Lu Weibing, the president of the Chinese tech giant, shared a photo on Weibo, posing in front of the SU7 Ultra. He showcased the German license plate and confirmed that Xiaomi’s first EV has completed an experimental car registration in the European country. Based on what we know so far, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is set to launch sometime in 2027.

The social media post further adds that the senior official also test drove the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra electric in Munich. Looking at the image, the license plate carries the “M SU7088E” that clearly showcases its model. Just last month, the brand’s Xiaomi SU7 Ultra was confirmed to drop in Gran Turismo 7. Xiaomi has had ambitious plans for the wider release of its electric vehicles.

To recall, the SU7 Ultra is a high-performance electric sedan that debuted in China for around 73,000 US Dollars. It features an impressive acceleration of 0-100km/h in just 1.98 seconds. The flagship EV can achieve a top speed of 350km/h, m,making it the fastest four door production car. But for those looking for a more reliable experience, the SU7 Ultra can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 11 minutes and offers a 620 km CLTC range.

To recall, Gran Turismo 7 is a sim racing title that was developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony exclusively for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

The game features hundreds of cars from automobile manufacturers across the globe. This includes even supercars and hypercars like the Bugatti Veyron, Formula series, and the Pagani Huayra. But the latest announcement marks the first time a Xiaomi model has entered the Gran Turismo franchise. Xiaomi’s CEO and Founder, Lei Jun, met Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi last month in Beijing, where the Japanese exec even test drove the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra in Xiaomi’s EV factory in Yizhuang.

Xiaomi has officially launched the SU7 Ultra, a high-performance electric sedan priced at 529,900 yuan ($72,988). It features a blistering 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 1.98 seconds and a top speed exceeding 350 km/h, positioning it as the fastest four-door production car.

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Specifications

The SU7 Ultra comes with Xiaomi’s Super Three-Motor System, which equips a dual V8s + V6s all-wheel-drive layout capable of delivering an astonishing 1,548 PS of peak power. Its V8 motor spins at up to 27,200 rpm, ensuring incredible acceleration, while the torque vectoring system enhances handling precision. It sprints from 0-200 km/h in just 5.86 seconds and covers a quarter-mile in 9.23 seconds.

For high-speed stability, the SU7 Ultra sports an aerodynamic package that includes a fixed carbon fiber rear wing, an active rear diffuser, and U-shaped wind blades. It equips a carbon-ceramic braking system with six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers, ensuring exceptional stopping power. It also comes with a Nürburgring-tuned chassis and adjustable coilover suspension to further enhance its driving dynamics.

Inside, the SU7 Ultra features a premium, racing-inspired cabin with 5m² of Alcantara microfiber upholstery and carbon fiber accents. Xiaomi has officially announced its “Ultra” launch event scheduled for Feb. 27 at 7pm (local time), where two of its most premium products will be unveiled—the Xiaomi 15 Ultra smartphone and the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra electric car. According to the latest information, both devices represent the pinnacle of Xiaomi’s technology, with significant advancements in imaging and performance.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is set to be the brand’s most advanced smartphone yet, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a Leica quad-camera system. A major upgrade is the periscope telephoto lens, reportedly equipped with a 200-megapixel sensor supporting 100x AI-enhanced zoom for detailed long-range shots. The phone’s official renders reveal a dual-tone design with a silver and black finish, along with a circular camera module carrying the Leica branding.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has hinted at a price increase over the 14 Ultra, which launched at 6,499 Yuan (~$900), due to rising development and component costs.

The SU7 Ultra, Xiaomi’s most expensive product to date, boasts a tri-motor setup (V8s+V8s+V6s) generating a staggering 1,548hp. Xiaomi has retained the same chassis, motor, and battery pack from the concept version for its production model.

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi will also introduce the RedmiBook Pro 16 2025, a professional-grade laptop designed for the AI era. It features the Xiaomi AIPC engine, enabling seamless Apple device file transfers and intelligent system optimisations. The laptop is expected to come in at least two colour options—white and blue—while maintaining a minimalist design with an ultra-thin bezel display. Xiaomi positions it as a high-performance notebook with enhanced battery life and a focus on productivity, and it will go on sale immediately after the launch event.

