Xiaomi 12 Ultra to have a 120W fast charging support and a big battery

Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be soon introduced in China and will be an addition to the existing Xiaomi 12 lineup. The leaks so far have revealed some camera details of the smartphone with it having Leica-branded cameras. Now, the tipster DigitalChatStation reveals some more specs of the phone shedding light on its battery.

The tipster reveals that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will have a 4,680mAh battery. This is slightly bigger than the Xiaomi 12 Pro that has a 4,600mAh cell. Furthermore, the Ultra will bag 120W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. This will be an upgrade over the predecessor Mi 11 Ultra’s 67W fast charging.

It is worth noting that the older Mi 10 Ultra did support the same 120W and 50W charging solution. So, Xiaomi seems to skip it last year and is bringing it back again this year. Also, even the current Xiaomi 12 Pro has the same fast charging speeds.

Apart from this, the tipster had earlier revealed that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will feature a Samsung AMOLED panel with a 2k resolution. It will be a curved screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support.

In terms of optics, the device is touted to have a similar camera system as the Mi 11 Ultra. As per a tipster, it will have the same 50MP + 48MP + 48MP triple camera system but will have Leica branded sensors, which is unlike the predecessor. One of these sensors will be a 5x periscope lens.

Although not confirmed, it is expected to come powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. It will have an in-display fingerprint scanner. The device is expected to run on MIUI 13 based on Android 12 OS out of the box.

Xiaomi has already taken wraps off the Xiaomi 12 series in China. However, the series misses the much-rumored Xiaomi 12 Ultra. Rumors are rife that the device may launch soon since leaks for the phone are popping quite frequently. Now, DigitalChatStation reveals that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra may have the same camera hardware as the predecessor.

According to the tipster, the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra will feature the same 50MP + 48MP + 48MP cameras of the last year’s Xiaomi 11 Ultra. If we take a look in detail, the Xiaomi 11 Ultra was launched with a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN2 main sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide lens, and lastly a 48MP telephoto camera with 5x zoom. These are three lenses, however, previous rumors suggest a quad-camera setup on the device.

The last case render which we revealed showed an asymmetrical rear camera system. Having said that, if we go by the tipster’s claim the phone may have the first three lenses the same as the predecessor, but we expect it to carry another lens. The tipster has a mention of a super-telephoto periscope lens in his post, which could actually be the fourth sensor.

As of now, these are just rumors, and we do not have any official confirmation. Now, it remains to be seen what the company officially brings with the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. In case you are unaware, previous rumors have revealed that the phone won’t have a secondary display at the back.

The phone will feature a single screen at the front. It is expected to be a 6.6-inch 2K AMOLED panel. The phone will come powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and have 120W fast charging support.

As for its launch, it was recently revealed that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra may debut after the Chinese Spring festival i.e. by mid or end of February.

While Xiaomi already launched its flagship series, the Xiaomi 12 in China, it is yet to get the most powerful device in the series, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. Rumors suggest that the phone may debut in the coming months with Leica powered cameras and flagship-grade specs. However, a new report on the Internet suggests that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra may never release.

Folks at xiaomiui came with a theory that suggests that the phone may not launch and won’t be on sale. Reportedly, Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi 12 series in December 2021 carrying the following model numbers – L3 for Xiaomi 12 and L2 for Xiaomi 12 Pro. The L1 goes to the Xiaomi Mi Mix 5 Pro, an upcoming premium phone which is yet to launch. And, the L1A goes to the upcoming vanilla Mi Mix 5.

It reveals that the higher the number alongside the letter ‘L’ the higher it stands in the lineup. It further suggests that the L2 which is the Xiaomi 12 Pro is the most powerful phone in the Xiaomi 12 series, but, it shouldn’t be the case as the past rumors revealed that an even powerful phone dubbed Xiaomi 12 Ultra is incoming. But the L1 numbering which should have been reserved for the Ultra is already given to the Xiaomi Mi Mix 5 Pro, the upcoming powerful flagship.

Now, if we focus on the model numbers, Xiaomi 12 – 2201123C and Xiaomi 12 Pro – 2201122C. Here the initial two numbers ’22’ refers to the year 2022 hinting at the 2022 flagships of Xiaomi and 01 refers to the month January.

To corroborate, the upcoming Mi Mix 5 carries the model number 2203121AC, while the Mi Mix 5 Pro has the model number 2203121C. Again, here the 22 means the year 2022, while the 03 refers to the month of March. It goes in line with the rumored March launch of the Mi Mix 5 series.

Finally, the question arises where’s the Xiaomi 12 Ultra and why doesn’t it carry the numbering – L1? The publications suggest that it is not yet licensed and, hence reveal that the 12 Ultra may never launch.

In addition, a popular tipster nonverbally seems to have said that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra isn’t happening and instead the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Mix 5 Pro would take up its position. Even the L1 numbering for the Mix 5 Pro affirms it.

As per the aforementioned leaks, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra’s launch seems to be contingent. But as it doesn’t corroborate with any official statements, we’d recommend our readers to take it with a grain of salt, especially after the Xiaomi 12 Ultra’s numerous leaks which we see every day on the Internet.

Xiaomi 12 Ultra with periscope super-telephoto lens may launch in February

A few days back, Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12X, and Xiaomi 12 Pro phones in China. However, the company didn’t launch the Xiaomi 12 Ultra despite it getting leaked several times. Now, the popular Chinese tipster DigitalChatStation sheds some light on the phone’s launch confirming that the device may launch after the Chinese Spring festival.

According to the tipster, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will debut after the Chinese Spring festival which will start on February 1st. So, we can expect the phone to launch sometime in mid or end February. Similar to the recently launched Xiaomi 12 models, the 12 Ultra will also get released in China initially and may have a global release later in the future.

The tipster reveals that the Xiaomi 12 carrying the codename L1 will have major camera highlights. One of them would be the periscope super-telephoto lens. In addition to this information, a previous leak revealed the device may come with Leica-powered camera sensors. Recently, Leica ended its partnership with Huawei which may result in a new collaboration and it could be with Xiaomi.

The smartphone was previously tipped to come with a quad-camera system at the rear. It will boast a 50MP main Samsung GN5 primary lens, a 48MP 2x zoom lens, a 48MP lens with 5x zooming capability, and lastly a 48MP sensor with 10x zoom.

Our recent exclusive case leak of the phone showcased its camera island. Unlike the predecessor, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will have a circular rear camera module and the major difference between the predecessor and the upcoming phone will be the elimination of a secondary display. For the unware, the Xiaomi 11 was launched with a secondary display and a rectangular camera module.

Apart from the cameras, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra is expected to come with a display that is around 6.5 to 6.6-inch in size and will have a 2k screen resolution. This is similar to the recently launched Xiaomi 12 Pro’s display.

Under the hood, the 12 Ultra will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and is expected to have an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. The phone may come with crazy-fast charging support similar to the Xiaomi 12 Pro’s 120W rapid charging.
