Last year, YI started selling its action cameras unofficially through Amazon last year. Now, YI Action Camera and YI 4K Action Camera are now available for purchase in India exclusively on Flipkart starting on December 17th.

The YI Action Camera comes with a 16-megapixel Sony IMX206 lens with a 1/2.3″ sensor, f/2.8 aperture, and 155-degree wide viewing angle. It supports Full HD recording at 60 frames per seconds and 720p recording at 120fps. 

It is powered by Ambarella A9SE SoC with support for H.264 codec. There’s also a built-in microphone Dual-channel, 96KHz sampling, and 92dBA SNR. For storing data, there’s a microSD card slot and connectivity options on the device include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (2.4GHz + 5GHz) and Bluetooth v4. As for the battery, it supports a battery life of 95 minutes.

The YI 4K Action Camera features a 12-megapixel Sony IMX377 lens with a 1/2.3″ sensor, 7P lens, f/2.8 aperture, and 155-degree wide viewing angle. Unlike the Action Camera, the 4K Action camera comes with a 2.19-inch display with 160-degree wide-angle viewing, 16:9 aspect ratio, and 330PPI pixel density.

Under the hood, the device is powered by Ambarella A9SE chipset with support for H.264 codec. It also supports 4K video recording at 30fps, 1080p recording at 120fps and 720p recording at 240 fps. It has BCM4330 for Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (2.4GHz + 5GHz) and Bluetooth 4.0.

It also comes with dual microphones and 6-axis gyroscope for EIS. As for the battery, it has 1,400mAh battery which provides up to 2 hours of recording.

As for the pricing, in India, the YI Action Camera and YI 4K Action Camera are priced at Rs. 4999 (approximately $71) and Rs. 9999 (approximately $141) respectively.

Xiaomi’s former partner Xiaoyi, now known as Yi has officially launched its latest 4K+ Action camera in China. The Yi 4K+ Action Camera was first showcased at CES 2017 but the device was never made officially available since then until now when it is launched.

The YI 4K+ Action camera is reputed as the world’s first camera capable of capturing 4K video at 60 frames per second and it is said to be double of what the action-packed Go Pro Hero 5 Black is capable of shooting. That is not only where the YI Action cam comes first, but also in the aspect of the processor, it packs. The YI 4K+ Action Camera is also the first to feature an Ambarella H2 System-on-Chip processor which offers a maximum bit rate of 120Mbps and improvements in power consumption.

The Action camera sports a SONY IMX377 12MP image sensor, 7 glass lens and a 2.2-inch retina touchscreen display at the back. It also features electronic image stabilization (EIS), live streaming capability, well filtered audio output in outdoors and also support for Virtual Reality (VR). The Smart camera also comes with USB 3.0 and USB Type-C interface and other features like 3-axis gyroscope, accelerometer. The camera also packs a 1400mAh battery which can last up to 71 minutes when shooting at 60FPS and if the quality is reduced to 30FPS the battery can last up to 109 minutes of continuous shooting. Yi promises that firmware update will soon bring in voice command on the smart camera.

It’s amazing that despite the well-packed features, the YI 4K+ Action Camera and the previous gen 4K Action camera all have the same size and design. Thus the accessories like tripod and others for the 4K action camera can be used for this one. However, the Yi 4K+ Action camera is priced at 1999 Yuan (~$290) and will go on sale on April 27.

Xiaomi already announced it’s making its first appearance at CES next year, but the announcement didn’t end there. The phone manufacturer also added that they plan to launch a new product at the event. We don’t know what the product is but it seems there will be more than one device making an appearance at the event seeing as Xiaomi just announced that it will be launching the Yi Erida drone and Yi 4K+ action camera.

Apart from phones, Xiaomi makes a bunch of other stuffs, part of which includes smart bikes, a smart electric scooter, a drone and action cameras. Earlier this year, Xiaomi launched the Mi Drone, a first from the company. Less than a year later, the company will be adding the Yi Erida drone to the line-up.

The Yi Erida will be equipped with a Yi 4K action camera that can record for 2 hours on a single charge, and will also have a tri-rotor design. The drone will be able to fly at speeds of up to 75mph (120km/h) and have a flying time of 40 minutes. It will also be fitted with a gimbal system that lets you record steady videos while flying. The Yi Erida will have advanced radar and sensor systems, manual camera controls, and can be controlled via a mobile app which Xiaomi says will make remotes obsolete.

The Yi 4K+ action camera on the other hand is an upgrade to this year’s Yi 4K camera. The major change is the ability to record 4K videos at 60fps which no action camera in the market can boast  of right now. The increase in frame rate will let you record fast moving objects in a smoother way than what you can currently achieve with other action cameras.

Xiaomi officially announced the new generation of the Yi 4K Action Camera today. We already knew a lot about the device thanks to previous leaks, and now, all those details have been officially confirmed. So, the Xiaomi Yi 4K camera will come with the 12MP Sony IMX377 sensor with Ambarella A9SE95 chip, f/ 2.8 aperture and 155 degree wide angle lens. This allows for the camera to capture 4K resolution videos at 30 fps. The battery inside the new camera is also going to be quite large, featuring 1400mAh capacity that will ensure up to 2 hours of continuous 4K video recording. Apart from 4K, you can also record slo-mo videos on the new Yi 4K action camera in 740p @ 240 fps and 1080p @ 120 fps. It also allows for time lapse videos with 0.5 / 1 /2 /5/ 10/ 30/ 60 seconds internals between shots.

The new generation Yi camera will be available in five different colours including gold and rose gold, and supports Bluetooth 4.0 and 5GHz / 2.4GHz dual band Wi-Fi connectivity for high-speed transfer of files between the camera and the connected device. Finally, there’s a 2.19-inch 330 ppi Gorilla Glass Touch screen on board visible from 160 degree angle.
