China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has revealed impressive progress in the country’s 5G telecommunications sector. With a staggering 676 million 5G smartphone users and almost 3 million 5G base stations deployed, China is leading the way in 5G technology.

Impressive stats reveal China’s dominance in 5G technology

The industry has experienced a 6.2% increase in revenue and a remarkable 17.1% rise in total business volume year-on-year. Over 2.12 billion mobile Internet of Things (IoT) devices are currently in use, showcasing the widespread adoption of mobile technology across various industries.

The impact of 5G technology has been felt in sectors such as healthcare, education, and transportation, with over 50,000 application cases demonstrating its transformative potential. The “Hundred Cities, Thousand Parks” industrial internet campaign has further fueled China’s digital transformation by benefiting numerous enterprises and fostering innovation through the creation of influential industrial internet platforms.

Leaders of major telecom firms have highlighted the role of next-generation technologies, including 5G, cloud computing, big data, and AI, in driving the sector’s growth. They emphasize the increasing demand for intelligent digital transformation and the pivotal role of AI in initiating a new wave of technological revolution and industrial transformation.

Liu Lihong, Chairman of China Unicom, predicted that within the next two years, artificial intelligence will have a profound impact on 50% of job roles, potentially signaling the beginning of another industrial revolution.
