Xiaomi Easy Finance or XEF is a digital loan program launched by Xiaomi India. It is designed to provide Indian consumers with flexible and affordable options for purchasing Redmi smartphones. The program is in partnership with Axio, a digital financial services provider, and Trustonic, a security expert. The XEF scheme is available at Mi Homes, Mi Studios, Mi Stores, Mi Preferred Partners, regional retail chains, and all authorized Xiaomi outlets spread across the country.

To avail the loan, customers need to submit their KYC documents and PAN card details. The loan application process is digital and paperless, and customers can get instant loan approval. Once the loan is approved, customers can purchase any Xiaomi smartphone at no-cost EMI options. Xiaomi has said that the XEF scheme is designed to make smartphone ownership more affordable and accessible to a larger audience. The company believes that the scheme will help it to further its market reach in India.

The launch of the XEF scheme comes at a time when the Indian smartphone market is growing rapidly. According to Counterpoint Research, the Indian smartphone market grew by 10% in the first quarter of 2023. Xiaomi is the leading smartphone vendor in India with a market share of 23%. The XEF scheme is likely to boost Xiaomi’s sales in India. The scheme will make it easier for customers to purchase Xiaomi smartphones, especially those who are on a tight budget.

Xiaomi Struggles in India as Samsung Overtakes as Market Leader

According to Counterpoint, Samsung had a 20% market share in the last quarter of 2022 compared to Xiaomi’s 18%. This loosening of Xiaomi’s grip on the market is a lesson for companies that fail to cater to changing consumer preferences in a fast-growing economy with rising disposable incomes.

Xiaomi’s portfolio of budget phones was out of step with the premiumisation trend that is sweeping India, leading to a strategic shift to focus on premium smartphones. In January, it launched the Redmi Note 12 whose top-end variant is priced above Rs. 30,000, and more recently the Xiaomi 13 Pro at Rs. 79,999 – its highest-priced phone in India. The shift has already paid dividends, with the Redmi Note 12 clocking sales of $61 million within two weeks of its launch.

Samsung’s success in India has been aided by a scheme run with its financing partners that offers “convenient and assured” loans, helping generate $1 billion in device sales last year. The growth in premium segment phones was much higher in small towns than in big cities, and almost half the consumers who opted for its financing scheme were first-time loan seekers.

Xiaomi has also tapped partnerships to offer loans, calling them a key growth driver for sales of phones priced above Rs. 15,000. The company will also open more stores beyond its current network of 20,000 retail partners and boost local procurement of mobile phone parts, likely reducing costs.

Some industry analysts believe the new strategy could help the Chinese company return to solid growth in India. Xiaomi has historically enjoyed a strong brand equity, a robust online and offline channel presence, and can make a comeback with a potentially strong premium and value-for-money product mix. The lesson for companies like Xiaomi is that they need to be responsive to changing consumer tastes and preferences to succeed in fast-growing markets like India.

When it comes to the looks, we have a nice and minimal design. The kettle is made of quality matt plastic and inside of it is made of stainless steel.

You can pour in up to 1.5l of water inside of it and the kettle uses 1.8kw of power.

Overall, the kettle is very well made and it seems that it will last a long time.

Xiaomi Smart Kettle Review: SMART FEATURES

Since it is the first smart kettle I’ve ever reviewed, I was super excited to test all the features out.

First of all, you can use the device as a regular kettle by simply pressing the first capacitive key, which has a great response.

In order to unleash those smart features, you have to connect the kettle to your phone via Bluetooth using the Mi Home app. I didn’t have any issues connecting my phone to the device but I didn’t like the fact that the app is in Chinese. The main smart feature is that the kettle has a built-in temperature control up to 12 h. Within the app, you can select e.g. that you want to keep the temperature of the water at 80 degrees from 1 to 12 hours.

Also, if you choose the button showing the curve going up, the kettle will raise the temperature to the boiling level first and then keep it at your desired level.

Xiaomi Smart Kettle Review: CONCLUSIONS

Everything worked just fine during my review period and I believe these features are great for those who love drinking tea of coffee constantly without the need to boil the water and then wait for it to cool off.

Also, I love a design and quality materials used in the construction of the Xiaomi Mi Kettle.

However, I was disappointed that as of now, the app is in Chinese. Also, I believe there should be more smart features e.g. the ability to turn on/off the kettle using your phone. Finally, I believe the Wifi connection would have been better on this kind of the device, so you can control the kettle from a distance.

At the end of the day, the Xiaomi smart kettle is a nice-looking and high-quality product and it does all the things as advertised but it is up to you to decide if the price of $54 is worth it.

