Apple‘s latest iOS 17.2 beta update brings a refreshing change for iPhone users who have longed for more personalization in their devices. The new feature, nestled under ‘Sounds & Haptics’, introduces the ability to customize the default notification sound. This change, seemingly small, marks a significant shift in Apple’s approach to user experience.
Users could only customize mail and calendar alert sounds previously
Previously, customization options for sounds were limited to texts, mail, and calendar alerts. Now, the new ‘Default Alerts’ section expands this flexibility to all other notifications. This means users can now choose from any of the available text tones to be their default notification sound. This feature not only enhances personalization but also aids in better distinguishing between different types of notifications.
Moreover, Apple has addressed feedback regarding the haptic alert introduced in iOS 17. Users now have the option to revert to the old haptic feedback or customize it according to their preference. This level of customization, particularly in haptic feedback, is a thoughtful addition for users who are sensitive to or particular about the tactile feedback they receive from their devices.
