Xiaomi‘s sub-brand Pocophone launched its first smartphone a couple of months back, named Pocophone F1. The phone carries top of the line specifications but comes with an affordable price tag.

After launching the smartphone in India, Indonesia, and Hong Kong, the Pocophone F1 is now officially available in the UK through Amazon. The company made the announcement of the phone’s availability in the UK through Twitter.

In the UK, the phone comes in two variants — 6GB RAM with 64GB internal storage and 6GB RAM with 128GB internal storage. While the 64GB storage model is priced at £329.99 (approximately $433), the 128GB storage model costs £349, roughly $459.

To recall the specifications, Pocophone F1 flaunts a 6.18-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with 2246 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 18.7:9 aspect ratio. It is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass on top. The display offers up to 500-nits brightness and a high contrast ratio of 1500:1.

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Pocophone launched its first “affordable flagship” smartphone Pocophone F1 in August with an aggressive pricing of just $300. After the phone went on sale in India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Europe, it’s now available for pre-order in the United States.

The phone’s listing appeared on B&H Photo Video’s website, with a price tag of $370 for the 6GB RAM model carrying 64GB of internal storage while the 128GB storage model is priced at $399.99. Unfortunately, the global version of the Pocophone F1 is incompatible with the CDMA networks of Verizon and Sprint and also lacks the LTE bands to operate on AT&T and T-Mobile’s 4G networks.

The Pocophone F1 flaunts a 6.18-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display which offers 2246 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 18.7:9 aspect ratio. The display supports up to 500-nits brightness and a high contrast ratio of 1500:1. For protection from minor scratches, there’s a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass on top.

Xiaomi Pocophone F1 is now shining on Geekbench a few days ahead of the official launch. This smartphone has been defined by the new Xiaomi sub-brand as the Master of Speed, and according to the new Geekbench listing the company is right. Indeed, the device has obtained impressive results on the known benchmarking platform, better than any real non-gaming devices. The handset has scored 9081 points in multi-core performance, over classing flagships such as OnePlus 6, Xiaomi Mi 8 and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, while it has scored 2467 points in single-core performance in which the only better device is the Samsung Galaxy S9+.

The added value of Xiaomi Pocophone F1 over the competition is that it should be the cheapest device ever equipped with an octa-core Snapdragon 845, the best SoC by Qualcomm running at a frequency of 2.8 GHz. The device has been recently spotted on pre-sale with a price tag of just €430,  that is €50 lower than the cheapest Snapdragon 845-powered handset: the Asus Zenfone 5z. Xiaomi India recently announced the launch of its new Pocophone line with the first model in the lineup dubbed Pocophone F1 dropping on August 22 in India. Ahead of the launch, even before the launch date was announced, we have been bombarded with several leaks surrounding the new model. It gets pretty confusing determining whether the model has been launched or not, as almost all the details about the model have come out except the price. Perhaps, this latest unboxing video is a clear evidence of how generous Xiaomi has been in releasing details of the smartphone even before its launch.

The unboxing video shows off the POCO F1 in its entirety. This is a proper unboxing done by a professional and it begins with showing us the retail box with the name “Pocophone by Xiaomi” and “Pocophone F1” inscribed on it. It is also marked as “Global version” thus eliciting suspicion that Xiaomi may launch the model in China. The “Global version” marking also clearly shows that the model is targeted at the global market and will be sold across different countries especially in Europe. The bottom of the retail box contains the key specs of the phone which includes a Snapdragon 845 chipset.

The retail box contains the phone itself as well as a SIM tray ejector, protective casing and charging adapter with USB cable. The video also shows us the phone while powered on and put to use. Xiaomi is expected to take the wraps off a new model which is said to go by the name Pocophone F1. No date has been set for the launch but we believe it is almost before us. Ahead of that, the device has allegedly appeared on AnTuTu benchmark showing the benchmark score. According to the screenshot which appeared online recently, the Pocophone F1 (listed as Poco F1), scored a lofty 285,302 points on AnTuTu benchmark.

While the score is not officially listed on AnTuTu’s website or official Weibo page, the screenshot is clearly that of the AnTuTu benchmark app interface. Apart from the over 285k score, the Pocophone F1 performed better than many of the flagship phones that have run through the benchmark in recent times.

From AnTuTu’s ranking of the top 10 best performing smartphones in July, only the Xiaomi Black Shark Gaming phone and OPPO Find X had a higher score as can be seen in the chart above. It ranks better than the Vivo NEX and OnePlus 6. Make no mistake, the Pocophone F1 isn’t powered by any other chipset than the Snapdragon 845 chip which has been featured on a number of flagships around. So, we can’t easily explain why it performed better. However, it may be related to the liquid cooling system and other optimization the device is expected to feature. Xiaomi Pocophone F1 is said to be targeted at the European market and so a higher benchmark score than the OnePlus 6 offers some prospects. But Xiaomi has got to offer much more to sway OnePlus’ teeming fans in Europe and other markets outside China.
