Today, Xiaomi held a launch event in China. The company has unveiled their latest smartphone Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro and also announced upcoming software updates for the Xiaomi 14 series and Xiaomi 13 Ultra.

These Xiaomi Phones Will Be Getting the AI-powered Master Portrait Mode Soon

According to the company, Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro phones will get the “Master Portrait” feature starting in April while the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will get it by June. This feature, debuted on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, uses an AI portrait large model called Xiaomi Portrait LM, and offers functions like AI wrinkle removal, skin tone evening, and teeth and eye enhancement. It also supports high-resolution recording with 4K 60fps continuous zoom, full-range 8K 30fps video recording, and 4K 120fps high frame rate slow motion.

Another software update coming in June is Xiaomi AISP (Xiaomi AI Image Semantic Processor). Touted as the first AI large model computational photography platform, AISP leverages Xiaomi’s HyperOS to integrate the processing power of CPU, GPU, NPU, and ISP, reaching up to 60TOPS.

This allows for features like ULTRA RAW super negative, which offers high color depth, and dynamic range, and is compatible with professional editing software. AISP also boasts a ULTRA SNAP function that can capture 150 photos using advanced algorithms.

A few months back, the Xiaomi 14 Pro Titanium Special Edition was announced in China. This version of the handset arrives in a single 16GB + 1TB memory configuration priced at ¥6,499.

Today, the company unveiled an upgraded version of this device alongside the Xiaomi 14 Ultra Titanium Special Edition. The new variant is slightly more expensive as it offers support for satellite communication.

Xiaomi 14 Pro Titanium Special Edition Satellite Communication is the official name of the latest version. This model carries a price tag of ¥6,999, which makes it ¥500 costlier than the regular titanium variant.

The latest variant replaces the older non-satellite model, which was only sold in limited quantities due to poor yield despite being in high demand.

People who are still interested in the titanium variant of the Xiaomi 14 Pro can now opt for the updated version, which allows them to communicate via satellites in the event of an emergency. However, the company did not reveal availability details.

On the other hand, the first sale of Xiaomi 14 Ultra Titanium Special Edition is scheduled for 10 AM (local time) on March 12. It is priced at ¥8,799 and also comes with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.

Unlike the Xiaomi 14 Pro, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be available in global markets. It will be announced internationally on February 25 ahead of the MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2024.

Xiaomi‘s latest flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 14, will debut globally on February 25th. According to a new leak from Techmaniacs, the smartphone will have a starting price of €1,099 in Greece for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage model.

It’s an increase over the Xiaomi 13’s price, which launched last year at €999 with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. And unfortunately, it seems Xiaomi isn’t being as generous with RAM outside of China.

Chinese Xiaomi 14 models with 512GB storage (or more) boast an impressive 16GB RAM, but it appears to be downgraded for global consumers as the leak shows the 512GB variant is paired with 12GB of RAM.

On the other hand, the leak also supports previous rumors that the Pro version of the Xiaomi 14 will remain exclusive to China. This is likely because the company will also launch the Xiaomi 14 Ultra alongside the vanilla model.

So Xiaomi seems to be betting that consumers will opt either for the base Xiaomi 14 or go all-in on the feature-packed Ultra. This could make the Xiaomi 14 Pro a less desirable option among consumers.

Additionally, a recent report suggests that there’s a special titanium edition of Xiaomi 14 Ultra in development which is said to come in 16GB+1TB configuration only.

There will also be a standard model in 16GB+1TB configuration, which is expected to start at a 7299 yuan ( ~ USD 1,000) price tag, but the titanium edition will cost more, at least by 500 yuan (~ USD 70).

Regardless, both the vanilla and Ultra models will come with flagship features like Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, Leica co-engineered camera, and high-res AMOLED display. We will be sure to keep you informed about the Xiaomi 14 series as soon as any new details become available.

Yesterday, Xiaomi confirmed that it will announce the Xiaomi 14 series on Feb. 25 for the global market. To recall, the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro were announced in October 2023 in China. Since the company used the word “series” in the teaser for the global market, it seems that the brand may announce both phones on the mentioned date globally. However, a new report by GSMChina states that the Pro model will not be released globally. Instead of the Pro model, the company may unveil the Xiaomi 14 Ultra globally on the said date.

Shown above is the teaser image that Xiaomi released yesterday. The circular camera module shown in the image does not match the camera module design of the 14 and 14 Pro but suggests the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, which is said to have a circular camera module.

According to the above-mentioned publication, the URL of this page, which has the countdown for the Xiaomi 14 series, mentions “N1N3,” which is nothing but internal model numbers. For those who don’t know, the Xiaomi 14, 14 Pro, and 14 Ultra have internal model codes N1, N2, and N3, respectively.

Since only N1 and N3 are mentioned in the URL, it appears that only the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Ultra will debut on Feb. 25. In other words, the 14 Pro may not be released globally. The 14 Pro is just a bigger version of the Xiaomi, offering a bigger display and a larger battery. The rest of the specs are almost identical on both phones. Hence, it appears that the company may have decided to skip the Pro variant and launch the 14 Ultra instead.

But a new report suggests that the Xiaomi 14 Pro might be skipping the global launch, and only the standard 14 is expected to hit global markets in January.

This clue comes from Xiaomi’s software development, spotted by eagle-eyed folks at Xiaomiui. The report suggests while Xiaomi is actively working on the global version of the new HyperOS for the Xiaomi 14, there’s no such activity for the Pro model.

The Xiaomi 14 series is said to be the most popular Xiaomi flagship smartphones to date. Both the standard and pro models were sold out in just four hours when they first went on sale.

Analysts say that the company managed to sell 1.4474 million units during the first 10 days on the market. This success also resulted in Xiaomi gaining a huge boost in its market value, which it had been lacking for a while.

Fresh reports from China say that the company is increasing production capacity for both Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro. Multiple supply chain sources have revealed that the firm has increased orders by 40%.

At the same time, one of the top executives at Xiaomi recently hinted at the restocking of the Xiaomi 14 Pro Titanium Special Edition. This particular variant has a low yield rate and has been facing production issues since the beginning. However, the production is expected to get better.

Xiaomi’s latest flagship mobile phone, the Xiaomi 14 Pro, has been a huge success since its launch, achieving record sales and becoming the top-selling Android phone in China.

According to Wall Street Insights, Xiaomi has now sold 1.4474 million Xiaomi 14 series smartphones between the first day of sales on October 31 and the tenth of November. This is a new record for Xiaomi’s premium flagship phones.

