Even though the company has released the latest MIUI 11 for all eligible models, most of them are still stuck on Android 9. In a few cases where Android 10 updates have been announced, it has been enmeshed in one issue or the other which has sometimes resulted in the rollback of the update.

In a surprising move, the Chinese tech giant has now released Android 10-based MIUI 11 Global OTA update for the Mi Max 3 and Mi 8 Lite. The Mi Max 3 only got Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 11 update in March and now this. The Mi 8 Lite had earlier received Android 10 based MIUI 11 update for the China Beta ROM back in December. So, the global OTA was expected since then.

The update ushers in MIUI V11.0.1.0.QEDMIXM for the Mi Max 3 while the Mi 8 Lite brings MIUI V11.0.1.0.QDTMIXM. Both updates bring along the February 2020 Android security patches. These updates will likely be the last for both models. The Mi Max 3 may also be the last Mi Max model that Xiaomi will release, as per previous reports.

They have built dedicated teams for the development of these new technologies. Recently, we have got news that they are building up new headquarters in Wuhan to do development and research on AI. Today, speaking at AIOT Developer Conference, Lei Jun has emphasized on the latest technologies.

Speaking to folks over at the Conference, Lei Jun explained the importance of AI and IoT along with their impact on the future. Further, he explained the strategic layout of the two core business of Xiaomi AI and IoT at the conference.

Xiaomi IKEA Partnership

As leaked, Xiaomi has partnered with IKEA, a furniture giant in the US. IKEA has partnered with Xiaomi to make smart homes, furniture, etc. Right Now, IKEA intelligent home lightning products are getting Xiaomi IoT platform in December. Currently, the details regarding the new cooperation have not yet surfaced, but we expect some details to surface before the day ends. Xiaomi has already invested in 220 companies via different crowdfunding platform out of them 100 are purely smart hardware-centric companies. Undoubtedly, this proves that Xiaomi is eager to invest in the AI and IoT technologies via different means.

Xiaomi Stats

Xiaomi also ushered some showers on its achievements like reaching 34 million Xiaomi AI active users mark. The Chinese smartphone company has also sold more than 132 million devices incorporated with IoT technology in the third quarter, 2018. Due to the positive environment regarding new technologies and a good number of sales, many corporate houses have partnered with Xiaomi in the past. In the last quarter, Xiaomi raked 10.805 trillion yuan which is 89% percent increased compared to the previous year. It has led the company to gain 29 billion Yuan in the whole year until now.

Xiaomi has stood as the largest IoT platform in the world with sales of over 1.7% consumer goods. It is significantly double than to that of Apple’s 0.9%, Google’s 0.6% and Amazon’s 0.9%.

Well, it seems Xiaomi is on right track, they are investing rightly in the new technologies which are leading them to new partnerships with other business giants.

Design

Huawei Enjoy Max and Honor 8X Max are exactly the same devices when it comes to the aesthetics. Indeed, the former is almost a renamed variant of the latter with only slight differences in the hardware side. This said, these two handsets have a superior design to Xiaomi Mi Max 3 thanks to a glass back, a waterdrop notch and a higher screen-to-body ratio. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has a full metal unibody design which is surely more resistant to drops, but also way uglier.

Display

With all of these handsets, you get a huge but midrange-class display. Whatever you choose, you will have more or less the same viewing quality as well as the same level of detail. The display of Honor 8X Max and Huawei Enjoy Max is a bit taller while the one of Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is larger. Further, Honor 8X Max and Enjoy Max have a waterdrop notch, while Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is notchless but it has thicker bezels.

Specs & Software

Huawei Enjoy Max is the most powerful device of the trio. It sports an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset paired with up to 6 GB of RAM, while its opponents both have a less powerful but very efficient Snapdragon 636. So, if you live in China and you want the best performance you are lucky, as Huawei Enjoy Max is only available there for now.

Camera

While Huawei wins when it comes to design and hardware, it loses if we talk about camera quality. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has a better dual camera setup on its rear side, which boasts a brighter aperture as well as a better autofocus system. But it remains a midrange-class camera department and it is nothing special.

