Over 60,000 applicants applied for the post, and after a 3-month-long nationwide hunt, iQOO has officially announced its first-ever Chief Gaming Officer, Shwetank Pandey; he became India’s youngest CGO. The selection process if iQOO’s CGO role consisted of rounds like competing in games, group discussions, and an audition round with Rannvijay Singha, Mythpat, and Nipun Marya as the jury. The applicants were judged on these rounds according to their Gameplay, Gaming Knowledge, personality, and communication skills. Shwetank was found to be the most suitable person for the job among over 60,000 candidates.

What is a Chief Gaming Officer’s Role?

The CGO will have access to the latest hardware from the company to test efficiency and provide feedback to improve the user experience. The person will receive invitations for esports events held in different states to meet and greet other gamers and collect feedback on the latest hardware or games.

Additionally, iQOO has also reportedly appointed two zonal CGOs to the team, working directly with Shwetank to align strategies, enhance community engagement, and ensure a better gaming experience. This appointment further confirms how gaming as a profession is on the rise in emerging gaming markets like India.
