Since the imposition of trade restrictions by the US, Huawei is struggling to secure enough sales. The uncertainty among Huawei users over future updates and after-sales service is further deflecting the company’s reputation. Unfortunately, Huawei has hit another hurdle in Japan. Ymobile – SoftBank Corp’s low-cost mobile carrier has delayed the launch of Huawei P30 Lite, amid the US trade restrictions. To safeguard itself from any loss, the company needs time to assess the impact of the US trade ban. Hiroyuki Mizukami, Ymobile spokesperson said, “we are currently trying to confirm if our customers will be able to use the equipment with a sense of safety.” 

Ymobile is unsure about the launch of Huawei P30 Pro. Similarly, another Japanese carrier – KDDI has held the handset sale since Wednesday. The spokeswoman of KDDI, Reiko Nakamura said: “We’re checking the facts on how (the US decision) was made and its impact.”

Whereas, Japan’s largest telecom operator, NTT Docomo is currently evaluating the situation and is supposed to hold reservations for the Huawei P30 Pro smartphone. The company cites they are “studying possibility of stopping the receiving of sales orders of HUAWEI P30 Pro that we are planning to release this summer.”

Last week the US president – Donald Trump blacklisted Huawei and terms it as posing “an unacceptable risk to the national security of the United States”. It barred all the US companies from supplying equipment and other services to Huawei. Google particularly banned Android support for Huawei devices, however, later it was delayed for 90 days. Various companies including ARM (Arm Holdings), Qualcomm and Intel terminated ties with Huawei.