Battery

Besides having a better camera than its opponent, Xiaomi Mi Max 3 also has a bigger battery and it can last more on a single charge. With a 5500 mAh capacity and a wonderful software optimization, this device has no particular difficulties to reach two days of battery life even with a stressed use.

Price

Huawei Honor 8X Max and Xiaomi Mi Max 3 are priced around €250/$289 and 270€/$312, respectively, in the global market. Huawei Enjoy Max hitten China with a price tag of about €211/$245. Personally, at least when it comes to big phablets, I do not care a lot about design, so I would pick the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 because of its better camera and bigger battery. But if you love the look and you want the best performance, get a unit of Huawei Enjoy Max.

We already compared the Mi Max 3 with Honor Note 10, while in this article we will compare Honor 8X Max and Xiaomi Mi Max 3. It will be a way more interesting comparison as both these devices are affordable mid-rangers while the Note 10 is a flagship.

Huawei Honor 8X Max vs Xiaomi Mi Max 3: Design

Xiaomi is not used to launch many midrange phones with flagship-like aesthetics, but Honor does. Honor 8X Max is much more beautiful than its opponent thanks to its reflective glass back available in three color variants: Black, Blue, and Red. It even has a waterdrop notch which only contains the front camera, as well as a thin chin. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is the classic full metal unibody device, so it is not anything special.

Display

On these devices, you will find two IPS LCD displays with an average viewing quality but a huge diagonal. Both are Full HD+ displays, but Honor 8X Max has a taller screen with a notch, while Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is larger and it does not have a notch. Given the marginal difference in viewing quality, it is all about tastes: choose Honor 8X Max if you prefer a taller display with fewer bezels or choose the Mi Max 3 if you hate the notch and you want less black borders while watching videos.

Specs & Software

Same hardware, with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset and up to 6 GB of RAM. However, there is a small difference: Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is available in a configuration with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, while to have 128 GB on the Honor 8X Max, you have to choose a configuration with 4 GB of RAM. While Honor 8X Max has the EMUI installed, Xiaomi Mi Max 3 comes with MIUI. It is a draw and it is again about tastes.

Camera

Talking about the camera department, I prefer the Xiaomi Mi Max 3. It has a dual camera setup on the back with the primary sensor borrowed from the Mi 8 and with a brighter aperture. It can click very nice photos in most of the light conditions, even though it is far from flagships.

Battery

Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has a slightly bigger battery than Honor 8X Max, with 500 mAh more. And it can provide a longer battery life thanks to the bigger capacity and the wonderful Xiaomi’s optimization on its devices. Both support a fast-charging technology.

Price

In China, Honor 8X Max is priced €190 for the base variant (4/64 GB), while Xiaomi Mi Max 3 carries a price tag of €220. I choose Xiaomi Mi Max 3 as the winner of the comparison as it has a better camera and a bigger battery, and I do not care about having the best design on a so big phablet. But if you do, you are free to disagree with me and choose its opponent as it is very close in terms of specs and performance.

Design

These devices are not the best ones in terms of design as they have a classic full metal unibody design without a flagship-like glass back. If I would have to make a choice, I would pick Motorola One Power due to its higher screen-to-body ratio. Thanks to the notch, the device has a tri-borderless design with just a thicker chin on which you can read the Motorola branding. The other two phones have an 18:9 display and thicker bezels on both the upper and the lower part. Further, Motorola One Power is splashproof, so it is also more interesting for its build quality.

Display

When it comes to display, Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is the most interesting device. The reason is simple: it is one of the phones with the world’s biggest displays. With a size of 6.9 inches, this device is very close to a tablet and it offers a great user experience in productivity and reading. Viewing quality is not so different in each handset, they all pack a midrange-class LCD panel, so do not expect great surprises.

