Step 5: Tap Xiaomi HyperOS at the top for 10 times > click the three-dots icon in the top-right corner > select Choose update package.

Step 6: Select the ROM upgrade file you downloaded in step 2 and install it.

This is a major upgrade, and so the installation time could be longer. It’s best to charge your device at least 40% before the installation. Also, ensure the device has at least 10GB of free space for a smoother installation and better performance.

After an initial release in China, Xiaomi is expanding the rollout of HyperOS 3.1 to other regions. The update initially rolled out globally for the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra, starting with Europe, and then quickly expanded to POCO and Redmi devices.

Xiaomi is already rolling out the stable version of HyperOS 3.1 in China, and now the focus is shifting to the global market as the company has just begun rolling out the HyperOS 3.1 global beta for the initial batch of devices.

The initial Mi Pilot rollout of HyperOS 3.1 is currently restricted to the latest flagship smartphones, as reported by Xiaomi Time. Here’s the list of those devices and the firmware versions:

• Xiaomi 17 Ultra (EEA): OS3.0.301.3.WPAEUXM
• Xiaomi 17 (Global): OS3.0.300.7.WPCMIXM

The list is too short for now, as the global beta rollout has just gone live. However, it will keep getting bigger as Xiaomi pushes the beta to more devices over the coming days and weeks.

If your device is on the list and you belong to a beta-supported region, sign up to become a beta tester to get early access to the latest features and upgrades. We’ve included all the steps towards the end of the article.

Unlike HyperOS 3.0, there’s no Android 15 version of HyperOS 3.1. That means it’ll only reach Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices that are already running Android 16. You can check the complete list of eligible devices and new features here.

How to sign up to become a HyperOS Mi Pilot tester?

Keep in mind that beta builds are prone to having bugs and unfinished features. Hence, it’s best to back up your important data before installing a beta build. The best route is to install them on a secondary device.

Step 1: Download the Mi Community app and create an account.

Step 2: Make sure the region is set to “Global”. To change the current region, tap ME in the bottom-right corner and go to Set up > Change region.

Step 3: Select the beta program available for your device and click the Apply button.

Step 4: Tap the Answer button and submit your responses. Aim for at least 60 points for greater chances of being selected for the beta program.

Step 5: Click Apply and then Apply again to submit your application.

Step 6: Wait for the approval (it may take up to seven days). Go to the Mi Community app > ME > Beta testing to check the status.

Step 7: Once your application is approved, go to Settings > About phone and tap the HyperOS version to check for updates.

Following weeks of beta testing, Xiaomi has finally begun rolling out a stable HyperOS 3.1 update to the initial set of devices. The latest HyperOS software, based on Android 16, brings meaningful upgrades and plenty of fixes to deliver a refined software experience.

The latest update is available for the new Xiaomi 17 series and Redmi K90 Pro Max, as shared by Xiaomi Time. Currently, the rollout is restricted to China, as has been the case with previous HyperOS releases. However, it will eventually reach Xiaomi devices globally soon.

Xiaomi is readjusting its India launch timeline for the Xiaomi Pad 8 and the Xiaomi 17 series.

The company originally unveiled the Xiaomi 17 series at MWC 2026. Soon after that, it announced that the phones, along with the tablet, would launch on March 11. However, Xiaomi has now confirmed that the India launch has been rescheduled.

According to updates shared on X, the Xiaomi Pad 8 will arrive on March 10, with the Xiaomi 17 series following a day later on March 11.

Xiaomi Pad 8

For India, Xiaomi is keeping the spotlight on the standard Pad 8. It features an 11.2-inch LCD panel with a 3.2K resolution (3200 x 2136) and a 3:2 aspect ratio, which is slightly taller than the usual 16:10 format seen on many Android tablets.

The display supports a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate and peaks at 800 nits of brightness. It also brings Dolby Vision and HDR10 support, along with 12-bit color depth.

Furthermore, the screen supports wet-touch input and carries TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light, flicker-free viewing, and circadian-friendly performance. 

Powering the Pad 8 is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip built on a 4nm process, paired with LPDDR5X RAM. Storage options include 128GB with UFS 3.1 or 256GB/512GB with faster UFS 4.1.

The tablet runs on HyperOS 3, Xiaomi’s latest software platform, which adds split-screen multitasking, a workstation mode, PC-like drag-and-drop browsing, and AI tools such as AI Writing, AI Translate, and AI Art.

Xiaomi 17 series

On March 11, Xiaomi will launch the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra in India. Notably, the Leica-branded Ultra variant available in some global markets won’t be making its way to India.

There’s also a battery difference depending on the region. While Chinese variants of the Ultra models feature 6,800mAh batteries, the global and Indian versions are equipped with 6,000mAh units. 

The Indian microsite confirms that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will support 90W wired HyperCharge and 50W wireless HyperCharge. Another feature Xiaomi is highlighting is Offline Communication, which enables network-free voice calls up to 1.9 kilometers using Bluetooth and proprietary protocols.

Xiaomi’s next flagship phones may already have a price tag in India, months before their expected debut. According to tipster Abhishek Yadav, the series could start at Rs 80,000 for the standard Xiaomi 17, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra may land at Rs 1,25,000 in the country. 

No surprises, Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed these numbers, and as with most early leaks, they should be taken cautiously. Still, the pricing suggests Xiaomi is preparing to move further into ultra-premium territory in India.

For context, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra launched at Rs 1,09,999 for the single 16GB + 512GB variant. The regular Xiaomi 15, meanwhile, had a starting price of Rs 64,999 for the 12GB + 512GB model. 

If the leak is true, the standard Xiaomi 17 would see a 23% increase over its predecessor, while the Ultra model would see a 14% hike. 

What could Xiaomi be thinking?

Xiaomi has spent the last few years refining its premium image in India, particularly with its Ultra lineup. At ₹1,25,000, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra wouldn’t just be competing on specs; it would be competing on brand perception, software polish, long-term updates, and ecosystem value. Those are areas where Samsung and Apple have historically had an edge.

Another factor affecting the price is the ongoing memory shortage that has driven up consumer device prices. Phones, of course, are one of those commodities. 

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17 itself appears to be confirmed for India. The device recently surfaced on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification database, a common sign that a launch is in the pipeline.

According to a leak shared by tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore, Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Xiaomi 17 series globally, starting with the Xiaomi 17 and the higher-end Xiaomi 17 Ultra.

The standard Xiaomi 17 5G is expected to come in two storage variants: 12GB of RAM paired with either 256GB or 512GB of storage. Color options are said to include Black, Blue, and Green. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra 5G appears to target power users, with 16GB of RAM and storage options of 512GB or 1TB, available in Black, White, and Green.

