Multiple leaks have revealed the specifications of the smartphone in the past few months. The Xperia XZ3 was also found listed on the website of a U.K retailer in July. One of the rumors have claimed that the handset could be equipped with a single 48-megapixel camera on its rear. However, a leaked specifications sheet that has surfaced now states that it will be equipped with dual rear cameras.

The specs sheet of the Xperia XZ3 reveals that its dual camera setup includes f/1.8 aperture 19-megapixel primary sensor and f/1.6 aperture 12-megapixel secondary sensor. It features a front-facing camera of 13-megapixel. The newly spotted leaked document suggests that the XZ3 will be sporting the same dual camera and selfie snapper that is available on the Xperia XZ2 Premium.

The Xperia XZ2 came with 4 GB of RAM, but the successor model is expected to arrive with 6 GB of RAM. It will have an internal storage of 128 GB and a microSD card slot for additional storage.

The Xperia XZ3 will be powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC. The 5.7-inch display that supports FHD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9 that is available on the XZ2 will be also arriving on the successor handset. The handset will be packed with Quick Charge 3.0 enabled 3,240mAh battery.

The leak also reveals that the Xperia XZ3 will be thinner and lighter than its predecessor as it is expected sport to measure 10.1mm in thickness and weigh 183 grams. The XZ2 has a thickness of 11.1 and it weighs 198 grams.

Source: Sony Xperia XZ3 case renders appear to reveal design

Some rumors have claimed that Sony may not launch the aforementioned handset as Xperia XZ3 as it does not contain overhaul improvements when compared to its predecessor phone. Hence, it is speculated that the smartphone could be called Xperia XZ2s. As stated above, the handset is slated to get unveiled at IFA 2018. Hence, it is advisable to wait for further reports to confirm on the moniker of the phone.

Earlier this year, the Kirin 970 SoC powered Huawei phones were seen leading the list of AnTuTu’s best performing smartphones. However, all the 10 phones that have appeared in the top 10 list for July are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. This theoretically shows that SD845 phones can offer better performance than Kirin 970 powered Huawei and Honor phones.

Huawei will be launching 7nm Kirin 980 SoC at IFA 2018. In October, it is expected to debut Kirin 980 driven phones such as Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro. By November, these phones could be available in wider markets. Hence, the Chinese manufacturer may lead the list of AnTuTu’s best performing smartphones by November. Rumors have it that Honor may also debut Honor V11 or V20 as a successor phone for Honor V10 phone from 2017.

At the time of launch, the smaller sibling, the Xperia XZ2 was priced at 5999 Yuan (~$954). Despite the flagship grade specs, this was an exorbitant price considering the competitive nature of the Chinese market as well as the availability of better options. However, just under four months of its release, the Xperia XZ2 is selling for nearly $300 less than its official price tag. China’s leading retailer, JD.com is currently offering the phone for just 3999 Yuan ($584) which is a massive price cut in such a short time span!

At present, only the 6+64GB variant seems to be on sale and you can get it in just one color: Liquid Black. Other colors namely liquid silver, deep green, and ash pink are currently listed as out of stock. After this price cut, the Xperia XZ2 turns out to be a competitive option for high-end buyers.

The phone comes with a double-glass sandwich design featuring a 3D curved back to enhance the grip and a metal frame in the middle. Powered by the top-end Snapdragon 845 chipset inside, the phone features a beautiful 5.7-inch 2160x1080p display with TRILUMINOS, X-Reality Engine and HDR. The XZ2 features a single 19MP motion eye camera which can record 4K HDR and 960 fps slo-mo videos. Other notable features include 3060mAh battery, IP68 water and dust resistance, QC 3.0, Wireless charging, and Android 8.0 Oreo.

Sony’s sales have been dwindling in the past few years with the company even planning to revise its initial estimate from 10 million smartphone sales in 2018 to 9 million after a disappointing Q2 2018. In comparison, the company had sold over 22 million smartphones in 2017.

Rumors have claimed that the handset will be sporting a design that is very similar to the Xperia XZ2 that was unveiled earlier this year. Recent reports have also stated that the Xperia XZ3 will be equipped with dual rear cameras. However, a fresh benchmark reveals that it may arrive with a single rear camera.