Specs & Software

Same hardware side for each handset, with the Snapdragon 635 chipset and up to 6 GB of RAM depending on the chosen variant. But there is an important difference in the software: as the name suggests, Motorola One Power is powered by Android One, a stock version of Google’s operating system focused on performance and updates, with no customizations. With this device, you would get great performance as well as faster and constant updates for years. So it wins this section of the comparison.

Camera

Unfortunately, we still can not test the camera performance of Motorola One Power as it was launched yesterday. But one thing is sure after reading the specs on the paper: Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 is not at the level of its opponent. Even though we did not test it, on the paper Motorola One Power has the best camera department.

Battery

As mentioned above, the battery is the strongest point of each of these handsets. While the first twos feature a monster 5000 mAh unit, the third has an even bigger 5500 mAh (but note that it also has way bigger dimensions). They can all provide up to two days of battery life with a stressed use, but we believe that Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has the longest battery life.

Price

The price of Motorola One Power starts from just $218, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 was launched for a starting price of $217 and Xiaomi Mi Max carried a launch price tag of $250 in the base configuration. Motorola One Power wins the comparison with its design, Android One support and better camera, but if you like phablets and comfortable phones, go for the Xiaomi Mi Max 3.

As a reminder, the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 sports a 6.9-inch 18:9 display and is powered by an SD636 chip. The chip is based on 14nm process technology. It uses Kryo 260 architecture, octa-core design, while the CPU frequency is 1.8GHz. The GPU is an Adreno 509 GPU whose performance is not much different from Snapdragon 660. The Max 3 equally comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There is also a 6GB + 128GB version but that wasn’t made available in Taiwan. The phone gets its juice from a massive 5500mAh battery and despite the big battery the device isn’t too heavy. The 18:9 aspect ratio also ensures one-handed operation is possible and easier than on previous models.

Looks like smartphone lovers are in for a treat. As part of its recently kicked-off promotion, GeekBuying is offering unmissable deals and big discounts on a wide selection of high-end smartphones.

In a bid to ensure you can find exactly what you’re looking for without breaking much of a sweat, GeekBuying has split the promo into 4 categories – Flash Deals, Top Brands, Best Sellers, And Huge Discounts. Let’s check out the details without further ado.

The Flash Deals section features top brands including Huawei, Xiaomi, and Oppo. Aside from doling out noteworthy discounts on the devices covered in this category, GeekBuying is giving buyers an opportunity to save more money in the form of coupon codes.

For instance, you can pre-order the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 smartphone at a discounted price of $389.99; while it would normally set you back $399.99. On top of that, you can apply coupon code DKEZGLQU to save an extra $20 and bring your grand total down to just $369.99 while placing your order.

Note that each phone covered in this category has a discount coupon. On the downside, the coupons are likely to expire soon.

The Top Brands section comprises a broad range of well-received smartphones from Xiaomi, Nubia, Huawei, and Ulefone. You can get exceptional discounts on the Xiaomi Mi8, the Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi S2, the Redmi 6, the Mi Mix 2S and the Redmi 5 Plus smartphones in this category.

The Best Sellers section is where you can find the rugged Blackview BV9500, the LeTV LeEco Le Pro 3 AI Edition and a slew of other top-notch smartphones that are selling in greater quantities than other handsets on GeekBuying. More importantly, these smartphones are now up for grabs at a reduced price.

Keeping in line with this, the Chinese online store is giving a 6% off on the Huawei Honor 9i smartphone which usually sells for $269.99. Thanks to the aforesaid discount, you can now buy the coveted phone at a lowered price of just $254.99.

Dubbed as Huge Discounts, the last category comprises smartphones that you can buy without emptying your pocket. The section is crammed with high-end phones like the Mi Mix 2, Huawei Nova 2, DOOGEE F7 and Ulefone Armor just to name a few.

Regrettably, there were only a few pieces of each smartphone remaining at the time of writing. Taking this into account, it is imperative for you to follow this link without wasting time if you’re interested in taking advantage of the big discounts and avail the deals before the promo ends.

