series in China. The Note 11 Pro will be the base 11i while the Pro+ variant will be the HyperCharge version. Most specifications are expected to be the same if not identical, but we will have to wait for an official announcement to know for sure.

According to well-known tipster Mukul Sharma, several other Xiaomi and Redmi devices will also debut soon in the Indian market. Here are some of the expected products that are expected to arrive in the country.

The Redmi Smart Band Pro, which is an updated version of the last year’s Redmi Smart Band is likely to launch soon in India. In fact, it is being speculated that it may go official alongside the Redmi Note 11T 5G on Nov. 30. Xiaomi recently unveiled the Redmi Watch 2 Lite in global markets. Probably, this smartwatch may also debut in the country before the end of this year.

It is unclear which other Redmi devices will be launching this year. The Redmi Note 11 series, which is expected to arrive with a refreshed design and different chipset as compared to its Chinese edition, may not launch this year.

Xiaomi India is expected to announce the Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro flagship phones in India soon. A recent report claimed that the Pro model will debut this month in India. These phones were made official in global markets in September. Since the Chinese manufacturer had released Xiaomi Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro in the country, the 11T series are also expected to make their way in the country.