A Sony smartphone with model number H8416 has appeared on GFXBench benchmarking site. It reveals that the handset is running on Android 8.0 Oreo. It features a 5.7-inch display that produces Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. This means that the display of Sony H8416 will deliver an aspect ratio of 18:9.

An octa-core processor that clocks at 2.7 GHz powers the smartphone. Since it is equipped with Adreno 630, it is powered by Snapdragon 845. The SoC is coupled with 6 GB of RAM and it has an internal storage of 64 GB.

When it comes to camera, the GFXBench listing shows that the smartphone is equipped 47-megapixel rear camera. There is a front-facing camera of 12-megapixel. Sony has recently unveiled IMX586 48-megapixel sensor. So, the 47-megapixel sensor on the Sony H8416 could be the newly announced Sony camera sensor.

Read More: Sony Xperia XZ3 specs and price appears on online retailer site

All the recent reports of the Sony Xperia XZ3 have said that it will be featuring the very same dual camera setup that is available on the Xperia XZ2 Premium. Moreover, the GFXBench listing for the Sony H8416 is not available on its website. There is a possibility that it could be a photoshopped image or the Japanese tech giant could be prepping up two devices. The first one could be XZ3 with dual rear cameras and the other one with single rear camera.

It is advisable to digest the report with a grain t of salt and wait for newer reports to confirm on the Sony phone with 48-megapixel rear camera.

It is speculated that the Japanese tech giant may announce it at the upcoming IFA 2018 tech expo in Berlin, Germany. Fresh information also reveals that the company is also working on a successor for the Xperia XZ2 Premium that was made official in April.

The alleged Sony Xperia XZ3 was spotted on GFXBench with a model number of H8416. A new model number of H8616 has appeared on what appears to be the UAProf from Sony’s website. The listing reveals that the handset supports a resolution of 3840 x 1920 pixels which means it supports an aspect ratio of 18:9.

The resolution of H8616 does not match with the 4K resolution of 4320 x 2160 pixels that is available on Xperia XZ2 Premium smartphone. Another thing that has been found about the new H8616 smartphone is that it is loaded with the upcoming Android 9.0.

There is no information available on the other specifications of the H8616 smartphone. However, it may come with features like Snapdragon 845, 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, 19-megapixel + 12-megapixel Motion Eye dual camera and 13-megapixel frontal shooter that are expected to arrive on Xperia XZ3.

As of this writing, there is no confirmation on whether the Sony H8616 smartphone will be arriving in the market as Xperia XZ3 Premium. There is a possibility that it may debut with some other moniker since its screen resolution does not coincide with that of Xperia XZ2 Premium.

At the upcoming IFA 2018 event, the Japanese firm may introduce the rumored Xperia XZ3 and XZ3 Compact smartphones. The launch of the rumored Xperia XZ3 Premium could be set in November.

Since Sony follows a pattern of launching smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February and IFA tech trade show in September, it is expected to unleash a new flagship phone at the upcoming IFA 2018 event is scheduled to be held between Aug. 31 and Sept. 5 later this year. Earlier this week, a leaked specs sheet of the rumored Xperia XZ3 smartphone had surfaced online. Some rumors claim that the handset may either debut as Xperia XZ3 or Xperia XZ2s. Today, fresh photos of a prototype of the alleged XZ3 phone have emerged today. Design-wise, the smartphone appears very similar to the XZ2. However, one major difference between the two phones is that the upcoming XZ3 features a vertical dual camera setup on its rear.

Nothing much can be deduced from the front image of the phone. It only shows that its top bezel is equipped with an earpiece and a selfie camera. Since the handset looks like the Xperia XZ2, it is likely that the XZ3 will feature an 18:9 display with thick bezels on its sides. The second image shows the rear view of the phone, but it is so blurry that it only confirms that it has a glossy/reflective back panel.

The third and fourth images show the vertically dual camera setup of the alleged Xperia XZ3. The two cameras and the fingerprint scanner appear to be arranged very close to each other. The right edge of the phone houses the power key and volume rocker.

For those wondering what the battery life for these two devices are, your question has been answered by the guys at Phonearena.