Xiaomi 17 price leaks for the Eurozone

As for the price, a German retailer listing (spotted by Notebookcheck) reveals the Xiaomi 17 could retail at €1,099 for the 512GB variant. However, considering Ambhore’s leak, 256GB is the base for Xiaomi 17. As a result, we can expect a lower starting price, maybe around €999.

The retailer listing also reveals some hardware compromises for global buyers. While the Xiaomi 17 sold in China is expected to feature a massive 7,000mAh battery, the global version reportedly comes with a smaller 6,330mAh battery. That’s still a notable 20 percent increase over the 5,240mAh battery found in the previous global model, and it will support 100W fast charging. 

As for timing, Xiaomi is expected to begin selling the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra globally after MWC 2026 wraps up in March.

Singapore’s IMDA authority approved the standard Xiaomi 17 back in October. The above screengrab shows that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s two variants, with model numbers 2512BPNDAG and 25128PNA1G, have been certified by the IMDA certification platform. While the 2512BPNDAG is the regular Xiaomi 17 Ultra, the 25128PNA1G is believed to be the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition.

Xiaomi Group VP and CMO Xu Fei recently confirmed that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be released globally in 2026. However, the official timeframe has yet to be confirmed. Rumors surrounding the global launch of the Xiaomi 17 series suggest that it could debut in March 2026.

Reports also indicate that the global versions of the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra will feature smaller batteries than their Chinese counterparts. While the Xiaomi 17’s Chinese edition packs a 5,400mAh battery, its global version may come with a 5,240mAh battery. Similarly, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra sold in China houses a 6,800mAh battery, whereas its global edition may include a 6,000mAh battery.

What about the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max? Reports suggest that these devices may not launch in markets outside of China.

It was recently spotted on the BIS database (Bureau of Indian Standards), carrying the 25113PN0E1 model number. While the certification listing doesn’t reveal finer details like its release timeline or hardware, it does hint at an imminent release in the Indian market.

To recall, the brand first unveiled the Xiaomi 17 in its home market of China back in September 2025. It debuted as the first wave of next gen flagships that pack Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC. This is a compact flagship phone that sports a 6.3-inch flat LTPO OLED display with a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass, DC dimming, and up to 3500 nits of peak brightness.

A massive 7,000mAh battery pack powers this device, which supports 100W wiredfast charging, 50W wireless fast charging, magnetic charging, and 22.5W wired reverse charging. For optics, the rear has a 50MP triple camera setup, while the front houses a 50MP selfie shooter. Other notable features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, an infrared sensor, and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. The Xiaomi 17 debuted in Snow Mountain Pink and Ice Melt Blue, along with the classic white and black colorways in China, and we can expect similar specs and design for the Xiaomi 17’s Indian release as well.

Xiaomi 17 Certified in Thailand

The Chinese tech giant’s latest flagship was just spotted on the NBTC (National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission) database, carrying the 25113PN0EG model number. This listing doesn’t reveal any details about the announcement, but it does confirm the “Xiaomi 17” moniker and the device’s availability in Thailand.

On the other hand, the GeekBench listing also confirms that the premium compact phone is equipped with Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, which is paired with 12GB of RAM. This is the same entry level RAM as the Chinese version. Xiaomi’s latest flagships will also run on the Android 16 OS based HyperOS 3 custom skin out of the box. These tests are measuring the AI performance of the smartphone.

In related news, the Xiaomi 17 Pro series are testing the HyperOS 3.0.34.0 build that brings a new interactive Sugar Cube wallpaper for the secondary display. Meanwhile, the upcoming Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to debut soon, with pre-orders rumored to kick off on 15th December 2025. Xiaomi might be getting ready to launch its flagship smartphones in India soon. A new leak suggests that the Xiaomi 17 (Review) and Xiaomi 17 Ultra models are being readied in the region, and we might have a possible release timeline as well. So here are all the details.

Xiaomi 17 & Xiaomi 17 Ultra Arriving in India

The latest information arrives from known tipster Yogesh Brar, who shared the details on X (formerly Twitter). He claims that the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra models are undergoing testing in the Indian market. To recall, the Xiaomi 17 was first launched back in China, but the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has yet to be unveiled. But just like before, the Ultra model will likely get a global and Chinese release at the same time.

Similar to last year’s Xiaomi 15 series, the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra could debut in India, according to the tipster. Back in September, the Xiaomi 17 series was announced, which consisted of three models. The base Xiaomi 17 along with the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. The Pro series featured the unique dual display setup, with the rear camera modules featuring a smaller panel.

However, the tipster stated that there is no word on the Pro series arriving in the global market. This is surprising since the Xiaomi 15 Pro model didn’t see a wider release outside of China either. But it is a bit surprising, considering the dual display was the big new upgrade this year. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report so take this news with a pinch of salt for now.

Earlier this month, the Poco F8 Ultra surfaced in the database of Thailand’s NBTC certification platform. At that time, the rumour mill speculated that the F8 Ultra may launch much earlier than its predecessor. In a new development, the Poco F8 Pro has bagged approval from the same certification. At the same time, both devices along with the Xiaomi 17 and Redmi Note 15 (4G) have also received certification from the IMDA certification platform in Singapore.

Multiple Xiaomi phones bag IMDA certification

As can be seen above, a couple of new phones from Poco, Xiaomi, and Redmi have received approval from the IMDA authority. These include the Xiaomi 17’s global version with model number 25113PN0EG, the Redmi Note 15 (4G) with model number 2510DRA23E, and the two Poco phones with model numbers 2510DPC44G and 25102PCBEG.

The 25102PCBEG device is the Poco F8 Ultra, whereas the 2510DPC44G phone is the Poco F8 Pro, which has also surfaced in Thailand’s NBTC certification. With multiple certifications under their belt, it appears that the F8 series may launch globally before the end of this year.

Poco F8 series

The Poco F8 Ultra and F8 Pro are expected to be rebranded versions of the Redmi K90 Pro Max and Redmi K90, respectively, which recently debuted in China. While the F8 Ultra is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the F8 Pro may arrive with the Snapdragon 8 Elite onboard.

Redmi Note 15 (4G)

While the base Note 15 (4G) has been approved by IMDA, its Pro version bearing the model number 25100RA69G has already been certified by the same certification platform earlier this month. There are no concrete details about the chipsets that will power these models.

Xiaomi 17

The Xiaomi 17 with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is the company’s most powerful flagship for this year. The lineup also includes the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max, but rumours say that these models may not be released in markets outside of China.

Apple’s iPhone 17 arrived with a surprising twist this year, not just a generational spec bump, but a clear intent to undercut the dominance of aggressively priced Chinese flagships. With a $799 starting price, Apple is clearly recalibrating, offering ProMotion, a 48MP Ultra Wide camera, and the new N1 networking chip in a base model. But does that make it better than the likes of the Xiaomi 17, Vivo X300, or Oppo Find X9?

