This year we saw two new handsets from this series, with the latest released just a few days ago, at the end of last month: we are talking about the Xiaomi Civi 2. Before this device, earlier this year, the Chinese giant came up with the Xiaomi Civi 1S, an upgrade of the first phone from the series released in 2021. The latest two devices from the series share several things in common and a lot of people are wondering whether it is better to purchase the older one in order to save some money or spend more on the latest device. We will try to let you find out through this comparison between the specifications of the Xiaomi Civi 1S and the Xiaomi Civi 2.

Design

Both Xiaomi Civi 1S and Xiaomi Civi 2 come with a stunning design: they are among the most beautiful phones ever released. Despite it being an older phone, I personally prefer the Xiaomi Civi 1S for a few reasons. First of all, it is a thinner and lighter phone, so it can fit better in your hands, especially if they are small. Both phones are built with an aluminum frame and a glass back protected by Gorilla Glass 5, but the 1S has a higher screen to body ratio. While the new model has a pill shaped punch hole, the older one has a single punch hole for a more minimalistic look. Further, it also comes with a smaller and less invasive camera module. These are the reasons why I prefer the Xiaomi Civi 1S: do you agree or you would go for the more recent model due to its similarities to the latest iPhones?

Display

From the Xiaomi Civi 1S to the Xiaomi Civi 2, almost nothing changed in terms of display. They are equipped with OLED panels showing vivid colors and deep blacks, and they are able to show up to one billion colors. The diagonal of these panels is 6.55 inches and they sport a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, Dolby Vision support, the HDR10+ certification, and an in-display fingerprint reader. There are only two important differences between these displays: the first is the shape of the punch hole, as we already mentioned above, but this does not affect the image quality. The second is the presence of higher peak brightness on the Xiaomi Civi 2, with up to 1,000 nits. A more important difference regards the audio departments since the Xiaomi Civi 1S has stereo speakers, while its internal rival has just a mono speaker.

Specs & Software

The Xiaomi Civi 2 offers higher performance thanks to the presence of an upgraded chipset. We are talking about the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 mobile platform by Qualcomm built with a 4 nm production process and sporting an octa-core architecture with a max clock frequency of 2.4 GHz. Alongside this chipset, you can find either 8 or 12 GB of RAM and either 128 or 256 GB of UFS 2.2 native storage. The Xiaomi Civi 1S is not far from its internal rival, but its processor is inferior: we are referring to the Snapdragon 778G+ chipset by Qualcomm built with a 6 nm production process. It has an octa-core architecture composed of a Cortex A78 CPU running at a max frequency of 2.5 GHz, three Cortex A78 CPUs running at 2.4 GHz, four Cortex A55 CPUs running at 1.9 GHz, and an Adreno 642L GPU. Both these Xiaomi devices run Android 12 out of the box, customized by MIUI 13.

Camera

The camera setup of the Xiaomi Civi 2 is definitely more convincing. It is equipped with a triple rear camera including a main 50 MP sensor with an f/1.8 focal aperture, a great 20 MP ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 focal aperture, and a 2 MP macro camera. Further, it has a dual front camera including a 32 MP main sensor and a 32 MP ultrawide shooter, as well as a front-facing LED flash. It is one of the most advanced selfie phones out there. The Xiaomi Civi 1S has a triple rear camera with a 64 MP main sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide lens, and a 2 MP macro camera, while on the front, it comes with a single 32 MP selfie snapper.

Battery

The battery capacities of these two phones are exactly the same: 4500 mAh. But the Xiaomi Civi 2 is able to guarantee a longer battery life because its processor is built with a better 4 nm production process, so it has lower energy consumption. Further, it features a faster charging technology with a power of 67W.

Price

The starting price of the Xiaomi Civi 2 in the Chinese market roughly translates into €350 or $350 at the actual change, while you need at least €330 or $330 to grab a unit of the Xiaomi Civi 1S, but currently, it has better street prices. Which one would you pick?

