Xiaomi has launched the Watch S5 46mm for global markets alongside its new 17T series smartphones. The new smartwatch runs on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 and introduces several hardware updates, including a brighter display, a high-capacity battery, and a few specialized fitness features.

The watch maintains a standard circular design with a 316L stainless steel frame. It weighs 46 grams and is 10.99mm thick. The screen is a 1.48-inch AMOLED display with a 480 x 480 resolution and peak brightness of 2,500 nits. The bezels are 2.6mm thick, which the company says is a 40% reduction from the previous model. The screen also includes wet-touch protection to stop water droplets from registering as taps.

Inside, the Watch S5 has an 815mAh battery. Xiaomi estimates up to 21 days of battery life for light usage. For standard use, the estimate is 14 days, and that drops to 9 days if the always-on display is active.

For fitness tracking, the watch supports over 150 sports modes and uses an updated dual-band, five-system GNSS chip for outdoor routing. It includes offline map support and a backtracking feature. Xiaomi added a cycling mode that syncs data to a smartphone to act as a bike computer, and it connects to third-party Bluetooth power meters.

There is also a skiing mode with fall detection that contacts emergency services if the user is unresponsive for 60 seconds. Another specific addition is Passion mode, which tracks gestures like clapping and arm waving during sporting events to calculate calories burned while cheering.

The health tracking system uses a new four-LED, four-PD sensor for heart rate and blood oxygen monitoring. Xiaomi says the heart rate tracking is 98.4% accurate. The company also worked with international sleep societies to update its sleep tracking algorithms. Running on HyperOS 3, the watch connects to the Xiaomi Smart Hub for smart home control, remote camera operation, and NFC payments through Mastercard and Visa.

Pricing and Availability

The Xiaomi Watch S5 46mm is available now. The Black and Silver models cost €179.99 / £149.99. The Jungle Green and Ceramic Blue versions, which have different strap materials and bezel finishes, are priced at €199.99 / £169.99.

Alongside the Xiaomi Book Pro 14, Xiaomi today announced the Xiaomi Watch S5 as its “all-around sports watch with long battery life.”

The Watch S5 starts at 1,199 yuan (~ $175) for the base model and 1,399 yuan (~ $205) for the eSIM variant. You can choose from black and silver for the standard model, while the eSIM variant comes in Forged Carbon and Midnight Blue.

Xiaomi Watch S5 Specifications

The Watch S5 has an integrated bezel design with a 316L stainless steel body. The Midnight Blue version comes in a ceramic bezel with 24 facets, while the Forged Carbon option uses a layered forging process. The crown has a concentric-circle design.

There are three stainless steel bezel versions, with different strap combinations depending on the model. The black and silver options come with fluoroelastomer straps, while the eSIM variant pairs a silver case with a gray leather strap.

On the hardware side, the Watch S5 uses a new four-light, four-PD sensor setup, which the company claims delivers 98.4 percent heart rate accuracy. Its sleep tracking uses a new algorithm that improves sleep onset and wake detection by around 11 percent.

The display is a 1.48-inch AMOLED panel with a 480 × 480 resolution and peak brightness of up to 2,500 nits. The watch has a dual-frequency GNSS chip for improved location accuracy, along with a new cycling mode that supports cycling computer features and third-party Bluetooth power meters.

The Watch S5 offers a runtime of up to 21 days. And like most of Xiaomi’s recent devices, the Watch S5 is tightly integrated into its broader ecosystem. It also works with the Xiaomi Auto app, including support for newer vehicles like the Xiaomi SU7 and YU7.

Last but not least, the watch can also link with Xiaomi smart door locks, letting users view camera footage directly from their wrists.

Xiaomi is preparing for a multi-product launch event in China, where it will unveil a new laptop, a smartwatch, and an electric vehicle. The event is scheduled for March 19 at 7 PM Beijing time, and ahead of that, the company has started sharing early details about what to expect.

Xiaomi Book Pro 14

At the center of the announcement is the Xiaomi Book Pro 14. The device is confirmed to feature a 14.6-inch OLED panel with a 3.1K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1600 nits of brightness. 

The Book Pro 14 is light at just 1.08kg and is paired with a thin chassis design. Powering it is Intel’s third-generation Core Ultra X7 358H processor. And storage option goes up to 4TB via multiple drive slots and an additional M.2 SSD slot.

Moreover, the laptop has a large pressure-sensitive touchpad designed to support gesture controls. Its port options include Thunderbolt 4, USB Type-C, USB Type-A, HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 

For cooling, Xiaomi is using a vapor chamber system with dual fans and a triple air-duct setup. The company says it can sustain up to 50W of performance under load.

Alongside the laptop, Xiaomi will introduce the Xiaomi Watch S5. The wearable features a redesigned sensor system that uses multiple light sources and photodiodes to improve biometric readings. Xiaomi claims its updated heart rate algorithm can achieve up to 94 percent accuracy.

Sleep tracking is done via a new algorithm designed to better detect when users fall asleep and wake up. On the fitness side, the watch supports over 150 sports modes and uses a dual-frequency GNSS chip for more accurate location tracking across multiple satellite systems, including GPS and Galileo.

Xiaomi says the Watch S5 can last up to 21 days in Bluetooth mode, or around 14 days when using eSIM connectivity, thanks to a large 815mAh battery.

The March 19 event will also include the debut of the next version of the Xiaomi SU7 electric car.

Xiaomi has revealed the design and key features of the upcoming Xiaomi Watch S5, a new sports smartwatch that focuses on durability, refined materials, and long battery life. The company says the watch will launch later this month.

The Xiaomi Watch S5 features a redesigned structure built around an integrated bezel and a forged 316L stainless steel body. This material is known for strong corrosion resistance and durability, helping the watch handle daily wear. The integrated bezel design also allows the body to be slimmer than previous models while keeping a solid and premium build.

Unlike earlier models that used modular parts, the Watch S5 uses a non-removable bezel. This helps reduce the border around the display and increases the visible screen area. The unibody bezel design also makes the watch thinner, which improves comfort when worn daily or with formal clothing.

Xiaomi will offer several bezel designs and finishes. Two key options are Midnight Blue and Forged Carbon. The Midnight Blue bezel uses ceramic material with white glazed time markers. It also features 24 carved facets that create a polished look. The Forged Carbon version uses a layered forging process that produces a unique texture and a more sporty appearance.

The smartwatch will also come in three stainless steel bezel versions. The black and silver variants have a clean design and are paired with fluororubber straps, which are suitable for sports and daily use. The silver eSIM model comes with a gray genuine leather strap for a more classic style.

The crown features a concentric-circle texture, adding detail to the design. Xiaomi also includes several watch faces inspired by traditional analog watches. These watch faces use elements such as Roman numerals and moon phase complications.

Xiaomi says the sensors on the Watch S5 have been fully upgraded to provide more accurate health monitoring. The watch can also function as a control center on the wrist, allowing users to control compatible smart home devices and connected cars. Battery life is another highlight. Xiaomi claims the Watch S5 can deliver up to 21 days of use on a single charge.

In China, the pricing is expected to be close to that of the previous Xiaomi Watch S4. The Bluetooth variant could start at around 999 yuan, while the eSIM model may be priced at approximately 1,199 yuan. Xiaomi has not shared any information about a global release yet. However, since the company recently launched the Xiaomi Watch 5 in global markets, the Xiaomi Watch S5 is also expected to arrive internationally in the coming months.