Let’s break it down.

Display and Design

The iPhone 17 features a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion support for the first time in a base model. It now supports up to 120Hz refresh rate and Always-On Display functionality. Peak outdoor brightness reaches 3000 nits, which is a significant step up from its predecessor.

Xiaomi uses a 1.5K OLED LTPO panel on the Xiaomi 17 that hits 3500 nits peak brightness. Vivo takes it further with the X300, offering 4500 nits peak brightness and 2160Hz PWM dimming for better eye comfort. The Find X9 also delivers a 3600-nit display with ultra-high-frequency dimming. Apple still leads in color calibration with True Tone, but Chinese brands now offer brighter panels with finer dimming and better display flexibility.

Performance

The A19 chip on the iPhone 17 is based on a 3nm architecture with a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU. Apple says the CPU is 1.5 times faster than the A15 in iPhone 13, with the GPU more than doubling the performance of the older generation. The new chip also includes a 16-core Neural Engine for AI tasks.

Xiaomi uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which includes an Adreno 840 GPU and supports advanced thermal management. On the other hand, Oppo and Vivo use MediaTek Dimensity 9500, which has scored over 4 million points on AnTuTu. Apple’s efficiency remains a strong point, but Chinese rivals now match or surpass the iPhone in raw performance, especially in multitasking and gaming workloads.

Camera

Apple upgraded the rear setup with a 48MP main and a 48MP ultra-wide camera. The front camera now uses an 18MP sensor with Center Stage, enabling AI-based field-of-view expansion and landscape selfies without rotating the phone. The iPhone 17 also supports 4K HDR recording on both front and rear cameras, and it introduces Dual Capture.

Xiaomi features a Leica-powered triple 50MP setup, including a Light Fusion 950 sensor and telephoto lens. Vivo uses a 200MP sensor paired with a Zeiss-certified periscope and telemacro lens. Oppo includes a 50MP triple-camera setup with Hasselblad tuning and a spectral sensor for accurate color capture. Apple closes the gap with better usability, but the hardware and flexibility of Chinese camera systems remain superior.

Battery and Charging

Apple claims up to 30 hours of video playback on the iPhone 17. The phone supports 40W USB-C fast charging and 25W MagSafe or Qi2 wireless charging. This marks the first time a base iPhone supports fast charging above 20W.

Chinese flagships dominate in this area. Xiaomi’s 7000mAh battery supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, along with reverse charging. Vivo includes a 6040mAh battery with 90W wired and 40W wireless speeds. Oppo uses a 7025mAh silicon-carbon battery with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. Apple improves charging speed, but Android rivals continue to lead in capacity and endurance.

Connectivity and Extras

The iPhone 17 introduces Apple’s N1 wireless chip, which supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thread networking, and improved Personal Hotspot and AirDrop performance. It also retains Face ID and adds the new Ceramic Shield 2 coating for better scratch resistance.

Chinese phones come with more features on paper. Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo include in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensors, infrared blasters, reverse wireless charging, and high-precision GPS with NavIC support. Vivo and Oppo both offer IP69 ratings, while Apple retains IP68. Apple maintains a smooth ecosystem and polished integration, but Android competitors push more hardware-level features.

Pricing and Value

Apple priced the iPhone 17 at $799 for the 256GB model, which is lower than the 256GB versions of the Xiaomi 17 and Vivo X300. This puts Apple in a more competitive position, especially in markets where iPhones traditionally cost more.

The Xiaomi 17 starts at 4499 yuan (around $630) for the 12GB + 256GB variant. Vivo’s X300 starts at 4399 yuan ($618) for the same configuration. The Find X9 is positioned higher at 999 Euros for the 12GB + 512GB model. Chinese phones offer better hardware value, but Apple’s improved base configuration and pricing strategy make the iPhone 17 an attractive option in more markets.

Verdict

The iPhone 17 is not better than its Chinese rivals in raw specifications. It still lags in charging, camera versatility, and display brightness. But it fixes previous limitations in display refresh rate, camera quality, and charging speed while maintaining Apple’s ecosystem advantage.

More importantly, it now does this at a more competitive price. Apple is no longer just playing the brand card. The iPhone 17 brings value with real improvements, even if it doesn’t beat Xiaomi, Vivo, or Oppo in feature-for-feature comparisons. It is not the most advanced phone in this group, but it is the most balanced iPhone base model Apple has ever made.

Flagship smartphone launches used to be simple. There was one premium model, one Pro version for those who wanted more, and maybe a standard version for everyone else. But that line has almost completely blurred in 2025.

The so-called “base” models from major Chinese brands have grown powerful enough to challenge their own Pro siblings. They now offer high-end cameras, premium materials, and top-tier chips, all at prices that make Pro models feel unnecessary.

The latest proof of this comes from Vivo, Xiaomi, and Oppo, whose new phones — the Vivo X300, Xiaomi 17, and Oppo Find X9 — were launched within weeks of each other.

Although these three phones sit below their Pro counterparts, they look and feel like top-tier devices in their own right. What’s even more interesting is how differently each company interprets the idea of a flagship phone for everyone.

Design and Display

On paper, the three phones share similar footprints. The Vivo X300 and Xiaomi 17 are almost identical in size, hovering around 6.3 inches, while Oppo’s Find X9 stretches slightly larger to 6.59 inches. 

All three offer some level of IP68 water and dust protection, though Vivo and Oppo go further with IP69 ratings, which means resistance to high-pressure water jets. This feature is almost unnecessary for most people (here’s why), but it’s here nonetheless.

There’s not much to separate them in display technology either. Each uses an LTPO AMOLED panel with up to 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and color standards that now seem mandatory for phones at this price. 

Only if we nitpick, Xiaomi claims that it can reach 3,500 nits peak brightness, Vivo claims 4,500 nits, and Oppo claims 3,600 nits. While these are peak figures and you’re rarely hitting these numbers, it’s reassuring to know all three should remain perfectly usable outdoors.

All three panels support HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and high-frequency PWM dimming, with pixel densities hovering around 460ppi. In real use, they’ll likely look nearly identical, though the default color calibration depends on how the brand prefers it. 

Performance

The clearest separation between these phones comes from what’s inside. Xiaomi uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while both Vivo and Oppo rely on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500.

On paper, Qualcomm still leads in raw CPU and GPU performance. Xiaomi’s 8 Elite Gen 5 uses custom Oryon cores with clock speeds up to 4.6GHz and the new Adreno 840 GPU.

Vivo and Oppo’s Dimensity 9500 chips are not far behind; they are built on the same 3nm process and have their own “C1 Ultra” cores running at 4.21GHz. But MediaTek’s focus is on efficiency and sustained performance, and in practice, the difference may be small unless you push the phones with extended gaming or AI workloads.

