Several months ago, we reviewed the Zeaplus Buds, a pair of budget wireless earbuds with good active noise cancelation. It got good feedback because of its comfortable fit and super cheap price tag. And today we have received a new headset from the same brand Zeaplus – the Wireless Zeaplus Studio headphone with active noise canceling. There’s no doubt this headphone is targeted at the budget market.

So, let’s see if the brand Zeaplus can continue to keep the pricing advantage with good value for money with its new Zeaplus Studio.

We’ll take Sony WH-1000XM3 as a reference to see what Zeaplus Studio does well and what it doesn’t do well enough. But I want to remind you that the Sony XM3 earphone is one of the best noise-canceling headphones from 2020 and the XM3 on Amazon costs over $200, while the Zeaplus Studio only sells for $39. So please keep this in mind while reading this comparison.

Let’s first talk about its design. The Zeaplus studio has adopted the most popular design for wireless earphones in recent years, which makes it look a bit similar to the Sony XM3 headphones.

The headset’s exterior body is made of black plastic with a matte finish. For a headset product, plastic is still one of the best choices for reducing weight and leads to a good wearing experience for a long time. For good extensibility, the top expansion is made of brushed bright metal.

The weight of 264g is only 10g heavier than the XM3, but the difference is not easily perceived when you wear them on your head.

Like the XM3, the ear cups of the Zeaplus Studio also have a wide range of rotation. They can be folded and stably placed on the table or stored in the included carrying case. The Studio headphone’s over-ear sponge is much thicker than the XM3’s. And it feels pretty soft and comfortable to wear. No doubt that the Sony headphone has excellent wearing experience. But what really surprised us was that as a budget wireless headphone, the Zeaplus headphone can also provide a similar fit and comfort to the users. More interestingly, the thicker sponge coverage of the ZeaPlus Studio even offers better warmth for ears in the winter. But after the weather warms up, probably, wearing it for a long time wouldn’t be a good suggestion for most users.

Now let’s look at the exterior finish on the ear cups. On the left side, you’ll find a Zeaplus logo which is smooth, and the other side features the control panel with three function buttons. These three buttons offer primary controls including power on/off, song switch, pausing playback, and making voice calls.

Although the physical buttons don’t look as advanced as the XM3’s touch control panel, it’s more user-friendly in the sense that users are allowed to have a more intuitive operation with specific buttons and reduce accidental actions.

In addition to a wireless connection with Bluetooth, the Studio headphone also offers a wired connection through the 3.5mm headphone jack at the left bottom. And the noise-canceling switch is placed next to the headphone jack. At the right near the bottom, there is a type-C charging port, which allows you to charge the headphone with your phone’s charging cable and charger.

From its appearance alone, it’s doesn’t look like a cheaply-positioned product. However, it does only sell for 39 US dollars, so it has a solid design for its price.

But that doesn’t mean that it’s perfect without any drawbacks. Although it has a softer sponge at the top, we can still feel the pressure when it presses against the head when you wear it. After we pull both the ear cups to the longest width, you’ll clearly notice this. The Zeaplus Studio’s retractable length is a bit shorter than what we can reach on the Sony XM3. So if you have a big smart head, this might be an issue.

And now let’s talk about its performance and let’s start with its noise-canceling performance. The difference in noise cancellation between the Zeaplus and Sony headphones is pretty obvious. The ZeaPlus Studio still needs to work harder on its future models. If we give the sony 1000MX3 a rating of 100, the ZeaPlus Studio could be rated around 70. But considering their price tags, it would be unfair to criticize the ZeaPlus for comparing it with the top models in the market.

Compared to some wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation, the ZeaPlus studio still has better active noise canceling, not to mention it does a pretty good job when compared to other headsets at the same price level. Especially for low-frequency range, it’s good enough to reduce or even block out most annoying consistent sounds in certain scenarios, such as the general hubbub of a busy office, vehicles’ engine, or roaring machines. But when it comes to the high-frequencies including human voices, the reducing effect is less impressive. And there is no adjustable strength level for noise canceling. All you have is an option to turn on or off the function through the ANC switch at the bottom of the left cup. Also, there is no transparent mode that could have come in handy when you are talking to a person or when you need to hear ambient sound.

As for sound quality, the ZeaPlus studio supports the AAC codec, which no doubt is better than headphones with only the SBC codec.

Although it won’t be able to beat Sony’s headset which supports additional LDAC and aptX HD codec, the AAC codec is the best option that you can find on a budget wireless headset. But as a headphone model, the ZeaPlus Studio has a larger space for using a better transducer than most wireless earbuds. Meanwhile, if you want to enjoy relatively high sound quality with the noise-canceling function at lower prices, the ZeaPlus Studio is a safe pick. It delivers an open sound that gives good detail of the instrument and enhanced dynamics. With a good performance over lovely, deep bass, it would be an excellent inexpensive tool for those Rock music lovers. On the contrary, vocals and high-range are not as impressive as its low-range performance especially since we expected it to be a bit more focused. But overall, the gap among frequencies doesn’t lead to an unbalanced listening experience. Instead, the richness of bass reinforces the overall delivery in a pleasant way to make up for its slight drawbacks.

