Samsung will announce the Exynos 1080 processor at an event in China tomorrow. The new mobile chipset is expected to appear in a Chinese smartphone first and there are reports it will be one from Vivo. A Chinese leaker revealed today on Weibo that the new chipset will come in not one but two Vivo phones.
The source of the info is the Chinese blogger, Arsenal, and according to him, the Exynos 1080 chipset will power the Vivo X60 and Vivo X60 Pro smartphones. This detail doesn’t come as a surprise considering the fact that the Vivo X30 and Vivo X30 Pro are both powered by the Exynos 980.
This means that there is a possibility that the two phones will differ in other areas such as camera configuration.
The leaker also revealed that the starting price of the phones is ¥3500 (~$528) and that this price tag will position the phone (Vivo X60) against the Reno5 Pro and not the standard Reno5.
The Vivo X30 launched for ¥3298 (~$497) while the Pro model had a starting price of ¥4298 (~$603). It is not unusual for manufacturers to launch successors with a higher price tag and we want to believe the Vivo X60 will justify the increase in price.
The Exynos 1080 is a 5nm processor with four Cortex-A78 CPU cores and four Cortex-A55 cores. It also has a Mali-G78 GPU and an AnTuTu benchmark result puts it ahead of the Snapdragon 865+ processor.