Xiaomi is also the only Chinese smartphone company to achieve positive month-on-month growth in the Chinese smartphone market. Its month-on-month growth increased by as much as 8.9%, surpassing Apple’s month-on-month increase of 0.8% by a mile.

Huawei and Honor came in second and third, respectively, in terms of market share. However, both companies saw their market share decline from the previous month. Huawei’s market share fell to 13% from 14%, and Honor’s market share fell to 12.8% from 13.2%.

The base model of the Xiaomi 14 / Pro series smartphone costs 3,999 yuan. There is also a Titanium Special Edition of the Xiaomi 14 Pro available for purchase for 6,499 yuan. It features the same 16GB + 1TB of storage as the standard edition and otherwise is identical in design and features.

Let’s start with the conclusion, I actually don’t like the Xiaomi 14 pro that much compared to the 14, the Xiaomi 14 series isn’t as hierarchical as the 13 series, and compared to the Xiaomi 14, the 14 Pro isn’t as Pro. I think it’s just an option that Xiaomi gives to the big screen lovers. Xiaomi 14 Plus might be more appropriate than being named as Xiaomi 14 pro.

Unbox

In terms of packaging, the 14 Pro comes in a black box with the red Leica logo standing out on top. Aside from the phone itself, there is a very nice case inside the package, as well as a 120w charger.

and finally, like I said in the unboxing video, Xiaomi finally supports USB 3.2 data transfer, with the 14 Pro supporting 10 Gbps, and the 14 supporting 5 Gbps. sounds good right? But the cable included in the package STILL only supports USB2.0.(show hand) . I also tested it with a hard drive connected, and in the case of copying a single large file, it was able to reach 800 MB/s. Not bad at all. Surprisingly, the type-C ports on the Xiaomi 14 series all support 4k 60 FPS video output.

Design

In terms of design, we got the cyan colorway, compared to the previous gen, the color is more intense and more recognizable, of course, it is easy to attract fingerprints, so it would be a better choice to use a case when using the phone.

At the first glance on the front part of the screen, most people will think this is a straight screen phone, but in fact there are tiny and equalized curvature on all sides of the screen. When you look at the corners closely, you will find a rounded arc, at the same time, due to the extremely small bezel, the screen is like floating on the glass. When you focus on the frame, the curvature consistency at the front and back reveals itself, which is very nice to look at. I would give the Xiaomi 14pro a high score on the front design.

But when it comes to the back design, even after a week of use, I still find the back design very mediocre this time around, and I even find it to be rather bulky when looking at the back of the phone from certain angles.

The huge camera bump, the vertical Leica logo, and as for the Clous de Paris texture, it’s very strange to use this kind of treatment on a phone with a rounded design. Some may say this is a legacy from the design language of the Xiaomi 13 series, but I’d say to me it’s a design full of compromises, like forcing your feet into shoes that don’t fit.

Lastly, it’s worth mentioning that the Xiaomi 14 pro uses Dragon Crystal Glass, which is really strong according to some tests within China. Take this picture as an example, the metal frame is shattered but the screen is still unharmed. It’s a bit of an exaggeration, but it can prove that Dragon Crystal Glass is not a publicity gimmick.

Perfoemance

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is by far the best phone chip. Yes, better than the A17 Pro. I didn’t expect 8 Gen 3 to improve so much when last year’s 8 Gen 2 was already so strong. Let’s start with its architecture. Not only is the CPU getting a frequency bump this time, but it’s also swapping out a small core for another big one. The powerful GPU has been further increased in frequency and size. The chip is made by TSMC N4P, so there shouldn’t be thermal issues.

Okay, when it comes to the benchmark session, you can clearly see that the 8 Gen 3 beat up the other chips in terms of multi-core scores, there are still some gaps in the single core performance compared to the A17 Pro, but overall I think 8 Gen 3 is on par with A17 Pro in CPU performance. Let’s get to the next page. WOW, still the one with the highest score and much lower power consumption than the A17 Pro. Stability doesn’t seem to be much of an issue either.

In terms of GPU performance, it’s safe to say that no SOC on any phone can match the performance of the 8 Gen 3. In the GPU benchmark, there’s still a 20% improvement compared to the 8 Gen 2.

The 8 Gen 3 has a much better power consumption ratio, and in Genshin Impact, with the same resolution and very high graphic presets, 8 Gen 3 consumes less power compared to the 8 Gen 2. 

You wouldn’t believe that a phone’s GPU is already as powerful as the NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti-Max-Q in your laptop. We’ve had enough of NVIDIA’s product strategy for a couple of years now, and I’m glad Qualcomm isn’t doing that.Good Job,Qualcomm.

Overall, I’m very happy with the performance improvements of 8 gen 3, which has a performance increase of about 20% in CPU and GPU than last gen, and a 15% reduction in power consumption. Qualcomm finally has the strongest soc on the market!

And the good news is that Qualcomm has the Nuvia chip design team now, there’s a good chance that this boost will keep going in Qualcomm’s next generation SOC.

Camera

Comparing the camera hardware with Xiaomi 13 PRO, instead of using a Sony’s 1-inch sensor, Xiaomi 14 PRO uses a 1/1.31-inch sensor from Omnivision – The Light Hunter 900 – for its main camera sensor and pairs it with a large F1.4 aperture lens.

Seriously I was very curious to see how well the camera would perform, first of all here are some photos taken. (Photos) I really like Xiaomi’s Leica camera, most of us don’t need photos that retain a lot of information about highlights and shadows, all we want is good looking photos and I’m glad Xiaomi has done that.

Of course, I took some sample photos and compared them with the Xiaomi 13 pro and there is a very noticeable improvement.

In this picture taken with the light coming from the side, both the colors and the details of the trees in the photo are much better on Xiaomi 14 pro.

In this set of photos with backlit, the Xiaomi 13 pro’s image saturation level significantly reduced, and the Xiaomi 14 pro’s colors remain very satisfying.

Similarly, in this set of sunset photos, the Xiaomi 14 pro’s sunset is more realistic, and the edge of sunset on Xiaomi 13 pro’s is overexposed.

In dark light, the Xiaomi 14 pro was able to keep more detail than the Xiaomi 13pro’s. The large f1.4 aperture really makes up for the gap in sensor size, and the Xiaomi 14 pro supports variable aperture, which means there are more ways to play with it, such as narrowing the aperture, to achieve this effect.