Looks like Xiaomi fans are in for a treat. If you’ve been waiting with bated breath to get your hands on a high-end smartphone from the Chinese handset manufacturer, we got good news for you.

While feature-laden smartphones don’t come cheap, LightInTheBox is giving cost-conscious buyers something to cheer about by giving discounts on 3 well-received smartphones from Xiaomi.

On top of that, we’ll show how you can effortlessly save more money at the time of checking out. Let’s head straight to the details.

Xiaomi MI A2 Smartphone

The global version of the MI A2 smartphone would normally set you back $533.95 on online stores, but LightInTheBox is currently selling it at a dropped price of just $350.99. This is a 34% decline in the phone’s retail price.

Apart from that, you can apply coupon code ‘BRLITBMIA2’ to save an extra $48.
Xiaomi MI Max 3 Smartphone

Launched in May 2016, the Mi Max smartphone comes with a big 6.44-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 by 1920 pixels. If you fancy using the big screen Mi Max phone but don’t want to spend a fortune, you’ve come to the right place.

LightInTheBox usually places a steep price tag of $649.99 on the MI Max smartphone, but much to the delight of budget-conscious buyers, the Beijing based international online retail company is now selling it at a lowered price of $454.99.

Honor Note 10 vs Xiaomi Mi Max 3: Design

If you get a big phablet like Huawei Honor Note 10 and Xiaomi Mi Max 3, keep in mind that you have to deal with a huge device that is not comfortable to fit in your pockets. But on the other hand, they are very handy to use as an entertainment monster. Honor Note 10 and Xiaomi Mi Max 3 are smaller than the typical phablet thanks to their very narrow bezels, and this is an added value of both the devices. When it comes to aesthetics, Honor Note 10 wins thanks to its more elegant glass back paired with an aluminum frame. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has a full metal unibody design and is uninspiring.

Display

The display is another plus point for the Honor Note 10. It features one of the most impressive panels ever seen on an extra-large phablet. Not only does it have narrow bezels, but also AMOLED and HDR10 technology making its color incredibly vivid and realistic, with very deep blacks. Sadly, it does not feature the Quad HD+ resolution, it would have been amazing on a huge 6.9-inch display, but it still remains an outstanding panel.

Honor Note 10 vs Xiaomi Mi Max 3: Specs & Software

Even when it comes to hardware, Honor Note 10 is way superior! With its Kirin 970 SoC and up to 8 GB of RAM, it achieves flagship-level performances and it is very cool for gaming and multi-tasking. Further, it has the wonderful GPU Turbo technology which enhances graphics performance by up to 60 percent, another added value for gaming. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 instead is just a mid-range device.

Honor Note 10 vs Xiaomi Mi Max 3: Camera

Both devices have pretty good cameras even though they are far from the top camera phones. Unfortunately, there are still no detailed camera samples and the handsets are still not in our market, so we did not have the chance to test them in detail. But on the paper, Honor Note 10 looks better with its dual 16 and 24 MP camera setup and its bright f/1.8 aperture on both the sensors. Note that you can check out our Mi Max 3 video review from here!

Battery

Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has a huge 5500 mAh battery, bigger than the 5000 mAh unit of the Honor Note 10. And it even features a very efficient chipset, the Snapdragon 636. From how usually Xiaomi optimizes its devices, I believe that Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will provide a longer battery life. Finally, an aspect in which the Mi Max 3 should win, as it loses under all the other points of view.

Honor Note 10 vs Xiaomi Mi Max 3: Price

Honor Note 10 is definitely the winner of this comparison, but if you do not need a very powerful flagship with a high-end display, note that Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has a more affordable price tag. Honor Note 10 is available in China for $410/€350 in its base variant, while Mi Max 3 starts from $252/€215.