Before diving in, let’s revisit the battery capacities for each device. The Xperia XZ2 comes with a 3180mAh battery which is a significant upgrade over the Xperia XZ1‘ 2700mAh. The XZ2 Compact on the other hand comes with a 2870mAh battery. Its predecessor has a 2700mAh battery too.

The Xperia XZ2 is able to last 8 hrs 54 minutes on a single charge. That is over 1 hr more than the Xperia Xz1 which may seem small until you remember that the XZ2 has a larger 5.7” FHD+ display as against the 5.2” FHD screen of the XZ1.

The Xperia XZ2 Compact lasts 9 hrs and 13 minutes on a single charge. That is a good two hours less than that of the Xperia XZ1 Compact. However, the XZ2 Compact has a bigger 5.0” FHD+ display compared to the 4.6” HD screen of the XZ1 Compact.

When compared to the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, both of the new Xperia phones last longer. They also surpass the iPhone 8, iPhone X, and OnePlus 5T, but trail behind the iPhone 8 Plus.

A depleted battery needs to be recharged, so how quickly it does so is equally important. Sadly, the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact don’t do very well in this test.

The Xperia XZ2 takes 145 minutes to charge to full while the Xperia XZ2 Compact takes 144 minutes even though they both come with QC 3.0 chargers. Both phones still charge in less time than their predecessors.

However, they are no match for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ which charge way faster. The OnePlus 5T is still the fastest thanks to Dash Charge.

So there you have it, the battery life and charging duration of Sony’s newest phones compared to 2018 and 2017 flagships.

The flagship phone which was unveiled at MWC 2018 doesn’t have an audio jack. So you are left with listening to audio files over Bluetooth, through an USB-C audio dongle or via a pair of USB-C headphones. If you choose either of the last two, that means you can’t charge and use your headphones at the same time.

Sony wants you to be able to use your 3.5mm headphones and charge your phone at the same time (at least that’s the idea), so it made the USB Type-C 2-in-1 Cable EC270 – a dongle that has 3.5mm and USB-C input ports at one end for your earphones and charging cable respectively, and a USB-C connector that plugs into your phone at the other end.

All you have to do is plug in your earphone and charging cable to the dongle and connect it to your phone and you can listen and charge at the same time.

The problem is that while you will do the former, you may not be charging your phone seeing as the dongle’s power output is limited to 5V/0.5A (2.5W)! We don’t have to explain how that power rating practically doesn’t translate to your phone charging especially if you are using the phone at the same time.

Sony may have an excuse for keeping the charging speed that low, as a higher one may interfere with the audio but it doesn’t make it right. It simply won’t work and when you think about the €19.90 (~$24.50) price tag slapped on it, it makes it worse.

Sony had unleashed the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact flagship smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 tech expo in the previous month. The model number of the Xperia XZ2 is Sony H8296. The same model number was recently certified in China which indicates that the arrival of the handset is close at hand. Latest news reveals that Sony will be keeping a press event in Hong Kong, China later this month. It is speculated that the company would be using the platform to launch Xperia XZ2 in the country. Unfortunately, the Xperia XZ2 Compact will not be arriving in the country.

Recent reports have revealed that the standard international edition of the Sony Xperia XZ2 has 4 GB of RAM. However, the U.S., U.K., Canada, China and Taiwan will all receive 6 GB RAM version of the smartphone. The 6 GB RAM variant was also spotted on a couple of times recently on the Geekbench benchmarking platform.

However, it has no revealed the pricing of XZ2 and XZ2 Compact for Germany.

In Germany, the Xperia XZ2 will be selling with a pricing of 800 euros (~$978). It will be costing 100 euros (~$122) more than the Xperia XZ1 smartphone that was unveiled in August last year. This indicates that the Xperia XZ2 may arrive in the U.S. with a price tag of $800 for the unlocked model.

The Xperia XZ2 includes 5.7-inch Full HD+ display and it is powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 64 GB. It features a 19-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel selfie snapper. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and is packed with a 3,180mAh battery.

On the other side, the Xperia XZ2 Compact will be available for 600 euros (~$733) in Germany. The predecessor phone was launched with the same pricing. This indicates that the unlocked Xperia XZ2 Compact may arrive in the U.S. with the same pricing as predecessor model. Hence, it is speculated to hit the U.S. market with a price tag of $600.