It replaces the old CC series and includes sleek phones with amazing designs. A few days ago, the second device of the series went official: the Xiaomi Civi 1S. It brings to the market a stunning design and great upper-midrange specifications. If you want to find a competitor of this phone, you should definitely look at the Realme 9 Pro+, another phone with a beautiful design providing high performance. Are you wondering which one should you choose? This is a comparison between the specifications of the Xiaomi Civi 1S and the Realme 9 Pro Plus which will hopefully answer your question.

Design

The battle between these two phones is very hard when it comes to design. The Xiaomi Civi 1S is one of the thinnest and most lightweight phones you can find in the whole market, with a thickness of just 7 mm and a weight of just 166 grams. It is made of premium materials including a glass back and an aluminum frame, it has a great look and suggestive color variants. The Realme 9 Pro+ is thicker and heavier, but it is more compact and, in the Sunrise Blue variant, it has a rear side able to change its color in a few seconds when the user puts the smartphone under direct sunlight or UV rays. Which design do you prefer? In my personal opinion, the Xiaomi Civi 1S has better aesthetics.

Display

If you are looking for the best display, then you should opt for the Xiaomi Civi 1S. It has a 6.55-inch OLED panel with one billion colors, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, the HDR10+ standard, an in-display fingerprint reader, and Dolby Vision, protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The Realme 9 Pro+ has an OLED Full HD+ panel as well, but without Dolby Vision and HDR10+, with a lower 90 Hz refresh rate, and with a smaller 6.4-inch diagonal. But there is an interesting killer feature of this device that you should know: the in-display fingerprint reader doubles as a heart rate sensor.

Specs & Software

The Xiaomi Civi 1S are very close in terms of hardware and performance, but we have to pick a winner. The Snapdragon 778G Plus mobile platform found on the Xiaomi Civi 1S is actually more powerful than the MediaTek Dimensity 920 found on the Realme 9 Pro+. Further, the Xiaomi mid-ranger comes with up to 12 GB of RAM, while you get only 8 GB of RAM with the Realme one. So you will get better CPU, GPU, and multi-tasking performance with the new Civi. Both the phones come with Android 12 out of the box and custom user interfaces on top: MIUI 13 and Realme UI 3.0 based on ColorOS 12, respectively.

Camera

The best camera phone in this comparison is the Realme 9 Pro+ for one single reason: it has a flagship-class main camera. We are talking about the Sony IMX766 sensor with a 50 MP resolution and OIS. Both the handsets come with an 8 MP ultrawide lens and a 2 MP macro sensor, but the Xiaomi Civi 1S has an inferior 64 MP main camera. On the other hand, the Civi comes with a better 32 MP front camera, so it is a better phone for selfies.

Battery

Xiaomi Civi 1S and Realme 9 Pro Plus are equipped with good 4500 mAh batteries: the capacity is exactly the same and even the production process of the processors are the same, so we do not expect a big difference in terms of battery life. Maybe the Realme device will last a bit longer because of its smaller display. The charging speeds are similar too because they feature 55W fast charging and 60W fast charging, respectively.

Price

Xiaomi Civi 1S starts from €330/$347, while you can find the Realme 9 Pro+ at €400/$421 globally. The Civi is still not available globally. Which of these phones is the best? There is no definitive answer: the Civi 1S has a better design, display, and chipset, while the Realme 9 Pro+ is a better camera phone with faster charging.

The Xiaomi Civi 1S will be released tomorrow as the second smartphone under the Civi series.
The Xiaomi Civi is the first model in the Civi series and was unveiled in China back in September last year. The Civi series is the successor to the Xiaomi CC lineup.

The Snapdragon 778G+ 5G Mobile Platform packs power at every turn. It harnesses pumped-up performance, enhanced AI, and 5G connectivity. According to Qualcomm, it is designed for superior communication, gaming, audio, and several other applications. It has lower processing times than its predecessor, including the boosted Qualcomm Kryo 670 CPU and Qualcomm Adreno 642L GPU. The 6tg-gen SoC provides for real-time, seamless interactions that won’t drain power or inhibit device performance. The Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ Technology re-juices the device at great speeds.

The Snapdragon 778G+ chip is among a list of improved features from the previous model. Xiaomi also said that the Civi 1S will be smoother, more durable, and have longer battery life.

