Xiaomi recently held a launch event for the global debut of the Xiaomi 14T series smartphones, as well as the Redmi Note 14 series. Alongside the smartphones, the brand has also unveiled the Xiaomi Buds 5, which was initially launched in China back in July 2024.

The Xiaomi Buds 5 has 11mm dual-magnet drivers and Harman AudioEFX tuning that promise to deliver crisp, immersive sound supported by Qualcomm aptX Lossless and Hi-Res Audio certification.

The Buds 5 features a comfortable half-in-ear design and advanced wide-frequency active noise cancellation (ANC) with customizable modes and AI adaptive options, ensuring clear audio in any environment. For crystal-clear calls, even in windy conditions, the earbuds include triple-mic technology and built-in audio recording capabilities, making them ideal for content creators.

For connectivity, the earbuds use Bluetooth 5.4, with support for dual device smart connection. There is also a 73ms low latency mode compatible with select Xiaomi and POCO devices, including the Xiaomi MIX Flip, Xiaomi 14 Ultra, Xiaomi 14, POCO F6 Pro, and POCO F6. The brand has promised support for more models in the future.

The earbuds promise up to 39 hours of battery life in total with ANC off, and 20 hours with ANC on. Each earbud can last 6.5 with ANC turned off and 3.5 hours with ANC on. With just 10 minutes of charging, users can get up to 2.5 hours of playback. The earbuds also feature dust and water resistance (IP54), making them a suitable companion for workouts.

These are not to be confused with the Redmi Buds 5 that are available in the international markets. The Xiaomi Buds 5 arrive as the successor to the Buds 4 that debuted way back in 2022. Xiaomi Buds 5 specifications

The Xiaomi Buds 5 features a dual-tone design with a glossy finish stem and the earbuds part with a matte texture. They give a premium look and feel. The TWS earphones are lightweight measuring just 4.2 grams. They are designed in such a way to fit the curve of the human ear comfortably. The audio device is IP54-certified dust and water-resistant. There Buds 5 come with smart controls for performing various functions. They can also generate content summaries with one click.

In the audio department, the Xiaomi Buds 5 are equipped with 11mm drivers. There is active noise cancellation for filtering out surrounding noise and three inbuilt mics in each earbud with AI noise cancellation delivers crystal clear quality on calls. The TWS earphones feature Qualcomm aptX Lossless that delivers audio in original quality without any compression. Xiaomi has also teamed up with Harman’s Golden Ear Team for a customized and various sound effects. Xiaomi has scheduled a launch event for July 19th at 7:00 PM CST, where they will unveil several new products. Among the anticipated releases is the new set of earbuds, the Xiaomi Buds 5. The company has also released several promotional posters showcasing the design of these upcoming earbuds.

The Xiaomi Buds 5 is expected to focus on improved audio quality with support for lossless audio, described by Xiaomi as delivering “lossless audio, natural sound.” This suggests an upgrade from the previous generation’s offerings.

The design appears to remain semi-in-ear, similar to Apple’s AirPods, but with the addition of a new gold color option. Xiaomi Buds 5 was recently spotted on multiple certification sites hinting at an upcoming launch. After the FCC, SDPPI, SIRIM, and CMIIT certifications, the device has now emerged on Singapore’s IMDA and UAE’s TDRA certification.

Market by model number “M2319E1”, the certifications have the device listed as a “Short range devices/ Low Power Devices”. There is essentially nothing here that would reveal any hardware or features onboard the upcoming earbuds, however, it does reveal that the device is essentially greenlit to launch in Singapore and the UAE by respective authorities. Since these earbuds will be the successors of the Xiaomi Buds 4, we can get an idea of what we can expect by looking at the Buds 4.

In addition to the smartphone, there’s news of Xiaomi planning to release a new set of earbuds, which could be the Xiaomi Buds 5. These earbuds have been discovered (via TheTechOutlook) on several certification sites, including the FCC, under the model number M2341E1, hinting at an imminent launch.

The FCC listing provides some specifics about the Xiaomi Buds 5, revealing that they will operate in a frequency range of 2400 MHz to 2483.5 MHz and feature a PIFA antenna with an impedance of 50 Ohms.
