As of right now, Xingji Times has a 79.09 percent controlling stake in Meizu Technology. Following the acquisition, the top management for the Chinese smartphone maker will be more or less the same. Although, Shen Ziyu, the vice chairman of Xingji Times, will now also serve as the chairman of Meizu Technology. On the other hand, Huang Zhipan is still the CEO of the brand. Notably, the acquisition is in line with our previous report regarding Geely having plans to buy stake into the smartphone maker.

Huang had joined the company back in 2004 and has been held various important positions related to the supply chain, overseas business, and others. Despite the acquisition by Xingji times, both parties have agreed to see this as a strategic investment and that Meizu will still operate as an independent brand. Thus, the top management was left untouched and remains stable, while Huang Zhang will also be a strategic consultant for the brands products.

Interestingly, Shen Ziyu the new chairman of Meizu, revealed that the brand will retain and independent team. He further added that the company is also planning on launching a new flagship smartphone next year. Although, no other finer details were shared regarding this matter.