Compared to the Xiaomi 14, which uses the same sensor, the large f1.4 aperture allows for photos with a softer background bokeh, as well as higher quality photos in darker light conditions.

In terms of shooting experience, the image is only 30fps on the Xiaomi 14pro’s camera, but 60fps when using the 13pro, which is very strange.

Lastly, when it comes to telephoto lenses, the Xiaomi 14 and 14 pro have focal length of 2.6x and 2.9x respectively, which means that the Xiaomi 14 pro is closer to the native focal length and has a better image quality when also shooting with 3.2x.

Overall, I’m very happy with the camera enhancements of the Xiaomi 14pro, and in addition to the powerful hardware, the Leica imaging makes it easy for me to have good colorful photos.

Screen

The Xiaomi 14 pro uses a 6.73-inch micro-curved screen with a panel from TCL’s latest C8 with a resolution of 3200×1440.

When you first get the phone, it defaults to an FHD+ resolution, and you need to manually turn on the highest resolution. In terms of screen clarity, the Xiaomi 14 pro can satisfy everyone, it is clear and sharp enough even with FHD+ resolution. The manual brightness is 500nit, 1000nit in strong light. Under high brightness it is DC dimming mode, high-frequency PWM dimming in low brightness.

Unlike the Xiaomi 14, full DC dimming is not available on the Xiaomi 14 pro. But that doesn’t mean the Xiaomi 14pro’s screen isn’t as good as the Xiaomi 14, in my experience, I think the Xiaomi 14pro’s screen is better than the Xiaomi 14 all around.

I have to say that when it comes to watching videos, the Xiaomi 14pro does offer a better experience.

Lastly, the slightly curved glass design on all sides results in some shadows on the edges of the screen, this is due to the nature of the curved glass and it is difficult to notice during normal use.

HyperOS

In recent days of simple use, HyperOS is indeed smoother than MIUI14,the animations remain at 120fps almost the entire time, while the performance of the 13pro with MIUI14 is slightly worse. Moreover, HyperOS has reset the icons, and it’s hard to notice the difference without comparing it. a more detailed comparison between HyperOS and MIUI will be in a separate video, which we still need some time to complete.

Battery & Charging

Xiaomi 14pro uses a 4880mAh battery with a separate cell, which is considered very good in terms of daily use, 20 minutes of Genshin Impact takes 9%, 30 minutes of 1080P video playback takes 4% and 4% in 30 minutes of tiktok, which is excellent among flagship phones.Meanwhile.

the charging performance is also very good, with a 120W GaN charger, it takes just 25 minutes to fully charge the phone. Many people may not have used such high charging power, the experience is outstanding, even if you forget to charge the phone before going to bed at night, the time you take washing up can have the phone juiced up again. Speaker

In terms of speakers, both the 14 and 14pro are pretty good, there is not much difference between the two, with the 14pro being slightly better. One more thing, the Xiaomi 14pro has a better linear motor!

User experience

With the time I’ve been using the Xiaomi 14pro, I must say that the Xiaomi 14pro does fulfill all my fantasies of a flagship phone, it’s excellent in every aspect, with no obvious shortcomings. MIUI, which most people complained about before, has also changed, and I’m very happy to see Xiaomi making such changes.

Shortly after the Xiaomi 14 series was made accessible to buyers, the company reported remarkable sales figures from the first sale.

According to the brand’s Weibo post, the Xiaomi 14 series broke the previous year’s record for “first-day and full-day sales” on major Chinese online retailer platforms like Tmall, Jingdong Mall, Douyin, and Kuaishou by selling out within the first four hours of its initial sale. However, Xiaomi did not disclose the exact sales figures for the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro.

The brand also said that the Xiaomi 14 series achieved a remarkable sixfold increase in first-sale sales compared to the previous generation in just five minutes of making it available for purchase. Xiaoyan Wang, the VP/President for Xiaomi China, claimed that the Xiaomi Home online store experienced technical difficulties due to the overwhelming number of users purchasing the Xiaomi 14 series.

Several factors have played a role in the outstanding sales performance of the Xiaomi 14 series. These include its impressive design, which is an enhanced iteration of the Xiaomi 13 series, the incorporation of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, and the introduction of the all-new HyperOS user experience. Additionally, both smartphones feature a Leica-optimized Light Hunter 900 primary camera in addition to a unique Leica Summilux lens, providing a high-quality photography experience. Here is a look at the pricing of the Xiaomi 14 series.

The Xiaomi 14 series pricing is as follows: The base model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage is priced at ¥3,999 (~$546), the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant costs ¥4,299 (~$587), while the 16GB RAM + 256GB storage and 16GB RAM + 512GB storage models are available at ¥4,599 (~$628) and ¥4,999 (~$683) respectively.

On the other hand, the Xiaomi 14 Pro comes with different configurations: The 12GB RAM + 256GB storage version is priced at ¥4,999 ($683), the 16GB RAM + 256GB storage variant costs ¥5,499 (~$750), the 16GB RAM + 1TB storage model is available for ¥5,999 (~$819), and the 16GB RAM + 1TB storage variant with a titanium alloy frame is priced at ¥6,499 (~$888).

At present, there is no information available about the global launch timeframe of the 14 series.

The Xiaomi 14 series is one of the first smartphones to be powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. This chip is a powerhouse, but there is one big omission—it lacks native support for 32-bit apps.

However, Xiaomi has found a workaround for this issue with the help of a 32-bit to 64-bit binary translator called Tango. This translator allows 32-bit apps to run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip without any issues.

This is great news for users who still rely on some 32-bit apps. It also means that other smartphone manufacturers can use Tango in their Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered devices to ensure compatibility with older apps.

Why is this important?

Google has been pushing developers to switch to 64-bit apps for a while now and the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor doesn’t support 32-bit apps as well. However, not all developers have made the switch yet. This means that there are still a significant number of 32-bit apps available on the Google Play Store.

Without Tango, users of the Xiaomi 14 series would not be able to run these apps. This would have been a major inconvenience for many users.

How does the Tango translator on Xiaomi 14 work?

Tango is a binary translator. This means that it converts 32-bit machine code into 64-bit machine code. This allows 32-bit apps to run on 64-bit processors.

Tango is a very efficient translator. It can translate machine code at runtime with minimal performance overhead. This means that users should not notice any difference in performance when running 32-bit apps on the Xiaomi 14 series.

