Earlier this month, a company official had teased the launch of the new tablet, now, live images of the upcoming device have just been revealed.

The Chinese PC maker has officially revealed the live images of the tablet recently. Looking at the image, the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.6 can be spotted on the far left. On the rear, we can see a vertically stacked camera module along with a long oval, which could be where the stylus will be housed. The other two tablets in the image include the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021 and the Xiaoxin Pad Plus that was launched previously.

Notably, the company’s product manager also shared an image that showcased the tablet running the ZUI version 13.0.289, which also showcases support storage expansion via a MicroSD card slot. Although, the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.6 will unfortunately not support 5G networking. Based on what we know so far, the tablet will sport an OLED display from Samsung that has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate.

A previous leak had also revealed certain other finer details as well. The device will reportedly feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset. On the rear, it will have a 13MP + 5MP dual camera setup while the front sports an 8MP + ToF dual camera system. Other features include a side mounted fingerprint sensor, a USB 3.1 (Type C) port, and a 10,200mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging.

With Lenovo One, once you pair your phone to your Lenovo PC via Bluetooth, you are able to operate the phone using your computer.

If you own the Lenovo Z6 Pro and a Lenovo computer, you can give the feature a try by installing the latest beta update for the phone. The beta update was released today and it also brings Android 10 to the device.

The update arrives as ZUI 11.5.120 and brings a new user interface, a number of optimizations, bug fixes, and new features to the flagship phone. Lenovo also includes a list of possible issues you may run into if you decide to install the beta version. We will advise the average user to wait for a stable update which should arrive later.

At the moment, we do not know if Lenovo One will be available to all Lenovo phones or only those that will get the update to Android 10.

The Z6 Pro launched in April 2019. It has a 6.39-inch FHD+ display with a notch at the top for a 32MP camera. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 855 processor and comes with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. There is a 48MP camera on the back of the phone and it is paired with a 16MP ultrawide angle camera, an 8MP telephoto camera, a 2MP dedicated camera with OIS for nighttime videos, and a 3D ToF camera. The phone packs an in-display fingerprint scanner and a 4000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.

The new ZUI update based on Android 8.0 Oreo brings the number of version to 3.5.376 and, despite the fact that it is a minor version, it also brings several improvements.

The Weibo post by Cheng was published using the Lenovo S5 smartphone. He has been using this unannounced Lenovo phone for publishing Weibo posts since February end. The following teaser image suggests that the Lenovo S5 could be the phone that will be debuting on March 20.

In January, Cheng had teased the bottom portion of a mysterious Lenovo phone (shown below) that seems to be endowed with a reflective metal body along with a curved design. It is speculated that it could be the Lenovo S5 phone.

The other teaser that was released recently by Cheng suggests that will be arriving with ZUK’s ZUI Android skin. It is also rumored to come with a hardware security chip. The above Weibo post states that the upcoming Lenovo phone will be a thin device with a huge-sized battery of 6,000mAh capacity.

In the previous month, the Lenovo K520 smartphone spotted at TENAA. The handset features a 5.65-inch display that offers an aspect ratio of 18:9 and Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. It is fueled by 2 GHz octa-core processor. Its 32 GB and 64 GB storage models respectively feature 3 GB and 4 GB of RAM. It is running on Android 8.0 Oreo.

The Lenovo K520 has a dual camera setup on its rear side and one of its sensors is of 8-megapixel. The front panel houses an 8-megapixel selfie camera. A 3,000mAh battery powers the phone. Some rumors have claimed that it could be the upcoming Lenovo S5 phone. What’s interesting about this phone is that the rear view of the phone resembles with the image that was shared by Cheng. However, it does not feature a 6,000mAh battery.

A few months ago, Lenovo announced it was shutting down its sub-brand ZUK after just 1.5 years in the market and four devices in total. Following that announcement were rumors that Lenovo was going to keep the UI of the ZUK phones and load it on Motorola phones launched in the country.

Now that it has been confirmed, it is safe to assume that all other Moto phones released in China will get the same treatment. The ZUI version number the Moto Z2 Play is running is 3.0 and its based on Android 7.1.1 too. This is a new version of the OS as the last version before the brand was shut down was ZUI 2.5.

There are still a few questions to be asked about the move. Will Lenovo make this exclusive to China alone or will it extend it to other Asian countries like India? Or even all Moto phones released globally? Will other Moto phones previously released in China receive ZUI updates or remain on the default Moto UI?

The Moto Z2 Play goes on sale on July 5 for ¥3299 (~$484).

Although we know that Lenovo has pulled the plug on the ZUK brand line months ago, reports have surfaced that Lenovo has kept the ZUI software interface under development for the Moto brand. From an earlier revealed document from Lenovo’s private archives, it was said that the company has been testing a Moto modular smartphone prototype equipped with a ZUI system.

ZUK‘s former CEO Chang Cheng has been pretty active on Weibo, often replying to fan’s questions. Recently when one of the fans asked him about the progress on the new ZUI update, he replied by saying that it would be close to stock Android, which is similar to the strategy adopted by the existing Moto brand’s UI.

ZUK’s software department is not new to the near-stock Android experience either, as in the past, the ZUK Z1 ran with the, now unsupported, Cyanogen OS 12.1; which also provided a custom stock Android UI. The popularity of in-house near-stock Android is increasing, for example, OnePlus’ successful OxygenOS and ZTE’s MiFlavor have become many non-Mainland Chinese UI favorites.

We will have to take this with a pinch of salt, as we may not be expecting the ZUI to be implemented on Moto devices, at least not outside China. However, with leaks that the defunct ZUK department was collaborating with the Moto team on a modular flagship device, we may see Lenovo release a modular phone with a new version of ZUI on it.