To be honest, it’s not really fair to compare these two devices despite being large sized phablets. They are clearly aimed at two different market segments. The Honor Note 10 is meant to be your flagship phablet, while the Mi Max 3 is looking to be more of a mid-range and budget phablet option. Both the phones are pretty impressive, but if you need something that’s a flagship grade device for gaming and HD streaming, the Honor Note 10 is your best bet. For someone looking for a more budget option, the Mi Max 3 turns out to be a pretty great option too! Personally, a SD710 variant would’ve been a great option for better gaming on the large screen device, but SD636 is pretty good too, since its nearly as powerful as the SD660. In fact, you can check out our detailed analysis of the Snapdragon mid-range family from here!

Well, this is just a screenshot of the Mi Max 3 interface running AnTuTu app. The benchmark app shows the Xiaomi model picked up a score of 118,741 points which isn’t far off from the average AnTuTu score of Snapdragon 660 models (around 130,000 points). It should be noted that this score is slightly higher than those racked up by other Snapdragon 636-powered models like the Redmi Note 5 with a score of 115,247 points and Meizu E3 with a score of 112478 points.

Dissecting the score, the Mi Max 3’s CPU polled 55,879 points, while the GPU score is 21,313. The UX score is 32,744 and finally, the Memory score is 8805 point. Thus, apart from packing a large display, the Max 3 equally has a dependable processor that can handle the needs of most users, including some bit of heavy gaming.

The Max 3 equally comes with6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There is also a 4GB + 64GB version.

Some even ranked it as the best big budget smartphone of 2017. The Chinese company earlier today unveiled the next-gen Mi Max 3 in China and it just keeps getting better. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is indeed an upgrade of the Max 2 both in size, design and internal hardware. You can check out the design aspects from the pictures gallery below.

The Mi Max 3 features a 6.99-inch display which is bigger than the 6.44-inch screen on the Mi Max 2. The display screen utilizes the 18:9 aspect ratio and an FHD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. This looks pretty impressive as you get an 85.19% screen-to-body ratio. That is one large screen size to watch videos and the split-screen feature would look good on it. The rear design includes a dual camera setup mounted at the left corner in a vertical plane. The camera flash is in the middle of both sensors. The Mi Max 3 equally pack a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor at the middle which shouldn’t be too difficult to reach with the fingers since the device has an 18:9 aspect ratio.

On the internals, the Max 3 packs a Snapdragon 636 chipset which delivers 40% higher performance than the SD625 on the Max 2. The 14nm SoC consumes less power and delivers smoother performance while multitasking on the phone. The chipset is paired with 4GB RAM / 6GB RAM. The 6GB RAM model has 128 GB storage while the 4GB RAM version packs 64GB storage. You’ll agree this is a bang for your buck at just 1,699 Yuan (~$252) for the 4GB RAM variant and 1,999 Yuan (~$296) for the 6GB RAM. Now, ahead of the phone’s launch in China on 19th July, Xiaomi President Lin Bin has shared the phone’s renders and some key specifications.

The images shared by Lin Bin reveals that the smartphone will be available in three color options — Black, Gold, and Blue. He further revealed that the phone features a 6.9-inch full screen display and is said to come with Full HD+ display and 18:9 aspect ratio.

On the back side, there’s a dual camera setup with sensors placed vertically and the module placed at the top-left corner. In the top-center part, there’s a fingerprint sensor for added security. The smartphone also retain the 3.5mm headphone jack.

While sharing details about the Mi Max 3, Xiaomi President Lin Bin said that while the phone comes with a large screen, it doesn’t feel very big. He further added that the smartphone comes with super battery life which will be helpful to those who use their device for a long time.

Earlier, the Mi Max 3’s retail box was leaked online, which confirmed that the smartphone comes powered by Qualcomm‘s recently launched Snapdragon 636 processor. It also revealed that the phone will come with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The dual camera setup on the back consists of a 12MP + 5MP setup and an 8MP front-facing shooter.

According to the reports, there will be another high-end varaint of the Mi Max 3, which will pack 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The report also hints that the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor. There are also reports about the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage model.

