The ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro series are the only flagship phones of 2020 that come without dedicated front-facing cameras. The reason behind it is that the flip-up camera system of the ZenFone 7 can be used to capture topnotch selfie shots. The flip-up camera module of the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro comprise of a Sony IMX686 64-megapixel main camera with 113-degee FOV and f/1.8 aperture, a 12-megapixel Sony IMX686 ultrawide lens with f/2/2 aperture, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and 12x digital zoom support.

The flip-up cameras offer photography features such as dual-LED flash, 120fps slow-motion video recording, and up to 8K video recording at 30fps. The only noticeable difference between the cameras of the two phones is that the ZenFone 7’s main camera is coupled with 4-axis OIS, whereas the main lens as well as the telephoto shooter of the ZenFone 7 are both equipped with 4-axis OIS. The flip-up cameras of the ZenFone 7 series have liquid metal housing and it’s powered by a new motor module for greater weight endurance. There is an angle sensor that can make the flip-up stay at pre-defined angles while shooting photos.

The photos were posted on Weibo earlier today.

Earlier this week, we reported that it has been officially confirmed that the Zenfone 7 will have flip cameras just like its predecessor. These live photos show that the Zenfone 7 will have three rear cameras.

ASUS has added an extra camera sensor to the back of the phone but we are not sure what type of lens it has. A leak from a few days ago says the third sensor is a ToF camera and it has been paired with a 64MP Sony IMX686 main camera and a 12MP ultrawide angle camera.

An additional camera is not the only change with respect to the design of the Zenfone 7. As you can see in the image above, there is no rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

It has been reported that the device has an LCD display which means the fingerprint scanner should be on the side, possibly buried under the power button. However, we can’t seem to see any indentation on the sides of the phone which is a common feature of phones with side-mounted fingerprint scanners. Hopefully, we get to see another image before the launch that shows the fingerprint scanner.

The Zenfone 7 is shown in blue and is covered in glass. We hope there will be more colorways available compared to its predecessor. The leaker also shared a picture of its retail box which is quite pretty big.

A leak already revealed the price of the phone in Europe and it is cheaper than most of the phones from competitors. Another leak has now revealed the specs of the device and it shows that ASUS has made some tradeoffs to keep the price low.

The specs of the Zenfone 7 were found in the kernel source of the ROG Phone 3 by the tech blog ReaMeizu. They have reported that the flagship will feature an LCD display supplied by BOE. The screen size is put at 6.4-inches with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 and a refresh rate of 60Hz. The low refresh rate is pretty disappointing in a world where even mid-range phones with LCD panels have a high refresh rate.

Since it is an LCD panel, the fingerprint scanner is not buried under the display. The source says the scanner is supplied by Goodix and might be on the back of the phone or on the side where it doubles as the power button.

The code also revealed that the Zenfone 7 is powered by the Snapdragon 865 processor and not the Snapdragon 865 Plus as some sources have reported. It has support for a MicroSD card that is believed will sit in a triple card SIM tray.

Indian leaker, Abhishek Yadav, posted a tweet listing the aforementioned specifications. However, he adds that the Zenfone 7 will have triple rear cameras that consist of a 64MP Sony IMX686 main camera, a 12MP IMX363 ultrawide angle camera, and a ToF camera.

It has been reported in earlier leaks that the phone will have a 5000mAh battery. It should also run Android 10 out of the box and be eligible for two OS upgrades when it launches.

While there have been rumors that ASUS will keep the flip camera design of the Zenfone 6, a new official teaser has now confirmed it.

The teaser is a 6-second video posted on Twitter by the official ASUS Deutschland (@asusde) account. The video shows the front of the Zenfone 7 which is plain and does not have a notch or punch hole. ASUS has done a good job of trimming the bezels as they are practically non-existent. We want to believe this is the same type of Nano Edge Display that ships with the Zenfone 6. The video also shows the volume rocker on the right side of the phone.

Towards the end of the video, the words “Flip Deine Welt” appear on the screen which translates to “Flip Your World”, teasing the device has flip cameras. The original tweet also has the hashtag #FlipDeineWelt.

The official ASUS global account posted a slightly modified version of the video but with the caption “Get ready to defy ordinary” and #Zenfone7 is coming soon. ASUS used the hashtag #DefyOrdinary for the Zenfone 6.

We expect more teasers will be released in the days leading up to the launch of the phone. Hopefully, we get to see what the rear looks like before the launch. We also hope the Zenfone 7 comes with triple cameras this time around, including a portrait lens.

