Xiaomi is hosting a grand product launch event today, where the star of the show is Xiaomi 17 Max. It is the biggest battery phone in Xiaomi’s main flagship lineup so far, packing a massive 8,000mAh battery, which Xiaomi says uses its Jinshajiang battery technology with up to 16% silicon content and an energy density of 894Wh/L.

The phone supports 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. It is also compatible with the 100W PPS charging protocol. Xiaomi has included its Surge P3 fast charging chip and Surge G2 battery management chip for better charging and battery efficiency.

The rest of the Xiaomi 17 Max specs are big as well. 

Xiaomi 17 Max Specifications

On the front, the Xiaomi 17 Max features a large 6.9-inch flat OLED display with ultra-thin 1.28mm bezels and rounded corners. Xiaomi says the panel uses its SuperPixel technology, which delivers 2K resolution while consuming less power than a standard 1.5K panel.

The Xiaomi 17 Max appeared on the benchmark under the model number 2605EPN8EC. According to the listing, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and comes with 16GB of RAM. 

The benchmark results show strong performance. In Geekbench 6.7.1, the device scored 3750 points in single-core performance and 11,674 points in multi-core performance. 

Xiaomi 17 Max Specifications (Expected)

Moving from the SoC, the Xiaomi 17 Max will feature a massive 8000mAh Xiaomi Jinshajiang battery. The company recently did a livestream showing the battery prowess of the phone, and it surprisingly outlasted two iPhone 17 Pro Max in video streaming. 

The front will be home to a 6.9-inch flat panel with very slim bezels. Xiaomi is calling this a Super Pixel display, which uses a new RGB sub-pixel layout and red luminous materials.

The company claims it can deliver near 2K clarity while consuming less power than a typical 1.5K OLED screen. It is also expected to support a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, and symmetrical stereo speakers.

For cameras, the Xiaomi 17 Max is expected to feature a Leica-backed 200-megapixel main camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, along with a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera.

Naturally, official endurance tests should always be taken with some caution since brands tend to optimize these demos heavily. Still, even allowing for marketing exaggeration, the result points to genuinely massive battery endurance.

The reason is not hard to figure out. The Xiaomi 17 Max is the first phone in Xiaomi’s history to pack an 8,000mAh battery.

The rest of the hardware is flagship-level as expected. The numbers are impressive, too. The YU7 GT reportedly offers up to 1003 horsepower, a top speed of 300km/h, and a CLTC-rated electric driving range of up to 705 kilometers.

Then there is the Xiaomi 17 Max, a large-screen smartphone featuring a 6.9-inch display with ultra-thin bezels and a flat panel design. Xiaomi says the device uses a four-curved wraparound frame with heavily rounded corners. 

The 17 Max will be home to Xiaomi’s first Leica-branded 200-megapixel main camera. The phone is also expected to carry an 8000mAh battery. 

On the audio side, Xiaomi is announcing its first clip-on earbuds. They have an open-ear design and weigh just 5.5 grams per earbud. The company says the earbuds use memory titanium wire and an 11mm driver paired with a microcrystalline metal-coated diaphragm. Xiaomi is also advertising support for LHDC 5.0 audio and Hi-Res Gold certification.

Xiaomi President Lu Weibing has hinted that flagship smartphone prices may be heading into uncomfortable territory over the next couple of years. Most of what we know so far comes from a steady stream of rumors, along with a few related reports. Nothing is official yet, but the details have been consistent enough to sketch a fairly clear picture of what Xiaomi might be planning.

An 8,000mAh battery is the headline feature

If there’s one spec that defines the Xiaomi 17 Max right now, it’s the battery.

According to multiple leaks, the phone will pack an 8,000mAh battery. That’s bigger than the already substantial 7,500mAh unit inside the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. 

More importantly, none of the flagships from brands like Samsung or Apple come close to this capacity. So it’s not difficult to imagine Xiaomi marketing this around multi-day usage, heavy gaming, or extended video streaming without worrying about a charger.

Xiaomi could pair this with 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. These numbers are in line with the Pro Max model, which also supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, along with 22.5W reverse wireless charging.

Big display, flat panel

The “Max” name also points to a large screen, and leaks back that up. According to reports, it will feature a flat OLED display measuring either 6.8 inches or 6.9 inches. For context, the Pro Max also features a 6.9-inch 2K 120Hz OLED panel. 

One of the clearer differentiators within the Xiaomi 17 lineup is the presence of a secondary rear display on the Pro and Pro Max models. The 17 Max, despite its name, will not include this feature.

Multiple comments from Digital Chat Station suggest that the 17 Max will skip the rear-facing secondary screen. Instead, its design is said to be closer to the standard Xiaomi 17.

As per tipster Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi 17 Max will pack a massive 8,000mAh battery. The leak further claims that the device will support 100W wired charging along with 50W wireless charging, placing it among the fastest-charging phones with such a large battery capacity.

Since it is a non-Pro model, the Xiaomi 17 Max is not expected to feature a secondary rear display, which is currently available on the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. Instead, its rear design is said to be similar to that of the standard Xiaomi 17, suggesting a cleaner and more conventional design approach.

In terms of cameras, the Xiaomi 17 Max is tipped to feature a periscope telephoto camera, which is said to offer better performance than the existing Xiaomi 17 series models, excluding the 17 Ultra. The 17 Max is expected to borrow the Xiaomi 17’s OmniVision Light Fusion 950 primary camera, but overall photography performance is said to be improved compared to the standard model.

The leak also suggests that the Xiaomi 17 Max will be powered by the same chipset used across the Xiaomi 17 lineup. The above Weibo post reveals that the months of March and April will see the arrival of new flagship phones, such as the Vivo X300s and Oppo Find X9s, in China. The same timeframe will also see the arrival of the Xiaomi 17 Max.

He further mentioned in the comments section that the Xiaomi 17 Max will lack the secondary rear-facing display. This could be the major differentiator between the Xiaomi 17 Max and the 17 Pro Max.

A previous leak revealed that the Xiaomi 17 Max will arrive with a 6.8-inch or a 6.9-inch display. Under the hood, it will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It is also expected to feature a periscope telephoto camera.

The rest of its specifications are under wraps, but it won’t be surprising if it inherits most of the specs from the Pro Max variant. Hopefully, upcoming reports will reveal more details about it.