The recently leaked images of the phone revealed that the phone will come with MIUI 9 out-of-the-box, which is quite disaapointing as the company has already started rolling out MIUI 10 operating system to some of its smartphones. Running on Android Oreo operating system, the phone is fuelled by a 5,500mAh battery.

Then, it started expanding in other continents and now it has a consistent presence even in Europe. But only a few of its products have been launched in the Old Continent if we consider its whole portfolio. Recently, the EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission) has certified five upcoming devices from the Chinese giant. The fact that they have been certified by the Eurasian Economic Commission means that all of these five handsets will land in Europe.

The devices certified by the EEC are Xiaomi Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite, Mi Max 3, Mi 8 and POCOPHONE. We already reported the certification of Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite and Mi 8, while Mi Max 3 and POCOPHONE are new on the list. The first will officially debut on July 24 and probably its Lite variant will join it in the same presentation event. It will be the successor of the first device by the company with Android One installed. It will have the same specifications as the Mi 6X (recently launched in China with prices going from $253 to $316) with Android One instead of the MIUI as the main difference. So we should get a notchless display with a 5.99-inch size and a Full HD+ resolution, as well as a Snapdragon 660 SoC by Qualcomm paired with 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 32, 64 or 128 GB of internal storage without an expansion slot.

The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite will be a lower-end model which should offer the same specs as the Redmi 6 Pro, with a notched display and a Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 4 GB of RAM. The Mi Max 3 will be the biggest Mi phablet and it will be official on July 18. It will be released with a 6.99-inch Full HD+ display and probably an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, as well as a very big 5000+ mAh battery. POCOPHONE is expected to come as the first smartphone from Xiaomi’s sub-brand and it is still shrouded in the mystery.

After that one, another video showing the Gold variant has popped up as well. In this video, we can see the design of the upcoming phablet way better than in the other one thanks to the lighter hue. For this handset, Xiaomi has decided not to opt for the most premium design. It features a classic full metal unibody design with a circular fingerprint reader placed on the back, while the antenna bands are U-shaped and placed along the upper and the lower border.

The rear side of the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 also houses a dual camera setup placed in a vertical configuration with a LED flash in the middle like the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The front side is white and it includes a tall display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and no notch. Bezels are not so narrow and the screen-to-body ratio is similar to the one of the Redmi Note 5/5 Pro. But unlike those ones, this device will be the biggest phablet from the Chinese giant. Just like the other video, a sticker placed on the display shows some of the main specs of the device.

According to the sticker, Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will have a huge 6.9-inch display and a massive battery with a 5500 mAh capacity. There will also be a dual camera with the same resolutions as the Redmi Note 5: 12 and 5 MP respectively. According to latest leaks, the device will come in a standard version and a Pro version. The first one will boast an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, while the second will have a higher-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 710. The RAM should go from 3 GB to 6 GB (3, 4 or 6 sizes), while the internal storage should be 32GB, 64 GB or 128 GB depending on the configuration.

The screen is a Fullview display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The third-gen Mi Max series continues with the big battery trend of its predecessors, packing a 5400mAh battery. This is slightly bigger than the 5300mAh battery on the Mi Max 2. The phone is likely powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor and there will be three memory versions; 3GB+32GB, 4GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB options.

While Xiaomi has confirmed that it will launch multiple products at the upcoming Shenzhen event, the company has not revealed what the products are.

However, several reports have indicated that the Chinese manufacturer will be launching its flagship smartphone of the year — Mi 7, as well as the Mi 8th Anniversary Edition smartphone which has appeared on Mi Community Forum in China as well Chinese Mi Store. Further, the company is also expected to launch the next-generation fitness band — Mi Band 3.

Along with these products, there were speculations that the company could also launch the Mi Max 3, given that Xiaomi had launched Mi Max 2 in the month of May. However, responding to a question on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said that the Mi Max 3 is estimated to be released in July this year.

According to the previous reports, the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is expected to come with a 6.99-inch Full HD+ display and a huge battery of 5,500mAh capacity that may be enabled with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. Also, it is likely to support Qi wireless charging and the device is also speculated to feature iris scanner for added security.