The latency is naturally a concern for many people who require it for watching videos and gaming. But for the Zeaplus Studio, the latency optimization is pretty good. If not listen carefully, it’s hard to perceive the sound delay during our gaming test. The general latency with ACC codec activated is estimated to be about 0.5 seconds, and it will be reduced by about half if the SBC codec is enabled.

And the battery performance is also not bad on the ZeaPlus studio. For wireless use,  the full-charged headset can continuously work for 16 hours with noise canceling on, while it can last 25 hours with noise canceling off. If you prefer wired use with noise cancellation on, the battery life can even reach up to 40 hours.

So this is the ZeaPlus Studio, a reliable basic wireless headphone with noise canceling. It’s probably our most recommended ANC headset model that you can get for under 50 US dollars. It has a pretty good design, effective noise cancellation, decent sounds, and relatively good latency. At the same time, you also have to live with its imperfections, such as the fit which might be a bit tight for some users, and the obvious sound quality drawbacks.

But overall, looking at its price, it’s definitely worth the money. So if you are interested in getting a cheap ANC headset, the Zeaplus Studio could be a good option. You can check out more details about the headphones here.

Zeaplus has just announced a new smartwatch in the market, the Zeaplus Watch K18. This is yet another round smartwatch from the company, but it looks better as it is designed to look more like the LG G Watch R.

While we are yet to do a complete review of the new Zeaplus Watch, we got our hands on the first unit of the smartwatch. We have some great pictures of the watch for you down below. The overall built feels great, the design is better than other low cost watches and the fact that it runs on Android 4.4 OS called as the ZOS, instead of Android Wear makes it kind of unique.

As for the specs, the K18 will come with a 1.2GHz Mediatek processor underneath with 512MB RAM and 4GB of storage. There will be a 1.4-inch AMOLED display up front with 400 x 400 pixel resolution. The watch supports GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and will come in Black, Gold and Silver colors.

The Zeaplus Watch K18 comes with a lot of features such as a heart rate sensor, pedometer to track your steps and daily routine, barometer, alarm clock and weather app. Its actually comes with a SIM card slot, so you can make and receive calls and messages too. You also get some good looking watch faces on the watch, some of which you can see in the pictures. We are yet to do an extensive review of the new watch, but for now it looks promising.

Zeaplus recently teased a new circular smartwatch called as the Zeaplus Watch K18. Now, the company has revealed further details as well as pictures of the new watch.

The Zeaplus Watch K18 comes with a 1.4-inch AMOLED display with 400 x 400 pixel resolution. That’s pretty good for a compact circular smartwatch. The watch will be powered by a Mediatek chipset clocked at 1.2GHz. We still don’t know the exact model of the chip. Along with the processor, the Zeaplus Watch K18 features 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal storage.

Other interesting features of the new Zeaplus watch includes heart rate sensor, pedometer and even support for a SIM card. Yes, it comes with a SIM card slot, so you can receive calls, messages etc directly on your smartwatch once the SIM card is inserted into the device.

As we specified in the previous article, the Zeaplus Watch K18 comes with Android OS on board. This is the real Android OS optimized for wearables and not the Android Wear platform. The company is calling it the ZOS and the UI will be based on Android 4.4 Kitkat. Like our readers suggested, this may not be the first Android based smartwatch, but it will still be interesting to see how the local startup manufacturer optimizes it on the new wearable.

From the images that you can see above, the watch does look pretty good. The round face and the casing gives it  a premium look. Hopefully, we will get our hands on the device real soon for review.

NOTHING OUT OF ORDINARY, USUAL STUFF YOU WOULD EXPECT TO GET WITH A BUDGET SMARTPHONE

A quite typical packaging for nowadays budget devices – a plain cardboard box most likely made out of recycled materials.

The contents include a screen protector, USB charging brick, USB cable and instruction manuals. I can’t say that the accessories scream high quality, but they don’t look like they going to brake after a month either.

Zeaplus M7 Review: DESIGN and DISPLAY

A decent 5.5″ display. the overall design is plain looking and has one minor flaw

First of all, Zeaplus M7 is not a small device as it spots a 5.5″ 1080p display, which is actually quite good. It is a bright and vivid LCD panel and it looks good both indoors and outdoors. In addition, the screen has a slight curve on each side to provide a 2.5D glass effect.

On the top of the device there is a 5MP front facing camera, earpiece and a proximity sensor. One more thing that is a actually a welcome feature is the front facing LED flash for those night selfie lovers.