As for design, nothing really changed except for the fact that Xiaomi added a fingerprint scanner on the back. It is very accurate and it works straight from the standby mode. 

Once I first picked the phone up I noticed that the build quality is slightly better than the Redmi 3.

There is no major difference but the buttons have a slightly better tactile feedback and there are absolutely no moving parts on the device (the Redmi 3’s back cover moved a little bit if pressed harder).

Other than that, we have the same button placement, the same ports, camera and it is the same phone in terms of the design as the Redmi 3 except for a fingerprint reader.

One thing is that the gold model looks much better to me than the silver model of the Redmi 3 we reviewed previously. 

Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro Review: HARDWARE and PERFORMANCE

A hardware department is where the Redmi 3 Pro has improved. Well, it uses the same octa-core Snapdragon 616 chip with the maximum clock speeds of 1.5GHz. However, now we are getting 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage via the microSD card slot. 

As expected, gaming performance is good. Asphalt 8 runs perfectly on medium graphics and there were just a few minor skipped frames on the highest graphics settings, so you may enjoy playing even the most demanding games on the Redmi 3 Pro.

Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro Review: UI

Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro comes with MIUI 7.2, which is built on top of Android 5.1. Hopefully, Xiaomi updates this phone to Marshmallow soon.

The UI looks the same as on any other Xiaomi phone. As usual, there is no app tray and all apps sit on the home-screens.

If you are not yet familiar with the MIUI, it has tons of customization options, which include a wide choice of themes, wallpapers, fonts and so on. 

Also, you can highly customise the LED light, assign different tasks to capacitive buttons, do various tweaks and personalise the phone in a lot of different ways. 

All in all, MIUI 7.2 runs fast and fluid most of the times and I didn’t really have any hiccups or lags. 

Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro Review: MULTIMEDIA 

Watching full-HD content is a blast as videos in different formats play smoothly. The sound via earphones is pretty good with a loud volume output and clear sound for a budget device.  

As far as the loudspeaker, it is pretty good too. While it is definitely not the best but it has a reasonable amount of depth and it does not sound tinny like a lot of cheap phones. 

Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro Review: IMAGE QUALITY

The 13MP camera takes pictures very fast thanks to PDAF system.  Also, I see a slight improvement over the Redmi 3 and that is thanks to the updated software.

The camera has become more consistent with the daylight shots and it does not struggle with focusing. If you take pictures in good lighting, you can achieve some great results. The images are sharp and detailed almost every time you take a photo.

The only downsides are that sometimes there is a softer focus on the corners and the dynamic range was off in a few shots.

The indoor and low-light shots have less detail and more noise but they are still not bad for the phone this cheap if we compare the Redmi 3 Pro to other devices in this price range. 

The selfie camera is pretty good for social media needs.

Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro Review: CONNECTIVITY

All the connectivity options work great. Call quality is okay and signal reception is excellent. Also, Wifi, GPS and Bluetooth are working fine. However, I was disappointed as the phone does not support 5GHz Wifi connection.

Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro Review: BATTERY LIFE 

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro has a huge 4100mAh non-removable battery and it performs just like the regular Redmi 3. 

In short, battery life is fantastic. I could not squeeze the battery out in one day even on heavy usage that involved gaming, installing lots of apps, watching a lot of videos, taking pictures, browsing the web and so on. 

I was able to achieve over 7 hours of screen-on time with max. auto brightness setting of the screen. That means that you can achieve even more impressive results if you reduce the brightness or don’t use the phone that heavily like I did during my testing period. 

Finally, Xiaomi claims that the Redmi 3 Pro has a fast charging feature. However, it took me just over 3.5h to charge the phone with the original charger. That means that you would need to buy a fast charger separately to charge your phone fast. 

Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro Review: CONCLUSIONS

So here it is, the Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro, an upgraded model over the Redmi 3. 

It has preserved great looks of the Redmi 3 and it even sports a better build quality. Right now the phone feels more solid in the hand. Also, the addition of a fingerprint scanner, which is fast and accurate, is a great feature to have in a compact phone. 

You are not going to see a major difference in terms of UI or gaming performance with the additional 1GB of RAM or more storage space but these specs make the Redmi 3 Pro a more solid and future-proof phone.

The daylight image quality seems to have become more consistent  and that is thanks to software optimisation. However, don’t expect any stellar results in low-light scenarios.

Some may agree, some may not but if you asked me, I would have loved to see backlit capacitive buttons on the Pro model. Also, while the 720p display is pretty good, the 1080p panel would have better justified the Pro moniker. 