Rumors surrounding the phone also suggest that it will come equipped with dual rear cameras and it may not feature a 3.5mm audio jack. Recently, a couple of images of the TPU case of the Mi Max 3 surfaced on the Chinese Alibaba website, hinting at the presence of dual rear cameras.

The Mi Max 3 could come in two variants — the base model with Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 636, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and the higher model packing Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

The back panel of the Mi Max 3 is expected to feature Sony IMX363 or an S5K217+S5K5E8 Samsung dual camera module. On the front side, the phone may feature S6K4H7 Samsung sensor and OmniVision OV2281 iris scanner. The leaked firmware files suggest that the device is running on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box.

With Mi Max 3 out of the way, the company could launch Mi 7, Mi 8th Anniversary Edition smartphone and the Mi Band 3 at the Shenzhen launch event. Being the flagship smartphone, both Mi 7 and Mi 8th Anniversary Edition phone are expected to pack Snapdragon 845 processor.

Today, XDA Developers has revealed some of the key specs and features of the forthcoming Xiaomi Mi Max 3 mid-range phablet through its firmware files.

The first-generation Mi Max came with a 4,850mAh battery and the Mi Max 2 came with a bigger battery of 5,300mAh capacity. The firmware files of Mi Max 3 have revealed that it will be arriving with a behemoth battery of 5,500mAh capacity.

The Snapdragon 660 chipset will be powering the Mi Max 3. The original Mi Max came in Snapdragon 650 and 652 chipset variants. Hence, there is a possibility that the Mi Max 3 may also in arrive Snapdragon 630 chipset option, but there is no supporting evidence for it in its firmware files.

As rumors have claimed, the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will indeed feature an 18:9 aspect ratio display. However, there is no confirmation on its exact size and the resolution that it will be supporting. It is a safe bet to assume that it will carry support for FHD+ resolution. It will be equipped with a rear positioned fingerprint scanner.

The firmware files of Mi Max 3 have references for wireless charging. For instance, there are some strings in the APK of MIUI Keyguard that contains text like “wireless charging has stopped”, “position offset” and “please reposition.”

Xiaomi had joined the Wireless Power Consortium last year which indicates that some of the phones from the company that will be released this year will carry support for Qi wireless charging. The first phone to feature it could be the Mi 7 and the next one could be the Mi Max 3. A help video and graphic on how to place the handset on the charging base for wireless charging has been also found in the firmware files. A demo image showing a generic device placed on wireless charging been has been also unearthed.

The back panel of the Mi Max 3 is expected to feature Sony IMX363 or an S5K217+S5K5E8 Samsung dual camera module. The frontside of the phone features S6K4H7 Samsung sensor and OmniVision OV2281 iris scanner. Since the lines related to iris recognition have been commented out, the company seems to be still deciding on adding this feature on Mi Max 3.

The firmware files suggest that the device is running on Android 8.1 Oreo. However, it could be a developer ROM. It may probably launch with Nougat flavored MUI 9. The other features that will be arriving on the Mi Max 3 include dual-SIM support, microSD card slot, IR blaster, LED light for alerts, aptX and aptX HD Bluetooth audio codecs by Qualcomm. The device lacks NFC connectivity. Lastly, it may feature dual speakers.

There is no information available on the launch date of Mi Max 3. Judging by the launch patterns of the predecessor models, it seems that the new phablet may get unveiled in May.

The Mi Max 2 is about to get a successor in the Mi Max 3 and the photo of the device has appeared in a new leak.

The leaked photo is that of the rear panel and it looks very much like the Max 2 when viewed from the rear. The major difference is that the Mi Max 3 packs a dual rear camera setup which is located at the top left corner. The device also packs a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, perhaps due to the full-screen design expected to reign up front. One wonders how a rear fingerprint sensor can be easily accessed in a phablet-sized device.