Expert Mishaal Rahman has confirmed that Tango is working properly and that 32-bit apps, such as Flappy Bird, can run on the Xiaomi 14 series.

In Conclusion

Xiaomi’s implementation of Tango in the Xiaomi 14 series is a welcome relief. It ensures that users can still run their favorite 32-bit apps on the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered device.

It is also possible that other smartphone manufacturers will follow Xiaomi’s example and implement Tango in their own Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered devices. This would be a great thing for users, as it would ensure compatibility with older apps across a wider range of devices.

Last week, the Xiaomi 14 Pro Titanium Special Edition was announced alongside the vanilla Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro. Unlike the other two models, the special variant is yet to go on open sale.

Thus, confusion arose among netizens regarding the availability of the titanium edition. Thankfully, a Xiaomi executive clarified this matter today.

Xiaomi user operation manager shed some light on the availability of the Xiaomi 14 Pro Titanium Special Edition on Weibo.

He says that the yield rate of this device is low at the moment. Hence, only a few units will be up for grabs when the first batch ships.

However, the executive assures that the product will be restocked once the production capacity ramps up. He also adds that the handset will not be sold in limited quantities, suggesting a better availability in the future.

He urges interested customers to wait. Finally, he mentions that people with F-codes can pre-order the phone. But even so, the wait time is about half a month.

The Xiaomi 14 Pro Titanium Special Edition is priced at ¥6,499 (~$890). It arrives with 16GB RAM, 1TB storage, and the same specs as the regular Xiaomi 14 Pro.

But it gets a titanium alloy middle frame, Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass protection on the front and rear, a titanium grey paint job, and an orange accent for the camera island.

Xiaomi’s recent launch of the Xiaomi 14 series has been met with much fanfare, thanks to the top-of-the-line specifications and features on offer. But there is one hidden surprise feature that hasn’t been talked about much—UltraSpace storage expansion.

It is a patented new technology that Xiaomi uses in the Xiaomi 14 series to expand the phone’s available storage beyond its original capacity using available UFS storage.

This may be confusing for some, so let me explain it with an example.

Xiaomi 14: 264GB storage on a 256GB model with UltraSpace storage expansion

In simpler terms, UltraSpace storage expansion is a feature that gives you more space on your smartphone without adding any extra physical storage. Typically, you’d sacrifice storage space for more virtual RAM, but Xiaomi’s implementation offers more storage instead—like pulling a rabbit out of a hat!

For example, if you buy a 256GB Xiaomi 14 Pro, you will actually have 264GB of total storage space on your phone, with 8GB of extra free space thanks to this new technology.

Xiaomi is cleverly using the space reserved for Over-Provisioning (OP) in the UFS memory chip for this. OP is a technique used to improve the performance and reliability of flash memory by reserving a portion of the storage space for tasks such as Wear Leveling (WC), Garbage Collection (GC), and Bad Block Mapping. 

The company found that this space is often too large, for example, a 256GB UFS memory chip actually has a real capacity of more than 266GB, which means over 10GB of space is reserved for OP.

However, Xiaomi engineers found a way to free up this extra space without sacrificing performance or reliability. The company says it rewrote the system (HyperOS) firmware and optimized it to use much less space, freeing up 8/16GB on their 256/512GB storage models, giving them “264/528GB” of actual usable storage.

As a result, the 256GB version of the Xiaomi 14 Pro has 8GB expanded storage to make it 264GB, while the 512GB version of the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro has 16GB expanded storage to make it 528GB.

This is a significant increase in storage space, which can be useful for storing more applications, photos, videos, and other data. It is also worth noting that this technology does not require any additional hardware, so it does not increase the cost of the smartphone.

However, Xiaomi’s new UltraSpace storage expansion technology is only available on the 256GB model of the Xiaomi 14 Pro and the 512GB model of the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro.

This leaves a few unanswered questions, such as why the 256GB model of the Xiaomi 14 does not get the same 8GB expansion, and why there is no mention of UltraSpace storage expansion for the 1TB variant. 

Despite this, the UltraSpace storage expansion is a promising new technology that could offer significant benefits to users.

Xiaomi, in collaboration with Leica, recently released its brand new next generation of premium camera phones, the Xiaomi 14 series, on its original shores of China. The Xiaomi and Leica partnership has been ongoing since July 2021, the launch Xiaomi 12S series, and since then, Xiaomi has released 10 smartphones (excluding foldables) with the Leica branding on them. And today, in this guide, we are planning to clear up some confusion on which Leica-branded Xiaomi smartphone has the best camera setup for its users to take photos and videos.

This guide will be ranked based on the versatility of the camera setup, then the lens sported on setup, according to the Leica rating branded on Xiaomi’s camera phones. And now without further ado, here’s the full list of the Leica-branded Xiaomi smartphones from least versatility to most versatility in photography.

Least Versatility

Let’s start with the least versatile Leica-branded Xiaomi camera setups, which are respectively found on the 4 flagships: Xiaomi 13T, Xiaomi 13T Pro, Xiaomi 12S, and Xiaomi 12S Pro. 

All camera systems of the 4 devices sport a camera setup that has a Leica VARIO-SUMMICRON rating, an aspherical lens, and a 15 mm to 50 mm lens range for ultra-wide (15 mm, 0.65x optical), standard (23 mm, 1x optical) and zoom (50 mm, 2.17x optical) shots, with an exception to 12S Pro which has an ultra-wide of 14 mm, 0.61x optical. 

The Xiaomi 13T and 13T Pro have a shorter aperture range of f/1.9 to f/2.2, compared to the longer aperture range of f/1.9 to f/2.4 found on the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro. Although these 4 devices have the lowest-rated versatility among the 10 Leica-branded Xiaomi smartphones, these devices still sport the same Leica custom photographic styles in their camera interface, Leica’s master-lens system for bokeh photos, as well as the signature Leica Vibrant and Leica Authentic looks to provide the user the choice of either true-to-life photos with their smartphone or the more saturated and punchier look that can be obtained from the device.

Nonetheless, the Xiaomi 13T series and Xiaomi 12S series sport a great camera setup that makes the user want to experiment with their cameras more due to the Leica shooting experience, and for the majority of users, these 4 devices are more than enough for shooting great photos in the outdoors and in the indoors. Not to mention, the Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 12S are currently the cheapest Leica-branded smartphones in the market as of November 2023. Thus, providing the premium Leica shooting experience for those on a lower budget.

