Xiaomi has been slow to upgrade most of its smartphones to Android 10-based MIUI 11. Even though the company has released the latest MIUI 11 for all eligible models, most of them are still stuck on Android 9. In a few cases where Android 10 updates have been announced, it has been enmeshed in one issue or the other which has sometimes resulted in the rollback of the update.

In a surprising move, the Chinese tech giant has now released Android 10-based MIUI 11 Global OTA update for the Mi Max 3 and Mi 8 Lite. The Mi Max 3 only got Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 11 update in March and now this. The Mi 8 Lite had earlier received Android 10 based MIUI 11 update for the China Beta ROM back in December. So, the global OTA was expected since then.

The update ushers in MIUI V11.0.1.0.QEDMIXM for the Mi Max 3 while the Mi 8 Lite brings MIUI V11.0.1.0.QDTMIXM. Both updates bring along the February 2020 Android security patches. These updates will likely be the last for both models. The Mi Max 3 may also be the last Mi Max model that Xiaomi will release, as per previous reports.

Xiaomi has already invested in 220 companies via different crowdfunding platform out of them 100 are purely smart hardware-centric companies. Undoubtedly, this proves that Xiaomi is eager to invest in the AI and IoT technologies via different means.

Xiaomi also ushered some showers on its achievements like reaching 34 million Xiaomi AI active users mark. The Chinese smartphone company has also sold more than 132 million devices incorporated with IoT technology in the third quarter, 2018. Due to the positive environment regarding new technologies and a good number of sales, many corporate houses have partnered with Xiaomi in the past. In the last quarter, Xiaomi raked 10.805 trillion yuan which is 89% percent increased compared to the previous year. It has led the company to gain 29 billion Yuan in the whole year until now.

Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has a better dual camera setup on its rear side, which boasts a brighter aperture as well as a better autofocus system. But it remains a midrange-class camera department and it is nothing special.

Personally, at least when it comes to big phablets, I do not care a lot about design, so I would pick the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 because of its better camera and bigger battery. But if you love the look and you want the best performance, get a unit of Huawei Enjoy Max.

It even has a waterdrop notch which only contains the front camera, as well as a thin chin. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is the classic full metal unibody device, so it is not anything special.

Display

On these devices, you will find two IPS LCD displays with an average viewing quality but a huge diagonal. Both are Full HD+ displays, but Honor 8X Max has a taller screen with a notch, while Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is larger and it does not have a notch. Given the marginal difference in viewing quality, it is all about tastes: choose Honor 8X Max if you prefer a taller display with fewer bezels or choose the Mi Max 3 if you hate the notch and you want less black borders while watching videos.

Same hardware, with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset and up to 6 GB of RAM. However, there is a small difference: Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is available in a configuration with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, while to have 128 GB on the Honor 8X Max, you have to choose a configuration with 4 GB of RAM. While Honor 8X Max has the EMUI installed, Xiaomi Mi Max 3 comes with MIUI. It is a draw and it is again about tastes.

Camera

Talking about the camera department, I prefer the Xiaomi Mi Max 3. It has a dual camera setup on the back with the primary sensor borrowed from the Mi 8 and with a brighter aperture. It can click very nice photos in most of the light conditions, even though it is far from flagships.

Battery

Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has a slightly bigger battery than Honor 8X Max, with 500 mAh more. And it can provide a longer battery life thanks to the bigger capacity and the wonderful Xiaomi’s optimization on its devices. Both support a fast-charging technology.

Price

In China, Honor 8X Max is priced €190 for the base variant (4/64 GB), while Xiaomi Mi Max 3 carries a price tag of €220. I choose Xiaomi Mi Max 3 as the winner of the comparison as it has a better camera and a bigger battery, and I do not care about having the best design on a so big phablet. But if you do, you are free to disagree with me and choose its opponent as it is very close in terms of specs and performance.

Viewing quality is not so different in each handset, they all pack a midrange-class LCD panel, so do not expect great surprises.

Specs & Software

Same hardware side for each handset, with the Snapdragon 635 chipset and up to 6 GB of RAM depending on the chosen variant. But there is an important difference in the software: as the name suggests, Motorola One Power is powered by Android One, a stock version of Google’s operating system focused on performance and updates, with no customizations. With this device, you would get great performance as well as faster and constant updates for years. So it wins this section of the comparison.