The back is made out of textured plastic material. On the top side there is a 13MP Sony camera with a single LED flash. Just below the snapper there is a finger print scanner. The placement seemed weird at the beginning but right now I think it is pretty good since the phone has quite a huge footprint so it is easy to reach it with your index finger.

On the left you can find a volume rocker and on the right side there is a power key. Both buttons have a great tactile feedback.

On the top side there is a micro USB charging port along with the headset jack and on the bottom there is a mic.

The back plate is removable and under the hood you can find two SIM card slots (one regular size and another microSIM card size), microSD card slot up to 64GB and a removable 3800Ah battery.

Overall the design is kind of plain looking and it would not attract the attention of many people. On the other hand, this device was not build with a design in mind.

The glass front and the metal sides along with the metal buttons of the device feel high quality but the back plate is ruining a lot of things here. Firstly, the textured plastic feels a bit cheap but the biggest complaint is that it is making some wobbling noises when pressed meaning that it does not sit tight enough. I was told that it may be only my review unit but this is my experience.

Zeaplus M7 Review: UI

The Zeaplus M7 runs almost stock looking Android 5.0 Lolipop. Overall, all the apps are opening and closing fast, scrolling through menus is also usually fast but sometimes I encountered with some lags there and there when there were many apps running in the background. All in all, it seems that the UI still needs some polishing to become completely lag-free.

There are some features we have already seen on many Chinese devices like gesture controls and pulsing notification light. I’ve tested them all and they work fine most of the times. In addition, there are many languages installed, so international users should feel like at home when using a device.

The Zeaplus M7 is not a killer benchmark performer on Antutu but it is no slouch either. It managed to score a respectable 41k+ score, which is on par with the last year’s flagship devices. Considering that this device costs below $170, the score is pretty good.

As usual, I don’t care about benchmarks and I strongly believe that a real life performance is a much more important factor to look at. To support that I’ve tested the Zeaplus smartphone with a few graphically intensive games like Asphalt 8 and Nova 3. The performance is not bad but not perfect either. The graphics look okay but the are some skipped frames and even little lags at some points. Nothing to be a deal breaker as you can still enjoy 3D games but I’ve seen some better performing devices at his price point.

Zeaplus M7 Review: MULTIMEDIA

OVERALl, MULTIMEDIA CONSUMPTION EXPERIENCE IS GREAT BUT YOU MAY WANT TO DOWNLOAD A THIRD PARTY VIDEO AND MUSIC PLAYER APPS TO HAVE MORE FUNCTIONALITY

Multimedia consumption is great overall. Firstly, the stock music player is easy to use but more importantly the loudspeaker is not bad at all for the price of this device. Being a bloody picky I would add a bit more depth to the sound quality but overall I am more than glad to listen to music via loudspeaker. In addition, it does not get muffled that easily with your fingers.

Other multimedia options like 1080p video works just fine. As usual, I suggest you downloading a third party video player to get some more functionality though. As far as Internet browsing experience, I have no complaints.

Camera application is a stock Mediatek app with some basic settings and a few shooting modes to play with. The camera is able to take max. 13MP pictures and shoot 1080p videos.

The Zeaplus M7 is a decent but not perfect device. Firstly, the overall design is just plain looking but the back cover could be definitely better. The thing that it is making some wobbling noises when pressed can be irritating for some. Well, I was told that it does not happen on all units. Anyway, it is not that bad and it is far from the deal breaker.

Zeaplus has surprised us all with a number of devices this year. We have already seen the Zeaplus M7 flagship and our review on the device is coming up very soon. Then we saw a super cheap Xiaomi Mi Band like smartband from the company for those who are looking to buy their first fitness wearable. Now, it looks like Zeaplus is going to release another wearable, its fifth one called as the Zeaplus Talkband.

From the initial renders, the design looks similar to the Huawei talkband. We also have details about the specification and features of the wearable.

The Zeaplus Talkband will reportedly come with a 0.91-inch OLED display. Like its name suggests, you can make hands free calls as it can act as a wireless bluetooth headset. Moreover, the band can record your steps, distance traveled, calories burnt as well as other data. Like most other bands in the market, it can even monitor your sleep patterns. If you want, you can even listen to music on your headset.

Other features include vibrate alert for calls, smart alarm clock etc. The Zeaplus Talkband is compatible with both Android and iOS smartphones with Bluetooth connectivity. So, you can connect it with most devices in the market.

As for the battery, the company claims that the talkband provides up to 15-20 days of standby time. We still don’t know the approximate talk time that you will get on this band, but we will update with more details in the coming days. We are also unsure about the pricing of the band, but given that its from Zeaplus, which usually prices its products aggressively, expect a pretty affordable price tag when it hits the market.