The Xperia XZ2 Compact features the same chipset, RAM, storage and cameras that are present on the Xperia XZ2 handset. It features a 5-inch display that offers FHD+ resolution and it is powered by 2,870mAh battery.

Both phones are the first Sony smartphones to come with the trending 18:9 display. But the Xperia XZ2 duo pack more than a full-screen display.

Xperia XZ2

Design

Gone are the huge bezels that defined the OmniBalance design of Sony phones. In its place are smaller bezels in a new design Sony has dubbed “Ambient Flow”.

Ambient Flow not only brings smaller bezels, but also brings more curves. The corners are curved and the back is curved too. This allows for a more comfortable grip and feel in the hand.

Another major design change is the fingerprint scanner which now sits at the back instead of on the side and doesn’t seem to be market dependent anymore.

Even with the new design, both phones are still different. The Xperia XZ2 has Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides. While it does give it a premium appearance, it makes it slippery and a fingerprint magnet.

The Xperia XZ2 compact on the other hand has a polycarbonate back with a matte finish. Won’t turn eyes but won’t slide off the table too.

Xperia XZ2 Compact

Specs

The Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact both sport 5.7” and 5.0” 18:9 displays. Both are FHD+ screens but the compact has a higher PPI due to its smaller size. The displays also support HDR.

Under the glass or polycarbonate back is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 mobile platform paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Storage is expandable up to 400GB via a hybrid dual SIM slot.

They both have NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi, and USB 3.1 Type-C ports. There is no audio jack on either phones but they come with stereo front facing speakers. Sony will ship both phones with a Y-shaped USB-C adapter that allows you charge and use a 3.5mm connector at the same time.

Battery capacity on the Xperia XZ2 is 3180mAh with support for wireless charging while the XZ2 Compact comes with a 2870mAh battery without wireless charging support.

Cameras

The cameras on the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact are pretty important and deserve their own separate section.

Sony has kept the sensors from last year’s models. It is a 19MP Sony IMX400 f/2.0 sensor. It also keeps all of the key features like 5-axis stabilization, hybrid laser-phase detection-contrast autofocus, and burst autofocus. The dedicated physical camera button remains too.

Sony has worked with Qualcomm on image processing. This has resulted in a new BIONZ image processing algorithm which handles colors, details, and noise reduction for low light images.

Another new feature is that the cameras can now record 960fps slo-motion at 1080p and also record 4K HDR videos. For the former, the duration of recording in slo-motion FHD is half that of 720p.

The front camera is a 5MP f/2.2 23mm wide-angle sensor. It also supports 3D creator like the rear camera.

Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact Price and Availability

The Xperia XZ2 will come in Liquid Black, Liquid Silver, Deep Green, and Ash Pink. The compact will come in Black, Coral Pink, and Moss Green.

Both are scheduled to arrive in late March or early April but pricing has not been revealed.

While the company has not revealed what it plans to launch during the event, Evan Blass suggests that the company will be launching the Xperia XZ2 and the Xperia XZ2 Compact.

Along with that, he has also leaked the press render of the Sony Xperia XZ2, showing off the new design adopted by the Japan-based company. The Xperia XZ2 comes with a 3D glass on both sides, front as well as back, along with an aluminum frame.

Both the devices will have a larger screen-to-body ratio than any previous Xperia devices, thanks to the adaptation of 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone has a glossy finish and will be available in four different colors — black, silver, green, and pink.

According to the leak, the Xperia XZ2 will feature a 5.7-inch display while the smaller variant, dubbed as Xperia XZ2 Compact, will sport a 5.0-inch display. Both models will have Full HD LCD display with 18:9 aspect ratio and a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top for protection.

Under the hood, both phones will be powered by Qualcomm‘s latest Snapdragon 845 processor — the same chipset that is expected to power the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The company is reportedly ditching the button-based fingerprint sensor and just like its recently launched Xperia XA2 series devices, the fingerprint sensor on the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact will be placed on the back panel.