Moderate Versatility

Next, we have the 4 smartphones ranked with a moderate versatility ranking in their camera setup, which are respectively the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro. 

These devices feature a longer lens range, giving better versatility than the Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 12S. The lens ranges of the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 14 series are respectively ultra-wide (14 mm, 0.61x optical), standard (23 mm, 1x optical), 2x zoom (50 mm, 2.17x optical), and 3x zoom (75 mm, 3.26x optical). The exception is the Xiaomi 13 which goes from 15 – 75 mm instead of the 14 mm – 75 mm found on the other 3 devices.

With a longer lens range, better versatility is provided in the camera setup as photos and videos have less noise at when shot at different focal lengths. In turn, you can take better photos when zooming into your subject, as less camera noise is in the shot. All 4 devices sport an aspherical lens and are able to shoot up to a max f/2.2 aperture for the photos. However, it should be noted that the Xiaomi 13 series uses Leica’s VARIO-SUMMICRON lenses which have a lower aperture range that starts at f/1.8, whereas the Xiaomi 14 series uses the Leica VARIO-SUMMILUX lenses which are known for its wider aperture and outstanding low-light shots in the dark. Thus, the Xiaomi 14 series, like the Xiaomi 14 Pro also has a longer variable aperture range from f/1.42 to f/2.2 for great shots, no matter in low-light or bright lighting conditions.

The Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 14 strike a balance between the lineup with its great camera hardware and accessibility towards the buyers. And users will be more satisfied towards these devices over the Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 12S if they want more camera versatility in their pockets.

Most Versatility

Last but not least, the the Leica-branded smartphones with the most versatile camera setup in Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone lineup, are none other than the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and Xiaomi 13 Ultra. 

With the longest lens range out of all the 10 Leica-branded smartphones (13-120 mm and 12-120 mm), these devices are capable of taking photos in ultra-wide (12 mm at 0.52x optical on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra) (13 mm on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra), standard (23 mm, 1x optical), 2x zoom (50 mm, 2.17x optical), 3x zoom (75 mm, 3.26x optical), and 5x periscope zoom (120 mm, 5.22x optical).

With so much versatility between 0.5x ultra-wide to 5x optical zoom shots, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and Xiaomi 13 Ultra provide unparalleled Leica shots whether near or far away from the subject. Both are the best camera smartphones that Xiaomi has to offer, and probably sport one of the best camera setups in the entire smartphone industry. The aperture range of the Ultra devices is also the biggest range in the Leica-branded lineup, with f/1.9 to f/4.0 on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, and f/1.8 to f/3.0 on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.

However, this guide only focuses on the camera rating that Leica has branded on the Xiaomi smartphones. A smartphone is not only for taking photos, but also used for daily tasks such as gaming, checking social media and browsing the Internet. And the newly released Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro sport the world’s fastest chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 onboard. Xiaomi introduced a new in-house protective glass for its latest flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 14 Pro. Called Dragon Crystal Glass, the new material is claimed to be the hardest and most durable smartphone glass on the market. So let’s talk about Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal Glass in detail here.

Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass is up to 10 times more resistant to falls

According to Xiaomi, Dragon Crystal Glass is made with a combination of raw materials including lithium oxide, silicon dioxide, aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide, phosphorus pentoxide, and sodium oxide. 

These materials are treated at a temperatures exceeding 1600°C for 100 hours which results in the formation of nano-sized crystals (about 25 nanometers in size) within the glass. These crystals form an interlocking structure that provides the glass with remarkable strength. 

Xiaomi says that Dragon Crystal Glass has a Vickers hardness of 860 HV0.025. This makes it significantly harder than other popular display protection solutions, such as Huawei Kunlun Glass 2 (830 HV0.025), Apple Ceramic Shield Glass (814 HV0.025), and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 (670 HV0.025).

Here’s a breakdown of the phone’s glass and their Vickers hardness in a table. 

As a result of such an internal structure, Xiaomi claims that the Xiaomi 14 Pro display is up to 10 times more resistant to falls than conventional reinforced glass.

In addition to its durability, Dragon Crystal Glass is also highly transparent. This is because the diameter of the internal microcrystalline particles is very small and evenly distributed. As a result, Dragon Crystal Glass does not sacrifice image quality for durability.

Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass in Test

Xiaomi has also released a video showcasing the strength and durability of Dragon Crystal Glass. The video shows Xiaomi’s solution competing against regular tempered glass in two rounds.

In the first round, the two glasses are thrown into each other with the same force. The Dragon Crystal Glass directly smashes the tempered glass without any damage.

In the second round, both glasses are scratched on a concrete surface at high speed. The tempered glass is left with obvious and irreparable scratches, while the Dragon Crystal Glass remains unscathed.

In Conclusion

Overall, Xiaomi’s new Dragon Crystal Glass solution seems like a step forward in making devices more reliable. It’s a reminder that while there are always new and exciting features being added to smartphones, sometimes, addressing a simple issue can be just as impactful.

Thanks to the hot sales of the Xiaomi 13 in China, the Xiaomi Store was again very busy on the day of the Xiaomi 14’s launch. People couldn’t wait to see what the successor to the Xiaomi 13, the Xiaomi 14, actually looked like. It also shows that Xiaomi has made a lot of progress on its flagship phone.

Unboxing

As usual, Xiaomi has differentiated the Standard and Pro versions in black and white. I chose to unbox the standard version first because I was more interested in it. There is a small box with a card pin. Instructions and a warranty card. There is also a phone case. The case is the same as the Redmi Note 13 Pro this time, a black silicone case. On the bottom, there is a 90W charger, still with a USB-A port. The charging cable is also USB A to C, nothing special.

The Xiaomi 14 Pro has the same accessories except the charger has become a 120W one. I won’t go into the details further.

Design

When I saw the poster for the Xiaomi 14, I thought it wouldn’t look good. But when I saw it in person, it wasn’t as ugly as I thought it would be. Aside from the fact that it looks incongruous because the camera module is bigger, Xiaomi has surrounded the camera with a ring of Clous de Paris texture. They say this design is often used on luxury watches, so it looks premium. But I don’t think it’s premium, I think it looks more like my grandma’s nail file, and it really does sharpen your nails.

Compared to the Xiaomi 13, it’s clear that the design of the Xiaomi 14 is a step back. It’s comforting to know that even though the camera is bigger, the size and weight is about the same as the previous gen. As long as you don’t look at the camera module, the overall feel is very much like the Xiaomi 13.