First of all, Zeaplus M7 is not a small device as it spots a 5.5″ 1080p display, which is actually quite good. It is a bright and vivid LCD panel and it looks good both indoors and outdoors.

A metal frame gives a little bit of a premium look and feel but the whole device is made out of plastic and it does feel expensive to be honest. Well, it is not expensive device after all but what I’ve noticed is that the textured plastic back is wobbling a bit and I’m not a huge fan of it.

Honestly, I’ve been using a device for 4 days already but was on vacation. Still, I used this device as a daily driver and so far the overall performance has been okay with no major issues. I have browsed a lot of web and Facebook, took tens of pictures and shot some videos, made some calls etc.

Zeaplus has been upping its game in the past few months. We have seen a number of affordable smartphone releases from the company, like the flagship Zeaplus M7. The company has three wearables in its portfolio as well, including a smart band, the Zeaplus Band. Now, its all set to add one more smartwatch, the new Zeaplus Watch S2.

This is one of the most traditional looking smartwatches that you can purchase in the market right now. When we say traditional, we mean, it looks like any other regular analog watch. Zeaplus has made the device quite solid, with an all metal body and thick bezels which makes it look quite rugged. Finally, there’s a 350mAh battery on board which is reportedly good enough to last about 70 hours.

Using the watch was pretty easy, thanks to a simple OS that’s running inside. You have plenty of pre-installed watch faces, most of them quite good looking. You can change the face with a single tap on the screen. A swipe to the left brings you to the menu, which includes a lot of different features such as pedometer, remote notifications, bluetooth settings, device settings, sleep monitor, remote camera etc.

What’s more, when connected to a smartphone, the Zeaplus Watch S2 can make calls as well as sync your text messages directly into the watch. You also get a heart rate monitor, which is once again a nice addition.

Xiaomi recently revealed that it had sold over 6 million Xiaomi Mi Bands in the market. Now that the company has achieved a great milestone, it looks like a new Xiaomi band is one its way. The current Mi Band was released in July last year, so its about time we see a new wearable from the company. Earlier today, a new leak revealed the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Band 2 in picture.

According to the picture leaked, there will be some major differences in the new band. It will feature a touchscreen display which means most of the information could be directly shown on the screen. This could also mean less reliance on the connected smartphone.

Given that the first generation model was focused on fitness, this one too is expected to feature sleep tracking, calorie counter, alarm clock and a lot other fitness centric features. However, now that the Mi Band 2 is rumored to come with touch screen display, don’t expect to get anywhere near the 30 day battery life.

The addition of a touch screen display will most likely drive up the price of the new generation band. However, remember that Xiaomi is yet to confirm the existence of such a new band, so its better to take this news with a pinch of salt.

We were lucky enough to get our hands on this flagship device. So, here’s our initial impression of this MT6752 powered smartphone.

From the design point of view, the Zeaplus M7 is worthy of its flagship title. The device is well built and you won’t find any loose parts, unlike other cheap chinese handsets. The phone feels solid and even the buttons are tactile and responsive.

On top of the phone lies the USB as well as the headphone jack.The power button is on the right and the volume control keys on the left. There’s nothing at the bottom. Coming to the back, its made of plastic but its not that slippery and provides good grip. There’s a camera unit on top of the rear cover and below it you will find the fingerprint sensor. At the bottom of the cover, there’s the Zeaplus logo.

We had the time to try out a few features, and naturally, we started off with the fingerprint sensor at the back. You can save up to five different fingerprints for unlocking the device. Saving can take around 10-15  seconds, but unlocking the device is pretty fast. The accuracy of the sensor was also good.

The Zeaplus M7 comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop version right out of the box. The phone had Google apps preinstalled and the UI was stock Android, which we always prefer.

As for the camera, our initial impression was quite good. The photos came out clear and bright. Even when zoomed it, the photo maintained a great level of detail, which is quite good for an affordable flagship. We couldn’t test out the night camera performance, but we will cover that in our review soon.

We also had the time to try out a few covers for the device. You can get a flip leather cover for the smartphone which looks pretty good. It looks similar to the LG G3 Circle cover and when its closed, the clock app will light up in the opening up front.

You can also get a regular skin case for the device, made from soft TPU material.

Overall, it looks like Zeaplus has delivered on its promise with the new Zeaplus M7 flagship. It looks solid, performs very well (gaming was smooth and lag free) and the fingerprint sensor is definitely an added advantage.

The main features of this device, which costs only $99 include the 1.22” touch screen display, IP53 rating meaning that it is waterproof, dustproof and sweat proof. In addition, it has a heart rate monitor and it is made out of stainless steel.

The strap is made out of leather, which has a smooth touch. The display has great outdoors visibility and viewing angles.

On the back side you can find a charging dock along with the heart rate monitor.

On the right side you can find a power key and the speaker grill, which can be both used for music and the phone calls.