What’s more notable is how similar these three feel in day-to-day use. All three phones use UFS 4.1 storage and LPDDR5X RAM to ensure flagship-level responsiveness. 

Cameras

The biggest philosophical split lies in the camera systems. Vivo is the most camera-focused brand here, and it shows. The Vivo X300 leads with a 200-megapixel Samsung HPB main sensor, accompanied by two 50-megapixel cameras — one telephoto, one ultrawide. 

Then it has Zeiss optics and the ability to import 3D LUTs. And it even supports a detachable telephoto extender lens sold separately, something previously reserved for its Ultra series.

Xiaomi 17 uses a triple 50-megapixel setup, each tuned in collaboration with Leica. The main lens is a 1/1.31-inch sensor with an f/1.7 aperture, and the telephoto offers 2.6x optical zoom. It also supports 8K video and Dolby Vision HDR, matching its Pro siblings in video flexibility.

Oppo’s Find X9, meanwhile, keeps things simple. It sticks with three 50-megapixel sensors but relies on the established partnership with Hasselblad for color tuning. 

The 3x periscope telephoto offers real optical range, and image quality should remain strong thanks to the large 1/1.4-inch main sensor. Like Vivo, Oppo has a telephoto extender for the Find X9 series, but it’s reserved for the Pro model. 

Battery and charging

Battery life is where these phones start to feel generationally different. All three use silicon-carbon battery chemistry, allowing higher capacity without added bulk. 

Oppo leads the group with a 7,025mAh battery, followed closely by Xiaomi’s 7,000mAh and Vivo’s smaller but efficient 6,040mAh pack. Despite the difference in capacity, Vivo claims its battery lasts as long as a typical 7,000mAh unit. 

Charging speeds are fast across the board. Xiaomi supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, Oppo follows with 80W wired and 50W wireless, and Vivo offers 90W wired and 40W wireless. The phones can go from empty to full in under 40 minutes.

Software and experience

All three phones ship with Android 16, customized heavily by their respective skins: HyperOS 3 on Xiaomi, OriginOS 6 on Vivo, and ColorOS 16 on Oppo.

Each takes a different approach to personalization, and whether you like these skins or not largely comes down to preference. Each phone also includes an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, dual stereo speakers, NFC, and infrared blasters. None offers a 3.5mm headphone jack, but all support high-resolution wireless audio.

Verdict

In truth, there’s no clear winner here. The Vivo X300, Xiaomi 17, and Oppo Find X9 are all high-end devices with different priorities wrapped in similar price brackets.

The Vivo X300 is for those who care about photography above all else. Its 200-megapixel sensor and Zeiss collaboration make it a quiet powerhouse for imaging, and its compact design will appeal to users tired of oversized flagships.

The Xiaomi 17 is an all-rounder. Its Leica-tuned cameras, Snapdragon chip, and large battery make it easy to recommend to anyone who values both power and polish.

The Oppo Find X9 sits somewhere between the two. It emphasizes endurance and balance. It’s not as flashy as the Xiaomi or as ambitious as the Vivo. Still, it might be the most reliable of the bunch, combining excellent battery life, consistent camera output, and understated design.

Introduction 

Compared to the significant changes in the Pro series, the standard Xiaomi 17’s design hasn’t undergone major alterations from its predecessors—the 13, 14, and 15. It primarily unifies the color scheme, get rid of the prominent black accent modules seen in earlier models.

Yet, the Pro Max version currently dominates China’s bestseller ranks. So, is the standard Xiaomi 17 truly unworthy of purchase due to its ordinary appearance? After a complete test, I have a clear answer.

Design and Appearance 

As mentioned earlier, the Xiaomi 17’s changes are subtle. Yet in actual use, I found its overall build quality rivals that of the iPhone 17 Pro. From the texture of the rear glass and frame finish, to the logo design and even the rounded corners of the display, it closely mirrors the iPhone. However, the Xiaomi 17 boasts a highly practical advantage: there isn’t a side button, and camera control button.

For users who always mount their phones on stands, this is a very thoughtful design. You no longer need to adjust the balance position like with iPhones, nor worry about accidental button presses.

Display and Speaker 

Although the standard model’s screen doesn’t have the new pixel arrangement used in the Pro Max version, it still holds certain advantages. Compared to the Pro Max, the standard model’s screen is slightly smaller but maintains the same resolution. So its pixel density surpasses the Pro Max and aligns more closely with the iPhone 17 Pro.

However, this display has a notable drawback: it lacks an anti-reflective coating. In bright outdoor environments, the iPhone’s display offers clearer visibility.

For users prioritizing speaker audio quality, the Xiaomi 17 may disappoint you. To show the actual differences more clearly, I will include a sound quality comparison clip with other models in this review.

Performance and Gaming 

Performance-wise, you don’t need to worry too much. Both the standard and Pro Max versions share nearly identical core hardware specs, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 processor, LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.1 flash storage.

However, during testing, we saw an odd thing: our standard edition achieved approximately 3.5 million points on AnTuTu, while the Pro Max scored only 3.2 million. Yet, AnTuTu’s official benchmark results show a score of 3.7 million. This difference clearly indicates an issue.

After many testing and comparisons, we finally pinpointed the cause: the 3.7 million score could indeed be achieved on our standard Xiaomi 17—but only by putting the phone in a fridge for extreme cooling. Temperature curves in the Antutu benchmark records confirmed that the official score was obtained through fridge cooling. Even when cooled in a fridge, our Pro Max unit could only reach a maximum of 3.5 million points. At the same time, we monitored power consumption during benchmarking: under identical conditions, the Pro Max model consistently consumed less power than the standard version. This performance difference likely stems from two factors: different internal performance scheduling strategies within the system, and the physical difference of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 processor.

Fortunately, this benchmark gap doesn’t fully translate to real-world gaming performance. In Genshin Impact, the 17 performed nearly identically to the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, with only slightly lower average power consumption. However, in Honkai: Star Rail, both the 17 and 17 Pro Max began throttling after three minutes of gameplay, with the devices becoming extremely hot to the touch.

Monitoring tools revealed that GPU and memory temperatures remained low during gameplay. This indicates the upgraded vapor chamber effectively dissipates heat. However, the issue lies in Xiaomi’s design redirecting processor heat toward the battery . So when running relatively low-load games like Genshin Impact, internal heat doesn’t yet trigger the battery’s thermal throttling. Conversely, high-load games like Honkai: Star Rail would trigger that quite fast. For smoother gameplay, you must either add external cooling solutions or adjust graphics settings downward.

Additionally, when running Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, we saw subtle differences in maximum graphics settings between the Xiaomi 17 series and other phones. Comparing it to the OnePlus 13, you won’t see the difference at first glance. However, if we zoom in to check character details or ground textures, the OnePlus 13 preserves more visual fidelity.