There’s also an unobtrusive upgrade point, all the sensors on the top frame have been moved to the camera module, so the top frame is now very clean. There’s an exclusive pink vegan leather version for the standard model, which is a pretty color to look at. I’m a vegan leather hater though, so I definitely wouldn’t buy it. The black version with frosted glass is also very cool, and the non-fingerprinting feature should be a hit for a lot of people.

The back of the Pro is pretty much the bigger version of the standard, nothing special about it. The surprise is all on the front. The display isn’t like the curved display before. It’s curved all around, but it barely affects the display area. It looks a bit like the HUAWEI Mate 60 Pro, but the flat bezels make it look tougher.

LeiJun has a very accurate description for the Xiaomi 14 Pro: it looks like a flat-screen but feels like a curved screen. It looks like a pebble and feels truly flawless to the touch.

Display

This time the the display panels of both the Pro and Standard versions are not from Samsung, they are replaced by TCL’s C8 panel. The resolution of the standard version is slightly higher, the DPI reaches 460, and supports LTPO, and full brightness DC dimming. More eye protection and a clearer screen to make up for the regret in the Xiaomi 13.

The chin is narrower than the 13, though our eyes can’t tell the difference. The Pro version has a bump in brightness compared to its predecessor, and the protective glass has switched to its own Dragon Crystal Glass. Anyway, both phones are top-of-the-line when it comes to screens, so there’s nothing to worry about.

SOC

Both the Xiaomi 14 Pro and the standard version use the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, with a 30% boost in CPU and 25% in GPU compared to its predecessor. The Antutu bench we tested in the field actually scored just under 2 million, which is a 29% improvement over the Xiaomi 13 we tested.

Though we can’t do a gaming test yet. But a lot of Chinese media have already tested and praised 8 Gen 3 a lot, so I’m very optimistic about this new chip. When the full review is ready, I’ll let you know how powerful it is.

Differences between Standard and Pro

After my comparison of the spec info on the official website, apart from the size, there are only five differences between the Xiaomi 14 Pro and the standard version: the screen, the camera, the USB-C transfer speed, the battery capacity, and the charging speed.

Battery and charging speed are decided by the size of the phone, so it’s to be expected that the standard version is not as good as the Pro version. You can find that they are not really that different, so this time it’s certainly possible to skip the specs and choose your favorite model based only on size.

By the way, in addition to USB 3.0, this time the front camera can also record 4K videos. I’m glad we have one less point to spit on.

HyperOS

I know that this new HyperOS is what you’re most concerned about. The biggest upgrade to HyperOS is the seamless IoT connectivity, but if you just look at the phone itself, there’s not much that’s changed. most of MIUI’s operating logic has been inherited by HyperOS.

The good news, is HyperOS has Google services inside, meaning apps like YouTube and Google Play can run on the Xiaomi 14. For more in-depth content, you will have to wait until we get the phone, stay tuned for our HyperOS deep review video.

Price & Conclusion

Other than the camera module design that is not to my personal taste, it’s a considerable improvement. Compared to the 13 series, the standard Xiaomi 14 has a more powerful camera and faster charging. the Pro version has a better screen and stronger performance. It’s cheaper at launch instead, so what are you waiting for, just buy it.

Yesterday. The Xiaomi 14 series went official in China. The latest flagships from the company arrive with multiple upgrades. One of them is their displays.

It was revealed that these phones use screens from a Chinese supplier. To be specific, they feature display panels from TCL CSOT.

Let’s check out these displays in detail.

Displays on Xiaomi 14 series are 17% more power-efficient

The displays on Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are almost identical with a few differences. The panel on the standard model is smaller and offers a slightly lower resolution. It even uses a different fingerprint sensor solution and is protected by an unnamed glass.

For starters, the Xiaomi 14 sports a 6.36-inch screen with a resolution of 2670 x 1200 pixels (1.5K) and 460 PPI. Whereas, the Xiaomi 14 Pro flaunts a larger 6.73-inch panel with a resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels (2K) and 522 PPI.

Both displays use C8 luminescent material, which is jointly developed by TCL CSOT and Xiaomi. This new material reduces power consumption by more than 17% compared to the previous generation. It also enables up to 3,000 nits of local peak brightness level.

These 10-bit 1-120Hz LTPO screens support up to 12-bit software-based color depth. They have a 240Hz native touch sampling rate and up to 2160Hz  software-based instant touch sampling rate.

They cover 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and offer support for multiple HDR standards, such as Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HDR Vivid. Both panels have a centered punch-hole but the one on the pro model is slightly curved compared to a completely flat surface on the vanilla variant.

The pro variant has an ultra-thin fingerprint sensor underneath its display, which is protected by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass. On the other hand, the standard model has a regular fingerprint sensor and its screen is protected by an unnamed glass.

Finally, the bezels on the Xiaomi 14 are the thinnest on a flat-screen smartphone. The top bezel measures just 1.61mm, while the bottom bezel is slightly thicker at 1.71mm.

The Xiaomi 14 series just went official a few hours back. As expected, the company unveiled two devices, namely Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro.

Just like a leak suggested in August, the firm also announced a special edition of Xiaomi 14 Pro. This version of the phone features a titanium alloy frame and comes in a unique colorway.

Let’s check out how this variant differs from the regular model.

The Xiaomi 14 Pro Titanium Special Edition sports a titanium alloy middle frame. The company claims that the device uses 99% aerospace-grade titanium.

Further, the handset features Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass both on the front and the back. For comparison, the standard Xiaomi 14 Pro uses this glass only for the display.

It arrives in a titanium grey color option with an orange accent for the bottom layer of the camera island. Finally, it is offered in a single 16GB + 1TB memory configuration.

Apart from the aforementioned cosmetic changes, the specs of the special variant remain the same as the regular version

The Xiaomi 14 Pro Titanium Special Edition is priced at ¥6,499 (~$890). This makes it ¥500 (~$70) more expensive than the standard Xiaomi 14 Pro for the same amount of RAM and storage.

The Xiaomi 14 series is confirmed to launch outside mainland China. However, it is not known if the Titanium Special Edition will make its way to global markets.

Xiaomi 14 Pro specifications and features

The Xiaomi 14 Pro is not as compact as its smaller sibling i.e. the Xiaomi 14. However, it shares the same design language including a boxy design and a large protruding square camera module on the back panel. The smartphone is IP68-certified making it resistant to dust and water. The screen is also shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 against scratches and accidental damages. 

