ZTE Axon 30 Ultra ‘Super Moon Ultra’ feature to take on Astrophotography mode of rivals

ZTE is emphasizing a lot on cameras of the upcoming ZTE Axon 30 series of devices. With just three days left for the launch, it has confirmed today that it will have a Super Moon Ultra mode.

Capturing the celestial bodies or the areas of the night sky isn’t new to us. Other smartphone makers have their own version of Astrophotography to capture the stars and moon during the night-time. However, it looks like the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra will take it to the next level.

In a series of posts on Weibo, ZTE showcases how the Super Moon Ultra mode on the device works. Although the company shares the posts with #ZTEAxon30series, the teasers are shown with the Ultra so we will have to wait and see if other devices support it.

Talking about the Super Zoom Ultra, ZTE says that the model relies on multi-camera synchronization to perfectly bring the clarity of the moon and the environment surrounding it. By fusing this with the algorithm underneath, the images that come out are said to produce perfect moonlight seen by the human eye.

The images suggest that the Ultra will make use of the 64MP trio and the 8MP Periscope Telephoto Super Zoom lenses to get the right shot. Also, in a couple of videos, we can see that the device has a curved display with a punch-hole at the center for the selfie camera.

Reports so far say that the ZTE Axon 30 Pro and Ultra variants will have a second-generation under-display front camera with a 44MP lens. The display is likely a 6.92-inch OLED screen with 10-bit colors, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 360Hz touch sampling rate.

Talking about the camera, the Ultra is said to have a 64MP f/1.6 main, 64MP ultra-wide, 64MP portrait lens, in addition to that 8MP periscope lens with 5X optical zoom.

Other expected specs include Snapdragon 888 flagship chipset, LPDDR5 RAM, and the latest UFS 3.1 storage, 4,500mAh battery with 55W or 65W fast charging support, MyOS based on Android 11.

ZTE confirmed that it’s bringing the Axon 30 series to China on April 15. Today, the company has revealed that the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra will have an 8MP Super Zoom Periscope Telephoto lens.

Last week, the company confirmed the presence of an Auxiliary lens in addition to the Trinity Triple-camera setup. Today, it has revealed the entire camera specs and its stabilization features. Anyway, below are the camera specs of the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra:

64MP primary sensor, f/1.6 aperture
64MP ultra-wide, 13mm focal length
64MP Portrait lens
8MP Super Zoom Periscope Telephoto, 123mm focal length, 5x Optical zoom

It’s also worth mentioning that the ‘Neovision photography’ would be made possible with the lenses having apertures ranging from f/1.6-3.4 and focal length between 13-123mm. ZTE also has shared a video of Steadicam-level stabilization features on the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra.

Talking about the camera layout, it has a rounded rectangle design with four lenses stacked inside. The camera bump is a lot like the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and also has a dual-LED flash beside the lenses.

Also, if you add up the Megapixels count above, you get a total of 200MP cameras that was reported earlier.

ZTE may unveil the Axon 30 series on April 30, now releasing daily pre-launch teasers

Still reeling from the robust reception that greeted the launch of the S30 series on March 31, ZTE is about to pull another marketing stunt. The company has started teasing the launch of yet another smartphone series and it plans to release a teaser daily for the next 30 days. This time around, it is the Axon 30 series which is expected to include the Axon 30, Axon 30 Pro, and Axon 30 Pro+.

ZTE Mobile phone division has now disclosed on its official Weibo page that it will continue releasing daily teasers about the Axon 30 series until April 30. Although the company is yet to officially announce the launch date, we expect the device to be announced on April 30. In another light, if the new series doesn’t go official on April 30, ZTE may reveal the launch date on that day.

However, there is a strong possibility of the Axon 30 series getting unveiled on April 30. Earlier on, noted tipster @Digital Chat Station had disclosed that the new series will be released in April. The tipster has always been known for his accurate tips.

As far as we know, ZTE Axon 30 Pro will pack Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 888 chip. The device is said to feature Visionox’s under-screen front camera display panel and a built-in 4500mAh battery with 55W or 65W fast charging support. The display will have a refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 360Hz.

The first teaser from ZTE suggests the Axon 30 series will come with a powerful triple camera setup that the company says could be ”the industry’s strongest three-main photography system”.

The phone is also expected to pack a 44MP front under-screen camera, dual speakers, linear motor and will run on the new MyOS custom ROM.

The Axon 30 Pro+ version is also expected to pack a Snapdragon 888 chip but there is no information about the base model. We expect more details to emerge in the coming days.