Camera

Unfortunately, we still can not test the camera performance of Motorola One Power as it was launched yesterday. But one thing is sure after reading the specs on the paper: Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 is not at the level of its opponent. Even though we did not test it, on the paper Motorola One Power has the best camera department.

Battery

As mentioned above, the battery is the strongest point of each of these handsets. While the first twos feature a monster 5000 mAh unit, the third has an even bigger 5500 mAh (but note that it also has way bigger dimensions). They can all provide up to two days of battery life with a stressed use, but we believe that Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has the longest battery life.

Price

The price of Motorola One Power starts from just $218, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 was launched for a starting price of $217 and Xiaomi Mi Max carried a launch price tag of $250 in the base configuration. Motorola One Power wins the comparison with its design, Android One support and better camera, but if you like phablets and comfortable phones, go for the Xiaomi Mi Max 3.

Xiaomi has finally pulled off the chords and has teased the Mi Max 3 for the launch in India. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is the manufacturer’s largest phone with the 6.9-inch of immersive display and gigantic 5500 mAh battery on the back. It is quite big than the Mi Max 2 and the Mi Max debut variant which was launched with 6.44 inches display and 4850 mAh battery couple of years ago.

A recent tweet from the Xiaomi hints that the Mi Max 3 is on its way to India. Well, Xiaomi has not clearly stated that the launch is happening in India but has given a hint. It is expected to arrive in India with the price range of Rs 20000 (~Yuan 1893 /$275).

Xiaomi has unveiled its latest big battery, phablet-sized smartphone for the Taiwanese market. The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 hits Taiwan barely a month after it was launched in China. The launch event also saw the company unveil the Mi Band 3 smart wearable for the local market. The Taiwan launch is believed to signal the global launch of the model which is eagerly awaited by fans of the Mi brand in love with its large size, big battery and affordable pricing.

Indeed, the Mi Max 3 is affordable as its Taiwan pricing is consistent with the one announced in China. It adopts a price tag of NTW$7,999 (~$260) for the 4GB + 64GB version and you’ll agree this is a bang for buck offer. About a month ago, Xiaomi launched the next-generation Mi Max smartphone — Mi Max 3. The phone was launched in three color options — Black Stone, Dream Gold, and Deep Sea Blue. Until now, only Black and Gold color variants were available for purchase in China.

Now, from today onwards, the Deep Sea Blue color variant of the Xiami Mi Max 3 will also be available for purchase in China. The first sale of the Mi Max 3 Blue variant will take place today. The company had already started taking pre-orders a couple of days ago. The 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant will be available for 1,999 yuan, which roughly converts to $290.

Coming to the specifications, the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 features a huge 6.9-inch Full HD+ display 2160 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio, which offers a screen-to-body ratio 85.19 percent. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor which the company claims to provide 40 percent better performance than Mi Max 2’s SD625 SoC.

The AnTuTu score of the latest Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has just been shared. Well, this is just a screenshot of the Mi Max 3 interface running AnTuTu app. The benchmark app shows the Xiaomi model picked up a score of 118,741 points which isn’t far off from the average AnTuTu score of Snapdragon 660 models (around 130,000 points). It should be noted that this score is slightly higher than those racked up by other Snapdragon 636-powered models like the Redmi Note 5 with a score of 115,247 points and Meizu E3 with a score of 112478 points. 

Dissecting the score, the Mi Max 3’s CPU polled 55,879 points, while the GPU score is 21,313.  The UX score is 32,744 and finally, the Memory score is 8805 point. Thus, apart from packing a large display, the Max 3 equally has a dependable processor that can handle the needs of most users, including some bit of heavy gaming.

As a reminder, the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 sports a 6.9-inch 18:9 display and is powered by an SD636 chip. The chip is based on 14nm process technology. This looks pretty impressive as you get an 85.19% screen-to-body ratio. That is one large screen size to watch videos and the split-screen feature would look good on it. Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its upcoming smartphone — Mi Max 3, which is the third-generation phone in the company’s Mi Max series. Now, ahead of the phone’s launch in China on 19th July, Xiaomi President Lin Bin has shared the phone’s renders and some key specifications.

