Last week, Redmi finally took wraps off the Redmi K50 series in China. The lineup was accompanied by Redmi K40S. It is the most affordable phone announced at the event. The global variant of this smartphone has now made its appearance on Geekbench.

The Redmi K40S launched in China is codenamed ‘Munch’ and it bears the model number 22021211RC. The global version of this handset with model number 22021211RG has been now spotted at Geekbench in less than a week from the release of the original.

This is not the first time we are hearing about the global variant of the Redmi K40S (previously known as Redmi K50). The device has been already certified by other agencies earlier. In fact, there’s also an Indian variant with model number 22021211RI.

Per certifications, the smartphone will release with POCO branding outside mainland China. It is rumored to be called POCO F4. The handset is said to retain the same name for India.

Talking about specifications, it will likely have the same set of features as the Redmi K40S. However, there could be some differences in the rear design.

So we can expect the so-called POCO F4 to arrive with a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, 48MP (wide, OIS) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (macro) triple camera system, 20MP selfie camera, dual stereo speakers, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, MIUI 13 based on Android 12, 4,500mAh battery, and 67W fast charging.

POCO is yet to officially tease the arrival of the rumored POCO F4.

The Xiaomi group is expected to introduce new smartphones very soon. The company’s next big release will be the Redmi K50 series. Other than that, it is also anticipated to announce new budget models under Redmi and POCO brands, in addition to ultra-premium phones like the successors of Mi 11 Ultra and Mi MIX Fold. Amidst this, two mysterious handsets from the company have made their appearance on a certification website.

According to Xiaomiui, three Xiaomi group smartphones have been certified by BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards). This suggests that these devices with model numbers 22021211RI, 22041219PI, and 22011119I may launch in India.

Out of the trio, one of them carrying model number 22021211RI had already received the BIS certification in early February. The Chinese variant of this phone with model number 22021211RC is said to go official as Redmi K50.

Per TENAA, the so-called Redmi K50 will be available in three memory configurations, such as 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB. It is rumored to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC and is expected to look like a vivo handset.

Xiaomiui says that the device will launch under the POCO brand in India. It might go official as POCO F4 in the country.

On the other hand, the smartphones with model numbers 22041219PI and 22011119I were also earlier spotted in the IMEI database in January.  The former is said to release under the POCO brand and the latter under Redmi. Specifically, Xiaomiui suggests that the first one could launch as POCO M4 5G.

Yesterday, three smartphones supposedly belonging to the Redmi K50 series got certified by TENAA. At the same time, one of these handsets had also appeared on BIS. Let’s check out what we can expect from this device.

According to Yash (@i_hsay), a Xiaomi group phone with model number 22021211RI has been certified by BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards). Hence, we can expect this handset to launch in India.

The BIS listing of the said smartphone went live, following the TENAA certification of its Chinese variant with model number 22021211RC. Digital Chat Station says that this device is part of the upcoming Redmi K50 series.

Unfortunately, the exact name of the phone is a mystery as of now. However, thanks to Geekbench, we know that it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset.

This handset is long rumored as the vanilla Redmi K50. For the unaware, last year’s Redmi K40 is known as Mi 11X in India and POCO F3 in other international markets. Hence, the newer model could go official as Xiaomi 12X and POCO F4 outside mainland China.

However, there’s a problem with the ‘Xiaomi 12X’ branding. The company already sells a smartphone called Xiaomi 12X in China as a toned-down version of vanilla Xiaomi 12.

We expect to learn more about this phone in the coming days as it is anticipated to launch by the end of February in China. Perhaps, we may learn its official names very soon.
