Looking at these promotional posters, it is clear that the company aims on unveiling its latest product in areas like provincial capitals, capitals, and municipalities in China first. For those unaware, the CyberDog is a bio inspired quadruped robot is powered by NVIDIA’s Jetson Xavier NX AI Supercomputer for Embedded and Edge Systems paired with 128GB of SSD storage.

Furthermore, the new robot also houses a number of cameras, microphones, and sensors on the head of the robot that gives it spatial perception capabilities that is comparable to the human eye. This includes AI cameras, binocular ultra wide cameras and Intel’s RealSense D450 depth camera module that enables it to avoid obstacles as it navigates its way around. It even sports SLAM mapping and auto tracking.

In other words, it makes this product significantly more affordable than the US made robot.

This is the company’s Biggest TV by-far in the country. After multiple sales across its online channels, Xiaomi is finally ready to let users experience the 98-inch madness in a store and buy it offline.

As Mydrivers reports, Xiaomi‘s Mi Home Weibo has shared an official post regarding the arrival of the TV. Accordingly, Xiaomi will open a new Mi Shenyang Changbai Wanxianghui store on December 12 in China. The Mi Home store will be located in Shenyang city, northeast Liaoning Province of the country. Anyway, at the launch, the company says it will unveil the Redmi Smart TV MAX 98-inch for the first time in an offline store.

If you recall, the company, despite announcing the TV two weeks back, launched the 98-inch TV only on 9th April, 2020 in China. Priced at 19,999 yuan($3054), the TV was available for sale online via Xiaomi Mall and official website. Now, after about eight-months of sale, the company seems to be bringing it to the offline market as well.

That said, the improvement in sales could have made the company push it for the offline segment. To be precise, the company first sold over 1,500 units in less than 11 hours back in June. Later, it followed this trend with another 1,600 unit sales in a single day. Having said that, we need to wait and see how Xiaomi manages to attract the offline audience to buy this humongous TV.

Coming back, Xiaomi says the new Store will also include gifts for people who buy the Redmi Smart TV MAX 98-inch. One such is the Redmi Note 9 as per the company’s post. However, it’s unclear if the gift will be a 4G or one of the 5G versions. Additionally, there are other surprise gifts as well but they are supposed to be limited.

The Redmi Smart TV MAX 98-inch is as tall as the company’s founder Lei Jun. The TV is huge and complex to build as well. Consequently, installing the TV at your home also requires a special professional team. Some of the notable features include a 98-inch 4K UHD display panel(LCD) that has 85% NTSC color gamut, 192 dynamic backlight zones, MEMC motion compensation, custom Amlogic T972 SoC with 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, and more image quality tuning technology.

This is coming even as the company pledged to go slower at its pace of business expansion and to completely change its online-focused retail strategy which had been successful but unable to sustain the company’s growth.

Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun is credited to have laid down the company’s strategy for 2017 in a memo posted on WeChat. The Chief Executive of China’s most valuable startup, in the memo, talked about drastically increasing its store network with additional 200 outlets established. He also envisioned a global expansion for the brand, as well as deepening research into artificial intelligence and online finance. The CEO admitted that Xiaomi had tried to expand too rapidly in past years.

As at 2014, Xiaomi was valued at $45 billion USD, gaining a reputation as the world’s largest startup. The company was even compared to US innovative tech company Apple after it doubled its revenue that yet and made it up the ladder to the top of the Chinese smartphone market. Unfortunately, the company when into decline after that year, falling short of its target shipments in 2015 and thus falling behind rivals OPPO, Vivo and Huawei. This same 100 billion yuan target was even set in 2015, but the company failed to disclose its revenue for that year and the subsequent one (2016), perhaps due to its woeful outing.

The company even failed to consolidate on the success of its online-only sales model which fostered the bond with its fans and reduced cost for the company. When rivals copied the strategy and created competition as well as focusing on their own offline sales strategy, the company was left in the lurch without making efforts to add other channels to its sales model. Now, according to Lei Jun, Xiaomi plans to build on a network of about 54 outlets around the country. Another strategy the company seems to be pursuing is a shift outside the Chinese market, especially North America and India. While it may be difficult breaking into the US circuit, India holds lots of potentials for the company. In 2016, smartphone sales surpassed $1 billion USD for Xiaomi in India. That figure could more than double if the right approach is employed because the company enjoys teeming support from fans globally.

Another avenue the company hopes to explore this year is its other products aside smartphones. The company has in its arsenal, a wide range of electronic gadgets like air purifiers, robot vacuums, smartTVs, washing machine, scooters, bikes, and several others which are manufactured by its ecosystem-partners. Mr Lei Jun did disclose that the company garnered over 15 billion yuan from such sales in 2016 and as such would continue with the partnership system. Xiaomi is an innovative company with lots of potentials, it is hoped the company can find its bearing this year and get back right on track soon.

Having 110 Chinese citizens, the team returned safely to the Chinese mainland two days ago, on March 13. Successful on its own accord, the mission served as further proof of the power of Chinese smartphones, Xiaomi in particular.

A number of team members of the Chinese peacekeeping police force shared through the micro-blogging network Weibo their thoughts on the mission, as well as a few photos through their Xiaomi smartphones. “The Signal Strength was absolutely great,” members of the team stated, giving further proof that Xiaomi hardware is a force to be reckoned with.

According to officials, the mission in Liberia served a test area for the Xiaomi smartphones and following the successful testing, the mobile devices have now become standard equipment for the Liberia FPU team.

The war in the West African country Liberia has been progressing in the course of over ten years. The Chinese peacekeeping police force was invited as a part of the United Nations team to perform various helpful missions, including infrastructure work, repairs and transportation. While the country’s communications have been damaged by the war, thus resulting in a low signal strength, the Xiaomi Smartphones proved to be powerful enough to deliver a top notch performance even in the harsh area of Liberia.
