More and more users are making use of smartphones to capture photos. In the recent years, popular Chinese smartphone OEMs such as Huawei, OPPO and Vivo have concentrated on launching phones that high-end cameras. Xiaomi phones have always offered best specs at reasonable cost, but when it comes to photography, its smartphones haven’t raised much praises. However, the Mi Note 3 and Mi MIX 2S that offer AI enabled photography experience have managed to rank well on DxOMark benchmarks. This shows that Xiaomi is putting more efforts to launch phones with better photography prowess. An internal email from Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has surfaced online. It reveals that the company is planning to setup a new camera department to fulfil its goal of launching smartphones with stellar cameras.

According to Jun’s statement in the leaked email, since photography has become one of the key factors for many users, the company has decided to establish a separate camera department within the mobile phone division. By having a new camera division, the company aims to launch future Xiaomi phones with excellent cameras that will be on par with the top smartphone OEMs of the world.

On DxOMark, the Mi Note 3 has salvaged a score of 94 for photography whereas the Mi MIX 2S has scored 101. It is quite evident that Xiaomi is aiming to offer better photography experience on future phones. Currently, smartphones from Huawei and Apple are leading the DxOMark benchmarks.

Leaked information has revealed that the Xiaomi Mi 7 will be arriving with 16-megapixel dual rear cameras and a selfie camera of 13-megapixel. Like the Mi MIX 2S, the cameras of the Mi 7 are pegged to arrive with AI capabilities.

The Xiaomi Mi 7 is slated to debut with the 8^th Anniversary Edition smartphone later this month. A recent report has revealed that the Mi 7 will be available on pre-orders from May 27. However, the Chinese manufacturer is yet to release teasers on the forthcoming Mi 7 and Mi 8 flagship phones.

Companies have often skipped certain names for their flagships. It looks like Xiaomi is also going to skip a number for its upcoming Mi series flagship.

Traditionally, after the Mi 6’s launch back in 2017, we should be seeing the Mi 7 flagship in 2018. However, the popular blogger from China, Mocha RQ claims that Xiaomi will skip the Mi 7 name in favour of calling it the Xiaomi Mi 8. He explains that the company wants the name to align with its 8th anniversary. Chinese companies are often obsessed with numbers and it kind of make sense how Xiaomi would want to call its new Mi series flagship as the Xiaomi Mi 8 to celebrate its 8th anniversary in 2018. Further, he adds that the phone will be announced in May but will go on sale in June.

Just a few hours ago, there was another report that claimed the existence of Xiaomi’s 8th anniversary phone. However, the report added that it would be a special edition model that would launch alongside the Mi 7. That kind of contradicts this statement from MochaRQ who claims that there won’t be a Mi 7 at all.

Irrespective of whether it’ll be called as the Mi 7 or the Mi 8, we know that the new model will come with powerful specs. Other likely features include Snapdragon 845, 8GB RAM, and maybe even a 256GB ROM option. But these are just speculations at the moment.

Skipping a number for a new flagship isn’t a big deal as long as the phone is loaded with powerful hardware and features. If the launch is around the end of May as these reports predict, then expect the first set of teasers of the Mi 8 in the next few days.

Unconfirmed reports tip the Xiaomi Mi 7 as launching on May 23. Even though the date isn’t certain, we won’t fail to notice the avalanche of leaks bothering on the Mi 7 that have been appearing online lately. You may wish to check out our Mi 7 rumour round up article. Yet another Mi 7 leak has appeared online. This time around we get to see the TPU case of the device. Ordinarily, this would have been nothing spectacular if not that it confirms a few features of the device.

One of the features that the TPU cases confirms is the presence of the 3.5mm audio jack on the device. The cut out for the 3.5mm audio jack is located at the chin, just by the side of the USB port. In addition, the USB port is a Type-C port. At the top edge, there is only an opening for the IR blaster.