On the left there is only the microphone.

All in all, the watch looks very similar to the Motorola Moto 360 in terms of design. Other than that I’m very surprised with a great built quality as the combination of quality stainless steel and leather gives a great look and feel.

An amazing feature is the ability to make or receive the calls directly from the smartwatch. I found the speaker to be great, but it may not be loud enough to speak in noisy environments. On the other hand, people I spoke to did not complain about the my voice clarity at all.

The speaker can be also used to listen to music. It is quite loud and has great sound quality for a smartwatch. Also, you can control the music stored on your smartphone. See the video review to hear a sound test.

It is great that the music can be played on your smartwatch and can be controlled. However, it does not work vice versa meaning that you can’t play music on your smartphone’s speaker and control it. You can only do that when the earphones are connected.

Moreover, you have to scan the included QR code to download the smartwatch app to be able to use all the features. One of them is the remote shutter control. However, I found it to be completely useless. First of all, it does not work if the smartphone is on the standby mode. Secondly, there is a significant lag on the smartwatch’s viewfinder. Thirdly, it does not use your camera’s stock app. It means that you have to deal with some third party app, which doesn’t even have neither auto nor tap-to-focus features.

 The UI of the app is pretty simple and easy to use. You can track your fitness activity here.

Other features worth mentioning are a sleep manager, where you can track the quality of your sleep. Also, the messages app lets you read the whole message and reply with some pre-installed answers.

Another great thing is the gestures control. The most important one is that the screen lights up once you twist your wrist and it works very well. What is more, the smartwatch has all kinds of languages, so international customers can feel comfortable.

In addition, “Find My Device” feature lets you find your smartphone.

Finally, the included Siri app let’s you do some voice controls. It basically uses Google Now and works most of the time. However, I’m not a huge fan of voice controls, so I don’t use it.

CONCLUSIONS

All in all, the Zeaplus Watch DM360 is a great device for the price of $99. It offers a lot of features and most of them work pretty good. I found the essential fitness app like pedometer to be working fine, but the heart rate monitor sometimes can take almost a minute to do its thing.

Also, the UI is fast,  responsive and has tons of customisation options.

As far as notifications go, they work okay, but you would definitely want to block some apps. For example, the watch notifies you each time you change the song on the music app.

Some apps like remote camera control really disappointed me and I don’t even want to use it.  However, I was surprised how well the gesture controls work.

One of the most important things is the battery life and I can say it can last you at least one full day on normal use and even two days on light use.

All in all, despite a few shortcomings it is a great device for the this price category. Of course, there are some better options out there, but they would cost 2 or even 3 times more. I think that it could be a great device for those who need some fitness tracking features and don’t want to miss any, I mean literally, any notification they receive.

In the past few weeks, we have covered a couple of articles on the upcoming Zeaplus M7 flagship. The company started off small but later on started making interesting handsets like the M7.

Now, we have the full detailed specifications of the Zeaplus M7 along with the pricing. The smartphone comes with the MT6752 octa-core 64-bit chip which is one of the best mid-range chipsets in the market right now. This along with the 3GB of RAM should provide enough power to handle everything that you throw at it.

As for the display, the phone sports a large 5.5-inch full HD panel with low power consumption tech. This translates into pixel density of an impressive 403 ppi and should display all videos and images with immense clarity. Another smart move by Zeaplus is the large 3800mAh battery on board the M7. This is much bigger than competitors, and should be able to give much more than a day’s usage.

Further the phone features a rear placed fingerprint sensor for securing your apps and documents on the phone. As for the camera, it comes with a 13MP Sony sensor at the back and a 5MP front facing shooters. The Zeaplus M7 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and comes with 16GB of expandable storage (up to 64GB via MicroSD).

The Zeaplus M7 is definitely one of the best mid-range flagship that you can buy at the moment! And the company has even priced it lower than competitors like the Ulefone and Elephone, as the M7 will retail for an official price tag of just $199. There is another flagship phone coming to the market mid June, this time from Zeaplus.

The phone specs look good as does the styling featuring 2.5d front glass and metal chassis with rounded corners that follow the screens radius, we are yet to see the rear of the phone but hopefully it will have clean smooth lines like the front.

I have just received more images that show the back to be textured with a nice curvature that looks like it will make the phone very easy to hold without fear of dropping it whilst encasing the 3800mAh battery.

The more I see of this phone the more I am liking the styling, its great to see that China phone companies are now giving us the larger batteries that we have been asking for without sacrificing style.

As yet pricing is not known but hopefully this will be available for $220 or less as Zeaplus are very keen on their smartwatch pricing.

Zeaplus is known for their affordable devices like the Zeaplus M4 and the Zeaplus G2 smartwatch. The company revealed recently that it was working on a new smartwatch which will be inspired from Apple’s own wearable. Now, it looks like Zeaplus is all set to release the device around the same time as Apple Watch ships to  its customers.

