<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-177397" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovo-S5-Weibo-Post.png?x10805" alt="Lenovo S5 Weibo Post" width="655" height="489" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovo-S5-Weibo-Post.png 655w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovo-S5-Weibo-Post-300x224.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovo-S5-Weibo-Post-160x120.png 160w" sizes="(max-width: 655px) 100vw, 655px" /></p>
<p>The Weibo post by Cheng was published using the Lenovo S5 smartphone. He has been using this unannounced Lenovo phone for publishing Weibo posts since February end. The following teaser image suggests that the Lenovo S5 could be the phone that will be debuting on March 20.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-177396" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovo-S5-Teaser.jpg?x10805" alt="Lenovo S5 Teaser" width="600" height="1200" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovo-S5-Teaser.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovo-S5-Teaser-150x300.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovo-S5-Teaser-512x1024.jpg 512w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>In January, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lenovo/">Cheng had teased the bottom portion of a mysterious Lenovo phone</a> (shown below) that seems to be endowed with a reflective metal body along with a curved design. It is speculated that it could be the Lenovo S5 phone.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-177399" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovos-Mysterious-Smartphone.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="600" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovos-Mysterious-Smartphone.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovos-Mysterious-Smartphone-225x300.jpg 225w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>The other teaser that was released recently by Cheng suggests that will be arriving with ZUK’s ZUI Android skin. It is also rumored to come with a hardware security chip. The above Weibo post states that the upcoming Lenovo phone will be a thin device with a huge-sized battery of 6,000mAh capacity.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-177398" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovo-ZUI-Phone-Release.jpg?x10805" alt="Lenovo ZUI Phone Release" width="690" height="1227" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovo-ZUI-Phone-Release.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovo-ZUI-Phone-Release-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovo-ZUI-Phone-Release-576x1024.jpg 576w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>In the previous month, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/03/01/lenovo-k520-seen-tenaa-fhd-display-dual-rear-cameras/">Lenovo K520 smartphone spotted at TENAA</a>. The handset features a 5.65-inch display that offers an aspect ratio of 18:9 and Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. It is fueled by 2 GHz octa-core processor. Its 32 GB and 64 GB storage models respectively feature 3 GB and 4 GB of RAM. It is running on Android 8.0 Oreo.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-177395" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovo-K520-TENAA-Front-and-Rear.png?x10805" alt="Lenovo K520 TENAA Front and Rear" width="870" height="577" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovo-K520-TENAA-Front-and-Rear.png 870w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovo-K520-TENAA-Front-and-Rear-300x199.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Lenovo-K520-TENAA-Front-and-Rear-768x509.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px" /><br />

<p>The Lenovo K520 has a dual camera setup on its rear side and one of its sensors is of 8-megapixel. The front panel houses an 8-megapixel selfie camera. A 3,000mAh battery powers the phone. Some rumors have claimed that it could be the upcoming Lenovo S5 phone. What’s interesting about this phone is that the rear view of the phone resembles with the image that was shared by Cheng. However, it does not feature a 6,000mAh battery.</p>

<p>First, there haven&#8217;t been any new product releases this year. The brand&#8217;s user interface has also been adopted for the Motorola devices released in China, starting with the Moto Z2 Play.</p>
<p>The most recent is the redirection of the ZUK.com website to Motorola.com.cn and the shut down of the ZUK forums (bbs.zuk.com). The forum page now redirects to club.lenovo.com.cn where you have news related to Lenovo as a whole.</p>
<p>With all these going on, why doesn&#8217;t Lenovo just announce that it has shutdown the brand?</p>

<p>If you still want to pick up a ZUK phone, you will probably find them available on online retail stores. Some of them even offer discounts from time to time. Our online store, Giztop, has the ZUK Edge for $316, Z2 for $215, and the Z2 Pro (6GB + 128GB) for $279.</p>

The company had debunked such rumours but it has continued to fester and the recent redirecting of the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/lenovo">Lenovo</a> China official website to <a href="http://www.motorola.com.cn" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Motorola.com.cn</a> only fuelled the rumours.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/lenovo.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-139011" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/lenovo.png?x10805" alt="Lenovo " width="595" height="398" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/lenovo.png 595w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/lenovo-300x201.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 595px) 100vw, 595px" /></a></p>
<p>From the look of things, there may be more to it than meets the eye. For one, Lenovo may indeed have rested its smartphone brand as the Lenovo and ZUK websites both redirect to Motorola.com.cn. The new website contains a link to navigate to Lenovo&#8217;s official China website where only laptops, tablets, Smart home gadgets, printers etc, are exhibited for sale excluding mobile phones.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/lenovo2.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-139012" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/lenovo2.png?x10805" alt="lenovo" width="592" height="207" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/lenovo2.png 592w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/lenovo2-300x105.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 592px) 100vw, 592px" /></a></p>
<p>But Lenovo former VP and presently CEO of the ZUK brand seems to have hinted via his Weibo page that the ZUK Z3 may be coming. The CEO had posted an interesting piece where he hinted that the company will be having 4 different events in the space of three months, precisely between July and September. The post attracted lots of comments with one particularly asking if the ZUK Z3 is coming and Chang Cheng&#8217;s response was affirmative. Although subsequent response by the CEO may not have been very explicit, he did not in anyway disclose that the brand is dead. But one uncommon thing we noticed is that he was shown as blogging from a Galaxy S8 smartphone.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">Read More:</span> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/06/04/6gb-ram-zuk-edge-gets-huge-price-cut-%c2%a51799-264/">The 6GB RAM ZUK Edge Gets A Huge Price Cut, Down To ¥1799 (~$264)</a></strong></p>
<p>The ZUK Z3 is supposed to be the next ZUK mobile phone we&#8217;d be seeing. Recent rumours point at the Z3 coming as ZUK Z3 Nax, powered by the unannounced Snapdragon 836, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. We are not so sure the rumour is fake. The likely turn of event is that Lenovo may have divested from ShenQi, the company which Lenovo invested in to make it the parent company of ZUK. So, it is possible ZUK mobile will be introducing its smartphones as an independent brand. Whatever it is, we expect to see four launch events within the next three months as hinted by the CEO. Until then, we&#8217;ll be on the look out for more details on this because the last has definitely not been heard.</p>
