During Xiaomi Group’s earnings call on the evening of August 18, President Lu Weibing confirmed that the Xiaomi Robot will make its public debut at the 2026 World Robot Conference, which runs from August 19 to 23 in Beijing.

Lu was pretty clear about the priority: the most important application right now is on production lines in smart manufacturing factories, where robots can take over some of the manual work. On the technical side, Xiaomi is aiming for universality, both in the robot’s body size and in the models that power it.

The company has gone with a full-size humanoid form that stands about 1.7 meters tall. Lu also made it clear that Xiaomi won’t develop the robot in isolation. Instead, it’ll tie into the broader “people, cars, and home” ecosystem, looking at ways it can work together in smart factories, intelligent transportation, and even household settings.

This public reveal builds on some earlier internal testing. Back in July, Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun shared results from the robots’ four-month “internship” at an automobile factory. At a self-tapping nut installation station that required dual-sided work, the success rate climbed from 90.2% to 98%.

The robots later moved into new roles in the final assembly workshop, hitting 90% success rates on tasks like folding center-console side covers and handling material boxes, marking the first time they’d handled long-duration work with flexible parts.

These factory trials show Xiaomi’s practical approach: get the performance solid in controlled industrial settings first, then show it more widely. When the World Robot Conference opens, this will be the first chance for the public to see how the company’s humanoid platform actually performs outside internal testing, and how it might fit into manufacturing and everyday scenarios.

Xiaomi announced a bunch of new products at today’s event and to be honest they were all pretty cool. However, what impressed us the most is Xiaomi’s first full-size humanoid robot called CyberOne. Of course, this is not the first time the Chinese tech giant has launched a robotic product. The company previously unveiled a CyberDog, which, as the name suggests, is inspired by our furry friend.

As per the company, CyberOne is a full-scale humanoid bionic robot that is 177cm tall and weighs 52kg. It has been nicknamed “Metal bro” and somehow it also has been given a zodiac sign, Leo. The robot’s face is made of a curved OLED panel and it can see the world in 3D. For hearing, it has two microphones.

It is equipped with Xiaomi’s self-developed whole-body control algorithm, which can coordinate the movement of 21 joints. Further, the humanoid robot can interpret 45 human semantic emotions and distinguish 85 environmental semantics. The robot is claimed to learn new skills each day.

The CyberOne humanoid robot, according to Xiaomi, combines sophisticated mechatronics and artificial intelligence created by the company’s specialized Robot Labs. The company claims that significant resources and labor were used to build the CyberOne.

CyberOne is just a first-gen product and most of its aspects are still in the development stage. It’s still no on far with the robots of Boston Dynamics. However, the robot has definitely beaten Tesla’s humanoid prototype.

Robots still feel like a fragment of a dystopian dream but the recent innovations in the field suggest that the future is going to be full of automated gadgets and robots. Like it or not, Robots will become a part of daily lives very soon.

Xiaomi’s CyberOne Robot would cost somewhere in the range of 600,000 to 700,000 yuan (about $89,100 to $104,000) and it’s not commercialized yet.

Xiaomi is launching its Mi Robot Vacuum cleaner tomorrow but that isn’t the only ”robot” the company has been working on.

Leaked images from an insider shows a robot playing a game of xiangqi (Chinese chess) against a human and appears to be doing fairly well. The Xiaomi robot which has a height of about 20 to 30 cm is white and orange (xiaomi colours) and has a wheel.

The xiaomi robot is connected via cable to a camera placed on it which in turn provides a live feed to a phone held by another person. We can’t tell if  the person with the phone is just viewing the game or actually controlling the robots actions, but we want to believe it’s the latter. Because, why else will a robot be playing chess against a human unless it’s an AI robot?

If you look closely, you’ll see a Xiaomi ID card on the table and a Mi logo on the top left corner of the phone in use (looks like the Mi 5) verifying that this is indeed taking place at a Xiaomi facility.

Xiaomi seems to want to have its finger in every pie, so we are not too shocked about this. This year alone, the company has released a drone, a smart bike, a PC, and a smart rice cooker.