Both phones are expected to come equipped with the same 19-megapixel camera sensor with ƒ/1.8 aperture from the XZ Premium. The camera is capable of 4K HDR recording and super-slow motion capture in Full HD resolution. The devices will be running on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system with the company’s own custom skin on top. While the XZ2 features a 3,180mAh battery, the XZ2 Compact has a smaller 2,870mAh battery.

Apart from the display size and battery capacity, there doesn’t seem to be much difference between Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact. However, there is certainly a difference in build quality, is the latest leak is to be believed. Apparently, the XZ2 will have glass on both sides and will support wireless charging while the XZ2 Compact will feature a polycarbonate case back and won’t be supporting wireless charging.

For the pricing and availability details related to Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact, we’ll have to wait for Sony to officially announces them at Mobile World Congress on Monday.

A Swedish website has revealed information like pricing, release date and key specs of both the smartphones.

According to Swedroid, Xperia XZ2 is packed with a 5.7-inch display that is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 5. It produces an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is likely that the handset may support Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels.

The Snapdragon 845 chipset will be powering the phone along with 4 GB of RAM. The Android 8.0 Oreo OS will come pre-installed on the phone and it will be lacking the 3.5mm audio jack. It is rumored to include a native storage of 64 GB. The website claims that the handset would be priced around 799 euros (~$985).

The Xperia XZ2 Compact could be a smaller edition of the Xperia XZ2. It is speculated to arrive with a 5-inch display that will be producing Full HD+ resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Like the XZ2, it won’t be featuring a 3.5mm audio jack. It is expected to arrive preloaded with Android 8.0 Oreo. It is also rumored to feature Snapdragon 845 and 4 GB of RAM. It is also speculated to announce a small-sized Xperia XZ2 Compact smartphone with flagship specs. A new filing with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the U.S. shows that the company has sought permission to redesign one of its upcoming Android phones.

On Feb. 7, Sony had approached FCC to dismiss its grants for an upcoming device that has an FCC ID of PY7-00718V in order to change its design. However, there is no information available on what sort of design change Sony wants to do on its upcoming phone. The device has already bagged FCC certification, but since it hasn’t been launched yet, the telecom regulatory is likely to fulfil the request of dismissing the grant.

Since the Japanese tech giant has requested FCC quite recently, it seems that it won’t be making any major change to the design as its Feb. 26 launch event is drawing near. However, the change seems to be urgent enough that the company decided to approach FCC for it few weeks before its launch.

Recent reports have revealed that the upcoming Sony flagships won’t be sporting the OmniBalance design that it has been using on its smartphones since 2013. The Xperia XZ2 Pro and Xperia XZ2 are likely speculated to arrive with the trendy full screen design.

In December 2017, it had appeared on Geekbench benchmarking site. Also, a leaked image showing its entire specs had also surfaced in the same month. All the past leaks surrounding the Sony H8266 suggest that it could be the forthcoming Xperia XZ2 flagship phone. Its appearance on AnTuTu has revealed some of its key specs.

The below snapshot reveals that the Sony H8266 features a display that support FHD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. It means that the smartphone would be offering an aspect ratio of 18:9. The Snapdragon 845 chipset and 4 GB of RAM are present under the hood of the phone and it has an inbuilt storage of 64 GB. The smartphone has reportedly recorded an average benchmarking score of more than 200,000 AnTuTu.

The lower variant is speculated to feature 4 GB of RAM, a native storage of 64 GB and a 3,210mAh battery. The advanced model is likely to arrive with 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of inbuilt storage and a bigger battery of 3,240mAh capacity.

Both the models are expected to arrive with 5.48-inch display that will support 18:9 aspect ratio. These variants are also speculated to come with common specs like Android 8.1 Oreo, microSD card support and IP65/IP68 certified body.

Recently, an Irish carrier representative had accidentally revealed that Sony would be launching the Xperia XZ2 smartphone. Hence, it is speculated that the Xperia XZ2 would be unleashed at MWC 2018. The rumor mill has been also talking about another premium flagship called Xperia XZ Pro. Some rumors have referred to this handset as Xperia XZ2 Pro. A smartphone with the same moniker has appeared on HTML benchmark test to reveal some key specs.