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra’s Record Run

The Chinese tech giant took its Xiaomi SUV 7 Ultra for a spin at the SIC, where it clocked in an impressive lap time of 2:09.94. This was a new record for production cars on this track, across different power types. The SUV 7 Ultra EV beat out the previous title holder which was the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. For those unaware, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT managed to complete the 5.45km (3.39 miles) track in 2:11.28.

In a video recording shared by Xiaomi (Via Carscoops), the SU7 Ultra can be seen reaching 323 km/h (201mph) on the straight stretch of the track. To recall, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra could make its global showcase at the upcoming MWC 2025 event. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra electric sedan is equipped with a triple motor setup (V8s + V8s + V6s), delivering an impressive 1,548 horsepower. It can hit 0-100km/h acceleration time in just 1.98 seconds and 0-200km/h acceleration in just 5.86 seconds.

The world’s first CATL Kirin II powers this model, allowing for exceptional power delivery. This record run also backs Xiaomi’s claims of the SU7 Ultra featuring a track optimized braking system that can bring the car to a complete from 100 km/h in just 25 meters. The first sale of the Ultra is set to kick off soon, starting from around 800,000 Yuan price tag (roughly 110,000 US Dollars).

The SU7 Ultra breaks another record

The SU7 Ultra set a record as the fastest four-door car at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in October. Now it challenges Shanghai International Circuit with a lap time of 2:9.994. Pre-orders for the sedan opened in October, with a starting price of CNY 814,900 (approximately $111,000). Deliveries will begin once the car officially debuts alongside the Xiaomi 15 Ultra later this month.

Xiaomi has ambitious plans for its car business, aiming to sell 300,000 vehicles this year, including 10,000 SU7 Ultras. This would double its sales from 2024, marking a significant step forward for the tech giant’s automotive ambitions.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is a photography-focused powerhouse

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra on the other hand, is shaping up to be a beast. Expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the phone will feature a quad-camera setup, including a 50 MP main shooter with a 1-inch sensor, a 50 MP ultrawide, a 50 MP short-range telephoto, and a 200 MP long-range periscope telephoto.

The 200 MP periscope lens, with 4.3x optical zoom, and the Sony LYT-900 primary sensor promise significant improvements in low-light and zoom photography. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has already shared sample images highlighting the phone’s night photography capabilities, further building anticipation.

The phone is rumored to pack a massive 6,000 mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. However, the global version, set to launch at MWC Barcelona on March 2, might feature a slightly smaller 5,410 mAh battery.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun handed out red envelopes to employees, featuring the word “Ultra,” confirming the arrival of new Ultra models. At the same time, Xiaomi’s official Weibo handle and company executives, namely Lu Weibing, Wang Teng Thomas, and a few others have officially confirmed that the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra car and the Xiaomi 15 Ultra smartphone will be announced in China by the end of this month.

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, 15 Ultra may launch on February 26

Recently, a leaked poster revealed that Xiaomi will hold a launch event at 7 pm (local time) on Feb. 26 in China. This event will likely see the arrival of the SU7 and 15 Ultra. The brand is expected to officially confirm the launch date in the next few days. Both offerings are also expected to be showcased at MWC 2025, which will be held at the start of March in Barcelona, Spain.

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra electric sedan is positioned as Xiaomi’s most powerful car. It is equipped with a triple-motor setup (V8s + V8s + V6s), delivering an impressive 1,548 horsepower. Xiaomi 15 Ultra

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to be the company’s most advanced smartphone yet. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite and feature a Leica-branded quad-camera system. The rear cameras will include a 50-megapixel one-inch main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 50-megapixel 3x periscope telephoto, and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, making it a powerhouse for mobile photography.

It will also sport a 2K quad-curved OLED display from TCL CSOT, a 6,000mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, eSIM support, and satellite communication support. The phone is expected to start at around 6,499 Yuan (~$890) and will compete with flagship devices like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, Vivo X200 Ultra, and Oppo Find X8 Ultra.