The cases also seem to lay to rest talks of the Mi 7 packing a vertically aligned rear camera similar to that of the Mi Mix 2s in design. The power button and volume rockets are all located  at the right-hand side of the device.

After launching the Mi MIX 2S smartphone, China-based Xiaomi is now gearing up to launch its new flagship smartphone — Mi 7, which is the successor of the Mi 6 launched last year.

Now, ahead of the phone’s official launch, pricing information of the Mi 7 has been leaked online. According to the leak, the phone will start at 2,799 Yuan for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant while the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model will cost 3,299 Yuan.

It appears that the leak comes from Xiaomi Mall website. However, we could not verify the accuracy of this new leak. So, take this information with a pinch of salt.

The smartphone is expected to come with a notched display, similar to other flagship smartphones launched this year. It is also speculated to pack an OLED display, which suggests that it will come with Always-On Display feature.

As for the display size, reports suggest that the Mi 7 could be featuring a 5.6-inch OLED display and the rumored large-sized Mi 7 Plus may come equipped with a 6.01-inch OLED display. The notch on the display is expected to feature an infrared camera which suggests that the device will carry support for 3D facial recognition.

Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor, along with 6GB RAM and two internal storage options — 64GB and 128GB. Coming to the camera department, the phone is expected to feature a 16-megapixel dual camera setup at the back.

Running on the MIUI based on Android Oreo operating system, the Xiaomi Mi 7 is expected to be powered by a 3,350mAh battery with support for Qi Wireless Charging, similar to what we saw on the recently launched Mi MIX 2S.

The Xiaomi Mi 7 is expected to launch later this month, probably at a launch event on 23rd May. Images related to the 23rd May launch of Mi 7 has been circulating online on Chinese microblogging platform, but it does not come from official sources.

Xiaomi made a detour from its launch itinerary for last year by unveiling the Mi Mix 2s as its first flagship for 2018.  That being the case, the next flagship the company is expected to unveil is the Mi 7. Yet another leak has emerged and this time around it is the supposed tempered glass protective film for the Xiaomi Mi 7 flagship.

Earlier rumours, including leaked Mi 7 firmware data had tipped the device to have a cut-out on the display, otherwise called display notch. This leaked screen panel comes with a notch design which confirms the speculations. As with the leaked poster, we can’t confirm if this leaked protective film actually reflects the display design of the Mi 7. 

This might be disappointing for those who hate to see any more smartphone with a notch on the display but it is probably in keeping up with the trend. Like it or not, the notch display design is gradually turning out to be a trending one since the iPhone X launch and it won’t be wise if Xiaomi doesn’t grab a slice of the pie.

At the end of March, Huawei introduced the Mate RS Porsche Design as its first phone with under-screen fingerprint sensor. Today, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has confirmed to Xiaomi fans that the Mi 7 will be equipped with in-screen fingerprint scanner.

Xiaomi has recently added Mi MIX 2S teardown images on its official Weibo account. One of the Weibo users posted a funny statement to it saying that the Xiaomi Mi 7 could be arriving with an under-display fingerprint scanner. The below screenshot shows that Jun responded to it by saying that it really does.

Recent reports have revealed that Xiaomi will be launching Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus flagship phones soon. The leaked firmware files of the Mi 7 have revealed plenty of information on its specs and features. However, the firmware files could not confirm whether the Mi 7 will feature an under-display fingerprint reader. So far, it has been revealed that the Mi 7 (codenamed as Dipper) may arrive with a notched display, Snapdragon 845, AI equipped 16-megapixel dual rear cameras, advanced facial recognition and 3,400mAh battery with wireless charging.

The leaked firmware files of Mi 7 Plus (codenamed as Ursa) suggest that it will be arriving with an under-display fingerprint sensor. There is a possibility that the advanced biometric recognition feature could be only restricted to Mi 7 Plus and the smaller Mi 7 may not feature it. The other rumored features of the Mi 7 Plus include OLED screen, Snapdragon 845, optical zoom enabled dual cameras and 4,000mAh battery.