Imaging System 

The Xiaomi 17 hasn’t seen big upgrades in its cameras. Among the four cameras on the front and back, only the main camera and front-facing camera have been upgraded. The main camera performs exceptionally well in well-lit daytime conditions, with image quality just as good as the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max.

For instance, when taking a photo of a lightbox, I captured three shots, there are noticeable color banding. The shots from the telephoto camera remains unchanged.

However, it makes mistakes in low-light or extreme lighting conditions.

The ultra-wide camera has even regressed in performance. Watch this: Opening the camera app defaults to the main lens. When switching to 0.7x zoom, did you notice anything? Now let’s focus on the carpet area and compare multiple transitions—the difference should be very clear. Worst of all, this ultra-wide lens offers a mere 17mm field of view, which feels severely cramped in today’s market.

Battery Life & Charging

It’s the season of flagship Android wars in China. Almost every major brand has unveiled a new device in the last month or so, each equipped with the latest processors, top-tier displays, and, thankfully, bigger batteries.

The Vivo X300 and Xiaomi 17 are two such contenders. On paper, both devices come loaded with high-end hardware, eye-catching designs, and the latest chips from MediaTek and Qualcomm.

But peel back the specs and the differences start to show. So let’s break down what really sets them apart.

Design and Build

Both the Vivo X300 and Xiaomi 17 share similar dimensions. It measures around 150mm tall and weighs just under 200 grams. They’re slim, premium slabs that feel engineered to impress.

Vivo’s design features glass on both sides, paired with an aluminum alloy frame, while Xiaomi opts for Dragon Crystal Glass on the front, complemented by an aluminum frame.

Both phones are IP68 rated, meaning they can withstand accidental water drops and dusty environments. However, Vivo takes it a step further with an IP69 rating, enabling it to withstand high-pressure water jets. That’s rare even among flagships, though it’s unlikely to make a meaningful difference in real-life use.

Display

Both phones use LTPO AMOLED panels with 120Hz refresh rates and 2160Hz PWM dimming, making them easier on the eyes at low brightness. Vivo’s display measures 6.31 inches, while Xiaomi’s is roughly the same at 6.3 inches.

Brightness is where Vivo pulls ahead. The X300 peaks at a massive 4,500 nits, while Xiaomi reaches up to 3,500 nits. Both are extremely bright and should deliver great outdoor visibility, regardless of the numbers.

In terms of color, both screens support HDR10+, HDR Vivid, and advanced tone mapping. Xiaomi adds Dolby Vision to the mix, giving it an edge when watching supported content on Netflix or YouTube.

Resolution-wise, both hover in the 1220–1260p range, offering crisp text and smooth visuals.

Performance: MediaTek vs Snapdragon

The two phones take very different approaches to performance. The X300 runs MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500, a 3nm chip with ARM C1 cores clocked up to 4.21GHz.

Xiaomi, on the other hand, ships with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, also built on a 3nm process and equipped with custom Oryon V3 cores running up to 4.6GHz.

On paper, Snapdragon’s architecture has the upper hand. It uses two 4.6GHz Oryon V3 Phoenix L cores and six 3.62GHz Phoenix M cores, paired with an Adreno 840 GPU—delivering top-tier gaming and raw compute performance. The Dimensity 9500’s 4.21GHz C1-Ultra and 3.5GHz C1-Premium cores aren’t far behind, and MediaTek’s Arm G1-Ultra GPU is also powerful.

In real-world use, both phones should feel incredibly fast. Scrolling, multitasking, and gaming happen without hesitation. Vivo’s OriginOS 6 (based on Android 16) feels smooth and responsive, while Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 offers deep customization and similarly slick performance.

Cameras

This is where things get interesting. The Vivo X300 features a bold 200MP main sensor with OIS, a 50MP periscope telephoto, and a 50MP ultrawide. The system is tuned by Zeiss and includes Zeiss T* lens coating, laser autofocus, and even 3D LUT import for pro-grade color work.

The Xiaomi 17, meanwhile, sticks to a more traditional 50MP triple setup—50MP main, 50MP telephoto (2.6x optical), and 50MP ultrawide—with Leica-co-engineered optics.

Both phones offer flagship camera performance, and the final quality will come down to ISP tuning and post-processing. However, Vivo holds a clear advantage in flexibility, thanks to support for external photography accessories, including a telephoto extender that can deliver crisp shots at up to 200mm.

On the front, both devices use 50MP selfie cameras with 4K video support, but Xiaomi goes further with HDR10+ video capture and gyro-EIS.

Battery and Charging

Battery life is where Xiaomi dominates. The Xiaomi 17 packs a huge 7,000mAh cell along with 100W wired, 50W wireless, and 22.5W reverse wireless charging.

Vivo’s 6,040mAh battery with 90W wired and 40W wireless charging still offers strong endurance, easily lasting a day and a half, but Xiaomi simply goes farther. The difference between 6,040mAh and 7,000mAh will be noticeable, especially for heavy users.

Audio and Connectivity

Both phones skip the headphone jack but feature stereo speakers. Xiaomi’s setup is tuned for Dolby Atmos and Snapdragon Sound, with Hi-Res 24-bit/192kHz playback. Vivo’s speakers are clean, but lack Dolby branding.

Connectivity is top-tier on both devices, including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, infrared, and multi-band GPS. Vivo adds eSIM support internationally, which Xiaomi lacks, while Xiaomi includes DisplayPort output over USB-C, allowing it to connect directly to a monitor.

Verdict

The Vivo X300 and Xiaomi 17 show how differently two brands can approach the same idea: a compact 2025 flagship.

Xiaomi just had one of its best weeks in China. During China’s National Day Golden Week, from September 29 to October 5, the company surpassed Apple to become the top-selling smartphone brand in China, taking a 21.2% market share. 

According to local sales data, the top five smartphone brands during the holiday period were Xiaomi, Apple, Vivo, Oppo, and Huawei. Apple came in second with a 16.30% share, while Vivo captured 15.90%. 

Xiaomi President Lu Weibing recently said cumulative sales of the Xiaomi 17 series have crossed 1 million units within days of launch. That’s 20% higher than the previous generation during the same timeframe.

Much of the credit for this success goes to the Pro models. Well-known industry blogger Digital Chat Station reported that combined sales of the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max and 17 Pro have already topped 800,000 units. 

Meanwhile, the standard Xiaomi 17 hasn’t matched the popularity of its higher-tier siblings. Sales reportedly reached around 194,000 units for it.

One standout feature driving sales of the Pro models is undoubtedly the back screen. Lu Weibing mentioned that Xiaomi invested heavily in this dual-screen setup, saying the cost of development alone was roughly 1 billion yuan. He also hinted that while competitors might try to replicate the idea, few would be willing to spend that much.