The upcoming Zeaplus Watch G3 aims to bring the same kind of experience as an Apple Watch. Of course, materials and the internals will be a lot different than the Apple Wearable, however, the design will be almost the same.

The watch is said to come in an aluminum body, which should keep the weight down. It will feature an independent MicroSIM card slot which will allow it to make and receive calls directly. The Zeaplus Watch G3 will have a compact 1.54-inch display with 240 x 240 pixel resolution, which is the standard among affordable smartwatches. The watch will be quite compact too with the measurements 47.5mm x 38.5mm x 12.5mm.

The G3 will be powered by the modest MT6261A chipset with SRAM. Unfortunately there won’t be a camera. It can connect to other smartphones using Bluetooth 4.0 and comes with a pedometer and 3D G-Sensor too. The smartwatch will feature a 350mAh Lithium-ion Polymer battery which can be charged using the MicroUSB port on it. The watch will run on the Nucleus operating system which is still being tweaked for the device. Finally, interested customers will be able to purchase the G3 in silver, grey and gold colors.

Unfortunately, Zeaplus has not yet revealed the pricing of the smartwatch, but according to the previous gadgets from the company, expect it to be very affordable.

Zeaplus is a company, which is known for making almost identical devices to other companies’ offerings. Or may say that it that it takes a lot of inspiration from other manufacturers like in the case of Zeaplus G2 smart watch. What is more, the smart watch will have a standard functions like pedometer, heart rate and other activity trackers. Furthermore, the Zeaplus Watch will have 3 colour options (silver, grey and gold). Finally, the price is not clear, but we are pretty sure that it would cost a lot cheaper than the Apple Watch or many other smart watches on the market.

Until now, the No.1 G2  was probably the best smartwatch that was available in the market under $80. However, the relatively new manufacturer Zeaplus is all set to take on the G2 with an identical looking ZeaPlus ZeaWatch G2 smartwatch. Once again the design is based on Samsung’s Gear smartwatch which means you get the same solid metal built on this new smartwatch.

As for the tech specs, you can expect almost everything that is usually available on a mid-range smartwatch. So theres a 1.54-inch display which will be powered by the MT MT2502 processor. This is the same processor used on all budget wearables these days and the performance is quite satisfactory considering its price tag. For RAM you have 32MB and for ROM you have 128MB inside. Clearly, the watch is not meant to store anything inside, rather it acts as a companion smartwatch which will connect to your smartphone/ tablet. It sports a 2MP camera too. The overall measurements come out as 36.9 * 58.4 * 9mm which is again the standard for smartwatches these days and it weighs about 65 grams. Finally, the battery is of 235 mAh which is also pretty decent considering its price tag. The company claims that it gives around 70 hours of standby time, but we’ll have to confirm that after a thorough review.

The watch does have some interesting features such as a pedometer, calorie meter, steps calculator, anti-theft option, calls, messages support and 4 different watch faces. You also get a heart rate monitor on the device. It is waterproof and dust proof too, thanks to its IP67 certification. The ZeaWatch G2 syncs with most Android smartphones these days with a Bluetooth 4.0 connection, so you don’t have to worry about compatibility.

Just managed to get a bit of charge in the s5 to have a play. The Zeaplus Nut software downloaded and installed from play store without any problems.
The Zeaplus Nut comes with a battery pre installed so ready to go out of the box. Once you have loaded the nut software it presents you with pairing menu, allow your phone to turn Bluetooth on), next push the button on the nut for 5 seconds and it should pair up with your phone.
Now that the nut is paired you can give it a name and a photo of the object (mine is my wallet) and also setup sleep mode (can set a timer for hours that you are asleep to save battery and not get disturbed etc)

You will also need to create a login, so that you can access the nut (for china this can be a china phone number, for other parts of the world you can use Facebook login etc).

Once this is done you will have access to the tracking screen, from here you can select from 

LOCATION – Brings up google maps to pin point the device.

CALL – Sends a signal to the nut and starts a loud beeping tone to help you find your item.

SHARE – This option allows you to share with Sina Weibo, for those of us not in china I think this is not really of any use, however it maybe something that the programers of the software can sort in order to upload to more useful international sites such as Facebook or Google+
Also on the share screen is a bar that shows distance between me and the nut, this goes between near, middle and far.

The next screen is the settings page, activated in top right corner of the page (look for cog), from here you have the following settings-

BEEP NUT ON DISCONNECTION – This is an on/off toggle and can be set to let you know when the phone and the nut are no longer connected (will have a play with this later and update post).

ALARM DISTANCE – This can be set between near and far (will have a play with this later and update post)

SLEEP MODE – This is an on/off toggle, below this are the from, to and repeat settings, you can set the nut to turn off between selected hours, either every day or you can set up a schedule if you want it to be off for the different times on different days.