In terms of display, the Xiaomi 14 Pro boasts a 6.7-inch OLED 12-bit screen with curved edges and remarkably narrow 1mm bezels. The display bears a 2K resolution, 120Hz LTPO refresh rate, and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. It offers 3,000 nits peak brightness which is the highest on any smartphone. On the audio front, the smartphone is equipped with Dolby Atmos dual stereo speakers

On the optics front, the Xiaomi 14 Pro sports triple-rear cameras with legendary camera maker Leica’s technology onboard. The device has a Hunter 900 50MP main sensor with 23mm focal length, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens with 14mm focal length, and a 50MP telephoto unit with 75mm focal length. It has a variable aperture feature and the main as well as telephoto lens support OIS. The smartphone is touted to quickly open the camera and shoot scenes in 0.8 seconds. It is capable of recording up to 8K video. For selfies, the Xiaomi 14 Pro has a 32MP front-facing snapper.

Internally, the Xiaomi 14 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor under the hood. It packs up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. The device has a heat dissipation system onboard. The smartphone is backed by a 4,880mAh battery unit with support for 120W fast wired, 50W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging. Out of the box, the Xiaomi 14 Pro ships with the company’s newest HyperOS based on Android 14 with new design and features. 

Other features on the Xiaomi 14 Pro include with WiFi-7, X-Axis linear motor, Bluetooth, 4-mic array, 5G, and more.

Later today, Xiaomi will unveil the much-awaited Xiaomi 14 series of smartphones in the Chinese market. While the company is silent on the Pro model, the brand has already released a lot of official images of the standard model. A couple of hours before the official announcement, tipster Digital Chat Station shared a couple of live shots of the Xiaomi 14. In addition, he also released a screenshot of the AnTuTu listing of the device. Another leak has revealed the prices of the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset-equipped Xiaomi 14 scored 1,992,387 on the AnTuTu benchmarks, just a little bit lower than the Dimensity 9300 device on the same platform. To recall, the Dimensity 9300 device recently secured the highest-ever AnTuTu score of 2,055,084. Furthermore, the Xiaomi 14’s AnTuTu score falls below Qualcomm’s official claim, which states that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 can reach a maximum score of 2,139,281 on AnTuTu benchmarks.

In the CPU test of AnTuTu, the Xiaomi 14 scored 424,541 points. In the GPU, memory, and UX tests, it scored 855,774, 391,434, and 320,638 points, respectively. Shown below are the live shots of the Xiaomi 14 released by the tipster.

Xiaomi has already confirmed that the Xiaomi 14 will feature a 6.36-inch Huaxing C8 OLED display that offers a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 3,000 nits of brightness. It will come preloaded with the company’s self-developed HyperOS, which will be overlaid on Android 14.

According to tipster Ishan Agarwal, the Xiaomi 14 series will offer up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage. He added that the Xiaomi 14’s base variant (8GB+256GB) will be priced at 4,299 Yuan (~$587), whereas the 14 Pro’s starting model (12GB+256GB) will cost 5,399 Yuan (~$739). The Xiaomi 14 will come in multiple shades, such as white, black, pink, and green, whereas the 14 Pro will be available in white, black, and green.

The Xiaomi 14 series is set to go official tomorrow. The company’s latest flagship smartphones will be unveiled at the conference which will begin at 7 PM GMT+8.

Ever since the company revealed the launch date on Monday, it has been teasing the features of these phones. Now, just a day before the launch, Xiaomi has announced a special sale for these handsets.

Xiaomi says that one of its online retail partners, JD.com, will hold a special sale event for the Xiaomi 14 series as soon as the keynote ends tomorrow. A total of 2,000 units will be up for grabs.

The exact memory configurations and color variants eligible for purchase will be only revealed when the sale begins. However, it has been confirmed that 1,000 units each of Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro will be on sale.

Customers who manage to order either of the two smartphones will receive a Xiaomi City Backpack 2nd Gen for free and a ¥50 JD voucher. They can also avail of up to 24 months of no-cost EMI, an exchange offer of up to ¥1,400, and an official warranty extension at 40% off.

A couple of hours ago, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset at the 2023 Snapdragon Summit. At the event, Xiaomi Group President and President of the International Department, Lu Weibing, showcased the actual Xiaomi 14 series device to reveal its design in real life. In addition, the brand has rolled out a couple of posters to reveal the display specifications of the Xiaomi 14.

Xiaomi 14 color options, design

The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro will share the same design, with the standard being a compact version of the larger Pro model. In terms of design, the Xiaomi 14 series features a flat display instead of the curved-edge screen that was offered on the predecessor series. The glass edges on the back of the phone have a more pronounced curvature, enhancing the overall feel and ensuring a comfortable grip.

The Xiaomi 14 will be offered in four color options: black, white, green, and pink. The Pro variant will also come in three colors, excluding pink. It is worth mentioning that both smartphones will debut tomorrow (Oct. 26) as the world’s first smartphones featuring the all-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The 14 series will also be the company’s first smartphones to come equipped with its self-developed HyperOS operating system, which will be overlaid on the Android 14.

HyperOS is not the only new thing on the Xiaomi 14 series, because the Xiaomi 14 series is also the first Xiaomi flagship smartphones to sport Leica’s high-end Summilux lenses. And today, Xiaomi has officially revealed the camera specs of its Xiaomi 14 in collaboration with Leica.

As shown in Xiaomi’s official announcement on Chinese social media Weibo, the Xiaomi 14 will be sporting a Leica VARIO-SUMMILUX 1:1.6-2.2/14-75 ASPH camera setup on the back. Simplifying the abbreviation, it means that the Xiaomi 14 is equipped with an aspherical lens, and is capable of taking photos and videos from the wide aperture of f/1.6 to f/2.2, in distances from 14 mm to 75 mm with Leica DLSR-level quality. 

Speaking in more mainstream terms, the Xiaomi 14’s camera setup has a standard main lens (23 mm), an ultra-wide angle lens with a 0.6x view (14 mm), and a telephoto camera capable of 3.2x optical zoom (75 mm). The device is now upgraded to a variable aperture of between f/1.6 and f/2.2, improved from last year’s f/1.8 to f/2.2.

For comparison, the table below showcases the main Leica-rated camera quality of the Xiaomi 14 vs the Xiaomi 13.