RELATED: ZUK Edge With 6GB RAM Gets A Major Price Cut!

What is also important to note is that ZUK’s ZUI is still new to the global market, as it was first used in the ZUK Z2, not Z1, globally. However, if the rumors are true, the ZUI can provide another take on the stock Android, with a hint of the remaining ‘ZUKesque’ feel.

Personally, I think that Lenovo should stick to concentrating on the Moto line whilst improving the current near-stock Android experience already used in their system.

What are your thoughts on these new ZUI rumors?

The development stemmed from the challenges it was facing with Motorola Mobility. The plan would see it release all its phones under the Lenovo Moto brand starting with the Vibe line of mid-range phones. But what we didn’t expect was the inclusion of its ZUK Mobile brand since it was an independent part of the Lenovo group much like Honor is to Huawei.

The news is coming from webo user @Old Cool who announced that there will be no ZUK Z3. His post was then responded to by analyst, Pan Jiutang who confirmed that the ZUK hardware business was going to be shutdown. In his post, Jiutang says the company was a success and managed to amass a large fan-base during its short stint as a phone manufacturer.

ZUK Mobile was founded on May 28, 2015 and just a month from its 2nd anniversary, Lenovo is shutting it down. During its short stint as a mobile manufacturer, it announced three phones: the ZUK Z1, ZUK Z2, ZUK Z2 Pro, and the ZUK Edge.

Earlier this year, leaked images of a phone called the ZUK Edge II Special Edition surfaced online but as it stands now, the blue dual camera beauty will never hit the market. For fans of the brand, the ZUK Edge will be the most recent flagship they can buy.

Another Weibo post by @Zheng Jun reveals the new management at Lenovo following the merger of the mobile brands. ZUK co-founder, Chen Xudong will return to Lenovo’s PC business arm; Qiao Jian will be the new head of Lenovo Mobile China; and Kirk B. Skaugen will remain head of Lenovo’s data center operations.

There is however a ray of hope for ZUK as Lenovo’s VP Alex Chen Yu announced a few days ago that the company’s ZUI will be used for upcoming Moto phones. If this will work out is still unknown.

One of the unique selling points of Motorola phones is the clean and almost stock version of android it comes with. Swapping this for ZUI in’t something that I see working out especially in the US and Europe. So it might probably be limited to the Chinese market just the same way OnePlus has a separate OS for its home market.

This disclosure is credited to have been made by Lenovo’s Vice-President Alex Chen Yu via his Weibo account*.

Before now, the Moto brand basically runs on native Android OS right from when Google acquired Motorola and even after the brand was purchased by Lenovo. With such setup, competing in a market where custom ROM like the MIUI, Flyme, EMUI, and others exist will be a minus on its part. Thus, the latest move could be a last dash effort to tweak things for the Moto brand and make it more appealing and competitive in the market.

The VP didn’t give details as to whether the ZUI will be on all Moto smartphones or on the flagship models. This year, we are already expecting the low-end Moto E as well as Moto C. Also, the next generation Moto Z flagship models are expected to be launched soon and if at all the ZUI will feature in a Moto smartphone, they are more likely candidates. We had seen render and leaks of Moto Z2, Z2 Play and Z2 Force, with the possibility of all making their debut this year and it will be more exciting if they come with top end specs in addition to the ZUI. The ZUI will likely be the latest ZUI v2.5.

The system update will have new ZUI for the ZUK phones and long screen shots apart from other important features. Additionally, ZUK Z2 will also receive exclusive one-button overclocking function which was promised at the launch of ZUK Z2.

Overheating is another pain point in smartphones. With ZUI 2.0, as announced at the time of launch, Lenovo has added a feature that will identify apps that cause overheating accurately and control the app, resulting in no overheating of the device.

The highlight of this update is the much awaited and talked about feature, one click overclocking . This will allow users to overclock the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.15 Ghz to be overclocked till 2.30 GHz giving the already powerful processor an instant performance boost when needed.

Lenovo additionally has also started a ZUK ZUI 2.0 beta program where beta users will receive a push notification of system updates. ZUK Z2 Pro, ZUK Z2 and ZUK Z1 will begin to receive the final version update ZUI 2.0 upgrade notification by this month itself.

The phone ran the old Snapdragon 801 flagship but it turned out to be quite a successful device, launching in a number of countries internationally, including recently in India. But for a young company, it was necessary to have a great OS, and hence, it partnered up with Cyanogen for using Cyanogen OS on its new device. Given the popularity of Cyanogen, it turned out to be a good decision, since it promised timely updates and new features on the ZUK Z1.

Now, the company has updated the Z series with two new smartphones, the ZUK Z2 and the ZUK Z2 Pro. Both these devices are running the company’s own ZUI 1.9 version out of the box, but that’s for the Chinese version. We haven’t yet heard anything about the international variants of these devices, nor any comments about the OS that will power them. It’s possible that ZUK continues to use Cyanogen OS for their international variants, but the company just launched a ZUI Android website and the site is available in English as well as Chinese. What’s even more interesting is that that the official ZUK forums have threads talking about overseas ROM support. Of course, this doesn’t in any way confirm that ZUK has ditched Cyanogen, but it shows that ZUK is invested in its own OS.

We have seen OnePlus switch to their own OxygenOS (HydrogenOS in China) for its new devices last year and it’s possible that ZUK follows the same route this year. At this moment, nothing is official, and we will have to wait for an official statement from the company to throw some more light on the company’s plans for its international models.

Meanwhile, let’s know if you think it would be a good idea for ZUK to switch to its own OS for international variants as well, instead of Cyanogen.