While the devices are enjoying strong success in China, they won’t make their way to the global market until next year. Even then, the Xiaomi 17 Pro is expected to remain exclusive to China.

The OnePlus 15 is expected to be unveiled in China on 27th October 2025. Meanwhile, a recent rumor claims that the global release might be set for 13th November 2025.

OnePlus is making notable changes with its next flagship model, which is moving away from the Hasselblad camera tuning and focusing on offering performance at a great value. iQOO 15

The iQOO 15 enters as the gaming-centric option in this lineup. This model will be unveiled in China later this month, alongside the iQOO Neo 11. However, the company has already begun teasing the iQOO 15 in India, so it might debut late next month.

This model is expected to debut with a 6.85-inch Samsung AMOLED screen with a 2K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor. It is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 7,000mAh battery pack, and 100W wired fast charging support.

Vivo X300 Series

While the Vivo X300 series will be the first set of premium devices that feature the Dimensity 9500 in China, it will arrive after the Find X9 series in India. The Vivo X300 and Vivo X300 Pro are set to launch on 13th October 2025. But considering the Vivo X200 lineup arrived in India in December 2024, we can expect a similar launch timeline for the Vivo X300 series.

The base X300 is a compact flagship with a 6.31-inch display; however, the X300 Pro is a tall 6.78-inch full fledged premium phone. These models are getting an upgrade in terms of battery capacity, camera performance, display quality, and much more.

Xiaomi’s President Lu Weibing has officially announced that the much-anticipated 1TB variant of the Xiaomi 17 standard edition is now available in China. The announcement follows weeks of user feedback urging the company to release a higher-capacity model. The new variant, priced at 5,299 Yuan (~$745), adds more storage while maintaining the same compact flagship design that gained widespread popularity at launch.

Xiaomi 17 1TB variant now available in China

At launch, the Xiaomi 17 was made available in three variants, such as 12GB+256GB for 4,499 Yuan (~$630), 12GB+512GB for 4,799 Yuan (~$670), and 16GB+512GB for 4,999 Yuan (~$700). Starting today, the 16GB+1TB version priced at 5,299 Yuan (~$745) has been made available for purchase in China.

The arrival of the new variant follows feedback from users who expressed the need for higher storage capacity soon after the model’s original launch. The 1TB version is 200 Yuan (~$28) cheaper than the previous generation, which was priced at 5,499 Yuan (~$772) at launch.

The Xiaomi 17 standard edition comes with a 6.3-inch 1.5K 120Hz OLED display and a lightweight 191g body, designed with ultra-narrow 1.18mm bezels. It features Xiaomi’s Longjing glass protection, which the company claims offers ten times better drop resistance, along with IP68-rated dust and water resistance.

Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform, the smartphone is paired with 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and the new 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage option. Camera hardware includes a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel floating telephoto lens. The device runs on HyperOS 3-based Android 16 and packs a 7,000mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging support.

Lu Weibing revealed that the Xiaomi 17 series’ overall sales have grown by more than 20 percent compared to the previous generation. At present, there is no official word on the Xiaomi 17 series’ global launch. The Xiaomi 17 lineup just debuted in China alongside the new Xiaomi 15T. Now, a fresh leak has officially revealed the camera details of all four smartphones. While the 15T is a cutdown version of last year’s flagships, the new 17 series sees some surprising downgrades. So here’s everything you need to know.

Xiaomi 17

According to tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore, the standard Xiaomi 17 arrives with a 1/1.31-inch 50MP Light Hunter 950 as its main camera. This is a newer custom camera, but it keeps the same sensor size as last year’s Xiaomi 15, which had a 50MP Light Fusion 900.

Meanwhile, the 2.6x telephoto shooter remains the same between the two devices. However, the Xiaomi 15 has a bigger 1/2.76-inch Samsung ISOCELL JN1 ultra wide angle lens compared to the Xiaomi 17’s 1/2.88 inch 50MP OV50M ultra wide shooter. On the front, the same 50MP OV50M makes a return for the Xiaomi 17, which is an upgrade over the Xiaomi 15s’ 1/3.14-inch 32MP OV32B selfie camera.

Xiaomi 17 Pro & Xiaomi 17 Pro Max

The Xiaomi 17 Pro models share nearly identical camera setups, excluding the periscope telephoto lens. Both models get an upgraded 50MP 1/1.28-inch Light Hunter A950L primary camera, which matches the likes of the iPhone 17 Pros, Galaxy S25 Ultra, and Pixel 10 Pros. However, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max gets a larger 1/1.95-inch ISOCELL GN8 5x periscope telephoto shooter.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro gets downgraded to the smaller JN5, but keeps the 5x optical zoom. The entire Xiaomi 17 lineup appears to use the same camera sensors for the ultra wide angle and selfie shooter, which is the 50MP OmniVision OV50M sensor.

Xiaomi 15T Series

Lastly, we have the Xiaomi 15T series. These are the Chinese tech giant’s budget flagship models. The vanilla 15T features the 1/1.55-inch OVX8000 as its main sensor, but the more expensive 15T Pro upgrades to the 1/1.31-inch OVX9100. Both of these are 50MP cameras, although the 15T Pro matches last year’s Xiaomi 15 flagship. For the ultra wide angle shots, the duo get the 12MP OV13B sensor.

Similar to the primary camera, the telephoto shooters are also different. The Xiaomi 15T Pro gets a longer 5x optical zoom range thanks to its Samsung JN5 shooter, while the JN5 on the base 15T maxes out at 2x zoom. You get a 32MP Samsung S5KKDS selfie camera on both versions.

The Takeaway

Calling these changes a straight downgrade can also be a bit unfair. The improved ISP on the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and better tuning on the cameras could give the newer flagship an edge. Hardware alone isn’t everything and cutting edge software optimizations show that. But these can be seen as trade offs from the brand offering more on certain areas, including a new rear display on the Xiaomi 17 Pros.

The Xiaomi 17 lineup launched in China on September 25 with strong buzz, but fresh analysis suggests sales momentum may already be slowing. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, shipments for the Xiaomi 17 series are now expected to come in below those of last year’s Xiaomi 15, with weaker-than-expected demand for the base model dragging the numbers down.

Xiaomi introduced three models this year—the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max—highlighting Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, larger batteries (up to 7,500mAh), and Leica’s camera tuning with 16.5EV dynamic range. The Pro and Pro Max also brought standout touches such as a 2.9-inch rear AMOLED “Magic Back Screen.” Early response was positive, with strong pre-orders and launch-day excitement.

But Kuo’s latest survey points to a downward revision in shipments, with estimates cut by around 20% from the initial 10 million target. That would put total sales below the Xiaomi 15 series’ roughly 8 million units. The key challenge is the standard Xiaomi 17, which was expected to contribute more than half of overall shipments but is instead accounting for only 15–20% of demand.