As it can be seen in the below screengrab, the Sony Xperia XZ2 Pro has a model number of H8116. The handset is running on Android 8.1 Oreo. It has a screen resolution of 848 x 424. Since it is a ratio of 2:1, it is quite evident that the Xperia XZ2 Pro would be supporting an aspect ratio of 18:9. This also suggests that the Japanese tech giant will be finally ditching the OmniBalance design that it has been using for its smartphones since 2013 to embrace the new full screen design.

The other Sony handset with model number Sony H8166 could be a variant of the H8116 phone.

The Snapdragon 845 chipset could be present under the hood of the Sony H8116 smartphone.
After getting unveiled at the MWC 2018, the smartphone may arrive in the market in June with a price tag of around 6,000 Yuan (~$950). The Xperia XZ2 may sport the same design and may also feature Snapdragon 845, but its other specs may not be as advanced as Xperia XZ2 Pro. Since the company had unveiled mid-range Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Ultra and Xperia L2 smartphones at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 in the previous month, the company is heavily pegged to unleash flagship phones at MWC 2018. Recent leaks have revealed that the Japanese tech giant will be unleashing Xperia XZ Pro smartphone at MWC 2018. Some rumors have claimed that the Sony Xperia XZ2 may also get unveiled alongside the Xperia XZ Pro. An accidental tweet by an Irish mobile operator has revealed the Xperia XZ2 could indeed be the one of the new phones arriving at MWC 2018.

While replying to a user, Three Ireland’s representative said that the Xperia XZ2 is coming soon. The tweet that was posted on Feb. 2 by the Irish mobile operator is no longer accessible. The probable reason why the tweet might have been deleted is that the Xperia XZ2 is an unannounced smartphone.

The Sony Xperia XZ1 flagship was unveiled to the world at IFA 2017 tech trade show in September last year. Hence, the Xperia XZ2 is pegged to arrive as a successor for the Xperia XZ1. The Xperia XZ Pro is speculated to debut as a premium flagship phone that will be featuring 4K OLED display. The Xperia XZ2 may not be as advanced as Xperia XZ Pro. Hence, it may arrive with a 5.2-inch or a 5.5-inch LCD display that will carry support for FHD or FHD+ resolution.

Like the recent Sony flagships, the Xperia XZ2 is likely to arrive with an IP68 rated water-resistant and dustproof chassis. The Snapdragon 845 chipset may power the phone along with 4 GB of RAM. The handset may sport full screen design, dual rear cameras and a rear-mounted fingerprint reader.

Rumors have it that these phones will be accompanied by a smaller flagship phone called Xperia XZ2 Compact. The alleged handset has recently bagged certification from Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the U.S. A leaked image showing the alleged Xperia XZ2 Compact being tested has also surfaced.

The image seems to show the rumored Xperia XZ2 Compact with thick bezels at the top and bottom sides of the display. However, they do not seem to be as thick as seen on previous models from Sony. There is no confirmation on whether it will be supporting an aspect ratio of 18:9. The Xperia XZ Pro and Xperia XZ2 are rumored to feature 18:9 display. So, there is a possibility that the Xperia XZ2 Compact will not be featuring the traditional aspect ratio of 16:9.

Through the FCC listing of the phone, it has been found that the handset measures 135 x 65 mm. It is likely to house a 5-inch or smaller display. It is speculated that the smartphone would be powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. It is likely to arrive with an internal storage of 64 GB. It may feature a 3,000mAH battery, a single rear camera of 19-megapixel and a frontal shooter of 8-megapixel

More information on the handset is expected to appear before Sony’s MWC 2018 event on Feb. 26. Hence, we advise our readers to take this report with a grain of salt.

The Japanese tech giant has confirmed that these smartphones will be available for purchase starting from February. Recent rumors have revealed that the company will be announcing the Xperia XZ Pro and Xperia XZ2 flagship smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. However, fresh information suggests that a 5-inch Sony Xperia smartphone may also get unveiled at MWC 2018. It is speculated that this smartphone could be the alleged Xperia XZ2 Compact.

Latest information has revealed that a Sony phone measuring 135 x 65 mm that may include a 5-inch display has been certified by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) in the U.S. The FCC ID of the device is PY7-24118Q. It seems to be a different device from mysterious Sony phone that was seen at FCC without a 3.5 mm audio jack.