It not only had impressive specs but it was also pretty affordable with a starting price of $499 for the base model with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The phone will be getting a successor on August 26, and ahead of the event, its pricing details have leaked which reveals the Zenfone 7 will also be a lot more affordable compared to other flagships.

The source of the info is Roland Quandt (@rquandt) and according to a tweet posted earlier today, the ASUS Zenfone 7 will be priced at €549 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB version. That sure is a great price for a phone powered by the Snapdragon 865+ and with a 5000mAh battery.

499 for the 6/128 variant.

If your budget is a bit lower, you will be able to pick up the 6GB RAM + 128GB version of the phone for €499 according to the leaker.

It has been reported that the Zenfone 7 will keep the flip camera design of its predecessor. This means the display will be devoid of a notch or punch hole. Other reported features include support for 30W fast charging, NFC, and Wi-Fi 6.

Last year’s Zenfone 6 aka ASUS 6Z is one of a kind smartphone with a motorized flip camera. Also, it debuted at a much lower price tag than flagship smartphones from other companies. Hence, its successor is one of the most anticipated smartphones by a niche audience.

Unlike the previous generation, the Zenfone 7 series is expected to have two models – regular and pro. It is speculated that the lineup comprises of ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro smartphones. In July, one of the ZenFone 7 series phones dubbed as ASUS_I002D with model number ZS670KS received approval from the National Communications Commission (NCC) in Taiwan. The device has now bagged certification from the Bluetooth SIG authority.

Apart from the ZS670KS model, the Bluetooth SIG authority has also certified the ZS671KS phone. It could be the ZenFone 7 Pro smartphone. A recent report had claimed that the ZenFone 7 is driven by the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform and its Pro edition is fueled by the Snapdragon 865+ chipset. The Bluetooth listing only reveals that the ZS670KS and ZS671KS carry support for Bluetooth 5.1.

It is unclear whether the phone has an LCD or AMOLED panel. The device is equipped with connectivity features like Wi-Fi 6 and NFC. It has 512 GB of built-in storage.

The ZS670KS houses a 5,000mAh battery. The device is expected to arrive with support for 30W rapid charging. The other specs of the smartphone are currently under wraps.

There is a possibility that the ZenFone 7 will be arriving with a notch-less display like the predecessor ASUS ZenFone 6 (known as ASUS 6z in India). It is also speculated that the ZenFone 7 models will inherit the flip-up camera system that was made available on the predecessor. This time around the camera setup is rumored to include more than two cameras. Rather than a motorized pop-up selfie camera as seen on phones with a full-screen design, the flagship has a motorized flip dual rear camera setup that allows the rear cameras to double as front-facing cameras too. Now, a successor or two successors are on the way.

News of the Zenfone 7 first surfaced in February when Qualcomm shared a press release that included a list of some of the phones its Snapdragon 865 Mobile Platform will power. More recently, it was reported that there will also be a Zenfone 7 Pro. However, a new discovery has revealed that it will come with a more powerful chipset.

First reported by DealnTech, it was discovered in kernel sources that there are two different core clockspeeds for ASUS’s upcoming phones. The first is 2.84GHz and the other is 3.09GHz.

We already know that the clockspeed of the prime core in the Snapdragon 865 is 2.84 GHz while that of the newly-announced Snapdragon 865 Plus is 3.09 GHz (approximately 3.1GHz). Since Qualcomm already confirmed that the Zenfone 7 will have a Snapdragon 865 processor, it means the higher clockspeed is for the Snapdragon 865 Plus inside the rumored Zenfone 7 Pro.

ASUS has generally always released multiple versions of its Zenfone “x” line. However, last year’s Zenfone 6 didn’t come with any siblings. Seeing as most manufacturers now launch a “Pro” or “Plus” version of their flagship phone, we are not surprised it is joining the bandwagon this year.

It is speculated that the company may announce the ZenFone 7 series in the coming month. A recent leak had revealed that the lineup includes ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro smartphones. A new ASUS phone ID number ASUS_I002D has been spotted at certification platforms like the National Communications Commission (NCC) in Taiwan and TUV Rheinland Japan. These listings have revealed its model number and several other vital information.

The NCC certification has revealed that ASUS ZenFone 7 (ASUS_I002D) has a ZS670KS model number. From the model number, it can be speculated that the phone has a 6.7-inch size. The NCC listing also shows that the phone is equipped with a massive internal storage of 512 GB. The device has support for NFC, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.0.

The model number of the ZenFone 7’s battery is C11P1904. It’s TUV Rheinland certification reveals that it has a typical value of 5,000mAh. The certification platform also reveals that the ASUS phone supports up to 30W fast charging.