Apart from the design, the leak also shed some light on the expected specs of the Xiaomi Mi Max 3. Top of the list is the presence of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 premium midrange chipset. An earlier leak had mentioned the Mi Max 3 as coming with a Snapdragon 835 flagship chip but that isn’t likely the case. The Mi Max 2 came with a Snapdragon 625 chipset. An upgrade to a Snapdragon 660 is adequate to still make it an affordable mid-ranger. The leak also reveals that the Mi Max 3 would run on MIUI 9 out of the box which is expected. In addition, the device will be priced at 1,000 Yuan and we can’t help going ballistic over this one. It is very much unlikely! The Mi Max 3 should come with a price hovering around 1,500 Yuan ($233)/ 1,600 Yuan ($249). Further, the Mi Max 3 would feature a 6.99-inch fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) display, along with 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of native storage, which will probably be expandable. The phone will probably also be equipped with two SIM card slots, while it will likely be fueled by a 5,500mAh non-removable battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.

Th dual camera setup at the rear consists of two 12MP sensors while at the front will be a 5MP selfie camera. One other aspect the Mi Max 3 is expected to be markedly different from its predecessor is the display design. The device is expected to feature thinner bezels just like the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus. A set of renders were also released to give an idea of how the Mi Max 3 would look up front. We can’t say if Xiaomi will be adopting such design for the Max 3.In addition, there’s no word yet on the launch date but that may not happen until mid-2018. So, we’ll be on the lookout for more details of the device.

Previously, we reported that the phone could come with a massive 7-inch full-screen display. Now it seems that the massive tablet-like display has been confirmed.

The Mi Max 3’s specification sheet has emerged online through Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, which also reveals that the phone will feature a massive 6.99-inch full-screen design with 18:9 aspect ratio. Xiaomi jumped the full-screen bandwagon last month with the launch of its Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus.

Other specifications of the Mi Max 3 include a 12-megapixel rear camera sensor and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for taking selfies and making video calls. However, the leaked design of the phone reveals that there will be a dual-camera setup at the back.

There will be two variants based on the memory configuration — 3GB RAM with 64GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 128GB internal storage. The phone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 635 processor. However, there’s another report that suggests that the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor.

The Snapdragon 635 processor from Qualcomm is believed to be the successor of Snapdragon 625 processor, and is manufactured with 14 nm process technology and will feature an octa-core Kryo processor. The GPU on the chipset is also expected to be 20 percent more powerful as compared to its predecessor.

The Mi Max 3 is said to be fuelled by a 5,500mAh battery, which will also support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology as well as reverse charging. While there are no details available about the software used, we are expecting the phablet to run Android Nougat based MIUI 9.

The latest leak suggests that the phone will be launched in June this year. As of the pricing, the phone will start retailing at 1,699 Yuan, which roughly converts to $264.

This year, the company launched its successor, dubbed as Mi Max 2 with upgraded specifications. Now, according to the latest reports, the company is now working on the Mi Max 3.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will reportedly come with major upgrades to keep the devices in line with the current trends. The phone is expected to come with an even bigger display size of 7-inch. This is interesting as the 7-inch devices usually fall under the tablet category. The Full HD+ display will have a screen resolution of 2160 × 1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio.

The phablet is likely to be powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 660 chipset. Currently, we don’t have information regarding the RAM and internal storage capacity on the device. With dual camera setup at the back of the device getting mainstream, the Mi Max 3 is expected to come equipped with the same.

Looking at the recently leaked images of the phone, the dual camera module will be placed at the top-left corner, along with an LED flash. The company is expected to employ a high-resolution camera sensor coupled with a depth sensor, or a wide-angle lens with a telephoto lens.

The phone is expected to pack a 5,500mAh battery which will also support Quick Charge 3.0 as well as reverse charging. While there are no details available about the software used, we are expecting the phablet to run Android Nougat based MIUI 9. Looking at the past launch dates, we are expecting this Mi Max 3 to launch in the middle of the next year.

The Mi Max 2 features a 6.44-inch Full HD with 1920 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, paired with 4GB RAM. There is a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