After launching the Mi MIX 2S smartphone last month, China-based Xiaomi is now gearing up to launch its next-generation Mi-series smartphone — Mi 7. The upcoming flagship smartphone’s realistic renders have surfaced online, revealing the phone’s design and a few features.

The leaked renders of the smartphone show that the Mi 7 will feature a notch on top of the display, similar to the Apple iPhone X. Further, it suggests that the phone will come with an under display fingerprint sensor, a technology introduced in Vivo X21 UD and Vivo Apex.

In the leaked render, there’s no traditional fingerprint sensor on the phone’s back panel or front. Also, no fingerprint sensor seems to have been placed on the side edges. Thus, it seems that the phone will come with an in-display fingerprint reader. We are also expecting the phone to come with a Face Unlock feature.

Unlike its predecessor, the smartphone will come with a metal back instead of the glass back panel. If this turns out to be true, then the Mi 7 will lack wireless charging support. If the Xiaomi Mi 7 supports wireless charging, it will either have a glass or ceramic back.

The earlier rumor revealed that the Mi 7 will support 7.5W wireless charging that is also available on Apple iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X smartphones. The company’s recently launched smartphone — Mi MIX 2S also supports wireless charging.

On the back panel of the Mi 7, the camera module is placed on the top-right side. It has a dual camera setup, with both lenses stacked vertically. An LED flash is placed between both the camera sensors. At the center-bottom, there’s a Mi branding. The volume rocker and the power button are placed on the right side.

In an unusual move, Xiaomi’s first flagship for this year is not the main Mi series but a Mi MIX phone. The Mi MIX 2S is actually a more powerful version of the Mi MIX 2 with all the features we expect to find in the Mi 7 when it launches. A new render of the Mi 7 has surfaced online showing off a new design for the series.

In this render, the Mi 7 is shown with a notched display. This has not been confirmed but we won’t be surprised if Xiaomi goes through with it. The MIX series has kept to having its camera at the bottom right corner. If the Mi 7 will have a full-screen display too, adding a notch will make it different from the Mi MIX series and will result in the front camera returning to the top.

The render also shows that the phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner as there isn’t a scanner on the back of the device. We presume it will also have support for Face Unlock.

On the rear, the Mi 7 has dual cameras in the same design as that of the Mi MIX 2s. Surprisingly, the back of the device is metal and not glass. Xiaomi switched to glass starting with the Mi 5 and we don’t see it going back to metal. Plus if the Mi 7 is going to support wireless charging like the Mi MIX 2s, it will either have a glass or ceramic back.

However, Twitter user @FunkyHuawei had revealed vital information of the smartphone well ahead of its launch through its leaked firmware files to XDA Developers. Today, the same source has found key information on a mysterious upcoming Xiaomi flagship phone through its firmware files. According to the publication, the leaked firmware files may belong to the Xiaomi Mi 7 Plus.

The firmware files of the Xiaomi Mi 7 that had surfaced in the recent past had revealed that it would be arriving with a notched display like the iPhone X. It is rumored to be codenamed as Dipper. The publication claims that @FunkyHuawei has come across two firmware files that respectively belong to devices that are labelled as dipper and dipperold.

After scouring through firmware files of the two phones, it was revealed that only the dipperold features an in-screen fingerprint scanner from suppliers Synaptics and Goodix. The presence of “old” in dipperold label suggests that it could be the scrapped Mi 7 prototype. An XDA member has shared the following mock-up image of the mysterious Xiaomi phone that features a notch and an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

The publication claims that there is another smartphone that is codenamed as ursa that is packed with similar features like the dipper phone. It’s a flagship phone that features notch enabled OLED display, Snapdragon 845 chipset, optical zoom and 4,000mAh battery. The ursa phone also features Synaptics and Goodix in-screen fingerprint scanner.

