While there is no update on the 120W wireless tech, it seems that Xiaomi may soon launch a new smartphone with 200W HyperCharge technology. The reason is that Xiaomi’s 200W charger has received approval from the 3C authority of China.</p>
<p>As seen in the screengrab below, a new power adapter with model number MDY-13-EU has bagged certification from China’s 3C regulatory body. The certification reveals that the new Xiaomi charger supports maximum charging speeds of 20V<span data-startindex="234" data-endindex="236" data-paragraphid="5"> / </span>10A (200W). It is backwards compatible with 5V3A, 9V3A, 11V6A, and 17V10A charging. The 3C certification is a good hint that Xiaomi may soon launch a phone with 200W fast charging support in the coming weeks.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-469809" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Xiaomi-200W.jpg?x23692" alt="Xiaomi 200W" width="1140" height="334" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Xiaomi-200W.jpg 1140w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Xiaomi-200W-300x88.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Xiaomi-200W-1024x300.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Xiaomi-200W-768x225.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Xiaomi-200W-696x204.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Xiaomi-200W-1068x313.jpg 1068w" sizes="(max-width: 1140px) 100vw, 1140px" /></p>
<p>Xiaomi’s 200W HyperCharge technology promises to charge a smartphone in less than 10 minutes. Earlier this year, Xiaomi demoed its 200W charging solution on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-10-ultra">Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra</a>, which houses a 4,500mAh battery. A 200W charger can charge a smartphone with a 4,000mAh battery to 50 percent capacity in 3 minutes, and a full charge takes another 5 minutes.</p>

<p>While it is unclear when exactly Xiaomi will announce a smartphone with 200W charging support, iQOO is all set to become the world’s first smartphone to launch a phone with 200W charging support. iQOO has recently confirmed the upcoming iQOO 10 will support 120W fast charging, whereas the iQOO 10 Pro will arrive with 200W fast charging technology.</p>
<p>Xiaomi is expected to launch the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/08/12/xiaomi-200w-fast-charging-mi-mix-5-2022/">Xiaomi MIX 5 flagship</a> phone in the second half of this year. Last year’s Xiaomi MIX 4 carried support for 120W charging. Hence, it remains to be seen whether the MIX 5 will be made available with 200W HyperCharge technology.</p>

While these speeds were insane, they were not quite ready for commercial use due to a number of safety prerequisites. However, now,<em> DigitalChatStation</em> reveals that speed as fast as 200W may soon get commercialized.</p>
<p>As per the tipster,<a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi"> Xiaomi</a> and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oppo">OPPO</a> are experimenting with the 200W fast charging solution at the moment. These companies are expected to bring the 200W solution for commercial use, meaning that you may see your next Xiaomi or Oppo phone bundled with a 200W fast charging adapter. Or, at least will be able to buy a 200W adapter separately.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-436603 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Xiaomi-200W-2.png?x23692" alt="Xiaomi 200W" width="790" height="209" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Xiaomi-200W-2.png 790w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Xiaomi-200W-2-300x79.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Xiaomi-200W-2-768x203.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Xiaomi-200W-2-696x184.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 790px) 100vw, 790px" /></p>
<p>To recall, Xiaomi&#8217;s 200W charging speed demonstration for the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro proved that the solution could charge the phone&#8217;s entire 4,000mAh battery in under 8 minutes. It just took 3 minutes to get to 50% and 44 seconds to get to 10%.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-394356 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Xiaomi-HyperCharge.jpeg?x23692" alt="Xiaomi HyperCharge 200W Charging" width="798" height="479" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Xiaomi-HyperCharge.jpeg 798w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Xiaomi-HyperCharge-300x180.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Xiaomi-HyperCharge-768x461.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Xiaomi-HyperCharge-696x418.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Xiaomi-HyperCharge-700x420.jpeg 700w" sizes="(max-width: 798px) 100vw, 798px" /></p>
<p>As of now, we don&#8217;t have any official confirmation as to when we might see the technology for commercial use. But a past report revealed that Xiaomi may start the mass production of the 200W fast charging solution by Q2 of this year.</p>
<p>As for Oppo, the company earlier started<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/12/oppos-125w-super-fast-charger-will-reportedly-go-commercial-in-q1-next-year/"> mass producing the 125W</a> wired fast charging technology. It is testing the technology with dual-cell batteries and implementing smart charging technology with the help of battery safety detection chips. Having said that, the company may also start mass-producing the 200W solution and we might see it soon.</p>