The images shared by Lin Bin reveals that the smartphone will be available in three color options — Black, Gold, and Blue. He further revealed that the phone features a 6.9-inch full screen display and is said to come with Full HD+ display and 18:9 aspect ratio.

On the back side, there’s a dual camera setup with sensors placed vertically and the module placed at the top-left corner. In the top-center part, there’s a fingerprint sensor for added security. The smartphone also retain the 3.5mm headphone jack.

While sharing details about the Mi Max 3, Xiaomi President Lin Bin said that while the phone comes with a large screen, it doesn’t feel very big. He further added that the smartphone comes with super battery life which will be helpful to those who use their device for a long time.

Earlier, the Mi Max 3’s retail box was leaked online, which confirmed that the smartphone comes powered by Qualcomm‘s recently launched Snapdragon 636 processor. It also revealed that the phone will come with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The dual camera setup on the back consists of a 12MP + 5MP setup and an 8MP front-facing shooter.

Despite being mainly an Asian company, Xiaomi managed to become one of the five best smartphone manufacturers in the world during the past couple of years. Recently, the EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission) has certified five upcoming devices from the Chinese giant. The fact that they have been certified by the Eurasian Economic Commission means that all of these five handsets will land in Europe.

The devices certified by the EEC are Xiaomi Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite, Mi Max 3, Mi 8 and POCOPHONE. We already reported the certification of Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite and Mi 8, while Mi Max 3 and POCOPHONE are new on the list. The first will officially debut on July 24 and probably its Lite variant will join it in the same presentation event. It will be the successor of the first device by the company with Android One installed. It will have the same specifications as the Mi 6X (recently launched in China with prices going from $253 to $316) with Android One instead of the MIUI as the main difference. So we should get a notchless display with a 5.99-inch size and a Full HD+ resolution, as well as a Snapdragon 660 SoC by Qualcomm paired with 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 32, 64 or 128 GB of internal storage without an expansion slot.

Two days ago, a leaked video showing the Black version of the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 surfaced online. After that one, another video showing the Gold variant has popped up as well. In this video, we can see the design of the upcoming phablet way better than in the other one thanks to the lighter hue. For this handset, Xiaomi has decided not to opt for the most premium design. It features a classic full metal unibody design with a circular fingerprint reader placed on the back, while the antenna bands are U-shaped and placed along the upper and the lower border.

The rear side of the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 also houses a dual camera setup placed in a vertical configuration with a LED flash in the middle like the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The front side is white and it includes a tall display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and no notch. Bezels are not so narrow and the screen-to-body ratio is similar to the one of the Redmi Note 5/5 Pro. But unlike those ones, this device will be the biggest phablet from the Chinese giant. Just like the other video, a sticker placed on the display shows some of the main specs of the device.

Ahead of the phone’s official launch, the LCD screen assembly of the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has been listed online on Alibaba, which gives us a look at the display of the upcoming device. From the image, it’s clear that the phone won’t be featuring a notch on top of the display but will have a full-screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio.

The TENAA listing reveals that the Mi Max 3 measures 176.15 x 87.4 x 7.99mm and is a bit hefty device as it weighs 221 grams. The device features a massive 6.9-inch display that supports a Full HD+ screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels along with an aspect ratio of 18:9.

Under the hood, the handset is powered by an octa-core processor that clocks at 1.8 GHz processor which is expected to be Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 636 SoC. It will have up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage with support for storage expansion using a microSD card.

According to the reports, along with the Mi Max 3, the Chinese manufacturer could also come up with an advanced model of Mi Max 3 that will be powered by the recently launched Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor.

The firmware files related to the phone have revealed that it will be arriving a with dual camera setup. The TENAA listing reveals that at least one of the camera sensors lying on the back of the Mi Max 3 will be of 12-megapixel. However, several reports have indicated that the Chinese manufacturer will be launching its flagship smartphone of the year — Mi 7, as well as the Mi 8th Anniversary Edition smartphone which has appeared on Mi Community Forum in China as well Chinese Mi Store. Further, the company is also expected to launch the next-generation fitness band — Mi Band 3.

