Sony is one smartphone OEM that has been using the Mobile World Congress (MWC) tech expo platform to announce new smartphones. The Japanese tech giant has now sent out invites for its Feb. 25 event at the MWC 2019 to Russian and Italian media channels. Even though the image press in the invite does not reveal the names of the devices it will be announcing on Feb. 25, speculations are rife that it will be unleashing the Xperia XZ4 handset on the said date. Newer information has claimed that the Xperia XZ4 may go official as Xperia N1.

At MWC 2018, Sony had unveiled the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact smartphones. At the IFA 2018 event in September, it unveiled the Sony Xperia XZ3. The company did not announce the Xperia XZ3 Compact phone alongside it. Few weeks ago, popular tipster @OnLeaks had shared renders of the Xperia XZ4 Compact smartphone. Hence, it was speculated that the Xperia XZ4 and Xperia XZ4 Compact would be announced at the MWC 2019 tech trade show.

Information from the previous week had revealed that the Japanese tech giant will be skipping the Xperia XZ4 Compact. Instead of it, the company may announce the Xperia XA3, Xperia XA3 Ultra and Xperia L3 smartphones along with the Snapdragon 855 powered Xperia XZ4. The probable reason why the company is skipping the XZ4 Compact is that the Sony Mobile Vice President of Marketing for North America, Don Mesa had recently said that the consumers need a lot more surface area for their content now. He had also stated that the upcoming Sony phones will deliver better camera experience.

Sony had unveiled multiple phones such as Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Compact, XZ Premium and Xperia X at MWC 2018. Hence, it is very likely that the Japanese firm may debut multiple smartphones on Feb. 25. Recently, a new case listing for a Sony phone called Xperia N1 was spotted on Amazon Spain recently. The case images revealed that the phone will come equipped with triple rear cameras. Since the images of the phone resembles with Xperia XZ4 renders, it is now being speculated that XZ4 may get unleashed as Xperia N1.

Last year, the Japanese tech giant had announced Xperia XA2, Xperia XA Ultra and Xperia L2. This year also Sony will be present at the CES 2019 event on Jan. 7. It is speculated that the company will announce the Xperia XA3, Xperia XA3 Ultra and Xperia L3 smartphones.

As it can be seen in the below invite, there is no information on the devices that will be announced at Sony’s CES 2019 booth. The event will take place at 5 PM on Jan. 7 at LVCC, Las Vegas.

Sony Xperia XA3 Specifications (Rumor)

Few months ago, at OnLeaks had shared the CAD renders of the upcoming Xperia XA3. It revealed that the handset will be sporting a tall form factor since it will be measuring 155.7 x 68.3 x 8.4mm. It is expected to feature a 5.9-inch full HD+ resolution notch-less screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. It is rumored to be fueled by Snapdragon 660 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. It may come equipped with 23-megpixel + 8-megapixel dual camera setup and front-facing shooter of 8-megapixel. For storage, it may feature an inbuilt storage of 64 GB. The handset may receive power from 3,600mAh battery. It will be preinstalled with Android 9 Pie OS.

Sony Xperia XA3 Ultra Specifications (Rumor)

The larger Sony Xperia XA3 Ultra is expected to come with a 6.5-inch display with full HD+ resolution with 18:9 aspect ratio. It may borrow some specs like chipset and dual camera setup from the Xperia XA3 model. The SoC of the smartphone could be supported by 6 GB of RAM. For capturing selfies, it may feature 13-megapixel frontal shooter. It may draw power from 3,700mAh battery. It could be priced around 519 euros.

Sony Xperia L3 Specifications (Rumor)

The Xperia L3 is expected to house a 5.7-inch display. It could be fueled by Snapdragon 660 or lower chipset. The SoC of the smartphone could be coupled with 3 GB of RAM. Other rumored specs of the phone include 13-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup, 8-megapixel selfie camera and 3,400mAh battery. All the three phones are expected to feature side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Sony, the Japan-based company which has been struggling in the smartphone market, seems to be working towards launching a new smartphone soon. An upcoming smartphone of the company, Sony Xperia L3, recently passed through the FCC certification process.

The mid-range smartphone is the successor of the Xperia L2 launched last month. Given that the phone has already been through the certification processor, there’s a possibility that the company could launch the device at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019 in Las Vegas.

The FCC listing of the smartphone reveals that it will come with a 5.7-inch display having 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it will be powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 660 octa-core chipset along with 3GB RAM.

The phone will be featuring a dual camera setup on the back, consisting of a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The device will also come with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for added security. On the front side, it will feature an 8-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

Sony will be ditching the micro-USB port and will offer USB Type-C port. As for the battery, the device will be powered by a 3,400mAh battery, which should be enough to last through the whole day on a single charge.

According to Droid Shout, Sony will be announcing Sony Xperia XA3, Xperia XA3 Plus and Xperia L3 at (CES) 2019 show. The publication has also shared the color variants and pricing of the upcoming large-sized Xperia XA model.

Multiple leaks have claimed that the Sony Xperia XA3 Ultra will be launching alongside Xperia XA3 and Xperia L3 at CES 2019. However, the publication has mentioned XA3 Plus instead of XA3 Ultra as the one of the Sony devices that are pegged to go official at CES 2019. Could this mean that Sony will releasing the Xperia XA3 Plus instead of XA3 Ultra? Newer leaks are expected to confirm on the names of the Sony phones that will be announced at CES 2019.

There is no information available on the specifications of the Xperia XA3 Plus. The handset is expected to feature an 18:9 aspect ratio display like its predecessor. The Xperia XA2 Plus has Snapdragon 630 onboard. Hence, it is likely that the Japanese tech giant may opt for a more SoC such as Snapdragon 636 or Snapdragon 660 or higher. The Sony Xperia XA3 will be featuring smaller display, lesser RAM, smaller storage and a weaker battery than its larger sibling. However, it could be powered by the same SoC. The handset was spotted on Geekbench a few months ago with Snapdragon 660 chipset onboard.

The Sony Xperia L3 will be an entry-level smartphone. The handset is rumored to feature a 5.7-inch display that supports HD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio.