At the same time, Apple’s iPhone 17 appears to be eating into Xiaomi’s base-model sales in China. Unlike previous years, Apple’s entry model has reportedly received stronger-than-expected uptake thanks to upgrades such as a 120Hz display.

If National Day Golden Week (October 1–7) fails to reverse the trend, Xiaomi may resort to price adjustments to stimulate sales. For now, Pro and Pro Max models are holding steadier, but they’re unlikely to offset the weaker base model.

Kuo notes the outlook applies only to China, where Xiaomi holds about 15% of the premium market. Globally, only the Xiaomi 17 and a rumored Ultra are expected to launch, which could help limit the impact of this slowdown.

October is shaping up to be a pretty exciting month for smartphone enthusiasts, as most brands are preparing to release their latest flagship phones powered by the recently announced Dimensity 9500 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which bring incredible performance and power efficiency. We’re also expecting to see some mid-range phones from Motorola, Vivo, and Redmi. So, it’s going to be a jam-packed month for smartphone launches.

If you’re up for a smartphone upgrade, the wait might be worth it. We’ve curated a list of smartphones that are expected to launch in October, along with their launch date and specifications.

1. Realme GT 8 Pro

Launch: October 2025 (expected)

While the launch date has not been announced yet, the company has confirmed that it will be the first phone in India to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. The official poster also reveals that the device gets over 4 million AnTuTu points.

Realme has also confirmed that the GT 8 Pro features a 2K AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate, up to 7000 nits of peak brightness, and a massive 7,000mAh battery. It will have an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and 12x lossless zoom.

The phone is expected to feature 120W wired charging, while there’s no clarity on wireless charging. On the software side, it will boot Android 16 with Realme UI 7 out of the box.

2. Xiaomi 17

Launch: October 2025 (expected)

Xiaomi 17 just launched in China as the first Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phone, and it’s also confirmed to launch soon in India. In China, the company also launched the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Ultra, but there’s no certainty around their India launch.

The standard Xiaomi 17 has a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display with a variable 1-120Hz refresh rate and 3500nits of peak brightness. It’s IP68-rated and features Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass protection.

The rear side features a triple camera setup similar to that of its predecessor, the Xiaomi 14. There’s a 50MP OIS-enabled main shooter, a 50MP telephoto shooter with OIS and 2.6x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide camera. It’s capable of recording up to 8K video, whereas the 50MP selfie camera can record up to 4K. The battery comes in at 7,000mAh (Si/C) with support for 100W wired, 50W wireless, and 22.5W reverse wireless charging.

3. Vivo V60e

Launch: October 7, 2025 (expected)

The Vivo V60e is expected to be released on October 7th. However, we already know pretty much everything about the device. According to a recent leak, the V60e will be the first phone to feature a 200MP camera in the segment. Additionally, there will be an 8MP (likely an ultrawide unit) on the rear side, as well as a 50MP selfie camera.

The smartphone reportedly brings a 120Hz AMOLED screen, Dimensity 7360 processor, and a 6,500mAh battery with 90W fast charging support. It will also offer an IP68/P69 rating, IR blaster, NFC, and three major Android updates. An early Flipkart listing was also spotted recently, revealing that the Vivo V60e starts at INR 34,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant. The 8GB + 256GB variant will cost INR 36,999, and the top-end 12GB + 256GB will cost INR 38,999.

4. iQOO 15

Launch: October 2025 (expected)

The performance-packed iQOO 15 is expected to be unveiled in China next month. Later this year, it will be released globally. The brand has already confirmed some key specs of the phone, including the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powerful chipset, a 6.85” 144Hz QHD display, a Q3 gaming chip, and a periscope telephoto camera.

The iQOO 15 is confirmed to feature a color-changing back design and will ship with OriginOS 6 out of the box, not just in China, but worldwide. Overall, it will be a solid flagship phone with high-end hardware.

5. OnePlus 15

Launch: October 2025 (expected)

The OnePlus 15 is also set to make its debut in China next month and is expected to launch in the international market later this year. This one will also be powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with high-end specs, including a 1.5K display with a 165Hz refresh rate and a massive 7,000mAh battery, supporting 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The smartphone is said to feature a triple rear camera setup, including a 50MP OIS-enabled primary shooter, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, and an ultrawide camera. Also, since the OnePlus and Hasselblad partnership has ended, the OnePlus 15 will likely introduce an in-house image engine. The phone will boot Android 16 OS, likely with different custom skins: OriginOS 6 in China and OxygenOS 16 for the rest of the world.

6. Oppo Find X9 series

Launch: October 16, 2025 (official)

This one will also be a flagship series, but unlike many others on the list, Oppo is opting for the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, which, by the way, performs neck-and-neck in benchmarks (see the benchmark data here). It will launch in China on October 16, with the global launch expected towards the end of the month.

Oppo has been teasing the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro lately. However, there could also be an Ultra model in the pipeline, which might be released later with a Snapdragon chip. According to a recent leak, the Find X8 will feature a 6.59” 120Hz 1.5K OLED screen, a Dimensity 9500 chip, and a 7,025mAh battery with support for 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. The triple rear camera setup may include a 50MP Sony LYT808 primary sensor, a 50MP Samsung JN5 ultra-wide unit, and a 50MP Sony LYT600 periscope lens. There may be an additional 2MP True Chroma sensor for better color accuracy. The front side features a 32MP selfie shooter.

The Find X8 Pro is expected to bring a larger 6.78-inch OLED screen with LTPO support, the same Dimensity 9500 chipset, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and a bigger 7,500mAh battery with the same charging capabilities. It also features triple 50MP cameras, but with better sensors: a Sony LYT-828 primary sensor, a Samsung HP5 periscope camera, and a Samsung JN5 telephoto lens. The selfie camera is said to be a 50MP unit.

7. Vivo X300 series

Launch: October 13, 2025 (official)

Alongside a mid-range Vivo V60e, the brand is also preparing to unveil a high-end Vivo X300 series. It’s officially confirmed to launch in China on October 13, and might be released outside China before the end of the year.

The Vivo X300 series comprises the X300 and X300 Pro, both of which will feature the Dimensity 9500 chip at their core. Besides, the X300 will reportedly feature a 6.31” 120Hz LTPO panel, a 50MP selfie camera, and a triple camera setup on the back consisting of a 200MP primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide unit, and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens. The phone is said to offer a 6,000mAh battery with 90W fast charging support and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint 2.0.

As for the Pro model, it may offer a 6.78-inch OLED screen, a more powerful camera setup, and a bigger battery with support for wireless charging as well.