The dimensions of the device are similar to an older Sony phone called Xperia UL that was unveiled at MWC 2013. It measures 135 x 71 mm and it houses a 5-inch display. So, the mysterious Sony phone with PY7-24118Q could be a compact full screen design.

It is speculated that it could be the Xperia XZ2 Compact. Rumors have it that it could be featuring an 18:9 aspect ratio supporting display of 5 inches. The Snapdragon 845 chipset may power the phone with 4 GB of RAM. It may include a native storage of 64 GB. The rear side may house a 19-megapixel camera whereas the front may feature an 8-megapixel selfie snapper. It is likely to house a 3,000mAh battery. The handset is rumored to carry a pricing of 4,999 Yuan (~$792).

Many consumer electronics companies will be present at the CES 2018 platform to unveil various products like TVs, audio devices, and smartphones. Sony has confirmed that it will be holding a press conference at the CES 2018. Even though the Japanese tech giant has not confirmed it, the rumor mill is speculating that it will be announcing a Snapdragon 845 powered smartphone during its upcoming press conference.

In this year, Sony became the first smartphone company to announce a Snapdragon 835 driven phone. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium, Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are all powered by the same Snapdragon 835 chipset. However, since Samsung had acquired the initial stocks of the Snapdragon 835 chipset, it was able to release its flagship phones into the market before Sony.

Sony H8116, H8166, H8216, H8266, H8276 and H8296 are the rumored next-generation smartphones from the company. Recent leaks have suggested that the Sony H8216 and Sony H8266 could be the two variants of the alleged Sony Xperia XZ2. Both the variants have been found to be driven by Snapdragon 845 chipset.

The two variants of the rumored Xperia XZ2’s are expected to respectively feature 4 GB of RAM + 64 GB of storage and 6 GB of RAM + 128 GB of storage. The benchmark listing of the Snapdragon 845 powered Sony H8266 has recorded 2393 on a single-core test and 8300 on a multi-core test. This suggests that the prowess of the phone is on par with the upcoming Galaxy S8+.

The Japanese tech giant is known for using the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 tech event that is usually held in February each year for announcing its new phones. Hence, the company may showcase some other electronic devices such as TVs at the CES 2018 and use the MWC 2018 platform to unveil its new phones.

Samsung and Huawei are also rumored to debut their flagship phones at MWC 2018. There is a possibility that Sony may avoid launching its smartphones during the same event. Hence, the company may consider launching its phones earlier through the CES event.

Hence, Sony is expected to announce new phones such as successor editions of the Sony Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ Premium at MWC (2018) in February. Today, a leaked image of an unidentified Sony phone has appeared. Speculations have it that it could be the front view of the rumored Sony Xperia XZ2 that may succeed the Xperia XZ1.

The below image shows that the right, left and bottom sides of the display of the alleged Sony Xperia XZ2 are surrounded by ultra-thin bezels. The upper bezel is thick enough to fit in the earpiece along with selfie camera and proximity sensor.

Some of the Sony phones have featured side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Hence, it is speculated that the fingerprint sensor could be embedded in the Power key that is located on the right side of the phone. However, there is a possibility that it could be placed on the rear side of the phone.

The right edge also features buttons for controlling volume as well as a dedicated key for launching camera. The source has not revealed any information on the specifications of the phone.

The Japanese firm has adhered to OmniBalance design for its smartphones since 2013. However, rumors are rife that Sony would be ditching the design for the good to embrace bezel-less design for its upcoming smartphones like the alleged Xperia XZ2.

The rumor mill has already unearthed the entire specifications of the phone that will be succeeding the Xperia XZ1. According to leaked information, its model number is H8216 and it will be powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. Its internal storage will be 64 GB. It will be coming with a 5.48-inch display that will be supporting full HD resolution.

It could be Sony’s first phone to house dual camera setup on its back panel. It is speculated to include a pair of 12-megapixel sensors. It is likely to feature a selfie snapper of 15-megapixel. Other features of the phone include Android 8.1 Oreo and 3,130mAh battery.

There is no way to confirm whether the above image really belongs to Sony Xperia XZ1’s successor. Hence, we advise our readers to digest this report with a pinch of salt.
