Xiaomi has unveiled its latest big battery, phablet-sized smartphone for the Taiwanese market. The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 hits Taiwan barely a month after it was launched in China. The launch event also saw the company unveil the Mi Band 3 smart wearable for the local market. The Taiwan launch is believed to signal the global launch of the model which is eagerly awaited by fans of the Mi brand in love with its large size, big battery and affordable pricing.

Indeed, the Mi Max 3 is affordable as its Taiwan pricing is consistent with the one announced in China. It adopts a price tag of NTW$7,999 (~$260) for the 4GB + 64GB version and you’ll agree this is a bang for buck offer. The device is expected to be available in Taiwan on August 30 via Xiaomi Home, Xiaomi store, Mi.com and PCHome. While the Star of Taiwan will start selling the model on September 1.

As a reminder, the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 sports a 6.9-inch 18:9 display and is powered by an SD636 chip. The chip is based on 14nm process technology. It uses Kryo 260 architecture, octa-core design,  while the CPU frequency is 1.8GHz. The GPU is an Adreno 509 GPU whose performance is not much different from Snapdragon 660. The Max 3 equally comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There is also a 6GB + 128GB version but that wasn’t made available in Taiwan. The phone gets its juice from a massive 5500mAh battery and despite the big battery the device isn’t too heavy. The 18:9 aspect ratio also ensures one-handed operation is possible and easier than on previous models.