Xiaomi is known for using constellation names as codenames for its Mi series phones. Like dipper, ursa too is a constellation name. Hence, there is a possibility that the Xiaomi ursa with in-screen fingerprint scanner could be the Mi 7 Plus that is speculated to debut alongside Mi 7. However, there is no direct evidence to prove that ursa will launch as Mi 7 Plus.

The publication claims that apart from dipper and ursa, there are some other Xiaomi phones that have come across through firmware file leaks. However, information on these upcoming phones will be revealed by XDA later on.

Rumors have it that the Mi 7 could be featuring an OLED display that will carry support for Always-On Display feature. Today, the publication has come across newer firmware files of the Mi 7 through which it is now known that it may feature a notch display, IR (Infrared Camera) sensor and a larger battery.

Xiaomi was expected to launch the Mi 7 as the first flagship phone of the year. Instead, the company will be launching the Snapdragon 845 Mi MIX 2S before the Mi 7 on March 27. The arrival of the Mi 7 has been reportedly delayed as the company wanted to bring some important changes on it. The new firmware files of the Mi 7 suggest that it will be arriving with a new design featuring a display notch like the iPhone X.

The notch of the iPhone X features Face ID sensor along with TrueDepth Camera that can unlock it or authenticate payments through 3D facial recognition. The new firmware files contain many references to a display notch within the MIUI Camera, MIUI System UI and MIUI Settings. The code for the notch that has been found in these apps are responsible for modifying the height of the status bar and hiding the ability to modify the icons for battery indicator and notification in status bar settings of MIUI.

The MIUI Keyguard app is an app associated with the lock screen and its related features. It contains a new method that is dubbed as openIRCamera. It could be related to Face Unlock feature of MUI. Hence, it is speculated that the IRCamera could refer to the Infrared Camera sensor. This indicates that like the iPhone X, the Xiaomi Mi 7 may support 3D facial scanning.

It is also rumored to be fueled by the same Snapdragon 845 chipset A mysterious Xiaomi device labelled as Xiaomi Dipper has appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform with SD845. Hence, it is speculated that the Xiaomi Mi 7 may have appeared as Xiaomi Dipper on Geekbench.

Xiaomi is known for using names of constellation for codenaming its Mi series of smartphones. For instance, the Mi 6, Mi 5S Plus, Mi 5S and Mi 5 were respectively codenamed as Sagit, Natrium, Capricorn and Gemini. Hence, the Dipper codename could refer to Big Dipper constellation. This indicates that Dipper phone that has surfaced on Geekbench could be the upcoming Mi 7.

As it can be seen in the screengrab of Xiaomi Dipper’s Geekbench listing, it is driven by Snapdragon 845 chipset along with 6 GB of RAM. It is running on Android 8.0 Oreo. In single-core test, it has scored 2449 whereas in multi-core test, it has reached a score of 8309. Previous reports have revealed that Qualcomm and Xiaomi have collaborated to optimize the performance of SD845 chipset. The Geekbench scores of the alleged Mi 7 suggest that it will be able to deliver monstrous performance.

The alleged firmware files of the Xiaomi Mi 7 have revealed that it may feature an OLED display that will also bring along Always-On Display function. A recent report had claimed that the handset may house a 6.01-inch OLED display by Samsung. It may feature an iPhone X-like notch and may also feature an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

Also, it is expected to arrive with support for 7.5W wireless charging like the iPhone X. It is speculated that Xiaomi may unveil the Mi 7 flagship in June this year.

Rumors are rife that the Mi 7 could be the first phone from Xiaomi to come with wireless charging feature. New information coming from China states that the Mi 7 will support 7.5W wireless charging that is also available on Apple iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X smartphones.

The smartphone is expected to feature wireless charging module from Integrated Device Technology (IDT) that is based in the U.S. The 7.5W wireless charging speed is half the speed of the newest Qi 1.2 standards.

Earlier today, Xiaomi confirmed it would release the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S on March 27. Now that we have a date for the official launch of the big flagship, we are left to wonder when we’ll meet Mi 6’s successor, the Xiaomi Mi 7. While we are still clueless about a release time frame for the device, some alleged images of the Xiaomi Mi 7 have just cropped up online.