8. Redmi Note 15 series

Launch: October 2025 (expected)

Launched in August in China, the Redmi Note 15 mid-range series is expected to come to India in October. The series consists of three models: Redmi Note 15, Note 15 Pro, and Note 15 Pro+.

The Redmi Note 15’s key specs include a 6.77” 120Hz AMOLED screen, a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, a 50MP + 2MP dual rear camera setup, an 8MP selfie camera, and a 4,800mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging.

The Redmi Note 15 Pro brings a 6.83” 120Hz AMOLED screen, a Dimensity 7400 Ultra processor, a 50MP + 8MP dual rear camera setup, a 20MP selfie camera, and a massive 7,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging support.

The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ offers a 6.83” 120Hz AMOLED screen, a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip, triple rear cameras (50MP + 50MP + 8MP), a 32MP selfie camera, and a 7,000mAh battery with 90W fast charging.

9. Motorola Edge 60 Neo

Launch: October 2025 (expected)

The Edge 60 Neo was announced at IFA 2025 and is expected to be released in India in October. It’s powered by a 4nm Dimensity 7400 chipset, paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.

The Motorola phone features a 6.36” LTPO OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, Full HD+ resolution, HDR10+, Gorilla Glass 7i protection, and a 300nits of peak brightness. It features a triple camera setup on the back, including a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 13MP ultrawide unit, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS. It has a 32MP selfie camera.

The battery comes in at 5,000mAh with support for 68W wired and 15W wireless charging. Other key highlights of the Edge 60 Neo include an IP68/IP69 rating, MIL-STD-810H certification, NFC support, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.

Xiaomi just unveiled its latest generation of flagship smartphones. The brand’s latest premium lineup features the new Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. While the company just announced these high end devices, Xiaomi kicked off the open sales for the Xiaomi 17 series soon after in its home market of China, and let’s just say, it has been a smashing hit.

Xiaomi 17 Series Sets New Sales Record with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Power

The Chinese tech giant took to Weibo to share the sales achievements of its latest flagship smartphones. Looking at the poster, the company claims that the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max have already set a new sales record for its flagship smartphone series. Notably, this new record was set just five minutes after the trio went on open sales.

As of right now, the brand has yet to share an exact figure. But the explosive initial sales could help the Xiaomi 17 lineup become one of the best selling flagship smartphone from the company. To recall, last year’s Xiaomi 15 series initially debuted with only two models in the family. This included the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro, with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra making a global debut alongside the base model a few months after.

So the higher sales figure could also be boosted by the third model. The Pro models are definitely a game changer, and the company also offers customers those models in a compact and tall form factor.

Xiaomi has just launched the 15T for the global market, and just a day later, here comes the 17 Series in China. They decided to skip the naming of 16, and jump straight to 17. It feels like Xiaomi wants to compare itself head-to-head with iPhone 17 Series. The naming is not the only odd thing, the lineup is also incredibly similar. There is the Xiaomi 17, the 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max. Tim Cook is like: Seriously bro?

Anyway, jokes aside, we are serious about Xiaomi phone reviews. Gizmochina knows Xiaomi flagships the best, and we make the most comprehensive reviews across the entire internet. After this first hands-on article, we will present you the full review of Xiaomi 17 and the 17 Pro Max, also a comparison between the iPhone 17 Pro. Those reviews are going to be epic! Stay tuned!

Xiaomi 17 Pro Max

Now the Pro and Pro Max are very interesting, because they have a giant screen at the back. Since they are very similar, we will only show the Pro Max here.

Let’s do a quick unboxing. There is the 100W charger and the cable at the bottom, then a clear case. Lastly, the phone.

So just at a glance, people always say it reminds them of the Camera Plato on the iPhone 17 Pro series, it kind of does, as the shape is very similar. But the major difference is that there is a screen there, rather than just a piece of metal. If you have watched some flip phone reviews, you must know what it means to have a smaller screen at the back. It will be so convenient for some notifications, taking phone calls, taking selfies, and even playing some games. Xiaomi has made a similar thing on the Xiaomi 11 Ultra, only it was a tiny screen there. It says the specs of this screen are just like the main screen, same material, same brightness, same refresh rate. And when it comes to selfies, it can provide softer light, to make the selfie look better. There is even a Game Boy case made just for it, for you to play some classic games at the back, or even some new games like Angry Birds. Overall, this back screen is going to be very useful and fun, we will show you more in the full review.

The overall build looks and feels very premium, the screen is made of so-called M10 material, the brightness will boost up to 3500nits max, but consumes less power, and is more eye-friendly. The bezels are very thin, and are also symmetrical at four corners, it looks very good. It says Xiaomi has put a lot of effort and money into the screens, supposedly leading the industry right now.  

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 debuted on the Xiaomi 17 Series, again the most powerful chipset besides Apple’s A19 Pro. The battery capacity is 7500mAh, which is very impressive to have such a big battery in a bar phone, and part of the reason why the battery should be so large is that, there is a second screen there, more battery is needed. Anyway, we should see more phones with over 7000mAh soon.     

It supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. And surprisingly it supports the regular PPS protocol, so you can also use regular high-power fast chargers that support PPS to charge this phone. Perhaps you can ditch that annoying Xiaomi one in the box, because it still uses Type-A port.

Finally about the camera system, it is a triple 50MP camera setup at the back, and a 50MP camera at the front. The Light Fusion 950 High Dynamic Sensor debuted on the Xiaomi 17 Pro and the Pro Max, and the LOFIC high dynamic range technology can be used in the main camera, which will benefit both photos and video recording a lot. Xiaomi 17

Moving on to the 17, as usual, it is made for those who love small phones. It inherits most of the design from the 15, but the color scheme is leaning towards a more vibrant style. Other than the black and white, there are also pink and blue. Xiaomi claims that they have made a change in the corners of the frame, with a new 19.6:9 ratio, meaning it is more rounded, supposedly very friendly to your palm.

It is still a 6.3” phone, you would feel very secure and pleasant holding it in your hand. The chip inside is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the same as the pro models. And the most notable feature is probably the battery size, 7000mAh, which is massive if we talk about a battery in a small body. One thing to mention though, the Xiaomi 17 Pro’s battery is actually smaller than the 17. The size of these two is the same, but the back screen on the 17 Pro takes up some space inside, therefore, the battery is smaller. It’s a slight trade-off, let us know which one you would choose.

When it comes to the camera system. It has a triple 50MP camera setup, the focal length of the main camera and the telephoto camera haven’t changed, but the wide-angle has changed from 14mm to 17mm, not as wide as before. The Light Fusion 950 High Dynamic Sensor debuted on the Xiaomi 17, it says the dynamic range and anti-flare performance are much improved. Together with the overall performance, we will test them out in the full review. The front camera is also a 50MP.

For some details that weren’t mentioned in the 17, they are either similar or the same as the Pro models.