There are several other features of the Xiaomi Civi that are still not known. However, the grey areas will be illuminated with the April 21 launch of the Civi 1S in China. Global availability details could be disclosed at the launch.

Xiaomi Civi 1S Launch Date

The Xiaomi Civi 1S will be unveiled at an event on April 21 in China. The conference will kickstart at 2 PM CST. The event will be live-streamed on Weibo and other well-known Chinese video streaming platforms

Xiaomi Civi 1S Design

Xiaomi has officially revealed the design of the Xiaomi Civi 1S. The short video teaser and promotional renders suggest that the device will look identical to the original Xiaomi Civi.

The handset will house a rectangular rear camera island. The sensors will be placed in a triangular fashion with a large primary sensor at the top and two secondary sensors below it.

The phone’s rear panel will have a sparkling finish and the frame will be made of metal. Finally, it will also retain the curved display from the original model.

Xiaomi Civi 1S Specifications

Multiple tipsters have disclosed the specs of Xiaomi Civi 1S and their details align with one another. First and foremost, the handset will flaunt a 6.55-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with up to a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen will sport a resolution of FHD+ and a centered punch-hole.

Further, it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus SoC paired with 8GB/12GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage. For comparison, the original Xiaomi Civi features a non-LTPO AMOLED display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset.

The cameras on the Xiaomi Civi 1S will be different from the original Xiaomi Civi. The newer model is said to arrive with a 32MP Sony IMX616 selfie camera instead of a 32MP Samsung ISOCELL GD1 sensor.

The rear camera system will include a 2MP monochrome sensor instead of a 2MP macro snapper. The setup will consist of an OIS-enabled 64MP Samsung ISOCELL GW3 primary shooter and an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide unit. The original Xiaomi Civi does not come with OIS.

Though the upcoming smartphone will be backed by the same 4,500mAh battery as the older model, it could have support for 67W fast charging instead of 55W fast charging.

On the software front, the Xiaomi Civi 1S will boot MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box. Whereas, the original Xiaomi Civi debuted with Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 and was updated to MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition and Android 12-based MIUI 13.

Xiaomi Civi 1S Expected Price

The original Xiaomi Civi was introduced at ¥2,599 (8GB + 128GB), ¥2,899 (8GB + 256GB), and ¥3,199 (12GB + 256GB). Even after nearly 7 months, the phone is currently retailing at the same price.

However, it is worth noting that it received a limited-time discount a couple of months back. Also, even now, retailers are offering discount coupons of their own.

At present, we are not sure if Xiaomi has plans to discontinue the original Xiaomi Civi after the launch of the Xiaomi Civi 1S. If that’s the case, then we can expect the upcoming smartphone to cost the same. If not, it could be priced a bit higher than the original model.

Recent reports have claimed that the company is gearing up to launch an enhanced version of the device. Today, the brand released an official confirmation that it will be announcing the Xiaomi CIVI 1S at 7 PM (local time) on April 21 in China. As mentioned above, the CIVI 1S will not be a successor, but an updated version of the existing phone.

As can be seen in the below-shown teaser, the Xiaomi CIVI 1S has an ultra-thin design. The rear side of the phone has a triple camera unit at the top-left comer. With only three days remaining until the launch, the company is expected to release more Weibo posts to confirm the key features of the Xiaomi CIVI 1S.

Recent reports have revealed that the Xiaomi CIVI 1S will be equipped with a 6.55-inch AMOLED LTPO screen that will offer a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. As far as display design is concerned, the CIVI 1S will have curved edges and a punch-hole placed at the top-centre position.

The front side of the Xiaomi CIVI 1S may feature a 32-megapixel Sony IMX616 selfie camera. Its rear camera setup may include an OIS-enabled 64-megapixel Samsung GW3 lens, an 8-megapixel Sony IMX355 ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel B&W camera.

The Snapdragon 778G Plus chipset could be present under the hood of the Xiaomi CIVI 1S. It may come with 8 GB / 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB / 256 GB of native storage. It could come with a 4,500mAh battery, which may carry support for 55W or 67W fast charging.