Along with these products, there were speculations that the company could also launch the Mi Max 3, given that Xiaomi had launched Mi Max 2 in the month of May. However, responding to a question on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said that the Mi Max 3 is estimated to be released in July this year.

According to the previous reports, the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is expected to come with a 6.99-inch Full HD+ display and a huge battery of 5,500mAh capacity that may be enabled with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. Also, it is likely to support Qi wireless charging and the device is also speculated to feature iris scanner for added security.

Rumors surrounding the phone also suggest that it will come equipped with dual rear cameras and it may not feature a 3.5mm audio jack. Recently, a couple of images of the TPU case of the Mi Max 3 surfaced on the Chinese Alibaba website, hinting at the presence of dual rear cameras.

The Mi Max 3 could come in two variants — the base model with Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 636, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and the higher model packing Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

The back panel of the Mi Max 3 is expected to feature Sony IMX363 or an S5K217+S5K5E8 Samsung dual camera module. On the front side, the phone may feature S6K4H7 Samsung sensor and OmniVision OV2281 iris scanner. The leaked firmware files suggest that the device is running on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box.

With Mi Max 3 out of the way, the company could launch Mi 7, Mi 8th Anniversary Edition smartphone and the Mi Band 3 at the Shenzhen launch event. Being the flagship smartphone, both Mi 7 and Mi 8th Anniversary Edition phone are expected to pack Snapdragon 845 processor.

Xioami’s 8th Anniversary smartphone is also said to be carrying 3D structured light face recognition and screen fingerprint recognition. If this turns out to be true, then it will be the first Android model to use 3D structured light face recognition.

Plenty of details of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S and Mi 7 flagship phones have been revealed through their firmware files in the recent past. Today, XDA Developers has revealed some of the key specs and features of the forthcoming Xiaomi Mi Max 3 mid-range phablet through its firmware files.

The first-generation Mi Max came with a 4,850mAh battery and the Mi Max 2 came with a bigger battery of 5,300mAh capacity. The firmware files of Mi Max 3 have revealed that it will be arriving with a behemoth battery of 5,500mAh capacity.

The Snapdragon 660 chipset will be powering the Mi Max 3. The original Mi Max came in Snapdragon 650 and 652 chipset variants. Hence, there is a possibility that the Mi Max 3 may also in arrive Snapdragon 630 chipset option, but there is no supporting evidence for it in its firmware files.

As rumors have claimed, the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will indeed feature an 18:9 aspect ratio display. However, there is no confirmation on its exact size and the resolution that it will be supporting. It is a safe bet to assume that it will carry support for FHD+ resolution. It will be equipped with a rear positioned fingerprint scanner.

The firmware files of Mi Max 3 have references for wireless charging. For instance, there are some strings in the APK of MIUI Keyguard that contains text like “wireless charging has stopped”, “position offset” and “please reposition.”

Xiaomi had joined the Wireless Power Consortium last year which indicates that some of the phones from the company that will be released this year will carry support for Qi wireless charging. The first phone to feature it could be the Mi 7 and the next one could be the Mi Max 3. A help video and graphic on how to place the handset on the charging base for wireless charging has been also found in the firmware files. A demo image showing a generic device placed on wireless charging been has been also unearthed.

The back panel of the Mi Max 3 is expected to feature Sony IMX363 or an S5K217+S5K5E8 Samsung dual camera module. The frontside of the phone features S6K4H7 Samsung sensor and OmniVision OV2281 iris scanner. Since the lines related to iris recognition have been commented out, the company seems to be still deciding on adding this feature on Mi Max 3.

The firmware files suggest that the device is running on Android 8.1 Oreo. However, it could be a developer ROM. It may probably launch with Nougat flavored MUI 9. The other features that will be arriving on the Mi Max 3 include dual-SIM support, microSD card slot, IR blaster, LED light for alerts, aptX and aptX HD Bluetooth audio codecs by Qualcomm. The device lacks NFC connectivity. Lastly, it may feature dual speakers.

There is no information available on the launch date of Mi Max 3. Judging by the launch patterns of the predecessor models, it seems that the new phablet may get unveiled in May.

