Rivian, a rising star in the electric vehicle (EV) industry, is introducing an enticing offer for its R1T electric pickup truck. In a move to boost sales and attract customers, the company is now offering a free Level 2 wall charger, along with a $2,000 installation credit, for those who choose to buy a ready-to-ship R1T from their inventory. This initiative not only highlights Rivian’s commitment to enhancing customer experience but also reflects a growing trend in the EV market to provide added value through such incentives.

The charger is normally priced at $800

The offer, which is only valid until the end of the year, is exclusively for Rivian’s R1T models that are immediately available for delivery. This approach is particularly appealing for customers looking to bypass the longer wait times associated with custom-ordered vehicles. Typically, a custom-built R1T would take about four months to deliver, whereas vehicles from Rivian’s inventory are available much quicker, sometimes within a week.

Rivian Wall Charger

The free charger provided by Rivian, usually priced at $800, is capable of delivering up to 11.5 kilowatts of power. This efficiency is significant for R1T owners, enabling them to charge their vehicles at a rate of up to 25 miles per hour of charging. The $2,000 installation credit, managed through Rivian’s partner Qmerit, covers a substantial part of the installation costs, though customers are liable for any expenses beyond this amount.

This strategy is not unique to Rivian. Earlier in the year, Hyundai launched a similar promotion for its EV models, offering a free Level 2 charger and an installation credit, albeit on a smaller scale. Such tactics are becoming more common as EV manufacturers seek to stand out in an increasingly competitive market.