Below this are three further options:

DECLARE LOST – At present this option is greyed out (I will ask for more info when I speak with Alex next), however the instructions advise that when this is selected, other nut users will help you find your nut and you will be notified where it has been found etc.

POWER OFF – this sends a signal to the nut to power off, it displays a reminder message telling you to press the button on the nut to wake it up, the options are cancel or ok.

DELETE – this gives you a message, are you sure to unbind nut?, options are cancel or ok

There is also an information page (select the question mark in the top right hand corner) that tells you about the functions etc, the English is not the best but it is easy to get the general meanings and figure out how to work things.

In the past few months, Zeaplus has announced multiple smartphones as well as a tracker called the Zeaplus Nut. Now, the same Chinese startup company is planning to launch another smartphone in the market which will feature a large battery.

Usually, when you hear the word large battery, you expect it to be around 3000-3500mAh. But looks like Zeaplus has taken some inspiration from THL’s lineup with large batteries such as the THL 4000 and the THL 5000. This particular device, called as the Zeaplus M5, is said to come with a large 5000mAh+ battery. The company has already released a teaser image, but has not yet revealed details like the design, tech specs or even the pricing. So, at the moment, we just know one thing, i.e. it has a large battery. However, that is enough to generate excitement among potential buyers given that battery is one of the foremost things consumers consider when they go out shopping for a phone in the market.

Both the earlier devices, the Zeaplus M4 as well as the Zeaplus M6 have looked promising with good specifications. So, we expect even the Zeaplus M5 will offer great specs at an affordable price tag.

Next up in the list is the recently announced Zeaplus M4. This is another beautiful looking phone as it is the clone of the popular Xiaomi Mi4 flagship. So, if you like the Mi4, the Zeaplus M4 should definitely be on your list.

Apart from the beautiful design, the affordable M4 does have some decent hardware up its sleeve. For example, you get the same MediaTek MT6582, 1.3GHz, Quad-core processor on this device as the Neo M1 along with 1GB RAM. Those who hate smooth back texture on their phones, can take a look at the Cubot S200 smartphone. Unlike the M4 and the Neo M1, the S200 comes with a rough back panel, which makes it easier to hold the device. It may not be as pretty as the above two, but we know there are some buyers who will like its design.

Internals are more or less the same as other phones in its class. So, you get the 1.3Ghz MT6582 Quad Core SoC, 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM with expandable storage. There’s an 8MP rear camera like the M4 along with a 5MP front shooter. The 5 inch screen up front features a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.

If you are looking for something more powerful, then you can go for the new THL T6 Pro. It comes with a Mediatek MT6592m Cortex A7 processor clocked at 1.4 Ghz. This should give you more than enough power to run any apps or games on the device without any lag. For RAM, you get 1GB and for storage, you have 8GB internal with MicroSD card expansion support.

On the back there’s an 8MP camera which clicks decent pictures while on the front, there is a 2MP sensor. The screen is of 5 inches like the earlier listed models and comes with 720p resolution. Battery is a bit of a disappointment, as it comes with only 1,900 mAh capacity Li-Polymer battery. But even with 8 cores, the device should survive a day, owing to the less powerful power efficient Cortex A7 processor.

Design wise, the device has nothing new to offer, but the it feels well built and the power of 8 cores should definitely attract a lot of new users to the company.

5. THL 4000

Cubot S200 isn’t the only smartphone in town with a large battery. In fact, if you are looking for a device that will really last for more than a day, even with heavy use, then the THL 4000 is perfect for you. The THL model makes up for what its elder brother THL T6 lacked, with a large 4,000 mAh battery (hence the Name THL 4000!). This is really the most you can get on a smartphone under $100.

So, you must be wondering why didn’t we list it ahead of the S200. Well, the reason is simple. Apart from the large battery, the THL 4000 is a very average phone Although the basic package remains the same – MTK6582 1.3Ghz Quad Core processor + 1GB RAM + 8GB ROM, the camera sensor and the display are much smaller than what you get from the earlier listed devices. For example, you just have a 4.7 inch screen with 960 x 540 qHD resolution. Rear camera is of 5MP and the front camera is of 2MP.

However, for a smaller camera sensor and display, you have to shell out a lot less than other phones in its class. Usually, you will have to pay around $99 for the THL 4000, but you can get it for $91 from Comebuy for a limited period. There’s also an option to ship it from German Warehouse.

Don’t have $100 to spend on your next smartphone or looking for an extremely cheap back up smartphone? We have a device which satisfies this need too. We present the cheapest smartphone in the list, the Cubot 168. Its less than $80 but only sacrifices in some areas to get to this price tag.