Xiaomi introduced the SU7 Ultra as a prototype in July. Three months later, the high-performance electric sedan made its official debut in China today, with some impressive figures to share.

With an impressive 1,500 horsepower and a sub-2-second 0-to-100 km/h acceleration time, the SU7 Ultra sets new standards in electric vehicle performance—though it comes at a premium price. Here’s a closer look at the details.

Design and Aerodynamics

The SU7 Ultra builds upon the design of the standard SU7 sedan with a focus on enhanced aerodynamics. It features sportier bumpers, a prominent rear spoiler measuring 1.56 meters wide, and a wider body compared to its counterpart.

These modifications, along with an active rear diffuser, contribute to a claimed downforce of 265 kilograms. The SU7 Ultra rides on 21-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero 5 tires.

Inside, the SU7 Ultra offers a blend of luxury and performance-oriented touches. The seats are wrapped in Alcantara leather which extends to the steering wheel, door cards, and other interior elements. Xiaomi is also using carbon fiber for interior parts such as doorstep panels, center tunnel components, and the rearview mirror.

Powertrain and Performance

The SU7 Ultra is powered by a CATL-made Qilin 2.0 battery with a capacity of 93.7 kWh. The battery is claimed to have a maximum discharge power of 1,330 kW and supports an impressive 5.2C DC fast-charging rate for a 10-80% charge in just 11 minutes. 

The battery feeds a trio of electric motors – two V8s and one V6s – that together generate 1,138 kW (1,526 hp) power and a peak torque of 1,770 Nm. The setup allows SU7 Ultra to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds, reach 200 km/h in 5.86 seconds and achieve a top speed of 350 km/h. 

The SU7 Ultra also boasts a quarter-mile time of 9.23 seconds and features an Asil-D torque vectoring system for improved handling.  

Braking System and Competition

Xiaomi has equipped the SU7 Ultra with the largest carbon ceramic brake discs yet seen on a production car. The front discs measure 430 mm x 40 mm, while the rear discs are slightly smaller at 410 mm x 32 mm. 

These brakes are designed to withstand extreme temperatures of over 1,300°C (2,372°F) and are paired with Akebono calipers (six-piston front, four-piston rear) for exceptional stopping power. Impressively, the SU7 Ultra can brake from 100 km/h to a complete stop in just 30.8 meters.

While the SU7 Ultra Prototype achieved a record-breaking lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the production version is expected to be slightly slower due to its increased weight. The prototype utilized a carbon fiber body which resulted in a curb weight of 1,900 kg.  

Price and Availability

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra carries a hefty price tag of 814,900 yuan (approximately 114,200 USD) in China.  While pre-orders are already open, volume production and deliveries are not expected to begin until March 2025.  

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun positioned the SU7 Ultra as a compelling alternative to the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, as it offers more power at a lower price point. The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is priced at 1,998,000 yuan in China.  

Goldman Sachs projects that SU7 Ultra will reach 4,000 units in sales by 2025. The vehicle already seems to be a success in China as 3,680 reservations have already been made within 10 minutes after the launch event had ended.

This translates to exhilarating performance, with the SUV capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.97 seconds and reaching a top speed exceeding 350 km/h. The braking system is equally impressive, with a stopping distance of 25 meters from 100 km/h.

Xiaomi has scheduled a significant launch event for the end of October, during which they will introduce the Xiaomi 15 series and Xiaomi Pad 7 series, alongside other anticipated products. This event may also shed light on the SU7 Ultra’s journey, as well as the broader Xiaomi EV roadmap.

Xiaomi’s electric vehicle, the SU7, achieved impressive sales of around 16,000 units in September, marking the fourth consecutive month of surpassing 10,000 units. The company, aiming to reach a 20,000-unit target in October, has optimized production lines with AI and smart manufacturing to enhance efficiency. Competing with Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y, the SU7 appeals to consumers with its affordability, advanced technology, and AI driving assistance.