The phone seems to have a premium design, featuring a full screen on the front and a reflective back. The front is actually quite interesting, as apart from the thin forehead on top of the phone that houses the sensors, rest of the design seems to be bezel-less. The corners are curved and the curve continues to the back as well to some extent. What we’ve got here is a metallic blue back which is highly reflective. To be honest, the back reminds me of the HTC U11+ but if you remember, Xiaomi too isn’t new to reflective back smartphones. The Xiaomi Mi 6 Silver Limited Edition came with one of the most reflective back designs we have seen lately and the company could have easily thought of continuing it to the Mi 7. The buttons are all located on the right side of the phone. The back has dual cameras arranged vertically with dual LED flash placed in between the two sensors.

This isn’t the first time we are seeing this design. If you remember, we have seen a few renders with exactly the same design a couple of months ago. The only difference here is that this is the real phone while those were just renders. This brings us to the big question, is this really the Xiaomi Mi 7? It’s hard to say. The icons on the front are not standard MIUI stuff. They look large and weird and are nothing like what we have seen on the MIUI platform. But there’s the Mi branding at the back and the design looks pretty premium. So, it could be the Xiaomi Mi 7, but we cannot be sure, so make sure to take them with a pinch of salt.

An unnamed high-level employee with Xiaomi had recently confirmed to Android Headlines that the company won’t be debuting the Xiaomi Mi 7 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. Recent leaks have revealed that the company may launch it in the month of April or May. However, the rumor mill is consistently spilling more information on the smartphone. Leaked firmware files of the Xiaomi Mi 7 that are exclusively available with XDA Developers have revealed some of its key features.

The firmware files have revealed that the Mi 7 is powered by Snapdragon 845 and it is running on Android 8.0 Oreo flavored with MIUI 9. It also carries support for Project Treble.

Rumors have claimed that the Mi 7 will be arriving with 6-inch OLED screen supplied by Samsung. Firmware files have revealed that the Mi 7 will be the first phone from the company to arrive with Always-On Display, a feature that is only on smartphones with OLED screens. It has been also found through the firmware files that the Mi 7 will come equipped with dual cameras like its predecessor.

The other features of the Mi 7 that have been leaked through its firmware files are real-time bokeh in camera app, Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), NFC. aptX and aptX HD Bluetooth audio codecs by Qualcomm and audio technology by Dirac.

The firmware files have revealed that the Mi 7 is packed with a 3,170mAh battery which is a bit smaller than 3,350mAh battery that powers the Mi 6. Even though there are some references of wireless charging in the different systems apps, it could not be confirmed whether the Mi 7 will carry support for wireless charging.

Rumors have claimed that it could be the first Xiaomi phone to arrive with wireless charging function. However, the publication claims that it came across an unidentified Xiaomi phone enabled with wireless charging support.

The device is also tipped to come with a resolution of 2880 x 1440pixels. Other accompanying details include a 6GB RAM variant as well as an 8GB RAM. The device is also tipped on the render to come with an in-display fingerprint sensor just as found on the Vivo X20 Plus UD version.

This suggests that it could be higher configuration model and there could be a lower configuration variant featuring 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. It includes a huge battery of 4,480mAh battery and it is loaded with MIUI 9 Developer ROM version 8.1.30x. At launch, it is expected to arrive with the stable edition of MIUI 9 flavored Android Nougat.

Xiaomi has confirmed to participate in the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The company is expected to launch its upcoming flagship phone — Xiaomi Mi 7 at the event.

While it is known that the company’s upcoming flagship phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor, nothing has been confirmed about the physical design aspects of the device.

Recently, a shady render of the phone appeared online through a Nigerian website, however, we couldn’t confirm if it was genuine or not. Now, a new render of the phone has appeared online, which is quite different from the earlier image.