While the ROG Phone 3 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 865 Plus mobile platform, the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro are rumored to be fueled by Snapdragon 865. The ZenFone 7 duo will retain the flip camera system that was introduced on the predecessor ZenFone 6. The last year’s model number had two cameras in the flip camera setup. ASUS is expected to increase the number of cameras on the ZenFone 7 series. The ZenFone 7 series is expected to arrive with a notch-less design, 5G support, and up to 16 GB of RAM. It is expected to arrive in black and white color editions.

The ZenFone 7 was mentioned in the list. However, the rumor mill has been silent on the specs and features of the ZenFone 7. A fresh report on TNNToday reveals that the Taiwanese manufacturer could be soon launching the ZenFone 7 series.

The report states that the ZenFone 7 will come in two variants. It will include a standard model called ZenFone 7 and an advanced version named ZenFone 7 Pro. These phones could be available in black and white color variants.

The ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro are expected to inherit the flip camera system that was introduced on the ZenFone 6. Last year’s model came with a notch-less LCD screen and it did not feature a dedicated selfie camera. Instead, the rear camera could be flipped up to function as a front camera.

ASUS ZenFone 6

Hence, the ZenFone 7 and 7 Pro are likely to come with a notch-less display design. The ZenFone 7 series may also feature an in-screen fingerprint reader. With SD865 onboard, it will arrive with support for 5G connectivity. The ZenFone 6 had two cameras, but the successor models are expected to come with more cameras.

At present, there is no information on the other specs of the ZenFone 7 series. The report claims that it will be priced lower than the ASUS ROG Phone 3 that is all set to launch on July 22. The handset may arrive in India as ASUS 7z.

In June, a mysterious ‘asus ZF’ phone believed to be the ZenFone device was spotted on Geekbench. The listing revealed that it is an SD865 phone with 16 GB of RAM. The phone ran on Android 10 OS and it scored 973 and 3346 in the single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench 5, respectively.

It has also not made any announcement regarding Mobile World Congress 2020. Nevertheless, we expect a successor to last year’s Zenfone 6, and a leaked image may be our first look at the phone which is expected to launch as the Zenfone 7.

The photo was posted on the official ASUS ZenTalk Forum and it shows the device, believed to be the Zenfone 7, with a square camera module similar to that of the Pixel 4. However, unlike Google’s phone, the camera housing sist in the middle and it houses three rear cameras arranged in a matrix along with an LED flash.

Based on the image, we can see ASUS will not be bringing back the flip camera design of the Zenfone 6.

The camera housing protrudes a bit from the curved back which appears to be covered in glass. There is no fingerprint scanner visible in the image, so we presume there will be one under the display. The Zenfone 7 is expected to have support for wireless charging since the Wireless Power Consortium already certified an ASUS wireless charger last October.

The image is far from being the sharpest but we can still make out some of the details on the front of the phone. The display does not appear to be curved though it has rounded corners. There is also a pill-shaped punch hole at the top left corner for dual front-facing cameras.

The image also shows the phone will have its power button and volume control buttons on the right but the Smart Key from the Zenfone 6 seems to be gone.

The Zenfone 7 is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 865 processor and should have a 5G modem too. When it launches, it should be ASUS’s first 5G smartphone. Since its predecessor was announced in May, ASUS may want to stick to that timeframe again this year.

Most times the device gets talked about, its rear cameras are usually the focus. The Zenfone 6 or ASUS 6z as it is called in India, actually has other interesting features. One of them is its massive 5000mAh battery which is 600mAh short of being double the Pixel 4’s measly 2800mAh battery capacity.

Since it packs a big battery, ASUS added support for reverse charging, allowing you to use it as a power bank to charge other devices. Sadly, there is no support for wireless charging. But that may change with its predecessor which should arrive as the Zenfone 7.

The wireless power consortium has certified an ASUS Wireless Charger with the model number W1G-AWPM. The charger was registered on October 4 but there are two other listings for September 23 and September 26 too. The differences between the three listings are the colors of the chargers and their Qi registration IDs. The listings for all three say the ASUS Wireless Charger has a potential power level of 15 Watts.

The charger has a circular design but it is hard to tell the material used for the top. The bottom does look like plastic though. The three colors are white, sky blue, and pink.

Alongside the Zenfone 7, ASUS may also decide to add wireless charging support to the ROG Phone II‘ successor. We just hope both phones get to keep their large battery capacities.

The Zenfone 6 was announced in May and made available the same month. However, its predecessor was announced in February of 2018 but didn’t go on sale until May. ASUS may decide to announce the Zenfone 7 earlier next year.
