Sony has announced two new mid-range smartphones at MWC 2019. They are the Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus and they come with Sony’s new 21:9 aspect ratio display called CinemaWide.

Design

Both phones share the same design although the Xperia 10 Plus is bigger. Sony has shaved off the bezels on all the sides save for the forehead.

The side-mounted fingerprint scanner which a number of manufacturers have now adopted is available on both phones. Dual cameras sit on the rear in a black housing and in the middle of the device.

Xperia 10 Specs

The Xperia 10 has a 6.0-inch FHD+ display. It is powered by the Snapdragon 630 paired with 3GB of RAM. There is 64GB of onboard storage and you can add up to an additional 512GB via a MicroSD card slot.

The selfie camera is an 8MP f/2.0 sensor with support for screen flash. The rear cameras include a 13MP wide-angle sensor and a 5MP f/2.4 sensor. The phone can record in 4K, supports 5X digital zoom, 120fps slow-motion recording, portrait mode, and 21:9 video recording.

There is a 2,870mAh battery under the hood with support for fast charging. It also has NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, and Hi-Res audio. It runs Android 9 pie out of the box.

Xperia 10 Plus Specs

The Xperia 10 Plus has a larger 6.5-inch FHD+ screen with Gorilla Glass 5. It swaps the Snapdragon 630 for the Snapdragon 636 which is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.

Its rear cameras include a 12MP f/1.75 wide-angle sensor and an 8MP f/2.4 sensor. It has the same camera features of the Xperia 10 and adds 2x optical zoom. The front-facing camera is the same 8MP sensor.

Its battery is a bit bigger at 3,000mAh with support for USB Power Delivery. Connectivity features are the same. It will be available in single SIM and dual SIM variants and also runs Android 9 Pie out of the box.

Price and Availability

The Xperia 10 is priced at $349.99 while the Xperia 10 Plus will sell for $429.99. The former will come in Black, Navy blue, Pink, and Silver, while the Xperia 10 Plus will be available in Black, Navy Blue, Gold, and Silver.

Availability is scheduled for March 18 in the US. There is no info for other markets yet.

The dual cameras are expected to carry support for 4K video shooting. The handset may come with a front-facing camera of 8-megapixel. It is may house a 2,870mAh battery. The Xperia 10 will include support for Hi-Res audio and it will also feature a 3.5mm audio jack. It is expected to arrive in Europe with a price tag of 349 euros (~$393).

Sony Xperia 10 Plus Specifications and Price

The Xperia 10 Plus is expected to feature a 6.5-inch display with 21:9 aspect ratio. It will also carry support for full HD+ resolution. The more powerful Snapdragon 660 SoC may drive the Xperia 10 Plus along with 4 GB of RAM. It will be equipped with an internal storage of 64 GB. There is an external storage slot too on the device.

Even though the main sensor of the Xperia 10 Plus’ dual camera setup is of 12-megapixel which is slightly lower compared to the Xperia 10, the publication claims it is a highly quality lens. It will be complemented by 8-megapixel secondary sensor. It may feature the same selfie snapper that is available on the Xperia 10. There is no information available on the battery capacity of the Xperia 10 Plus. The handset is expected to hit the European markets with a price tag of 429 euros (~$483).