Xiaomi is yet to reveal its total shipments for 2017 but we know the tech company did well in terms of its total revenue. Last year saw Xiaomi releasing a number of new models and one of those was the Mi Max 2 phablet. The Mi Max 2 is about to get a successor in the Mi Max 3 and the photo of the device has appeared in a new leak.

The leaked photo is that of the rear panel and it looks very much like the Max 2 when viewed from the rear. The major difference is that the Mi Max 3 packs a dual rear camera setup which is located at the top left corner. The device also packs a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, perhaps due to the full-screen design expected to reign up front. One wonders how a rear fingerprint sensor can be easily accessed in a phablet-sized device.

Apart from the design, the leak also shed some light on the expected specs of the Xiaomi Mi Max 3. Top of the list is the presence of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 premium midrange chipset. An earlier leak had mentioned the Mi Max 3 as coming with a Snapdragon 835 flagship chip but that isn’t likely the case. The Mi Max 2 came with a Snapdragon 625 chipset. An upgrade to a Snapdragon 660 is adequate to still make it an affordable mid-ranger. The leak also reveals that the Mi Max 3 would run on MIUI 9 out of the box which is expected. In addition, the device will be priced at 1,000 Yuan and we can’t help going ballistic over this one. It is very much unlikely! The Mi Max 3 should come with a price hovering around 1,500 Yuan ($233)/ 1,600 Yuan ($249). Further, the Mi Max 3 would feature a 6.99-inch fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) display, along with 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of native storage, which will probably be expandable. The phone will probably also be equipped with two SIM card slots, while it will likely be fueled by a 5,500mAh non-removable battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.

Th dual camera setup at the rear consists of two 12MP sensors while at the front will be a 5MP selfie camera. One other aspect the Mi Max 3 is expected to be markedly different from its predecessor is the display design. The device is expected to feature thinner bezels just like the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus. A set of renders were also released to give an idea of how the Mi Max 3 would look up front.  We can’t say if Xiaomi will be adopting such design for the Max 3.In addition, there’s no word yet on the launch date but that may not happen until mid-2018. So, we’ll be on the lookout for more details of the device.

Xiaomi is soon expected to launch Mi Max 3, a successor of its Mi Max 2 phablet. Previously, we reported that the phone could come with a massive 7-inch full-screen display. Now it seems that the massive tablet-like display has been confirmed.

The Mi Max 3’s specification sheet has emerged online through Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, which also reveals that the phone will feature a massive 6.99-inch full-screen design with 18:9 aspect ratio. Xiaomi jumped the full-screen bandwagon last month with the launch of its Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus.

Other specifications of the Mi Max 3 include a 12-megapixel rear camera sensor and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for taking selfies and making video calls. However, the leaked design of the phone reveals that there will be a dual-camera setup at the back.

There will be two variants based on the memory configuration — 3GB RAM with 64GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 128GB internal storage. The phone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 635 processor. However, there’s another report that suggests that the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor.

The Snapdragon 635 processor from Qualcomm is believed to be the successor of Snapdragon 625 processor, and is manufactured with 14 nm process technology and will feature an octa-core Kryo processor. The GPU on the chipset is also expected to be 20 percent more powerful as compared to its predecessor.

The Mi Max 3 is said to be fuelled by a 5,500mAh battery, which will also support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology as well as reverse charging. While there are no details available about the software used, we are expecting the phablet to run Android Nougat based MIUI 9.

The latest leak suggests that the phone will be launched in June this year. As of the pricing, the phone will start retailing at 1,699 Yuan, which roughly converts to $264.

Xiaomi’s Mi Max phablet, which was launched in the year 2016 became a popular device, especially among the multimedia users. This year, the company launched its successor, dubbed as Mi Max 2 with upgraded specifications. Now, according to the latest reports, the company is now working on the Mi Max 3.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will reportedly come with major upgrades to keep the devices in line with the current trends. The phone is expected to come with an even bigger display size of 7-inch. While there are no details available about the software used, we are expecting the phablet to run Android Nougat based MIUI 9. Looking at the past launch dates, we are expecting this Mi Max 3 to launch in the middle of the next year.
