Xiaomi released the Mi Max which is its first device with the largest ever display size in May this year and the device was a huge success, receiving over 8 million registrations prior to its first flash sales. The device carried a 6.44-inch display while it was moderately priced at 1499 yuan ($224).

Just two months after it first went on sales, it has been reported that the massive phablet has recorded over 1.5 million sales during this period. This was revealed by an analyst, @Kevin Wang who stated this figure from the view point of supply chain, since the Xiaomi Max has been on sale for two months, it had shipped more than 1.5 million units.

He further adds that this is a great achievement considering no other 6-inch smartphone has managed to achieve this feat.

The report was forwarded by CEO Lei Jun saying the Xiaomi Max is the best choice for users who love large screen devices. This seem to lend credence to the assertion that over 1.5 million Xiaomi Mi Max units have been sold in just two months.

The opening up of more offline sales channels could see the Mi Max and other Xiaomi devices make monumental sales records at the year’s end, considering their cheap pricing.

It is said that Xiaomi will make 100,000 units available for purchase on May 17, which means once again it’s going to be extremely hard for fans to purchase this device. Only the 32GB SD650 model will be available for sale next week.

So, why is the Xiaomi Max so popular? Well, it is the first large screen phablet from the company till date, coming with a massive 6.4-inch 1080p display. As for the other specs, the phone comes in three different versions, one powered by Snapdragon 650 and the other two by Snapdragon 652. At the back, there will be a 16MP rear camera while up front, a 5MP shooter.

As for the three versions, here are the details:

Snapdragon 650 powered version comes with 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM and retails for 1499 Yuan ($230).

Snapdragon 652 powered low-end version comes with 3GB RAM, 64GB ROM and costs 1699 Yuan ($260).

Finally, the SD652 top-end version comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB ROM and costs 1999 Yuan ($308).

In fact, according to the latest information, the phone is going to come with a massive 6.4-inch display to satisfy the needs of users who crave a large screen. Under the hood, the phone should come with Snapdragon 650 hexa-core chip with 2GB / 3GB RAM variants and 16GB / 32GB storage options. Expect a 16MP rear camera with an 8MP front shooter, 4000mAh+ battery and Android 6 with MIUI 8 on top. All these features for a price tag of around $200 make it a worthy phablet for budget users.
