Xiaomi entered India’s laptop market in the first half of 2020 with Mi Notebook 14 and Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition. These notebooks are unlike most products laptops in their price segment with a metal unibody design. They are exclusive to Amazon India, Mi online store, and partner retailers. But earlier today, a seller on Flipkart sold one of these laptops at almost half of its price tag for a short period of time.

The Xiaomi laptop model that was on offer was the mid-variant of Mi Notebook 14 with Intel Core-i5, 8GB RAM, and 512GB SSD. This version normally costs ₹43,999. But a seller sold it for only ₹25,519 for a short period of time.

To avail this offer, buyers had to checkout the laptop with Mi Webcam (₹1,469), which is usually bundled with the notebook automatically on Mi Online Store and Amazon India.

Adding the Mi Webcam to the cart with Mi Notebook should drop the price of the webcam to ₹0. However, due to a glitch, instead of discounting the price of Webcam, it added a whopping ₹18,480 discount (42% off) to the laptop, bringing its price down to ₹25,519 from ₹43,999.

So customers who managed to order the product had to pay a total of ₹26,988, which includes the discounted price of the laptop (₹25,519) as well as the selling price of the webcam (₹1,469).

That said, not all the orders went through as some of the orders got canceled a few minutes after confirmation but many did not. Currently, both Mi Notebook 14 and Mi Webcam are out of stock on Flipkart with a “Coming Soon” notice.

Xiaomi’s Redmi smartphone has gained tremendous success in India. So also the brand’s wearable devices such as earbuds and wrist bands. The Chinese company is now set to enter the notebook PC market and will take the wraps off its first Mi Notebook models in India on June 11.

Some of the specs of the Mi Notebook 14 has appeared online. The notebook will come in four different models, all powered by 10th-gen Intel Core CPUs. The Mi Notebook 14 will be powered by the 10th gen Intel Core i5 processor. However, the Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition will have a 10th gen Intel Core i7 processor. In the aspect of the GPU, the Horizon Edition will pack an NVIDIA GeForce MX350 graphics while the regular edition will have its graphics fired up by an Intel integrated graphics or NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics.

As the name suggests, the laptop will feature a 14-inch display with FHD resolution. The Horizon Edition is, however, rumoured to feature an edge to edge 14-inch FHD display with a 91% screen-to-body ratio. The standard edition will have 256GB of storage but other models are said to feature 512GB SSD. All models will have 8GB of RAM onboard and it is unlikely that the memory can be expanded. Xiaomi claims that Mi Notebook 14 will deliver up to 10 hours of battery life.

As for the prices, the Mi Notebook 14 is expected to start at 50,000 INR (~$660) for the base model.
