Hyundai Mobis, part of the Hyundai Motor Group, has secured a big contract from Volkswagen AG for EV components. The agreement is mainly for the Battery System Assembly (BSA). This is a product that puts together a battery pack with the battery management system (BMS) and other parts. It’s made to make sure the battery in an electric vehicle works well and safely.

Hyundai is already setting up new manufacturing hubs in the US and Indonesia

Volkswagen will use Hyundai Mobis’s BSA in its next-generation electric vehicles. What’s more, Hyundai Mobis will build a new production base in Spain, close to Volkswagen’s plant.

HYUNDAI

It looks like Volkswagen will get BSA for its upcoming all-electric models from Hyundai Mobis, instead of making everything in-house. This is interesting because big companies like Volkswagen and Hyundai are often seen as rivals. But with other recent partnerships in the industry, maybe this shouldn’t be too surprising.

Some think that Volkswagen is changing its strategy for electric cars, with possibly more outsourcing. It could be a need for new technology or a way to save money. Either way, it’s a big win for Hyundai Mobis, which is growing its BSA manufacturing around the world.

Hyundai Mobis said that it plans to build a new base near a car plant in Spain to supply these BSAs. They already have BSA production in Korea and the Czech Republic, and new electric vehicle hubs in the United States and Indonesia.

They also noted that they expect more orders for electric vehicle parts in the global market. So, we might see more companies looking to get EV components from Hyundai Mobis in the future.
