Both models fall under Google&#8217;s Android One programme and that has made them quite attractive to Mi fans outside China. That is because not only are the devices running pure Android OS, they offer consistent user experience. However, for some users of the Xiaomi Mi A2, the experience has not been so friendly. There are reports of massive battery drain which is apparently caused by a bug.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Lite_5-e1532756483100.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-203548" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Lite_5-e1532756483100.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="800" height="506" /></a></p>
<p>The battery drain occurs because all the CPU cores run consistently pegged at max speeds, but what causes it isn&#8217;t known exactly. However, there is a consensus among most of those affected that the battery drain could be as a result of some bug that affects the fingerprint sensor. This may not be the cause as some users still report the problem persists despite removing all the stored fingerprints.</p>

<p>Some users have detected a quick fix and that is by rebooting the device every hour or two. This sure isn&#8217;t a permanent fix as the problem still surfaces after a couple of hours. Other suggested fixes like deleting Google Play Services and factory reset have also been unsuccessful in fixing the issue. Unfortunately, a fix might not be coming from Xiaomi anytime soon, though. The Mi developer team is yet to acknowledge this as a bug. That is perhaps because the issue doesn&#8217;t affect all Mi A2 users, including those who have multiple fingerprints stored on the device.</p>

Ahead of that launch, some more details of the device have emerged which points to a slight variation from the model announced in Spain a few days back. According to Android Central, the Mi A2 will have support for Quick Charge 4.0 exclusively in India. The device was announced with Quick Charge 3.0 which is the same fast charge technology available on last year&#8217;s Mi A1.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/mi-a2-1.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-203165" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/mi-a2-1.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi A2" width="728" height="546" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/mi-a2-1.jpg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/mi-a2-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/mi-a2-1-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></a></p>
<p>The reason for this exclusiveness was not disclosed but the device will still ship packing a regular 5V/2A charger and not a QC4.0 charger. Buyers who would like to take advantage of this feature will need to shop for a third-party wall charger with QC3.0/4.0 support. It should be noted, though, that there are few wall chargers with such specifications in the market.</p>

<p>The decision to give India Quick Charge 4.0 could be a deal breaker for Xiaomi as there are few models at the Mi A2&#8217;s price point with QC 4.0 support. In the long run, it could help the Mi A2 sales in one of the world&#8217;s largest markets.</p>

The popularity of the Mi A2 is traceable to the successful run of the Mi A1 which came out as Xiaomi&#8217;s first and only phone running stock Android. Xiaomi Mi A2 has now joined that train and along with it comes a new Mi A2 Lite.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/xiaomi-mi-a2-2.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-202856" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/xiaomi-mi-a2-2-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi A2" width="640" height="360" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/xiaomi-mi-a2-2-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/xiaomi-mi-a2-2-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/xiaomi-mi-a2-2-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/xiaomi-mi-a2-2.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>When the dust generated by the launch finally settles, the next question would be the availability of both models. The Chinese company did not leave us in doubt as to the global availability of the models. According to details released by the firm, the Mi A2 will be available in 39 different countries cutting across six different regions of the world while the Mi A2 Lite will only be available in 36 different countries. The three countries where the Mi A2 Lite won&#8217;t be available are in the Asia Pacific and they include India, Taiwan and Hong Kong.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/xiaomi-mi-a2.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-202855" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/xiaomi-mi-a2-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi A2 lite" width="640" height="360" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/xiaomi-mi-a2-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/xiaomi-mi-a2-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/xiaomi-mi-a2-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/xiaomi-mi-a2.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-202544" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/MI-A2-LITE-GIZMOCHINA-1-1.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="728" height="378" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/MI-A2-LITE-GIZMOCHINA-1-1.jpg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/MI-A2-LITE-GIZMOCHINA-1-1-300x156.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></p>
<p>On July 24 which is just a day from now, the Chinese OEM would be <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/12/xiaomi-mi-a2-may-launch-through-july-24-global-launch-event/">holding an event in Spain</a>, and the Xiaomi Mi A2 alongside a new Mi A2 Lite variant would be launched.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/MI-A2-LITE-GIZMOCHINA-1.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-202543" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/MI-A2-LITE-GIZMOCHINA-1.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="728" height="296" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/MI-A2-LITE-GIZMOCHINA-1.jpg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/MI-A2-LITE-GIZMOCHINA-1-300x122.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong>Related: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/12/xiaomi-mi-a2-may-come-in-a-lite-variant-with-more-affordable-price/">Xiaomi Mi A2 will come in a Lite variant with a more affordable price</a></strong></p>
<p>Interestingly the launch date didn&#8217;t stop the online stores in placing the device up for sale and so far, the Chinese and UK store offers the best deal in terms of price tags on the device. Both stores indicated that the 4GB/64GB memory configuration is available for grabs with UK eGlobal Central attaching a price tag of £209.99 ($276) (13% down) while Banggood the Chinese online store is offering the product for as low as $229.99 with 15% off. But it turned fans loved the idea of having a Mi phone running stock Android. The Mi A1 was Xiaomi&#8217;s first Android One phone. The company is expected to launch the Mi A2 any moment from now. The device is expected to have the same design and specification as the Mi A2 except that it would run Android Oreo.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/mi-a2.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-199919" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/mi-a2.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi A2" width="600" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/mi-a2.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/mi-a2-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/mi-a2-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>A recently<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/05/leaked-photo-shows-about-phone-of-xiaomi-mi-a2/"> leaked &#8220;About phone&#8221; page</a> coupled with its NCC listing had shown the Mi A2 is already around the corner. The &#8220;about phone&#8221; page confirms that the device will run on Android 8.1 which should be under the Android One program. A sample photo shot by the device has now been spotted online. The picture was shared by a user on the MIUI community in Spain and from the photograph&#8217;s EXIF data, it could be seen that the nice photo was indeed shot by the Xiaomi Mi A2.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/mi-a2-2.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-199920" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/mi-a2-2.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi A2" width="435" height="658" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/mi-a2-2.jpg 435w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/mi-a2-2-198x300.jpg 198w" sizes="(max-width: 435px) 100vw, 435px" /></a></p>

<p>Since the device has the same configuration with the Mi 6X, it is no surprise that camera sample is of awesome quality. The device packs a 20MP + 12MP rear camera with AI capabilities while at the front is a 20MP selfie shooter. This aspect might see some changes considering the Redmi Note 5 camera configuration is different from that of India&#8217;s Redmi Note 5 Pro. However, the Mi A2 will have a 5.99-inch display, 3101mAh battery and should be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor. Since this is the same SoC on the Mi A1, we might see something else onboard, perhaps the Snapdragon 710 chipset.</p>
