Last month, Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 in China. Since launch, it has been available in 6 GB, 8 GB, and 12 GB RAM variants. Now, the company has announced anew 8 GB RAM variant for people in the home market who are looking forward to purchasing the Pad 5 Pro 12.4.

The Pad 5 Pro has been available in variants like 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage, and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage in China. These models are priced at 2,799 Yuan (~$403), 3,299 Yuan (~$476), and 3,999 Yuan (~$576), respectively. The tablet comes in three colors, such as black, silver, and green.

Xiaomi is yet to confirm the price and availability of the new variant that offers 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. It is likely that the new model could be priced at 2,999 Yuan (~$433) in the home market.

Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 specifications

The Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 has a 12.4-inch IPS LCD display that offers a resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels, an aspect ratio of 16:10, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and 500 nits of brightness. It carries support for Dolby Vision and comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection for the screen.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 features the Snapdragon 870 chipset. It is coupled with up to 12 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256 GB of native storage. There is no microSD card slot on the device. It runs on the Android 12 OS with MIUI Pad 13 custom skin on top.

On the front, it has a 20-megapixel camera, and its back panel has a 50-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and an LED flash. It houses a 10,000mAh battery that carries support for 67W fast charging. The device is fitted with quad speakers and carries support for stylus.

The latest tablet is a lot different from the Pad 5 Pro launched last year. It comes with a Snapdragon 870 Soc, a 12.4-inch 2.5K resolution LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a massive 10,000mAh battery. Let’s have a look at all the details.

Design and Display

Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4-inch is carrying a lot of changes in terms of design and appearance. The company has trimmed down the bezels. However, it continues to retain the previous four sides of the full-screen equal-width approach on the front.

The back of the device is a different story. The camera module on the device has been redesigned and it now looks identical to the Xiaomi 12 Series phones. Talking about the display, the tablet comes with a 12.4-inch LCD panel that offers a 2.5K resolution and supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The display can attain a maximum brightness of 500nit brightness rate and supports the P3 color gamut, HDR10. It also comes with Dolby Vision certification.

The Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 comes with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor that was seen on the Pad 5 Pro launched in 2021. It is available in multiple storage options including a 6GB+128GB version and an 8GB + 256GB version. It also comes in a top-of-the-line 12GB+ 512GB storage version.

The Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 is equipped with a triple camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel main sensor and a pair of 2-megapixel depth-of-field lenses. combination. For selfies and video calls, the device houses a 20-megapixel shooter. Overall the camera system has improved a lot as compared to the previous device.

In terms of battery life, the Xiaomi Pad Pro 12.4 packs a massive 10000mAh battery and it supports 67W fast charging. The device is claimed to fully charge in just 68 minutes. For an immersive sound experience, the tablet uses a quad-speaker setup and also houses two microphones. It runs MIUI 13 out of the box.

According to teasers and leaks, the company is expected to debut at least five new products. Let’s check out how you can watch this upcoming Xiaomi launch event.

The forthcoming Xiaomi conference is called ‘ 2022 Lei Jun’s Annual Speech’. As the name suggests, the company’s CEO will be giving his annual speech, which will be later followed by new product announcements.

The event is scheduled for 7 PM CST on August 11. It will be live streamed on Weibo and other leading Chinese video streaming platforms.

On Aug. 11, Xiaomi CEO and founder, Lei Jun will hold his annual speech to share the company’s trends. Today, the company confirmed that it will announce multiple products such as the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 foldable phone, the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4, and the Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro TWS earbuds at the same event. These products will be announced at 7 pm (local time) on the said date. There is a possibility that the company may also announce its first electric vehicle on the same platform.

Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 specifications (rumored)

The Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is expected to arrive with a 6.5-inch Samsung AMOLED E5 cover display with a 21:9 aspect ratio, 2520 x 1080 pixels resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. On the inside, the device will be equipped with a foldable Eco² AMOLED 8-inch display with LTPO technology. Both displays are said to support a 120hz refresh rate.

The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 is likely to power the MIX Fold 2. Speculations are rife that the Xiaomi device with a 22061218C model number that was recently certified by TENAA and 3C certification platforms will break cover as the MIX Fold 2. The TENAA listing of the device has only revealed that it will come in variants such as 12 GB RAM + 512 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 1 TB storage.

The MIX Fold 2’s rear camera setup will have a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary camera with OIS support. It will be assisted by a 13-megapixel OmniVision OV13B ultra-wide snapper, and a telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. The cameras will be accompanied by the Surge C1 image processing chip. The official poster also confirms that the MIX Fold 2 will offer Lecia’s photography optimizations. The 3C certification of the device revealed that it will have support for 67W fast charging.

Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 and Buds 4 Pro

The Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 is likely to be a larger version of the existing Mi Pad 5. Hence, it is expected to feature a 12.4-inch LCD panel and Snapdragon 870. It will probably have a larger battery. The Buds 4 Pro will be Xiaomi’s next premium TWS earbuds. However, there is no information on the specifications and features of the Buds 4 Pro.

Xiaomi is working on a new tablet that has the model number 22081281AC. The device was previously rumored to be the Redmi Pad 5G, however, it appears that it will debut as the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4-inch model.

The tablet has already popped up on the 3C and CMIIT certification websites. Now, the same device has made an appearance on Geekbench revealing key details like its chipset, RAM, and operating system. So, without further ado, let’s look at the listing.

Xiaomi 22081281AC Geekbench

According to the listing, the Xiaomi 22081281AC tablet has an octa-core processor with one prime core clocked at 3.19GHz, three cores clocked at 2.42GHz, and four cores clocked at 1.8GHz. This chipset also has the Adreno 650 GPU onboard, making it pretty clear that this is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC.

The chipset is paired with 8GB RAM and runs on an Android 12-based operating system, which is likely the MIUI 13. Moving on to the performance of the tablet, it scores 886 points in the single-core test and 3117 points in the multi-core test of Geekbench 5.

If the report of it being the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4″ turns out to be true, we can expect the tablet to launch on August 11 in the Chinese market.