The charging concept of the Hypercharge was demonstrated with a Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro device that sports a 4,000mAh battery. The results announced by Xiaomi indicated that the HyperCharge technology was able to offer 200W wired charging from zero to 100% in a new world record of 8 minutes. On the other hand, the HyperCharge also produced 120W wireless charging to the Mi 11 Pro from zero to 100% in 15 minutes, a world record for wireless charging.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Xiaomi-HyperCharge.jpg?x23692"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-392217" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Xiaomi-HyperCharge.jpg?x23692" alt="Xiaomi HyperCharge" width="1494" height="900" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Xiaomi-HyperCharge.jpg 1494w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Xiaomi-HyperCharge-300x181.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Xiaomi-HyperCharge-768x463.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Xiaomi-HyperCharge-1024x617.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Xiaomi-HyperCharge-696x419.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Xiaomi-HyperCharge-1068x643.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Xiaomi-HyperCharge-697x420.jpg 697w" sizes="(max-width: 1494px) 100vw, 1494px" /></a></p>
<p>A new report monitored in China (via <a href="https://news.mydrivers.com/1/770/770677.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">MyDrivers</a>) indicates that the Xiaomi HyperCharge could debut in a smartphone as early as 2022, when mass production is scheduled to commence by June 2022. The innovative technology will most likely debut with one of the flagships from one of the 2022 flagships from Xiaomi. As per the report, the HyperCharge could come with the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra.</p>
<p>After the May 2021 demonstration of the HyperCharge on a Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro smartphone, several key questions were asked about the device&#8217;s technology. It was also shown that the battery power, based on computations, would decline by 20% after 800 cycles of the HyperCharge fast charging.</p>
<p>There were also concerns about whether the HyperCharge technology could apply to other devices outside the Mi range. There is a race by both smartphone manufacturers and accessories makers for the ultimate charging device for super-fast charging and minimal decline in battery life. Current charging speeds are between 30 minutes and up to two hours. Manufacturers have continued to push the boundaries in charging speeds, and the stated world records of Xiaomi both for wired and wireless charging could be breached soon.</p>

The research team is led by Dr. Ashray Rao of Cambridge&#8217;s Cavendish Laboratory. The team examined the charging and discharging behavior of lithium-ion batteries and developed a mechanism to control the charging speed that resulted in super-fast charging of batteries.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/s_2f2110e5d60b4537a0e03e6683a6edee.jpg?x23692"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-370491" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/s_2f2110e5d60b4537a0e03e6683a6edee.jpg?x23692" alt="Xiaomi" width="600" height="337" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/s_2f2110e5d60b4537a0e03e6683a6edee.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/s_2f2110e5d60b4537a0e03e6683a6edee-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Recently, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> previewed a fast-charging system called <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/05/31/xiaomi-introduces-200w-wired-and-120w-wireless-hypercharge-solutions-fully-charges-in-8-minutes/">200W HyperCharge</a>, capable of achieving a full charge for the Mi 11 within 8 minutes. The drawback for the Xiaomi system is that it does not apply to other devices apart from the Mi 11.</p>
<p>The revolutionary Cambridge charging technology is reported to be low cost and could scale up the battery&#8217;s charging cycle while avoiding overheating. The opportunities for this research are outstanding. It offers a huge change in technology speed to keep up with the inner workings of the lithium-ion battery. It is not known yet how soon the research will transit from the lab to the market within the next few years.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Xiaomi-HyperCharge.jpeg?x23692"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-394356" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Xiaomi-HyperCharge.jpeg?x23692" alt="Xiaomi HyperCharge 200W Charging" width="798" height="479" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Xiaomi-HyperCharge.jpeg 798w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Xiaomi-HyperCharge-300x180.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Xiaomi-HyperCharge-768x461.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Xiaomi-HyperCharge-696x418.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Xiaomi-HyperCharge-700x420.jpeg 700w" sizes="(max-width: 798px) 100vw, 798px" /></a></p>
<p>The quest for the ultimate charging solution is still on. A raft of different approaches has been mooted, including a technique that will use sound energy to charge phones and other devices. However, these emerging technologies are seriously limited as they are yet to achieve the breakthrough needed to transit these technologies to tangible products.</p>
<p>It has to be noted that tremendous progress has been made in the evolution of batteries and their accompanying charging systems. It is now possible to have super-fast charging, both for wired and wireless settings. Just recently, Infinix unveiled its 2021 flagship concept smartphone, packing a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/06/28/infinix-concept-phone-2021-160w-fast-charging-support-0-100-just-10-minutes/">160W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging</a>. This new system is equally faster than Infinix&#8217;s which is touted to fully charge a dead 4000mAh battery in 10 minutes.</p>