All in all, the Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro is a very solid device and it is very hard to beat it in this price range. It brought some welcome features and slight improvements over the Redmi 3 and it is highly recommended to buy if you are in the market of great affordable smartphones.

As of now, Xiaomi has established a strong presence in the budget and mid-range smartphone segments, both in China as well as some international markets. However, as many of you would already know, the margin in the low-end segment is close to nothing, which means those who primarily operate in these markets are not going to make much, despite selling in millions.

As a result, it becomes necessary for companies to extend its products over a wide price range, which is something that we have not yet seen from Xiaomi. Yes, many of you would argue that the company has the Xiaomi Mi Note lineup in the high-end segment. Xiaomi had previously hinted that it will enter the high-end smartphone market with amazing products in the coming months. Now, Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO has revealed in an interview that the company is working these high-end products and will release them in 2016.

So, there are two flagship smartphones that can be the face of the company’s high-end lineup. First, it could be the Mi 5 flagship which has been making the rumor rounds for around a year. Another possible candidate that could compete in the 3000 Yuan ($460) segment is the successor to the Mi Note series, namely the Mi Note 2. While details about the device is scarce at the moment, Xiaomi could update the lineup with very powerful smartphones to take on the high-end segment.

Well, at this moment, this is all we know. Lei Jun adds that these 3000 Yuan phones are going to be amazing, so we can expect some great products from Xiaomi next year.

Samsung has officially unveiled a new smartphone called Samsung Galaxy E7 today. The Korean company took the stage at China Samsung Forum 2015 to announce the new phone.

According to Samsung, the new phone in its Galaxy series will be aimed at mid-range smartphone market. In fact, the company is placing the new phone below the recently-released Galaxy A series smartphones. The phone’s targeted market will be mostly Asia.

Like most Samsung Galaxy series smartphone, Galaxy E7 has the average Samsung design. It focuses on an ultra-thin design philosophy and the body is more rounded when compared to A series, which is already on sale in the market.

The Samsung Galaxy E7, the first of Galaxy E series, packs a 5.5-inch screen with 720p HD display. Under the hood, it sports Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage. It has microSD card slot so users can increase the device storage according to their needs.

Galaxy E7 also has a 13 MP camera on the back and 5 MP camera on the front. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box, no words on whether it will receive update to the latest version of Android, though.

With a 2950mAh capacity battery, Samsung Galaxy E7 will support dual SIM cards. In addition to that, the phone will work on FDD 4G LTE network and will be priced at around 2000 Yuan (roughtly $320).

Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun disclosed the total sales of Xiaomi phones at the Xiaomi Mi4 launch event.

Lei Jun stated, during the last 3 years since August 16, 2011, Xiaomi released 5 phones, and total  sales reached 57.36million. In the first half year of 2014, Xiaomi had sold out 26.11million cell phones, pre-tax sales reached 330 billion RMB (about 53 billion USD).

Besides, Xiaomi also reported sales of specific cell phone models, statistics are as listed: Xiaomi Mi1 7.9million, Xiaomi Mi2 17.4million, Xiaomi Mi3 10.5million, Xiaomi Redmi 18million, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.56million. By now, the number of active MIUI users has reached 65 million.

At the end of the launch show, Lei Jun said Xiaomi planed to sell 60million at least in 2014.

In addition, attention once again to confirm the Xiaomi Red Rice 2 will be listed in the post in the end of this February with 999 yuan or around $165 USD price tag.

Chinese mobile phone manufacturer, Xiaomi, is ready to producing their new smartphone with very affordable price. According to a report from Nikkei Asian Review, Xiaomi is preparing their new smartphone for just only $50 USD price tag for the expansion into the Japanese market.

The other smartphone manufacturers are also plans to expand its low-cost smartphone market to Japan is Coolpad which also is the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, and the one of another smartphone manufacturer is Micromax from India. Both are also reported to be carrying a smartphone for only $ 50 USD price.

This year, it began to aggressively widen Xiaomi market outside China. With fomerly Google’s VP of Product, Hugo Barra as Head of Global Operations at Xiaomi, they will develop the operational area as quickly as possible to Asia, especially in Southeast Asia .

Xiaomi emphasizes the pricing strategies of its products . The company offers high-end smartphone at a low price. In 2012  Xiaomi has sold more than 7 million devices and reap the benefits of more than $ 2 billion . In 2013 , Xiaomi sells 19 million smartphones  and the 2014 target to sell 50 million phones.