For example, the display remains at 5 inches like most other phones in the list, but the resolution is reduced to qHD i.e. 960 x 540 pixels. Also, the battery is small and at 1,900 mAh capacity, it should barely last you an entire day. However, other than this, the features are the same as the S200. So you have a MT6582 Quad Core processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage with a MicroSD card slot. Camera too remains the same at 8MP rear sensor and 5MP front sensor.

So, the choice is simple. If you are short on cash and are looking for a cheap smartphone, Cubot S168 should serve you well.

Let me remind you that you have a powerful Quad Core processor as well as a decent display in this phone, so things are not as bad as you may think. Its just that you have better options out there, all for less than a $100 which makes this device look a bit weak.  But for $80, we think you get much more than your money’s worth.

If you didn’t like the design on the earlier listed phones, there’s a very good chance that the KingSing S2 won’t disappoint you. This is because, S2 is a clone of one of the most beautiful smartphones currently available in the market. the LG G3. It even features the same rear volume and power buttons like the G3.

The build is quite solid with a glossy back cover (unlike the metal finish on the G3) and looks wise, you will be impressed for sure (for a device of this price). Surprisingly, there’s even a heart rate sensor on the device, which although isn’t very accurate, it could be something that you can boast about your $100 smartphone.

Inside, the specifications are pretty average. You get a Quad Core 1.3GHz MTK6582 processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage with memory card slot. Like most other models, you have a 5 inch display up front, but unfortunately, the resolution is just qHD i.e. 960 x 540 pixels. For camera you have 8MP sensor at the back and a 2MP sensor up front. The battery is also decent, a 2,000 mAh capacity(though we would have loved atleast 2,300mAh), which with the power efficient processor and the lower resolution screen should be just enough to last an entire day.

So, the only reason you would choose this device from other rivals in the market is because of its design. But, there’s one more incentive. The KingSing S2 is available at Giztop for just $89, cheaper than most other phones in the list.

All the phones we have covered till now feature 5 inch screen or less. But those who are looking for something bigger, can go for the new Elephone G5 smartphone. It comes with a 5.5 inch display with  a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. While this will reduce the pixel density of the screen as compared to other phones in the list, the display still should be clear enough for your everyday use.

The Zeaplus M4 is available for pre-order internationally from their own website starting today for $99. When you pre-order the device, you also get a free flip case and a screen protector.

The company promises to start shipping worldwide from December 10th so as to make sure that you get the device before Christmas.

Zeaplus has a hub in Europe as well, so European customers will get the new M4 directly from their nearest hub. For others, the M4 will ship from the company’s hub in China.

Zeaplus is a new player in the market which aims to compete with the numerous other Chinese handset makers currently selling devices in China and worldwide.

We have already seen their flagship, the Zeaplus M6 which comes with a great design and top of the line specifications and now its time to look at the second device in their lineup, the much affordable Zeaplus M4.

The Zeaplus M4 comes with the same design as the Xiaomi Mi4, like the numerous other Mi4 clones in the market. This is not really a bad thing as we loved the new design on the Xiaomi flagship. It features an industrial grade aluminium alloy frame which gives the device a premium look.

The dimensions of the device (152.9 x 75.9 x 8.9 mm) indicate that its slightly bigger than the Xiaomi Mi4, but it compensates the extra size by shedding a little weight. While the Mi4 weighs 150 grams, the Zeaplus M4 just weighs 130 grams.

Inside, there’s a MT6582 Mediatek 1.3GHz Quad Core Processor along with 1GB LP-DDR3 RAM. The Cortex A7 processors are known to consume less power, so even with four such cores, it would not take a toll on the device’s battery life. You have 8GB internal storage which can be expanded via a MicroSD card.

Like the Mi4, the Zeaplus M4 too features a 5 inch display but with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The IPS screen comes with Glass-Film-Film (GFF) architecture, which means the pixels are much closer to the display as compared to non GFF screens. This results into brighter display even in broad daylight. Further, unlike other devices in its class, the M4 comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection which means you don’t have to worry about scratches on the screen.

With the 5 inch HD screen and a low power consuming processor, the 2,500 mAh Lithium Polymer battery onboard should be more than enough for a day’s usage.

The M4 supports Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/ AGPS, Dual band Wi-Fi b/g/n, and two MicroSim slots. The phone even comes with a multi-colored notification LED light along with four sensors namely Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Proximity and Ambient Light.

On the back, there’s an 8MP f/2.2 camera with LED flash and a wide 2MP front shooter. The rear camera is capable of capturing 2K videos with stereo recording and even slow motion videos at 720p resolution at 120fps.

Not much is known about the phone’s software but it will come with Android 4.4 Kitkat out of the box.

Now coming to the best part about the device, the Zeaplus M4 will be available to purchase in the next two to three weeks for an impressive $99 price tag. You also get 2 years warranty on every Zeaplus device including the M4.