The Xiaomi 14 will be Xiaomi’s first flagship smartphone to feature Leica’s premium Summilux lenses, which are normally found on Leica’s digital and DSLR cameras for above 2000 USD. Xiaomi says that the company’s upcoming Xiaomi 14 flagships are the next big step in mobile photography.

Xiaomi is conducting a launch event in China on October 26 where it will announce multiple devices including the next-generation Xiaomi 14 series. The upcoming flagship smartphones have been doing the rounds of the rumor mill. Earlier today, the standard variant appeared on the Geekbench database. Now the Pro model has also been spotted on the benchmarking platform.

The Xiaomi 14 Pro is listed on Geekbench with model number 23116PN5BC. The database mentions the motherboard codenamed ‘shennong’ and it comprises two cores clocked at 2.27GHz, another two cores at 2.296GHz, three cores ticking at 3.15GHz, and a prime core at 3.30GHz. It likely corresponds to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 that is set to be announced later this week. The listing reveals 16GB RAM onboard and we can expect more variants at launch. The smartphone will ship with Android 14 OS layered with HyperOS on the top. 

In the Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core test results, the Xiaomi 14 Pro scored 2,150 and 6,892 points respectively. 

Meanwhile, the leaked renders have revealed the Xiaomi 14 Pro with a boxy form factor and a large square camera module housing four sensors. It is confirmed to feature a Leica Summilux lens that is said to be better than the Summicron on predecessor models. The leaked marketing material of the device also revealed an IP68 dust and water-resistant rating, Dolby Vision, and Hi-Res Wireless Audio certification. 

We should learn more official details about the Xiaomi 14 series on Thursday.

Xiaomi has finally confirmed the launch date of its upcoming Xiaomi 14 series phones. The launch event is scheduled for Thursday, October 26 at 7 PM Beijing time.

The Xiaomi 14 series is expected to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which will be announced at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit on October 24.

Xiaomi has already confirmed that the Xiaomi 14 series will use Leica Summilux lenses. This is the first time that Xiaomi will use Leica Summilux lenses on its smartphones. Prior to this, the brand used Leica Summicron lenses on its previous flagship smartphones, including the Xiaomi 12/13 series and the Xiaomi 12S Ultra concept phone.

Rumors suggest that Xiaomi will launch two smartphones in the Xiaomi 14 series: the Xiaomi 14 and the Xiaomi 14 Pro. The design of the Pro model has been recently revealed through renders, which show the phone with a flat display, a departure from the curved-edge design of its predecessor. It also has a quad-camera setup, compared to the triple-camera setup on the Xiaomi 13 Pro.

The Xiaomi 14 has also appeared on Geekbench with 16GB of RAM. The device scored 2244 points in the single-core test and 6820 points in the multi-core test of Geekbench 6.

We also got confirmation that Xiaomi’s new operating system, HyperOS will be announced at the event alongside the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro phones. HyperOS will replace MIUI as Xiaomi’s default operating system on its smartphones.

The leaked list is reportedly obtained from an offline 3rd party retailer in China that will be selling the upcoming Xiaomi 14 series of smartphones in the country.

From the list, the standard Xiaomi 14 will be available in 4 colours: Black, White, Green and Pink. It will be available in 3 storage options, which are respectively 12 GB + 256 GB, 16 GB + 512 GB, and 16 GB + 1 TB.

Meanwhile the Xiaomi 14 Pro will be available in 3 colours only, which are Black, White and Green. It will also be available in 3 storage options, which are respectively 12 GB + 256 GB, 16 GB + 512 GB, and 16 GB + 1 TB.

However, the list of models sold is only applicable to offline retailers, Xiaomi could also release online-exclusive colours for the Xiaomi 14 for a limited time after launch, similar to last year’s online-exclusive colours of the Xiaomi 13.

No brand has officially scheduled smartphone launches for the next few days, as of writing this story. However, based on leaks, three new phones could go official next week.

Out of these three, two of them will be flagships from Xiaomi — Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro. Whereas, the third one will be a budget model from Vivo.

The Vivo device will succeed the Vivo Y100 from earlier this year. On the other hand, the Xiaomi handsets will replace the Xiaomi 13 models from late last year.

Vivo Y200

The Vivo Y200 is tipped to debut in India on October 23 (Monday). The launch offers for the product will be live until October 31 (Tuesday).

The phone will look somewhat identical to the Vivo T2 Pro, which also goes by iQOO Z7 Pro and Vivo S17e. However, the specs will be downgraded.

It will arrive with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen1 chip, a 4,800mA battery, and 44W charging support. It will sport dual cameras on the back paired with an ‘Aura Light’ (ring LED light).

The Vivo Y200 is expected to cost ₹21,999, which translates to around $265.

Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro

The Xiaomi 14 series could launch in China on October 27 (Friday), as per an official-looking poster. There will be two devices, namely Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro.

Like the last-gen, both of them will be equipped with Leica-tuned cameras. The company has officially confirmed Leica Summilux lenses for these handsets.

The duo will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which will be announced on October 25 (Wednesday).

The vanilla Xiaomi 14 will be equipped with triple 50MP cameras headed by an OmniVision OV50H primary sensor. While the Xiaomi 14 Pro is expected to retain the 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor from its predecessor.

Last but not least, these phones will ship with Xiaomi’s new operating system based on Android and Xiaomi Vela — HyperOS.

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its next flagship smartphone series, the Xiaomi 14, later this month. The Xiaomi 14 series will be the first Xiaomi smartphone to use the company’s own HyperOS instead of the standard MIUI. Now, the company has confirmed that the upcoming smartphones will feature Leica Summilux lenses, which are known for their excellent image quality.

Leica Summilux lenses are better than the Leica Summicron lenses that Xiaomi has used on its previous flagship smartphones, including the Xiaomi 12/13 series and the Xiaomi 12S Ultra concept phone. 

Leica’s own Leitz Phone 2 uses Summicron lenses, while Leica Summilux lenses have also been used in Huawei phones, which was one of the first smartphone partners for Leica.

Xiaomi says that the camera on the Xiaomi 14 series with Leica Summilux lens will offer the best mobile imaging to date. The Xiaomi 14 lineup will also bring a new image sensor, but we are yet to learn which phone in the series will have it.

Besides the camera improvements, the new Xiaomi 14 phones will come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The Xiaomi 14 series is expected to have at least two phones, the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro. Like past launches, Xiaomi is also expected to launch a Xiaomi 14 Ultra later next year.