The newly leaked render shows the phone with a bezel-less design, similar to what we saw on Xiaomi’s Mi MIX 2. The bezels are extremely thin on the three sides — left, right and bottom. However, the bezel is a bit thicker on the top side, mainly to house camera, earpiece and other sensors.

The back panel reveals that the phone will come with a dual camera setup and a dual-tone LED flash. The camera module has been placed on the top-left corner. There is also a fingerprint sensor placed at the top-centre position. At the bottom part, there’s Mi branding.

The recently leaked render suggested that the phone could have a glass back panel. This is in line with earlier reports which said that the phone is likely to come with Wireless Charging support — the first for the China-based smartphone manufacturer.

There are also reports making rounds which suggests that the Mi 7 will be the first device from Xioami to have Artificial Intelligence capabilities for the rear camera to offer stellar photography experience. According to the rumours, the phone will come with 6-inch AMOLED display with full-screen 18:9 aspect ratio.

The Xiaomi Mi 7 is said to come equipped monochrome + RGB dual camera system. It is likely to feature a 12-megapixel Sony IMX380 sensor and a 20-megapixel Sony IMX350 sensor. These renders show that the side bezels of the Xiaomi Mi 7 are almost non-existent. The lower bezel is also very slim while the upper bezel is slightly thick as it houses a hidden earpiece and selfie camera.

It features an elongated display that offers an aspect ratio of 18:9. It seems to offer a very high screen-to-body ratio. The rear design of the phone is similar to the Xiaomi Mi 6 as it features a curved glass panel.

The Xiaomi Mi 7 concept model has a vertically stacked dual camera setup that sits flush on the top-left corner of the back panel. These renders also show the Mi 7 concept in color variants like black, gray and blue.

Initial reports have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones that are speculated to launch in Q1 2018 will be the first Snapdragon 845 powered smartphones to arrive in the market. Qualcomm is holding its second Snapdragon technology summit from December 4 to 8 in the U.S state of Hawaii. There are rumours that the next-gen Snapdragon 845 processor will be announced during the summit. The news coming out of China is that Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun is in Hawaii to participate in the event. The tech Czar was spotted at an Airport in Hawaii thus fueling speculations that next year’s Mi 7 flagship will be the first Chinese model to have the SD 845 chip.

The Snapdragon 845 is expected to be manufactured using the 10nm FinFET process and would debut on the Samsung Galaxy S9 which may be launched at CES 2018. The LG G7 and Sony Xperia XZ2 are also expected to utilise the flagship chip. While on the domestic scene, Xiaomi is tipped to be the first OEM that would utilise the chip on the Mi 7. Recall that Xiaomi was the first to use the present Snapdragon 835 chip on its smartphone earlier this year. The likely specifications and prices of the next-gen Mi 7 flagship which Xiaomi is expected to release next year have now appeared online. The Xiaomi Mi 7 should be expected in the first quarter or early second quarter of 2018 and so it is not unexpected that details of the device have started to leak out.

The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL phones that were unveiled in the previous month also features squeezable frame for launching Google Assistant. Also, the newly launched HTC U11+ and U11 Life phones also carry the same Edge Sense feature. Fresh information suggests that Xiaomi could be working a smartphone that edge controls.

A Xiaomi Mi 5 user has found two hidden settings on his phone while checking activity shortcuts on Nova Launcher. The Mi 5 that he is using is running on MIUI 8.2.2. The two hidden controls can be found on the “Edge controls” menu. As the following snapshot shows, the feature allows users to touch/squeeze the sides of the phone to use edge controls. The feature can be used to go back or even snap a photo.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 that was launched in the previous year does not have sensors on its edges. This suggests that Xiaomi could be working on a smartphone that may carry support for this feature.

The South Korean company has recently announced that its 8nm FinFET LPP process is now ready for production. The company is expected to introduce 7nm EUV (Extreme Ultra Violet) lithography technology in the second half of 2018. Rumors have it that the Galaxy S9 duo will be also available in Exynos 9810 chipset models.  The new chipset that is expected to arrive with AI capabilities is rumored to be built with 7nm or 8nm process.

As far as Snapdragon 845 is concerned, it is speculated to arrive with updated Kryo cores. Its enhanced Adreno graphics is expected to be optimized for AR, VR and XR. The Kirin 970 chipset that powers the new Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro smartphones is coupled with a neural processing unit (NPU) for handling AI capabilities. The neural engine processing cores from the Apple A11 Bionic chipset is meant to handle machine learning algorithms on the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X. In 2018, most of the flagship phones from various smartphone OEMs are expected to feature the Snapdragon 845 chipset. Also, the 2018 flagship phones like Samsung Galaxy S9 and Xiaomi Mi 7 are expected to come with features like full-screen design and 3D face recognition. A Chinese leakster has revealed that the initial stock of the Snapdragon 845 will be reserved by Samsung for Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ flagship phones.

In July, when Qualcomm had filed a complaint with International Trade Commission against Apple, the documents submitted by U.S. based chip maker contained some references of the forthcoming Snapdragon 845 chipset. The alleged successor of the Snapdragon 835, the Snapdragon 845 is expected to be a 7nm chipset that is likely to feature an octa-core processor and Adreno 630 chipset. It may get announced later this year or early next year. The mass production of the Snapdragon is pegged to begin in 2018.

Since the Samsung had struck a deal with Qualcomm this year to get the initial stock of the Snapdragon 835 chipset for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones, other Snapdragon 835 powered smartphones to could not release the Galaxy S8. Rumors from previous year had claimed that the LG G6 would be flagship phone featuring Snapdragon 835. However, since it had released before the Galaxy S8, it came with Snapdragon 821 chipset.

A Chinese leaker has claimed that Samsung has entered a deal with the U.S. based chip maker to get the starting stock of the Snapdragon 845 for the Galaxy S9 duo. This indicates that other flagship phones from other brands are unlikely to release in the market with Snapdragon 845 before the official announcement of the Galaxy S9 and S9+. The alleged Samsung Galaxy S9 has already appeared on Geekbench with Snapdragon 845. The Xiaomi Mi 7 could become the first Chinese flagship to arrive with Snapdragon 845 chipset.

In related news, a report that had surfaced in June had claimed that the LG V30 may get announced at the end of August which has become true as the South Korean company has confirmed to debut the LG V30 on Aug. 31. The report had also claimed that the LG G7 may get announced in January 2018 possibly through the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) or Mobile World Congress (MWC) that will be held within the first quarter of the coming year. It indicates that the LG G7 may debut well before the Galaxy S9 duo, but may not feature the Snapdragon 845. However, there are some contradicting rumors that claim LG and Qualcomm too have partnered make sure that the LG G7 also gets the starting stock of the SD 845 and launch as the ultimate flagship of 2018.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is barely three months old and already we have started seeing renders of the next generation Mi-series smartphone which should be the Xiaomi Mi 7. A newly released video shows us a fan’s idea of the concept design of the Mi 7, which most likely should be launched early next year. As stated, this isn’t an official render of the Mi 7 but a concept design by a third-party concept designer.

Taking a closer look at the design, the phone features a nicely designed, bezel-less display but retains the metal body covered with glass that was used in the Mi 6. The video shows a device that has a flat display instead of a curved one but there won’t bezels at all four sides. For one minute, you might think this is the MI Mix 2 render but it isn’t.

The rear design, however, shows some curvature and there is a dual camera setup, which is not surprising, considering dual cameras are the rave of the moment. The dual camera setup also has a dual-tone LED flash located on the left side of the cameras. There are capacitive keys on the right side of the phone. The concept designer gives the Mi 7 a 16MP rear sensor apiece, with both OIS and PDAF. The phone also comes with a 16MP front camera and an iris scanner located upfront.

The Xiaomi Mi 7 (if it will be called that) will most likely not feature a design similar to this one but if it does, it won’t be a bad idea.
